Cornerstone Guesthouse

We stayed at the beautiful Cornerstone Guesthouse in Swakopmund in January 2026. A very nice complex, very cosy, very well-equipped rooms. The breakfast is also excellent. There are only 9 or 10 rooms, so it is advisable to make a reservation during the peak season. The Cornerstone Guesthouse is in a good location. Vehicles can be parked inside the property. The excellent Altstadt Restaurant is only 150 metres away. Highly recommended!

Really nice guesthouse. Very friendly owners and staff. Great breakfast. Central location from where the beach, the pier, and most good restaurants are walking distance.
Moreover, the staff goes the extra mile. We forgot a newly bought hat at the guesthouse and they sent it after us to our final overnight stay in Windhoek while we were travelling Namibia. They must have checked with our travel agent to get the coordinates.

I had enjoyed my stay here so much in 2018 I decided to come back again. BUT BEWARE! Although the property advertises (and I quote) ‘Accommodation is made up of seven light and spacious bedrooms’ they have since added new rooms which you enter from the back car park and which share a small dark astroturf courtyards and little available light through frosted windows. Note: There are no images of these rooms on their website! Whilst the rooms are outfitted pleasantly ‘beach house style’, we were put into Room 8 – a dark L shaped room whose one bedroom window was in the roof, obscured by a solar panel. There is no outside view from this room at all as the small door glass panel is frosted. This room was previously a kitchen area part of a suite (see image) but has been converted to another bedroom by the new owners. The room was so dark, we had to leave the lights on, the bathroom door open and the door to the room open to get reasonable light, even then the room was like a small dark cell reminiscent of posh backpacker accommodation. We were so disappointed by this experience we complained via our travel agent and were swiftly relocated to another sea-front property that they owned (separate review for that), but it shouldn’t have happened at all, and the overnight stay in this depressing room was awful. Breakfast was lovely, and staff were pleasant – Jackie in particular was very helpful. Laundry service was reasonable and quick.

We were a group of four, and had book d two rooms. The rooms were good, and breakfast was very good. Location was good — just a few minutes walk to the centre of town, the restaurants and the beach.

My son and I were on a 9-day tour of Namibia in July. Our tour company arranged for two nights at the Cornerstone Guesthouse. It’s a lovely property. The rooms are spacious with all we needed. Each had a nice little patio so we could enjoy the lovely garden and all the birds. Beds are comfy and, as it was chilly when we were there, we appreciated the heater in our rooms and the extra blankets! Breakfast was fabulous…. A great selection of cold and a hot breakfast to order. The hosts were very helpful and kind. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay, walking distance into town. Breakfast is really good. Sitting in their beautiful garden in the afternoon to watch the birds on the feeders was a highlight.

We stayed five nights at this lovely guesthouse. Beautifully clean and well-presented and set in a very pretty garden. Superb breakfast to set us up for the day, including excellent choice of cooked breakfast. It's a short walk, just a ten minutes stroll, to the centre of Swakopmond and the tour operators will pick up, if you arrange this. Everyone at Cornerstones was helpful and professional and we are very happy to recommend this great little guesthouse.

A lovely little guesthouse on a side street in centre of Swakopmund, a perfect base for exploring the city. Secure car parking and a member of staff who cleans your windscreens every day. At check in you are given a map of the town with all the restaurants and places of interest marked on it. Its just a short and safe walk (we did it during the day and night with no issues) to all of the attractions and restaurants and bars. Your accommodation is a lovely suite set in beautiful gardens full of birds, with a small little terrace out front. A lovely comfy bed, clean bathroom with lots of hot water and a small lounge with a fridge and tv. The fridge had a wide range of drinks and snacks available to purchase. It was very quiet at night too! Breakfast is served in the main building and they had a lovey spread of cold breakfast items, fruit, yoghurts and baked goods. They also offer a choice of hot cooked to order breakfast item. The owner is very friendly and chatty asking about your activities and will give you recommendations for things to do and visits and will happily book them for you. All staff were very friendly too,
Highly recommend for anyone wanting to stay in Swakopmund.

Marvellous gem and can’t say enough good things about it. Breakfast great and filling. Easy walking to town. They’re very willing to make any booking for restaurants or activities. Quiet and peaceful setting with a well appointed garden. A must!

As a owner of a small hotel ourselfs, one gets warm in the heart visiting places like this. Cosy, superclean and exelent in every detail. When the sound of the espressomachine at the superb breakfast is a little bit high and that is the only thing that we noted during our stay, then you know it is good for real.

We spent two nights in Swakopmund and were delighted with our room at Cornerstone. Wonderful garden with flowers and plants and filled with some amazing birds. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. The owner was friendly and welcoming and went out of his way to assist us when there was an issue with a prebooked excursion. Breakfast was amazing with an incredible choice and something for even the fussiest of eaters.

A charming little B&B in walking distance of all the Swakopmund sights. The owner is very friendly and happy to provide recommendations. Excellent breakfast buffet. Each apartment has its own little terrace, and the guesthouse has a well maintained garden where you can relax after walking around the town.

Family of 4 incl 2 older teenagers, we spent two nights at the Cornerstone Guest House in Swakopmund. The owners and staff are very friendly, the rooms adequate but clean, and the location ideal for the different activities in the area. Breakfast was delicious. I’d definitely recommend this place to families and couples traveling in Namibia.

The guesthouse is centrally located and very private. The area around the rooms has so many beautiful plants and there are bird feeders that attract lots of lovely birds.
The rooms are beautifully furnished and have coffee/tea service as well as a stocked minibar. The someday laundry service is excellent.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Enjoyed our stay here very much. Comfortable bed, nice shower, mini bar and tea/coffee facilities. Lovely outdoor seating with all the birds! Great location. Easy to walk to the beach and town. Bonus with the secure parking and super helpful staff. Breakfast was great and we loved that they had a menu for the hot breakfast that was more extensive than most. Would definitely recommend!

Cornerstone Guesthouse is a very welcoming and comfortable B&B within walking distance of all Swakopmund attractions.
Staff, including the owner, were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was 1st class.
The B&B helped organise a brilliant trip to Sandwich harbour south of Walvis Bay.
Would definitely recommend a stay here when visiting Swakopmund.
For dinner, "The Tug" down by the jetty is a great option, as is the little Doughnut Bar on the jetty for a fun coffee stop.
