Chobe River Lodge

The pros outweigh the cons so thus 5 stars. This small lodge has a communal dining table which encourages interaction with the other guests. We made a firm friendship another couple as a result. The food ranges from okay to awful. For instance the panna cotta was so dense that it would serve as an environmentally friendly replacement for depleted uranium in anti-tank shells. We were not keen on the open plan bedroom/bathroom either.
What won us over entirely was BK the game ranger. Following an uninspiring drive with another ranger in the morning, BK provided us with an exceptional drive in the afternoon. On which we probably spotted as much game as we had done previously in our 2 weeks of safariing, including incredible close encounters with 4 of the big 5 within 90 minutes. What an awesome conclusion to our safari adventure. (There are no rhino in the Chobe park, else I’m sure that BK would magicked that into the drive). As an added bonus BK is an avid photographer, so tries to angle the vehicle’s positioning to give you the best shots. These shots were done with my old iPhone 6SE!

We were recommended this hotel by our local guide, and it turned out to be one of the best hotel experiences we've had in Botswana. The service was exceptional, and the facility is impeccably maintained. We especially enjoyed the dinner, which was a delightful experience, made even better by the well-trained, attentive staff. A truly memorable stay—thank you!

Total Rip-Off and Mosquito Nightmare – Never Again!
I would like to clarify that I am not a guide, but was in fact the guest who personally stayed at Chobe River Lodge. Your public response is based on a false assumption and completely ignores that I shared my own experience.
We were completely scammed here. Drinks were offered in a way that made it seem like they were included or at least reasonably priced. In the end, we were charged around 150€ for a single bottle of rum just because we ordered three glasses of rum and coke. No price mentioned, no warning – just a ridiculous surprise on the bill. This is an absolute disgrace and borders on fraud.
On top of that, the entire dining area is swarmed with thousands of mosquitoes in the evening, coming straight from the river. There are no mosquito nets or other prevention methods provided in the dining area, and even worse, they enter the rooms through a gap under the door. Sleeping peacefully is impossible.
Avoid Chobe River Lodge at all costs if you don’t want to be ripped off and eaten alive by mosquitoes.

The managers and staff were all lovely but the overall value for money was nonexistent. The food presentation was great but the quality was poor. I would not recommend this to anyone, you can get a much better experience elsewhere.

A modern, boutique hotel with friendly and very helpful staff. Having a G&T in the cold deep plunge pool was a highlight as was the river trip and game drives. BK was an excellent game guide always keen to make sure we had the best sightings. It’s obvious that the owner is truly invested in this hotel and she is so helpful and friendly with lots of tips and travel advice.

Beautiful boutique lodge, directly on the bank of the river. Modern architecture, stunning wildlife photograps, comfortable rooms and the best staff I seen in a long time.

What a wonderful place. We stayed here two nights and went on a boat trip and game drive — it was great. Food is amazing, good wines, nice space and small lodge (12rooms) We recommend this lodge. We had a great time here.

Great, good friendly staff and food was superb, only improvement that can be made is shaded parking for guests, thus not full points.

Nice place, but more boutique hotel than safari lodge. Room was clean and comfortable but the lighting was not good. Aircon unit situated in bathroom only.
Dinner was a set menu with only one option for a main course and lunch menu was the same every day.
Meals were all taken at a long table situated in the main area.
Service from staff was excellent.
We enjoyed our stay but don't think we would return.

This place is most amazing. They take service to the next level. I highly recommend staying here and going on some tours they provide. Our boat tour and our land safari were top notch. The food they provided rivaled any Michelin star restaurant.

So nice stay! Even if we stayed one night at Chobe River Lodge, it was so great. Thanks again to all the staff and Tifo our great guide (Tifo, in case you read this : Merci! ). We really appreciate that even if it was one night, everyone was pleasant, taking care of us and making sure our stay will be lovely. Regarding the installation, they are great, nothing to say :). Now, we just want to go back there as soon as possible!
