Riad Elixir

I just wanted to write to say how kind the hosts were. We unfortunately left Riad Elixir prior to staying a night, due to the location. This was nothing to do with the Riad itself but was simply down to what was outside of the front door. Location wise — if you’re searching for authentic hustle & bustle, a bit far out from the touristy scene, with more of a local vibe, this Riad is in the perfect spot. But prepare for local customs!
The inside is beautiful and although we didn’t stay long enough to see it all, our room was generously sized, very comfortable & peaceful.
Unfortunately for us, we wanted a calmer environment and that was our fault for booking so centrally in the Medina.
Thank you to the hosts for taking care of us, letting us stay to figure out our plans and for walking us to the nearest & safest taxi spot — after a truly overwhelming experience entering the Souks.

This was my first ever solo trip, let alone first time to Morocco but I can hand on heart say that I don’t think I could have been placed anywhere better! Khalid the host was the most amazing person who was there to make sure I’m ok whatever hour I came back to the Riad. He even made sure I had breakfast earlier than the usual times on days where I was leaving early for an excursion or for my early flight back home. Literally anything I asked for or needed answering Khalid was on hand to help me out.
In terms of the Riad itself, it was very clean and has some lovely architecture. Super quiet (I’m a deep sleeper so didn’t even get woken up by the calls to prayer) however even when hearing the calls if I was up that early I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The cleaner was a lovely lady who took time out to organise my things if I had left in a hurry in the morning which was super sweet.
I didn’t spend much time in the Riad during the day as I was so busy but it’s perfect if you’re not looking for somewhere to lounge about in all day (I mean why would you in such a beautiful city! )
Thanks once again to Khalid for making my first solo trip that little bit better and I won’t forget our little chats over a cup of tea ❤️

Wonderful little riad. The rooms were cool and comfortable despite the heat outside. The host was amazing and helpful with timely advice for navigating the Medina. Asked what time we took out breakfast and had a fresh traditional home cooked meal ready for us at that time each morning. Only downside was that it was close enough to a nearby mosque that you’d get a daily wake up call at 5am when the praying vibrated the whole building.
