Riad Dar Karma

This stay was quite disappointing. While the riad itself has potential, the overall experience felt very limited and poorly managed.
There was a clear lack of communication from the beginning. We were never informed that meals had to be reserved before 10am, which resulted in us not being able to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the property at all. This is a basic expectation that should be clearly communicated to guests.
The atmosphere was extremely quiet to the point of feeling uncomfortable, and the staff seemed distant, almost intimidated or simply uninterested. There was no sense of warmth or hospitality, which is something you would normally expect from a riad.
Overall, it felt like we paid only for a room to sleep in, without any real service or experience. With more attentive staff and better communication, this place could improve significantly.

We had a wonderful time at this place. The staff was very friendly and highly attentive. We visited Marrakech in the beginning of March which meant that it was a little cool at night. We had a fireplace in our room and the staff put it on on our request every night — marvelous! The breakfast is great and has some variations every day. Special requests were always possible. We also used the Hammam and had a massage. Both were also great. The neighborhood is a 20 minute walk away from the more crowded touristy areas. We liked that because it meant that the nights were quiet and the place can reasonably be reached by taxis. Nevertheless, there are some great dining options and cafes is the direct neighborhood. We loved everything about our stay at the Riad Dar Karma. It is a quiet oasis in the midst of the noisy Kasbah outside. We arrived late at night, but the night manager took care of our luggage while sat back and enjoyed some mint tea and pastries by the pool. The rooms here are all quite unique, differing in size and decor. Ours was very comfortable, overlooking the pool. We met the manager, Naoual, the next morning. She was welcoming and friendly. She also is great at recommending and arranging restaurant reservations, drivers, tour guides, etc. We were helped by her multiple times. The rest of the staff are equally friendly and helpful, always checking to see if there is anything they can do for you. Breakfast is pleasant and plentiful in the small courtyard. The menu varies some each day, but I guarantee you won’t leave hungry. We also took advantage of the onsite hammam and rooftop terrace to receive a steam, scrub, and massage. It was the perfect respite after a day out touring. Given that we were leaving on a night flight, we had dinner at the hotel. It was delicious and reasonably priced, All in all, we had a very pleasant 5-day stay at Riad Dar Karma. Should we ever return, we will definitely stay there again!
