I just returned today from a stay here and I had a great time. I was warmly welcomed with some mint tea and was able to check in early as requested. There was some confusion over which room I booked, but this was resolved satisfactorily. The breakfast is perfectly adequate, fresh and filling — eating it on the rooftop terrace was lovely.
The location was perfect, minutes walk from the main square and Medina, a stones throw from the kasbah and on the edge of the mellah Jewish quarter. It's in a quiet side street but near a main road where you can get taxis. There are also lots of shops and restaurants nearby.
The bed was comfortable and the room was furnished well with a proper wardrobe. The bathroom had a large shower.
I think sometimes working with booking agencies can be difficult for hotels and I think that might play a part in some of the lower reviews.
I also think tourists need to be realistic about where they are and how much they are paying. For example I saw someone complain about not having an external window in their room. This is normal in a Dar or Riad bedroom, that's how these homes were designed. Instead the window will open to an internal courtyard our terrace. If you don't like that then there are many hotels in Guéliz. If you want a more lavish breakfast and luxury experience, you can easily find another riad for twice as much money that will give it to you. It's up to you as the tourist to do the research.
