Riad Barroko

The riad is in a great location, we walked out from the front door and had everything within a 10-15 min walk. The rooms were spotlessly clean, spacious and well appointed. Breakfast was wonderful, each morning we had something slightly different — everything was freshly prepared. The staff were brilliant — warm, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. It was a super break, I'd definitely recommend the riad and would happily stay there again!

We spent three amazing days at Riad Esmeralda and absolutely loved it! The riad itself is so beautiful and peaceful — a perfect escape from the busy streets of Marrakesh. The staff, especially Youssef and Mohammad, were incredibly kind and helpful, always ready with great advice and assistance. Their warm hospitality made our stay truly special.
We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the riad — beautifully prepared and full of flavour, served on the upstairs terrace. Everything felt personal and welcoming.
If we should point out one thing, we could have wished for a larger and better bed.
We would highly recommend Riad Esmeralda to anyone visiting Marrakesh. A real gem!

Riad Esmeralda is the ideal place to stay, offering private, ornate houses featuring intricate tilework, carved wood, and peaceful oases. This beautifully elegant Riad is situated in the heart of Medina in Marrakech, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its labyrinthine alleys, bustling souks (markets), and vibrant Jemaa el-naa square. Youssef, the Riad's manager, does an excellent job, expertly managing guests' accommodations, transportation, excursions, and restaurant recommendations. His prompt response and willingness to go the extra mile are truly impressive. I am thoroughly satisfied with my stay at Riad Esmeralda and would highly recommend this establishment to.

My daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights. What a fabulous place this is and the staff are amazing. I have never experienced a hotel stay like it.
Nothing is too much trouble.
The hotel is stunning and in a great location close to Marrakech center and many amenities.
On arrival we received a wonderful complimentary mint tea and in the evening if we were in the communal areas, were often offered coffee or mint tea by the amazingly kind lady,

An excellent ending to a 11 day tour around Morocco. While we stayed in some great places, and saw amazing things, Riad Esmeralda, and her exceptional team, were simply fantastic. From the moment we arrived, Youssef ensured we were well cared for in this perfectly restored Riad. He loaded points of interest on our phone, and was always present with a smile, and a cold water. Ishmael was our overnight person, and was smiling with coffee early each morning. This Riad is well located, and easy to access. Many thanks for the hospitality.

We have stayed 4 nights at Riad Barroko and are fully pleased with the time we spent there. We had a very warm welcome with tea and cookies from the kitchen ladies and the manager.
The room (room 1) has a very good functioning air-conditioning, towels are provided, no shower gel or shampoo but we did not expect it. Maybe would be nice to have just soap provided for washing the hands but we do not consider it as "obligatory". Bed was comfortable, room was clean, all good. The only negative point was: we could not close the doors separating the bedroom to the bathroom and therefore no intimacy while going to the toilet…
For the rest, very nice courtyard, pool and breakfast. Location as well, perfectly fine for us.
The highlight was the great service of the kitchen ladies, especially Bahija who is very kind and was very attentive to make all guests happy.

We’ve had an amazing stay here, four nights, in the most beautiful hotel, the staff are all amazing people, so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The whole hotel is stunning, it’s like a living art museum, with the traditional style wood carving, painted ceilings mosaic tiles…. The rooftop garden was my favourite place to chill, during the day, if you’ve had enough of the busy streets, you can relax up there, with traditional Moroccan tea, and a good view… catch the sun, and then go for a swim in the pool.
Breakfast was delicious, I fell in love with the homemade breads, an array of condiments…

This riad is absolutely amazing 🤩 with a swimming pool and rooftop and amazing rooms as well. Idris and all the staff were super friendly and helpful to get my holiday to a great start. Breakfast is decent too. Thank you to Idris and all the staff for making this holiday one to remember. Would definitely recommend this place and hopefully will be back one day 🙌🙏

Lovely riad, great location, amazing hospitality and beautiful and comfortable rooms. The rooftop terrace was very nice to sit and relax on. The breakfast cooked by 2 ladies was delicious every morning and more than we could ever eat! Mohammed was always very welcoming and gave us several suggestions on things to do. Yussef the owner was there everyday also ensuring our stay was perfect.

We didn’t book to stay here but our original place double booked us and this is their sister Riad. We had no expectations and loved the design of the interior and service. The communal area is stunning and very relaxing. It’s also amazingly quiet. The room is basic but with traditional decor. The shower is terrible, with low pressure, lukewarm water and hand hold only. The breakfast was incredible. Great location too, only a 15 minute walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa.

Lovely secluded location clean, friendly and staff are lovely to help. Well worth going to for price and location. They also have downstairs rooms with a downstairs toilet also for issues with walking or access so access to wall. Breakfast is always a good selection of items. The riyad has a rooftop seating area. The detail in the Riyadh is most beautiful with plenty of original features. All taxis can pick you up and drop you off at pharmacy El mosque so you can be collected and dropped off at the airport there so you're not wondering where you're going to be dropped off at. Please accept that when you are dropped off you will be going through back streets to get to the hotel. There is not direct hotel doorstep to taxi access, but it's a quick little walk and a wonderful little tour. The hotel being off and away from the main road means you're secluded and have silent stay and peaceful stay. Very much looking forward to going back at another time within this year.

A serene place. Really liked the morrocon decor, nice breakfast, friendly staff and clean rooms. I recommend to any individuals and families.

We had a wonderful stay at Rias Esmeralda — from start to finish. The exceptional service started a couple of days before we arrived with a welcoming message from Youssef. He offered a very useful and reasonable collection service from the airport which was well worth it.
On arrival, we were greeted personally by Yossef in this beautiful riad with mint tea. He helped to install apps on our phones with an excellent map which works offline.
The property itself is gorgeous with a central inner courtyard around a pool and very striking period features. It is also in a great location only a short walk from the Koutabia mosque and main square, Jemaa el-Fnaa.
A wonderful breakfast was served on the pretty roof terrace by Youseff and his gracious and helpful colleagues, Mohamed and Abdel Jalil. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them.
We look forward to returning to this lovely riad!

We had the best stay ever at this Riad. It’s like a tropical oasis in between the main square and Le Jardin Majorelle.
The Riad is decorated beautifully with tasteful decor, plenty of places to relax by the pool, and a large roof top terrace. The pool is clean and peaceful and Idriis was very welcoming.
We also enjoyed breakfast which was a traditional Moroccan offering of various pancakes with jam, butter, coffee & juice.
The best part of our stay was meeting Bejia (not sure how to spell her name) who cooks breakfast and maintains the Riad. She was super smiley and friendly everyday and made us feel so welcome.

Amazing! The Riad Barroko was beautifully presented. The manager Idriss and Lady cooking/ serving breakfast were very friendly and welcoming, they made the stay very homely feeling. The accommodation is beautiful, quite and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and served fresh every morning whenever you would like. A short 15 minute walk to the main old town square. Lots of local places to eat and shops to buy food from. I would highly recommend Riad Barroko.

Very beautiful Riad and very friendly stuff. Everyone who wants to experience a magical atmosphere should book this Riad.
It’s very peaceful and calm, you have even an option to wash your clothes and they give you the keys so you feel like home, so you completely independent. Do recommend!

If you want an authentic riad experience this is the one for you — we were led through a maze of narrow streets and through a thick wooden door to find a beautiful, traditional riad with lovely old rooms and a small pool. The service is friendly and helpful and the rooms are cool and clean. It's a roughly 20 minute walk to to the main square, which brings the benefit of being something of a sanctuary after a morning of crazy hustling-and-bustling. It's on the edge of the Bab Doukkala souk, which is much more local-orientated, and worth a visit in its own right. I must mention an incredible pizza place, Pizzeria Bab Doukkala, right on the edge of the souk (closest to the medina wall). It looks like little more than a shack but the family who run it produce the most amazing, fresh takeaway pizzas for the equivalent of around £1 each — ideal to zip five minutes back and eat poolside at the riad!
