Riad New Bahia

This is such a lovely family run riad in a great location — close to the center of the medina, but just outside so it's quieter at night. The family that runs the place is so kind, and were able to accommodate our gluten free and vegetarian breakfast requests. They have a nice hammam and spa on the roof as well, and the views of the city from the roof are amazing. Everyone in the riad was very quiet and we had the best sleep of our entire time in Morocco. Shukran!
PS I do not at all understand the bad reviews here, I think it's possible that people confused this place with Riad Bahia just down the street, but they are two different places. This family is so nice.

Our first time in Marrakesh was made even better by staying at the New Bahia Riad.
The Riad was great, very quiet, our room was lovely, the bed the comfiest we’ve ever slept in. The breakfast is delicious, different things are served day to day, by the friendly, helpful staff.
There is a lovely roof terrace which has good views. Fatima the owner, is welcoming, kind, and friendly and really.
Accommodating, we had a late night flight, she let us spend the day on the roof terrace, which also has a covered area to relax in. Also use of the downstairs bathroom.
We would recommend this Riad to anyone visiting Marrakesh. We will certainly return there.

Clean room, friendly staff, because it is a riad you will hear sounds from other people.
Overall fine stay.

Lovely staff that stays up late to receive you. Nice (2p) rooms with great beds, although the showers have a very small water output. The Riad itself is beautiful, and the breakfast is nice with various types of bread, eggs and jams. Would recommend!

Really nice and cozy place, made me feel like I’ve always know that place. The interiors look authentic, the staff is friendly and feels authentic, and the location is perfect and close to most of the main attractions in Marrakech.
The only thing I missed was the option to have more protein for the breakfast, for example some yoghurt or egg. On the other hand the breakfast was made individually and tasted super fresh and delicious. All in all very good value for the money.

I had an amazing stay. The owner and his wife were very kind and welcoming. I enjoyed the breakfast and conversations. The owner, Medhi explained the area and best places to go. I would book this riad again without a second thought. The location is perfect and accessible to the markets and entertainment areas. I had a wonderful time and cat wait to return. Very ideal for solo female traveler (s).

Disappointed as pictures are not really what it's like. There were bags of cement in the dining area, plus it was dusty and dirty. The other people that were overbooked complained to their agency and the owner was very angry saying it was bull****! This is no way to treat guests who pay to stay in your guest house. We were told we were double booked so owner found another Riad, he paid. The other Riad was spotless. But sadly Riad Bahia is NOT.
We asked for our money to be returned but we were told to take taxi back to them.
The bed was comfortable but this is the only good thing about this Riad, sadly.
It is not recommended to stay here. I would agree with others avoid at all costs. We have all had to pay to stay in a clean Riad. Very dissatisfied first visit to this country.

Room was dirty and smelly and felt very stuffy due to not having a single window! The manager (mehdi) was a very moody and rude character rite from the start as if he was doing us a favor by letting us stay there! You would be better off and more comfortable staying and sleeping in the local park! Seriously stay away from this place and avoid it like a plague. This place is advertised as a four star Riad but is actually a five star rip-off!

Before arriving, I have read multiple reviews of the place and was a bit scared of what is to come. Once we have arrived, our host Medhi, welcomed us into his home.
The whole time, he has helped us with any questions about the city and always explained to us where and what to do, to not be scammed or ripped off in regards to pricing of items we wanted to purchase. Medhi has provided us with all the trips for a very good price, these also being with pick-up from the Riad and drop-off right back.
The room was very nice and clean. You need to take in consideration that this is not a hotel, but someones home. Staying in a Riad is bringing you closer to the culture in Marrakech and how people lived for many years before. The whole Riad is very cosy and welcoming, as even Medhi is saying "Feel like home! "
If you have the chance to stay here, maybe you have the chance to also listen to Medhi play guitar, you will get chicken skin. Besides all, I have also made a friend in Marrakech.

At the Riad Bahia I made huge allowances for Cultural differences and the fact that I was staying in someones home.
The place is very run down compared to the pictures on the web site, housekeeping is very very poor.
We had paid room only in advance, I knew our plane landed at 9pm so phoned the day before to advise of our late arrival time. We arrived at 9.45pm straight from the airport. The Taxi had great difficulty finding the Riad Bahia taking us first to the Riad Bahia Salam.
We did not get offered any refreshment on arrival nor was any form of food or beverage available to purchase, I found this a poor sort of reception as they knew we were arriving late and claim on their site to have a restaurant among other things.
The area is a bit run down and on the outskirts so we did not feel comfortable about going out looking for food. We were given a bottle of water with the managements compliments. There is a glass fronted cooler cabinet in the dining area but it is empty and unplugged.
We requested breakfast for the following morning, due to some misunderstanding when we went out for it we were told we hadn't ordered it and had to pay in advance then wait 30 mins whilst the owner went to buy ingredients.
The food was passable.
Our room was directly off the dining area, we found this concept very disconcerting, for a number reasons (do you really want to be in bed or worse still the bathroom with a window opening six feet from someone eating their meal?

From the moment we arrived, the owner and his family were exceptional hosts. They made sure we were comfortable and settled, made sure we knew what to visit inside (and outside) Marrakech and most importantly spent time talking and getting to know you. Chatting about Morocco's history and learning more about certain cultural aspects were some of our most memorable parts of the entire trip. Also, the hotel itself was very comfortable. The stunning views from the roof terrace, little details all around the hotel and the surprisingly spacious rooms make it very worthwhile for the price.
Anyone on the fence for where to stay… look no further! I would wholeheartedly recommend staying at Riad Bahia if you are looking for a warm stay with lovely people!
