It was awesome! Would definitely go back! Victor in the main resort is the best ever, he is an excellent server! And all the guys in Luciano’s restaurant were awesome too — ask for Spanish coffee, it’s a show in itself watching them make it tableside! Great menu variety too! Excellent service and food.

Very quiet resort, we have been here 2 times and plan to visit again. EXCELLENT food 5 star. Menu's rotate and they will make you anything you want!

Good service except at breakfast this morning, had to ask for coffee 3 times. Not happy with construction noise, knew about that coming here but figured we could relax Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. Nope! still working. They should do the classy thing and offer all guests a good discount on their next stay. They let the towel game go on…

Would highly recommend doing all-inclusive. The staff was wonderful and the resort was very clean. Not a party resort. Great for families and couples looking to relax.

Hotel was nice, unfortunately the A/C didn't work for 2 nights out of our week long stay and it took them 2 days and several visits to our room to finally give up and switch our room. Beware of the time share sales pitch… they literally lied through their teeth about the whole thing and wasted a day of our vacation time.

Very beautiful location that is enhanced by the open architecture and professionalism of everyone working here. I've been coming here for over 5 years and I like that I see all the same names and faces each time. Javier is the main Jefe and he keeps it really high-end and well polished. The restaurants have authentic dishes using locally caught snapper, huachinango, and mahi, durado. The menus change daily so you can experience all kinds of great meals. Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced in the hospitality industry. Over a month ago, we booked a week stay starting a week from today along with airfare. We were just informed yesterday that the hotel is offering us a new room due to renovations which will make our room nearly unusable. Sunset Plaza Beach offered to replace our One Bedroom Suite, a full apartment like room with kitchen, to a Junior Suite at the Hilton which is not remotely comparable. Wh…en I called and spoke with the hotel, they agreed the room was not comparable and told me I could either take it or cancel for a full refund. I still have 4 plane tickets and 4 expedited passports in hand for this trip that I can't get my money back for. My options are to accept non-comparable accommodations or get a refund on my money. Of course, I'm now a week away from my travel date so finding something comparable on my own is impossible. The right thing to do would have been to transfer our reservation to somewhere that had a comparable room and apologize profusely for only cancelling a reservation 8 days before due to planned renovations. Our family spent the last month dreaming of spending time on our ocean view balcony, meeting Jennifer at the kids club, swimming up to the pool bar for a drink… You've shattered our vacation dreams and don't really seem to care a bit about it or us. So, book here at your own risk. It's a roll of the dice that might not land in your favor.

Excellent Resort to relax, the rooms are very comfortable, the service from all the staff is exceptional, it is a very quiet place, the food is delicious, although the menu is slightly varied but it is worth the all-inclusive package.

Is good joined that I do not understand that there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms only in the reception.

We just got back early this morning and this hotel was amazing. I wasn’t sure about the idea of having to order food for every meal but it ended up being the best part! Service was quick and we never had to wait around for a server at the pool. Ever. My daughter spent every free minute in the kids club with Jennifer and I had to make her leave to spend time with us! Jenn was so amazing wether it was swimming with her in the pool, making crafts, braiding her hair or playing at the beach in the sand. There was never a doll moment which gave me and my husband some much needed rest! Hope to be back next year. 5 star hands down.

One of the best hotels I have gone to definitely. You will not regret the all inclusive, efficient service at any time of the day. If you arrive at 4 in the morning there is no way to go to the kitchen to prepare some tacos haha… The best of all is the attention, friendliness and treatment of all the staff. That's the most valuable thing about this hotel.

Now we are staying at this hotel. All rooms with ocean view, service is great, food above all praises, all à la carte, can cook to your liking. Mostly holidaymakers from Canada and the USA, quietly, without night loud parties, but every evening there is a different musical program (blues, jazz, guitar or Professional Mexican orchestra). This hotel is more suitable for a couple of 35 + with pleasure again come to this hotel.

We just spent 2 weeks at Sunset Plaza. Amazing place. The staff are so amazing, friendly and hard working.
Our pool bar waiter Jose Louis is unreal. Spoiled us beyond explanation.
ALL The waiters are so attentive. Rolando, Manuel & Nicolas are 3 that took such amazing care of us. So very friendly. But there are too many to mention or remember all of them.
The pasta cooker always made up such amazing pasta dishes for my husband, as he never orders anything straight from the menu. Always changes things up. But he said it was the best pasta he had ever had.
The pizza (made by Juan Carlos) are to die for. We ate a LOT of pizza.
And you must try their wings. YUM!
The pool entertainer (Yedeph) is so sweet and such a hoot. She makes things so much fun.
Our butler Juan went out of his way. I was doing laundry one day, and he completely took over, told us to go relax. Our laundry was all dried, folded or hung up when we returned to our room. Isn't that going to far? WOW was all I could say.
The resort manager Javier is so wonderful. All you do is ask and he always has a smile on his face.
The rooms are so gorgeous. All ocean facing, clean, and very practical. Felt like home away from home.

Beautiful hotel with an amazing, friendly staff. The room is clean and the beds are comfortable. It's a more laid back hotel for people who want to relax but kids can have fun in the pools and the kids club as well. The food is also very good. Maybe not the greatest food but it's all included so I can't really complain about that. The beach is nothing to write home about but who needs the beach when you have 3 huge heated pools? I highly recommend this hotel.

Located between Airport and downtown. Resort is on the beach with all ocean facing suites/rooms. Beach furniture on the sand. Well maintained with exceptional staff. Every guest is treated as special. Staff is very accommodating. 4 unique restaurants. Different theme events W/show. Adult pool, huge general pool, soaking pool and a children's pool, 3 roof top hot tubs. Various activities. Great onsite Spa. Fantastic place.

I highly recommend this resort! The food was delicious, the service fast and friendly and the resort was immaculate. Special call-out to Luis Fernando and Nicolas in the deli and Francisco and Johni were great servers in the dining area/poolside. The gym equipment worked well, it was easy to book a kayak outing with Yerred and beach volleyball was available twice daily. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful stay.

This is a wonderful resort and me and my wife were so happy we honeymooned here. Excellent service, amazing food (except the sushi was a bit bland), wonderful drinks. It is also truly all inclusive, including the mini-bar in the room. All rooms did have ocean views as well, so all you really need to decide on when picking a room is the size.

The service was great. The male staff seemed to be more friendly then the female staff. Food was decent though they ran out of certain dishes. Restaurants we're open based on occupancy. The rooms were clean.

4 diamonds for nothing, bad service, very small, pool to small, beach shared, rooms very normal, Premium drinks? Where, here there is more that's all normal to be 4 diamonds. The Melia is better and cheaper.

Amazing customer service (Fernando was fantastic), decent food, great drinks! Side note: DON'T take the gray line. I can handle their rude behavior (received it from more than one representative), but I cannot tolerate the inconvenience that comes with their service. Take a taxi! Easy and WAY cheaper. Save yourself the headache. They are absolutely NOT worth it. All in all, Sunset provided an incredible experience for my partner and I. We certainly plan on coming back in the future (and using the taxi service).

Attended my brother's wedding at the resort, it was very well done with a beautiful ceremony. The food served was very delicious as well to top it. The only issue we had as visitors as compared to guests we couldn't purchase a 'pass' or something to be a temporary guest, instead we left our drivers licence at the door and as far as I know we could not participate in many amenities. I would highly suggest a day pass purchase so as visitors from another resort/rented condo could visit friends and family staying at sunset. Other than that it was very nice, amazing view, and a great resort.

This place was top notch. Food, rooms, and staff were great. Special shout out to Alberto our day time server, he was awesome. Also the other guys Osvaldo, Isias (eazy — E), and Johni were also very good. Just remember to tip your server.

It was our first time at an All-Inclusive hotel. We came here for my birthday and wasn't disappointed. Javier set us up pretty nice on the 15th floor. We could see the entire beach front and it was a great view. Juan E. Checked in on us most of the time just to make sure we were enjoying our stay. And, we even took a picture with Karina of the front desk. Overall, we enjoyed the stay and the food was pretty good. I would stay there again!

So far, it's been fabulous. The employees are fun and helpful. The facilities are nice. It's beautiful. The rooms are comfortable. They're not extravagant, but they all have balconies on the ocean side with amazing views.

We have stayed at Sunset Plaza twice and both times we were very pleased! We booked with them one other time but we were moved due to overbooking at resort. We were disappointed but Javier more than made up for it and ensured us that next time we booked with Sunset we would have a room. When we arrived this time we had been upgraded to the one room suite and had a bottle of champagne waiting for us. We enjoy the food very much, I am a vegetarian and my daughter has a nut allergy, and they made sure we were both accommodated. The service is definitely what keeps us coming back though. Everyone is friendly and the service is very personal. The waiters remember our orders, the groundskeeper brought is umbrellas into the pool every morning, and all the staff treated my daughter like a princess! By far my favorite person this time was Fernando in the kids center. He was incredible with my daughter, organized a birthday surprise for her, a Halloween party complete with trick or treating and a piñata for the children, and took the time to translate for her and make sure my child was included in all the festivities! He was amazing. We will continue to visit Puerto Vallarta and would not stay anywhere else.

Very clean inside and out. The grounds and pools are maintained very well. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Food was good and well presented. On the downside, the suite I was in was not well soundproofed. Lots of very young children so be prepared for the noise that goes along with young kids. This is a non smoking property with 2 areas for smokers consisting of seating for 4 people. A very noisy hotel right next door… seemed the loud partying and loud music went on poolside there from morning til night. Starting at 8:30 every a. M. For me, if in a quieter location and adults only this would be the perfect resort.

I'm currently on my honeymoon. Me and my wife booked at the Sunset plaza resort. The food is just ok, the drinks are good. They are not very strong though. The service here is amazing. Me and my wife were greeted upon entering the resort with a glass of champagne and a cold hand towel. I can't say enough about Rufugio. He's a butler and he is excellent! He set up a romantic night for me and my wife, by laying out rose pedals and lighting candles. She was so surprised and happy! If anyone's looking to travel to peurto vallarta. This resort is by far one of the more nicer resorts in the area and the service was amazing! Thank you Rufugio.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a cool beverage. Check in was a breeze. We were shown to our room. The buttler asked if we were celebrating any thing. I said no. After he left, I ran down to the lobby and aked if he could bring a cake. A few minutes later, room service rolled through the door singing happy bithday with a cake lit and a rose. My 6 year daughter old asked how I managed to pull this off. I just told her we have an easy button. His name Refugio. Out of all the vacatons we've been on. All I can say is WOW! Many thanks to all the hard working people at Sunset, Especially Luigi and Refugio.

Great resort. Staff extremely friendly. Food is lacking, for an all inclusive more than half if not all the good should be good. Definitely venture outside for good eats. Wish drinks were a bit stronger. Would definitely come back here.

We booked two rooms at the Sunset Plaza Beach Resort and Spa, all-inclusive. Upon arrival they told us that they were overbooked and they transferred us to Velas Vallarta. Definitely not the same quality of resort. We booked at the Sunset because it was close to downtown, but Velas was in Nuevo Vallarta and the beach wasn't really that nice. Javier Vergara is the manager of the Sunset Plaza Beach Resort, watch out for this guy. Make sure if you book a room here, that you actually have one.

Booked an ocean view suite with these jokers and upon arriving at the hotel the manager told us they were overbooked. He then promised to set us up with comparable accommodations at a nearby hotel. The "comparable" room was a tiny bottom floor studio with a view of the back of the adjoining hotel. Way to go Sunset Plaza. "You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them. " — — Jerry Seinfeld.

Very good hotel, has all the amenities, starts good service from the reception. Always ask for the all inclusive package, eat everything you can and whatever you want the 3 hours of food, breakfast, lunch and dinner. It includes open bar.

The water of the ponds is very cold.

This is a wonderful hotel and resort. The staff are extremely friendly and genuinely kind. They are also very well trained and disciplined. They will always stop whatever they are doing to get whatever you want. I read a few reviews about the food but I thought it was VERY good. The flank steak on barbecue night was one of the best I have ever had in my life. They mixed up the menu order and options every day so it didn't get repetitive. The room we had was a 1 bedroom suite and it was obscenely large (1268 square feet). This is not super expensive like at some hotels. It was part of our package. The building is very new. The pool is big and beautifully tiled with an infinity view out over the bay and city. There is a very smart and capable team running this hotel and they will handle any issues smoothly. I will go back for sure.

The Facilities are very nice, and respectably clean. The food is great. The staff is nice. Service is a bit disorganized, you can go from excellent service to no service in one meal. I rated it low for two reasons 1. Though the facilities are nice, it leaves an empty feeling there is no real personality to the experience. There are only small green areas amidst lots of sculpted concrete paths, no gardens, no areas to just sit and relax enjoying the atmosphere. 2. We stayed with the all-inclusive option, upon checkout the front desk appeared to get upset and almost pushy when we refused to pay for 2 beverages that we did not sign for, which as all inclusive we should have never been charged anyhow. This led to a discussion of "all inclusive ends upon checkout, even though you have not left the property yet you will be charged for anything you utilize". This left a very poor overall feeling of our experience as we had two hours to kill before going to the airport and had not eaten lunch prior to checkout. This was our 5th time staying in Puerto Vallarta and our first and last at the Sunset Plaza.

It is exclusively traditional cooking every meal. No buffets! No disappointments. Everything is a 4 diamond like it is rated. There is grwat hospitality and everyone is great. Will come back in a heartbeat.

The architecture of the hotel is modern and artsy. The staff was very personable and accommodating. My wife and I had a great experience here. We definitely recommend it to others.

Would definitely stay again! Complimentary Wi-Fi but needs range and speed boost. About my only complaint lol.
