DP Guesthouse

300.000 kip a night and very disappointing room. Noisy (could hear even the most quiet ding from the neighbors phone), hard bed and pillow, no warm water and not that clean. For 1/3 the price it would have been good.

Rooms were fine. Clean and with a private bathroom. A/C worked well too.
Location was great for people taking the slow boat too.

Good value for money 250kip for the room. We just walked up and they gave us the room. Clean, warm shower and close to the port.

The room was ok but facing a street where noisy motorcycles pass by. The window is built to the corridor so I couldn't open the curtain. The blancket was thin. The owner looked really unpleasant but luckily I didn't need to talk with. After a long boat ride I was tired to look for another hotel so I stayed here but next time I wouldn't stay here.

Two minutes from the boat dock, clean rooms, very soft beds if that is your thing.
Can be noisy as there is a locals bar/restaurant immediately opposite where they sat until midnight the nights I stayed. Most rooms open straight onto it.
Often no one around to assist and if there is they are often found to speak no European languages. Did not worry me but don't expect 5 star service, it's a bed and it's clean, as are the towels and bedding. Has shampoo sachets and soap and toothbrushes and paste if you have lost yours. Plenty of hot water and a large shower area that does not soak the toilet 🙂
If you don't mind a bit of noise and lack of privacy going in and out of your room then it's a good place to stay for 150000 Kip a night.

We stayed here as part of Shompoo Cruise deal, very close to the pier 2mn walk on the left, small room but new & clean with good working hot shower (it's very important for us as we traveled with young kids), the owner is very nice and helpful!
But they could have add the TV in the room though, because there nothing to do, after dinner you're kind of heading to bed directly, one of the reason to give these stars is the tasty breakfast! So overall great deal we had.

We stayed here overnight as part of our Top Deck accomodation. We were told not to expect much as it was going to be very basic etc but I was actually so impressed by DP Guesthouse and would say it was my favourite accomodation on the entire trip. The room was so clean and smelt amazing! The bed was very comfortable and the room had air conditioning which was more than I could have hoped for. The family who run the guesthouse were very sweet, kind and helpful. We had dinner here which was cooked by the husband, it was delicious and I still think about how good the chicken was. It’s a short stroll uphill from the river and at a certain time in the afternoon you can walk down to the water and see the elephants on the other side come down for a drink. If I come back to Laos I will definitely be back to DP Guest House and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean and safe place to say.
