Everyone at obi hostel was inviting, caring and friendly, I had a lot of fun at obi. A lot more then other hostels because they treated me so good Just like family which was nice being so far from home 🇨🇦 The facilities were also very good, very clean and looked after daily!
Thank you all for making my trip great! I willbe back!

I stayed at Obi Hostel with my sister for four days and can honestly say it was the worst place I’ve stayed in Japan — and this was my fourth trip, so I’ve been to plenty of hostels and hotels.
To start with the few positives: the gym was open 24/7 and surprisingly well-equipped for its size. I used it every day. The location is also decent — about a 20-minute walk to Akihabara and close to a subway station.
Unfortunately, that’s where the good part ends. There’s no real lounge area for guests, since the ground floor is basically a café for outside visitors until 11 p. M. That means there’s nowhere to relax or talk quietly — everyone ends up stuck in their bunks, which makes the dorms noisy and uncomfortable for anyone trying to sleep.
The beds creak with every little movement, you can hear people using the toilets, and the bunks get unbearably hot with no airflow at all. During my entire stay, I never once saw the showers or bathrooms cleaned. Sheets and towels weren’t replaced, and no slippers were provided, unlike every other hostel I stayed at in Japan. The beds and pillows were also extremely uncomfortable.
To make matters worse, the receptionist (Miyabi) was needlessly rude — when I politely asked where the nearest smoking area was, she just gave me a disgusted look and said, “I don’t smoke. ” Not exactly helpful.
Overall, it felt like a rip-off. Unless you desperately need access to a 24-hour gym and can’t find anywhere else, avoid this place.

Staff were lovely, just the hostel feels like a afterthought.
The dorm was very cramped. No room really to organise things. There seems to be permanent people also living in the dorm. It can be noisy as it’s one long room right next to the bathroom.
The person next to me in the bunk was playing audio from the phone all night so that didn’t help with my sleep.
The bathrooms felt small, only a few toilets and sinks.
There’s no really common area at all. They say you can use one of the tables in the restaurant below but it was always taken. So you can seem to only chill in the bed really.
Location was ok, it’s a quiet business area but close to the trains so you can go anywhere really.
Maybe good for one night if you know what to expect but just don’t expect the same facilities that you get at other hostels.

In respect to the price its a great place. I was able to get two nights of stay including breakfast and the gym usage for 48 Euros which is not bad. The gym is decent and you can use it 24/7!. It does get full though at around 7 pm. The location is perfect with a close subway station to the city. The breakfast was very healthy and tasty.
The only critique is perhaps the sleeping area itself. If you are willing so sacrifice a little bit of comfort than this is a perfect place to stay. Otherwise really good. There is convenient store nearby and the ground floor has a good siting area to get any planning or working done.

This was my first hostel experience and it was fantastic.
Very quiet, has a gym, free towel service, affordable washing machines, included soaps in the showers, and the host and hostess downstairs are both very well mannered and amicable to helping you find things nearby. It's in a less touristy location so you get to experience more of the non vacation Tokyo which is exactly what I was looking for.

This location is centered around 3 commonly used train lines where one of it is a direct line to the airport. There are so many Lawson and 7/11 and family mart within walking distance.
What even is more amazing is the staff. They are quite chill and speaks English very fluently. This is the first place that is okay with me taking a shower after I check out and after I stored my luggage there as my flight is at night. Shower rooms is too little imo, 2 for males and 2 for females I think.
I also noticed that this place has so many foreigners from all over places. If you want to make friends, this place makes it more accessible for you.
Disadvantage is there is no longue to hang out other than the sofa table area behind the reception.

The one thing I expect from a guesthouse besides sleep is to feel welcome and obi hostel failed at that.
The cheap price and presence of a gym help justify the military comfort and complete absence of space for the guests to relax, but not the hostility of the staff.
Plus:
Great location next to akihabara.
Gym is really good and cheap, I definitely appreciated my morning gym there. It has everything you need.
Beds are quite low comfort but for the price I'm not complaining.
Bad:
Don't expect to stay during the day unless you stay in your bed because you have to evacuate all the tables for the restaurant's guests.
The ambiance turns somewhat hostile approaching noon.
Lockers sometimes get jammed or something so you have to ask for them to unlock it. It happened to several people during my one night stay so it is probably something with the lockers.
Worst part:
Telling me that it's my fault the locker got jammed and that I got the numbers wrong and leaving without a word while I'm still talking was straight up disrespectful. I talked for 10 seconds, your patience can handle it.
When you're used to travelling in guesthouses you don't just forget the 4 digits pin you just set literally 5 minutes ago on the locker containing all your valuables, twice in a row in less than half an hour… I'd be aware if it was the kind of thing I do.

After having read the reviews I was very scared to come here but after my 3 night stay I can gladly say I didn't encounter any bedbugs etc. Everything seemed very clean and the rooms were more spacious than I expected, staff was friendly and helpful and the metro is right outside and connects directly to HND and NRT.

Excellent staff at this hotel. The facilities are very clean and modern. The lunch I ate there was delicious and cheaper than most food in Tokyo. The gym is very nice. They advertise bicycles but they don’t really have bicycles. Only a very expensive bike rental delivery service that I used. I had a man walk into the women’s bathroom on me naked which was not great. I think it was a staff member doing afternoon cleaning who didn’t knock or wait to enter. I can’t be sure that he was staff but either way I didn’t like that the sliding doors gave little privacy. The hostel is very close to the subway. They need to remove bicycles available and add closest metro stops to their listing in Hostelworld. Beds were clean but you are in a coed room with many many bunks.

Good things: The gym was very nice. Good equipment. Small but quite complete.
Bad things:
— The dorm room was extremely crowded. It was hot and stuffy at night, as there was no air conditioner. I had to open the window at the end of the corridor, but that helped only a little bit.
— The shower rooms were terrible — extremely small and dirty. There was no place for you to hang your clothes. And you would have to take the elevator to a different floor to use the showers.
— There is no lounge area during the day, as the first floor is used as a restaurant. So the only place for you to sit is in your capsule bed.
— There is no drinker water dispenser. To get drinking water, you have to walk to the first floor and ask the staff at the restaurant to fill your water bottle for you. It’s a hassle.
Overall I think that the hostel is in a good location and the gym is a good selling point, but the management of the hostel is poor. If given more attention, it could be much better run than this.

I’ve stayed in many hostels and this one is too crowded and hot. 24 beds are crammed into a space that should hold half that many. The air was stuffy and I was worried about airborne illness as one of my neighbours had a cough. It was too hot to sleep but the only cover was a very thick blanket.
They made me prepay my three-night booking, and when I checked out after one sleepless night the staff made me wait 30 minutes before telling me they would not give a partial refund.
If you try this place, make multiple one-night reservations so you can avoid this problem.

I stayed at Obi Hostel a week ago. I stayed there only for one night in the 5th floor hostel room, and the next day morning I discovered multiple BEDBUGS on my sheets and on the wooden walls, and they were full of blood! The next day I developed a serious allergic reaction in my skin and am still suffering after a week. I'm surprised that there are no other reviews mentioning this issue.
I contacted the hostel and they were nice enough to take responsibility regarding this matter. So my advise is, if you're planning to stay here anytime soon, better check with the hostel staff whether this issue is resolved or not! I have nothing against the facility but It would be wrong to put other travellers at risk which is why I decided to mention this in a review.
Apart from my bad experience I think its an otherwise good budget option for a stay in Tokyo. The location is super convenient, and the staff was quite helpful.

Cosy hostel with well equipped 24/7 gym. Great for travellers looking for budget stay but also don’t want to compromise on your fitness routine while on holiday. The cafe has various protein loaded menu as well.

The convenience of the location probably depends on where you want to go. Nonetheless, the place is kept in excellent condition. I placed 4 stars on rooms with the hope that the management will be able to do something about sound proofing of the individual sleeping spaces as relying on earplugs may not always be enough.
