Stayed here with a group. Loved this place, nice quiet location. Excellent Japanese style room.

The traditional style Japanese room, community bath (don't worry, you have a private bath as well), free breakfast, and ukiyoe prints all give it a very traditional feel. It is like an inn from the edo period. It is not massive or overly fancy, but it is exactly what it should be, with lots of style, very clean, and comfortable. Definitely a refreshing oasis from the modernized and busy Tokyo feeling.

There was a massive peice of poo in our toilet and it made the whole room stink. The only good thing was the free Wi-Fi.

The Edoya hotel was great at my second visit there too. It was even better, it was cleaner and the Wifi was really good. The staff's Englisch is quite well. Small problems were solved really fast and the big ones were handled. The breakfast got better but it has still limited choices and sometimes is really crowded. But it served us quite well. We will stay there again and again.

The traditional Japanese breakfast is very authentic, although the content is similar every day. But it's delicious.

Excellent service, rooms are clean and comfortable and it's less than 10 minutes from Akihabara station.

It's a cheap place and that has its pros and cons.
It has a decent onsen, the room was relatively large and the breakfast had plenty of variety.
The big cons is that it's generally quite old. Our shower needed an urgent reform…
If you are not very exquisite you can serve.

As always magnificent, although the facilities are old, the treatment is unbeatable and the bathroom with Rotenburo on the top floor is a marvel after walking all day.

Great if you are looking for a low cost ryokan, without worrying a lot about the space or the cleanliness. It has a public bathroom on the top floor with a Rotenburo.

The entrance, lobby and waiting area are full of Japanese style, with free coffee and tea available at the check in counter.

Japanese-style and Western-style breakfast, the taste is good. The room area looks old, may the life form different, the spatial disposition also appears to be relatively unreasonable.

The location is ideal, next to Akihabara. The rooms are cozy, the futons very comfortable and the site is perfectly clean. The deal is very nice and polite. Highly recommended!

Preferential accommodation prices, suitable for those who want to save the accommodation in the tourist, into the room first check the equipment is not a problem, there are problems as soon as possible with the counter reaction.

Hotel in perfetto stile tradizionale ryokan, cioè con futon in camera, bagno seduto e tutto quanto. L'ambiente è ben curato e ti fa vivere proprio la vera esperienza giapponese, il personale è molto disponibile e la colazione offre anche qualche piccola alternativa che si avvicina agli standard europei, oltre alle classiche pietanze giapponesi. Piacevole anche il piccolo centro benessere sul tetto, con tanto di vasca calda all'aperto. L'unica cosa leggermente fastidiosa a mio avviso è la grandezza delle camere e dei bagni, che sono estremamente piccoli, ma probabilmente sono negli standard per il Giappone.

This is our third visit to Hotel Edoya, and as always, we are very pleased with our stay. We booked a Japanese style room. Clean and comfortable. The free breakfast is the highlight of our mornings. You can also order food to be delivered to your room at a limited time during the afternoon/evening. Staff is pleasant and accommodating. There is a onsen on the 6th floor that we have yet to try. And there are laundry machines on that floor as well.

An unparalleled situation between several neighborhoods with an incredible life. Close to many metro stops. The service super friendly and always willing to help.

Nice ryokan in the heart of Tokyo, near Ueno and Akihabara, with plenty of stations within walking distance that cover about a dozen different lines. The place looks and feels old, but that's part of it's charm in a way, if you want a modern hotel then this isn't the place for you. A typical Japanese breakfast is always included, the room prices are very low considering you're next to some tourist-oriented locations and all sorts of amenities are included: anyukata for sleeping, bath sets and hot baths on the top floor, all for free.

Non friendly, didn't want to help us book a bus ticket by phone. They tried to avoid helping us as much as they can. Don't recommend.

Big and comfortable Japanese style room. The reception was perfect, and the onsen is available for men and women (separated). The one for men includes a sauna. Recommended. Ps. The receptionist is a very kind woman that speaks good Spanish.

The best Ryokan I've ever visited! No small children, and free breakfast. (Children are allowed, but they rarely book here) There is also free Wi-Fi, a very comfortable lounge and a tea cermony room. Plus an outdoor bath on the 6:th floor and a balcony where you can enjoy the beautiful night sky.

Beautiful room for a reasonable rate. Located close to Akihabara and some cozy restaurants.

The best corner to rest after a hard day shopping by Akihabara. They even have a Spanish-speaking receptionist (in the mornings). It is our special corner for Spanish geeks in Tokyo. Very nice and very familiar. Not to mention the Ofuro of the last floor.

Japanese-style hotel, space than other Tokyo hotel spacious, each room has a private bathroom, but the top floor of the public soup House to enjoy the Japanese bathing culture, the price is reasonable, near several subway stations, can hardly find no reason to dislike!

Rooms are a little small but I haven't stayed anywhere else in Japan so it's possible that that is normal. It's very close to some interesting places. The staff is friendly too.

Very close to everything. The owners were very nice and spoke enough English that we had no trouble checking in or out as well as understanding where things were. The sento was small but a nice addition to the stay because it was pretty empty for most of it. Our suite was like a really comfortable small apartment with a TV, shower/bath, good size closet and a okay bedroom area.

Walking distance to Akiba and Ueno. Traditional style with hot spring bath. Highly recommend for foreigners.

A very good japanese style ryokan for a few days: + the staff was very helpful and speak good enough english + the facilities were good; very nice bathroom and comfy futons. The toilet was a wee bit on the small side though. + you have two main metro lines nearby as well as akihabara + the free japanese/western breakfast buffet was excellent + price for value — it's on top of a hill, so expect some sweat if you're walking from ueno with some heavy baggages! Ps: we didn't have time to try them, but the restaurant beneath the hotel is said to have amongst the best soba in tokyo!

My favorite hotel in Tokyo. I have already stayed here 5 times 6 times that I have gone to Japan and will repeat. I always choose Japanese room with tatami and it rests of luxury. The breakfast is good, but if you arrive late are missing many things and not usually reset, otherwise great.

So you want the scenery… This is the place need you. 5 min walk from the mouths of subway this Ryokan hotel is a great location for visiting the North of Tokyo.
The rooms are large and offer all the services of a classic hotel (Kettle, tv, fridge, dry hair, storage). As it is a ryokan we sleep on a futon in the floor.
The only problem is that the hotel is in its own juice and starts a bit old. This feels and shows. This is not disturbing in itself, since it comes in this kind of hotel to be exotic, but it leaves a certain sensation of old. In fact it feels with the occasional visit of little Japanese cockroach ;)
Scenery internet is not available in the rooms and is only available in the part common to the DRC. And like all go at the same time the network is not very fast. (Especially when you have student groups who swear by Facebook)
To compensate for hot drinks are available as well as of many info on what to visit.
The staff speaks good English and is very professional.
Breakfast is Japanese and is very full and varied.

The hotel is cheap, and the building is kind of old but it's well kept and it adds to the feeling of being in a typical japanese accommodation. Breakfast is included, and it's a traditional japanese breakfast with rice, smoked fish and so on. Rooms are pretty spacious compared to the western styled hotels, and the staff knows English pretty well so you won't have problems booking a room and asking for help once you're there. It also has hot baths on the top floor, including an open air bath, which is must-try when traveling in Japan.

Good hotel with reasonable rate. I checked it tripple big room with futon with Japanese style, free breakfast and cost only 119$. There is Sento (public bath) at 6th floor and you can experience it free. Recommended. Receptionist is 24/7 so very convenient. Staff help me to call taxi and tell taxi driver where we want to go at 5am. Be aware it locatea uphill so make sure you are able to walk uphill with heavy luggage.

Great hotel Ryokan for spending a wonderful nights in traditional Japan-style rooms with tatami mats for any room and futon as sleeping.
In every room there are kimono "by night" to relax in comfort while you enjoy the green tea always available in the room.

Hotel very well located in the city of Tokyo. It should take into account that the city is so large that it is hard to be close to everything. But we were quite right with this hotel as there are about thousand restaurants, bars, places for drinks, food courts, shops. An ideal location. It is also very near a station of the Japan Raill which is ideal for getting around the city.
The rooms are very nice, with two distinct areas, the bedroom and the living room. All pure Japanese style! The bathroom is also traditional.
If you stay more and five nights at the hotel they have promotions as for example a dinner free at the restaurant of the hotel.

I've been in this hotel back in April and had a wonderful stay. Were I to go back in Japan, I'd definitely stay here again. The staff is very polite and helpful, and it also offers you any sort of commodity; we also got our luggage checked in when staying in Kyoto without any kind of problems. It's also quite cheap for what you get, especially taking into consideration the Hotel is right by the Ueno park, Okachimachi and Akihabara JR stations; that also means near this hotel you'd find every kind of shop and restaurants, This hotel offers a sauna, open bath, a relax room, free Wi-Fi in the lounge, tea room, free breakfast during early morning, and you can also order lunch and dinner to your room; there are also vending machines.

I loved this hotel. The staff was very friendly, it is super cheap, well located, and the breakfast every morning was great. I wish I was there right now.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in October 2012. It is difficult to fault this hotel. The rooms are traditional japanese style so if your a tourist it should be what you want to experience. It is only a few minutes from many tourist attractions, restaurants, railway stations and other places of interest. There is a downside to this place which people who are elderly or have mobility problems should be aware of and that is the hotel is located on a somewhat steep hill. The only other thing is that if you have a car the parking is cramped and difficult to access if there are 5 or more cars parked there. Having said that the staff will help you with that problem if you cannot manage it yourself. Apart from the above 2 issues I would highly recommend this hotel to the budget travellor.

I ' ve been there last year december with my family. No other place like this check in 1200 check out 1200 with breakfast complimentary and everything you need in room.

It's authentic. I'll give you that. Free internet in the lobby. If you want to stay in a cheap Ryokan near Akihabara, this is the place to be. It's only five minutes from here. TV channels aren't great, the internet is pretty slow (I am from America and had to change some settings, too). There was also a computer and printer in the lobby (I used it to print out Giant's tickets). If you are looking for a more authentic experience, you'll really enjoy it. The showers had plenty of hot water. I really liked the look and feel of my room. I upgraded to the free complimentary breakfast, and it was great. The morning buffet had a lot of good stuff. Every five nights you also get a free dinner, which was also great. It was a five minute walk from Yushima Station, and there was a seven eleven nearby. A Mcdonalds is pretty close too, as well as a couple Japanese fast food places. Hometown diners dot the area as well, so you should be able to find good stuff to eat. Ueno Park was 10-15 mins walk away (a nice walk), Akihabara about 5-10 to really get into it. Both of them have big train stations, and depending on where you are for the night you might goto either of them on your way back home. All in all I'm very happy I stayed here. The people were nice, but we might find a place that's more "connected" next time. If that dosn't bother you, then by all means investigate.
