A very comfortable and relaxing resort. Older style, but has everything you need for a chill getaway.

Booked 1 night here to treat my wife and I to something fancy during our 1 week trip. The hotel is situated on a hill surrounded by lush greenery and is fairly isolated.

We stayed at Gora Byakudan in Hakone for two nights, and our experience was truly unforgettable, largely thanks to an outstanding staff member named Tran.

Amazing experience. Cannot recommend staying here enough. We spent 2 nights in Gora, one at another ryokan for same price, and Hanaougi was superior in every aspect.

One of the most beautiful and memorable hotels we have ever stayed at, with service to match. Everything from pre-arrival preparations to checkout transit was made so easy by the staff.

We stayed three nights at Hotel Indigo Hakone and had a wonderful experience. It is extremely comfortable and thoughtfully designed.

Stayed in the Sakura room, amazing. Great food! So many new things I got to try. The staff is amazing and very kind, friendly with english travelers who may struggle with the japanese language.

We had a lovely stay here on every level. We’ve stayed at many five star facilities around the world, and would recommend this to anyone. We are puzzled by some of the other reviews on this website.

This ryokan is gorgeous. We made reservations for the free shuttle from Odawara Station to the ryokan. To find the shuttle bus, exit the West Exit to the buses. The Karaku bus is clearly marked.

We stayed in December 2024. The resort is old but well maintained.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. The front desk staff were friendly and helped receive and forward our luggage. It's a flat, easy walk from Naka-Gora cable car stop. The onsen was lovely.

Our stay was truly memorable, especially because of the **private onsen experience**.

Rooms were big and comfy. The onsens were very nice and private (have to reserve in advance but the room to onsen ratio is low so never an issue). Food here was very good and filling.

We spent two night here on a trip through Japan. We wanted something quiet after Tokyo, and this was perfect. The staff was incredible! They did everything they could to make the stay great.

Amazing service and beautiful rooms. The shared onsens bring zen to your life and the private, in-room onsens bring peace and quiet.

This place was amazing! We stayed for 2 nights and were in room 203. The service was amazing. This was a really nice place to slow down and relax on our trip.

Breakfast is solid, a mix of western and Japanese. The rooms were very clean and surprisingly spacious.

The resort is very near to Gora station. Having read previous reviews here, we came prepared with small luggage. Thank goodness because our room was at the top level and there is no lift!

Nice place to stay. Not much around but we made do.

The apartment is well equip, clean and bright and airy. The rooftop has a nice view to enjoy the sunset together.

The views are spectacular from your room, each with its own private Onsen on the balcony.

Incredible staff, meals and rooms. The mineral baths on the balcony are awesome. The room design and appointment is all that is good about Japanese hospitality.

Located a short walk away from Gora station, however it is up a steep slope so not so great if you have luggage. There is a convenience store nearby as well as a few restaurants.

It takes a bit of walking to reach the ryokan, but the area is quiet and peaceful.
The outdoor onsen is excellent and feels very authentic.

Very cozy and quiet getaway spot. The staffs are kind, and the food is amazing! Private outdoor bath is available for reservation, and is very comfortable.

Loved that no shoes were allowed in the hotel. We enter the foyer and we put our shoes in a shoe locker. The floors were soft and clean.

We stayed for 2 nights. Check in was efficient and smooth with no wait. The room was large and spacious. There were four in our party and two double beds and three futons were supplied.

Yes this hotel is old, but that just adds to the charm. The rooms are old and some things are a bit damaged but everything is clean and the beds are nice.

I was able to spend a comfortable time in the very large living room.
I couldn't use the balcony because of the rain, but I would like to use it next time I go.

I used it with a friend. In the spacious living room, we were able to relax and gather together both at night and in the morning. The bathroom was also spacious and felt very comfortable.

I had one of the best time in this place during my Japan trip in Dec 2026. The hotel situated at the back of Gora station which requires staircase walk hence beware of heavy luggage.

We had some of the best food I have ever eaten at Hotel Gorakon.
With it being close to the station, I had worried about noise at night. Yet, neither I nor my wife woke up to noise at night.
