Very nice. Old but comfortable and clean. Staff very nice and helpful.

I stayed overnight after booking using a SmartBox. The stay had practically only a couple of sore notes; one of these are the stars. The hotel is a 3-star, but I wouldn't call it that. It is inside an apartment building and overall resembles much more a maximum 2. Having said that I was very satisfied, as the room, although small, was clean; the bathroom, although without a bin, was also clean, as were sheets and towels. There is a TV, air conditioner and fridge in the room. Staff helpful and friendly. Rich breakfast buffet. In short, the overall assessment was very positive, I felt good and absolutely satisfied for the weekend. In relation to the stars I point out that someone might be disappointed, believing to book a real 3 star, that's all.

This is the worst hotel that we have ever been to. It is more like a youth hostel. I feel cheated. I am never using wowcher again. The staff were good and friendly but the room was so bad that we vacated it within hours and moved to somewhere else. There was hardly enough space to walk. A washbasin right next to the bed! Most Uncomfortable beds. Toilet and shower in a space not large enough for one of them. No kettle. Too far away from any attractions. I have no idea how this hotel has better reviews.

The staff was friendly and… that's it. The rooms were outdated and inconsistent, some rooms were ten times better than others, some had loud AC boxes while others had modern AC and some had no AC. The beds were uncomfortable and the bathrooms don't even have proper doors on them. Some rooms had fridges… with nothing in them and the room I stayed in had one leaking. Taking showers would result in water covering the floor. In short, the hotel is terrible and was one of the worst experiences I've had. The staff was nice though.

I don't know what all these idiots at the top are on about or smoking. The Hotel Athena reception & staff have been brilliant. Couldnt do enough for us… Immediately offered to help with our luggage. Helped arrange transport. Breakfast was more than ample. We bought a couple mugs for our tea at the reception staffs recommendation & each staff member made us any amount of tea we asked for at any time of the night or day, even insisting delivery to our room… The memory foam mattresses & pillows made sleeping a dream Thank you for the amazing time Hotel Athena. Will definitely be back.

It's a perfectly normal hotel. For my purposes, I totally fit. The area is comfortable, the subway is nearby.

Lovely little hotel. Warm, friendly and everything you could want for a few nights stay. We would definitely recommend to anyone and would love to stay again. Clean, bedding/towels changed daily, lovely breakfast each morning, friendly and really helpful staff and a comfy bed.

We just stayed last week for 5 days. + if you leave the key at the reception cleaning is done daily + very close to market, metro and bus stations and also there are lots of places to have a drink + clean sheets and pillows — misinforming website THE PICTURES OF THE ROOMS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE TRUE MAYNE FOR 2 ROOMS. I really think they should be checked by the authorities — it is a very big difference from what you think you buy and what you actually buy. — the Wi-Fi doesn't work — even if active the connection is better on roaming data — the elevator is broken — they said that it was broken for 5 months, but I saw reviews from 2017 and they mentioned as well the broken elevator, which leads me to… — the staff lie to you with no shame; I know they received good reviews, but I would have appreciated more if they told the truth and not play dumb (although I think this is normal for italians in general, according to other experiences we had with services in general) — no breakfast included — you have to buy it — no air conditioning in the room as presented on the website — the single rooms are actually some kind of biger closets — the pictures from the website are actually from a super double room. There is a queen bed, a bathroom but very small — if you are claustrofobic you might have panic attacks. Also, the washing basin is in the room, not in the bathroom. Very, very disapointing-it's barely suitable for a child, let alone for an adult.

When I arrived here I couldn't find the place. The hotel is actually the 1st and 3rd floors of an apartment building. Elevator: out since early 2017 Wifi: 1 out of 5 days working Room: extremely small Cleaning: bathroom always wet, leaking from the toilet. Sheets changed daily, not sure about pillows, though… The closet almost fell on me when I tried to put clothes inside. Also… it stinks! TV was smaller than an iPad.

Simply furnished Hotel. Small rooms, which is quite common in Rome. But very clean, super friendly staff and the breakfast for €5 is more than okay.
Especially the location is good. Many restaurants and cafes… and a very good bus connection to the city centre.

Hotel located in a good area, as very close to bus and metro stops. Great price. Nice staff, but the rooms are old, and in some respects poorly cared for. Also during the night you are disturbed by music and loud that come from the surrounding rooms.

My colleagues and I often lean on the Athena because the value for money is great. Super Central Area but affordable prices, rooms are quite large but always clean, breakfast plentiful and staff more than qualified. Recommended!

The hotel is a decent place to stay in. If you are more than two people in one room you won't be provided with free breakfast. This was not shown during booking, only when I printed the booking it was shown. There is also 4€ per night per person city charges that was also not shown on the booking. You will only come to know about it when you are there. Most of the staff was very friendly therefore 3 stars. As the breakfast was also pretty mediocre.

3 star Hotel, simple and clean, without too much pretensions. Great breakfast with big choice of products. Located in a quiet and youthful area within walking distance of Metro B line and bus stops. Qualified and helpful staff. Only the double room is too small (and so hot), but still has a small balcony.

Economical, away from the subway. Clean and spacious. Good quality V/s price.

Great experience. The staff was very helpful. The rooms are ok, don't expect luxury. It is the perfect choice for people who travel all day long and need only a place to sleep and have a nourishing breakfast.

Best budget hotel in Rome! It is located close to central bus and metro stations. Friendly personnel, clean rooms and full breakfast are some of the highlights of this place. Not to forget, the city is a real beauty!

Simple but very clean and very friendly, the only thing not speak anything Spanish.

Location is ok for the price, rooms are dated and very basic as you'd expect. The biggest problem is plumbing in this hotel. For some reason, whenever anyone opens the tap or shower on the floor, there's a squeking sound in the taps and pipes in the room which is loud and unpleasant. I couldn't sleep because of the noise which was regular, even in this low season. Consider how bad it would be when hotel is fully occupied. This would be unacceptable if you're with kids.

Super friendly people. Simple and very clean place! Located in the university area, pizza dirt cheap right in front! Near the. Party area… I loved it!

Overall, I was very happy with the stay at the hotel Athena, however I have to make minor swabs in the room furnishings. Unfortunately the bed was not quite as comfortable as hoped and the separation to the toilet only a thin sliding door, therefore a point deduction. Location: The location was OK, one was about 15min from the nearest metro station and even on foot just 30 mins from the main train station rooms: small relaxing room which was perfect for two people. As already described, smaller prints in the exhibition. Service: The service was really great. 24/7 reception with key custody. Every day the room was cleaned. I can't say anything about food because we didn't have any meals. Extra: You have to calculate that you have to pay €4 tax per person per day if you stay in the hotel. All in all we were very satisfied:)

Room is small. Staff at reception is insisting that a single bed can occupy 2 person. TV is not working. Not recommended even for a budget traveller.

I'm stuck in a room with my family of 5. There is hardly any space with 2 room's.

Super friendly staff and helpful old and shabby rooms. I paid 50 euros for a room with a sink in front of the bed, no bedside table and a TV crumbling. Cleaning not received. Elevator under seizure.

It's basic, a bed a shower n toilet and a wardrobe, plus a telly, (channel 27 for English). Staff are amazing.

I stayed one week there. I knew before that I won't expect the comfort of a 5*-hotel, because I didn't book one. The stuff was friendly and helpful every time I spoke to them. Fresh towels every day. I slept well in my bed. My room was clean and it was cleaned every day. The windows kept the streetnoise out of my room, the heating went well. The hotel is just 10 bus-minutes away from the central station, which means you get quite fast to every place in Rome you want to go, but in the evening you don't have to pay high prices for food. Take away-pizza, sushi and icecream-parlors are in the corner for really reasonable prices. The only negative thing I have to mention are the one-way-plates for breakfast … I'll book there again.

Nice clean place, above average breakfast and customer service. Nice strong shower. Single room is pretty small. Close to transit and live music.

Gut angebundenes Hotel, zu Fuß etwa 25 Minuten vom Hauptbahnhof entfernt. Bus fußläufig erreichbar. Zimmer sind einfach, aber sauber. Handtücher werden täglich gewechselt. Rezeption ist 24h besetzt.

Rooms that do not cause any discomfort. Nearby shops and friendly staff are the strong points of the structure.

Very clean, towels changed everyday, rich breakfast; quiet area, suited for city break, close to the Metro and buses. Recomended for couples!

July 2015. Hubicacion to 1500 meters of the centers of attraction, 700 metres from Rome tiburtina railway station, the neighborhood very nice university area, all kinds of shops supermarkets, bookstores, bars, everything you need, means of transport at 100 feet. EXCELLENT staff! computer available, free Wi-Fi, room very good comfortable, bed comfortable, bathroom good, picture window, closet, table, chair, TV and stand fan, good hygiene, change of towels. Access clean, cafeteria to repertir milk, coffee tea yogurt, croasant, bread, butter, sweets, juices, cold cuts, salchicas salty food, very good and very clean. Relationship quality-price, family. If you come back, we liked it very much and looked after us excellently. We are from Spain born in Argentina, couple, 55 and 57 years old.

Due to my job, which forces me to a life as a commuter, I would often have to find a room to sleep without visiting the hotel first, and in fact very often I repented of choice. Last year, however, I stumbled upon Athena, which has no equal in terms of value for money, is by far the best. Despite being a 3 star hotel, and despite the cheapness of its deals, offers all the facilities you could want. 12:00 am are open, as well as the bar (free coffee at all times), free Wi-Fi in all plans, there is a garage under and the rooms are clean and large. The staff finally deserves to be mentioned, always ready to help you and tears that smile that you really need in the evening after a day's work! Good.

Good value, even if the service is just and the poorly ventilated bathroom.

Dirty rooms. Lights would not turn off. Trapped in malfunctioning elevator for 30min. Broken shower stall that was dangerous getting in and out. Breakfast was day old bread and salami slices. Sheets and towels were just put back wet and dirty day after day. I felt like I was being punished by the meeting organizers who put us there. We kept having to ask that the wireless internet be turned back on all the time — Sure it was free (when it was on that is).
