Great place all staff are supported and friendly. Specifically Mr. Ismaeel the relation manager very kind and professional.

A few days ago, as I was checking out, I took the elevator. Suddenly, the electricity cut out, or something else went wrong. The elevator started falling rapidly before it hit something and came to a stop. It took me a moment to process what had happened. I waited, hoping the power would return.
When I tried to open the doors, I was shocked to see a wall in front of me—the elevator had fallen to the lowest level, beneath all floors. After a while, the electricity finally came back. In a state of panic, I started pressing different buttons, desperately trying to get out. I tried — 1, then 0, and after what felt like an eternity of fear and uncertainty, the elevator finally took me back to the ground floor.
I was beyond relieved to make it out safely. But what shocked me even more was the hotel’s response. When I reported the incident to the receptionist, he simply told me that I shouldn't have opened the door—without offering an apology or even checking if I was okay. It felt like I was being blamed rather than reassured.
This was, without a doubt, the craziest hotel experience of my life. I would never stay here again—even sleeping on the street would be a better option.
Honestly, I’m wondering if I should take legal action for the distress and panic this caused me.

The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly, but they need to upgrade the rooms and also the food was not in the level of 5 star hotel.

Clean rooms, moderate buffet. I find it Expensive. However, the biggest downside is PARKING. They will not allow you to park in shade because they often say its reserved only for VIPs when I argued that all customers should be treated royal as the name implies they answered a stupid question by saying VIP means management. Imagine managers do not allow visitors to park near the entrance (and n shae)

The food is amazing, I went too hotels a lot but the food in Van Royal hotel is the best, so delicious.

Rotana is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in the city, The location is fantastic, as it’s close to everything you might need, the service is top notch, the rooms are modern, clean, and spacious, providing both comfort and luxury, I highly recommend to anyone visiting Suli!

So bad. Dirty and old rooms. Very bad food, only nice training rooms. The treatment is very bad. It is not suitable for tourism, organizations or business travel. I do not recommend it. It is preferable to any other hotel. Two stars is more than it deserves.

My recent stay at the Van Royal Hotel in Erbil was a delightful surprise. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the hotel's central location, right in the heart of the city. This made it easy to explore Erbil's sights and shops without needing extensive travel.
The true highlight of the Van Royal, however, was its staff. Everyone I encountered, from the reception desk to the housekeeping crew, was incredibly friendly and helpful. They were always willing to answer questions, offer recommendations, and ensure my stay was as comfortable as possible.
The room itself was a haven of cleanliness. The daily housekeeping service kept everything spotless, and the amenities, like a comfortable bed and fresh linens, made for a relaxing stay.
Mornings were a treat thanks to the hotel's delicious breakfast spread. They offered a variety of options, ensuring there was something to satisfy every taste bud. This was a fantastic way to fuel up for a day of exploring.
Overall, I highly recommend the Van Royal Hotel to anyone visiting Erbil. The combination of friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, a tasty breakfast, and a central location makes it a perfect choice for any traveler.
