Grand Whiz Hotel Bromo

This hotel was the dirtiest I have ever stayed in. There was mold in the bathroom beyond belief and the pool was unfit for swimming due to mold/mildew. The staff was passive at best. The food and drinks were a big disappointment for our entire group.

Dirty, noisy and too light.
Our room was lit up all night from the outside lights. I couldn't tell the difference between them and the sun in the morning.
Noise from neighbours, staff in the hallway and the pool restaurant all night long.
The bed was rock hard. The first room we got was dirty. As if no one had been in there in months with dust and what ever had fallen from the ceiling into the sheets.
Also expensive compared to the rest of East Java.
Over IDR800K.
Not worth it for an uncomfortable night being woken all night long.
Dead bugs being carried away by ants everywhere in the room.
I could go on.

Not the greatest hotel we had in Java. From the begin you feel it's really just a placé to find a bed for a short night before going to Bromo.
The room really need refurbishment. Not only because of the smell of cat pee but also due to the global standard of the room. The final point was the towels… the white color already turned in some sort of grey with a really nice smell…
For the quality of sleeping, it would be great too… for the first part of the night, you can enjoy mopeds… and the second part, the jeeps which are going very early to the Bromo… (may be we were not lucky as it was during week-end)
At least, one good point with the food we had at evening with nice cappucino and at breakfast after the walk at the Bromo.

Looks nice from the outside, and then pretty run down.
Our bedroom wasn’t very clean, and our bathroom sink was leaking. We saw the mattress while they were cleaning them and putting them outside in the sun; they were disgusting. Might be time to buy new ones.
People at the reception didn’t help us at all to find a transportation or taxi — as we didn’t want to book the touristic tour. Made us wait for nothing. We found our way.
Food was average, but decently cheap.
Cheap hotel, so I guess you get what you pay for.
Far from the volcano, nothing around.

The room is stuffy and humid during daytime as there is no air-conditioning or fan. Also there are a lot of flies, mosquitoes and other insects that will enter the room when you open the door or windows.

Good Service. Clear.
