At city-room you live in apartments right next to "normal" residents in a very nicely renovated tenement house, as is typical for the Prenzlauer Berg.
The location directly on the Schönhauser Alle is super central, but since the apartments are in the back houses and cross buildings you sleep quietly.
It is important to arrange the arrival, as there is no reception.

Dingy, dirty — a total rip-off. Apparently I am not the first one who moved out in disgust after the first night. I wrote off about 350 Euro paid for a 70sqm, 2 bedroom apartment with kitchenette and washing machine for 4 nights. What I got were 2 small, entirely separate rooms next to each other, one 17sqm, the other 13 sqm. Each had a passable bathroom, although, the shower head was broken in the smaller unit. Both rooms opened into a dark courtyard, where a dozen garbage bins made sure, you wouldn't open the war style windows for too long. The stench was unbearable. The bigger unit contained a kitchenette, if you want to call it that: obviously self-made from scrap plywood material, 1 meter wide with string-held shelves to hold some dirty plates and cups. One corner housed a queen size bed, the other an L-shaped scrappy looking couch set. Between this and the kitchenette stood some sort of bar, to constitute a table I suppose. It was made from 2 boards of damaged plywood, roughly banged together with a few screws. I doubt the bed sheets had been changed. We all ended up sleeping in the smaller room, as the bed sheets in the bigger room showed obvious signs of previous. Xual activity! Add to this an incredibly overpowering smell from two bottles of room fresheners together with a salad bowl of washing powder with cigarette butts and ashes stored on top of the cupboard to mask previous smoking The owner, Mr. Speek, refused to talk to me.
