The room was totally fine; everything newish. There are some things not to like but at the lower price point this place has, they are easy to overlook.
If there is a weak point on room furnishings, it could be the mattress which was acceptable only. Towels and bed linen clean but a little frayed in spots.
Other guests remark on the area. There is a bar next door where guys hang around in the streets smoking and patrons are loud coming and going in the evening. The hotel had good windows that filter most of the noise but if you’re truly a light sleet, this could be a factor. I didn’t find the area dangerous; just don’t interact with the bar patrons.
I just saw one guy at reception ever (so may be the owner/manager) and he was not fluent in English but we got by. The immediate area has the Porte of Augustus, a huge cathedral, 10 minute walk to the arena and other sites and a Carrefour market. Given the price, I would stay again.
The room was quite nice even if it was very small. Also very clean. The location is great for walking and seeing the city. My only problem was the parking, where I had to use the nearby underground parking for 23€/day. But this is typical for hotels downtown.

I had an excellent stay at Hotel Central in Nîmes. The location is perfect, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. A charming hotel that truly enhances the experience of visiting Nîmes. Highly recommended.
