Wild Monkey Hostel

I needed a place to nap for like 3 hours but the place seemed to have a really cool vibe. Cheap hostel so be prepared for weird stuff like needing to ring the doorbell, and someone staying there has to let you in… These two girls ignored me Lol.
But for the price it's livable.

Nice little hostel that is unfortunately getting a bit old. Perfect for 1-2 nights, but not recommended for longer stays. The kitchen is not very clean and the fridge stinks when you open it. I had actually booked a 4-person dorm, but was mistakenly put in the 6-person dorm. Unfortunately, no one speaks English to clarify this. The beds are clean and comfortable. The bathroom is only half separated from the room and the ventilation is miserable, so that mold has formed on the entire bathroom ceiling and the shower curtain is also partly moldy. There are sockets by the bed, but unfortunately not all of them work. Very budget option in Cuenca.

Okay I have to say it was cheap and really close to center. But bathroom especially shower part was always dirty and sometimes there wasnt hot water! If u are sleeping up in the bed u may not have plug sometimes because the person who is sleeping down can use both. So there are much better hostels almost in the same price! (Shower curtain was horrible).

For the price paid this place is great. Some of the other reviews notably the last 1/5 star comprises of pure lies. Firstly, it's not situated on a main road at all, but a normal and not particularly busy road… and this has no effect whatsoever on the property. It is also very clean in the surrounding area — in fact, one of the cleanest cities in South America. The bathroom adjacent to the dorm I booked was exceptionally clean and the other bathroom in the outside lobby was also the case. The Wi-Fi was the strongest yet in Ecuador (though I've only stayed in three places thus far) and there was a nice inside and outside common space with a kitchen, tables and a large TV with games consoles. Cake and coffee are also sold for reasonable prices. There is no sign on the door for obvious security reasons… this is South America — and this is a plus in my opinion. The only important improvement to be made concerns outlets in the common areas. There was literally one outlet inside the lobby and 1 outlet in the entire outside lobby/kitchen space. An extension cable is absolutely necessary. Aside from the above this place is great value. I paid via an online platform $13.64 for three nights.

This hostel felt like a warm hug :) I felt so welcome right away and had the best time talking, eating and dancing with the staff, volunteers and guests. The place is comfy and clean, super economic in it’s price (the breakfast as well) and very well located.

Beds are very comfortable and it's a nice atmosphere.
Everything is clean and you can wash 1 Kg of cloth for.
Free. They have a fireplace where we did a fire on.
