The hotel feels dirty and the photos do not show the reality. It is not a hotel suitable for people with difficulty of movement, after canceling the reservation (once we saw the room), the staff stopped being attentive and even behaved in a bad way.
The rooms and pool were dirty, you notice the lack of maintenance.
It was unfortunate to visit at Lizard King.

They put us in two regular rooms even though we paid double for the big room! They never made it right! Thank god for Travelocity, they reimbursed us! Broken beds, broken wooden floors hidden by carpet but you feel it when you step on it! Same for the beds they sink in when you lay down! Up all night because of the loud wood floors upstairs and the people partying. Not a place for kids to get sleep! Toilet issues, and no water issues! Staff that lie right to your face! For the money you spend go elsewhere! The only good thing is the location, that’s it!

One of the girls serves breakfast, unhelpful and does not wear a mask at any time. And that's what we asked for twice.

The photos shown are misleading advertising. The pool has 100 years of not painting it … The. Parqueo looks like a junky. The room is not what is shown in the photos. If we weren't that long we'd come back… Zero recommended … The price has no relation to what is offered…

Excellent service and clean and comfortable rooms.

Pésimo do not show the policies they have, they show them until after the reservation and in return of money without having had the stay you lose all the money, lousy, lousy.

Pleasant. Buffet breakfast included. Wi-Fi works well. The rooms are neat and cozy. The pool might be cleaner, but there are some debris from the building right next door that is currently being rebuilt. Hopefully, everything will be better when it's over. Friendly and helpful staff. Imelda at reception did a very good job.

A wonderful place to stay with excellent staff! Rooms were very clean and cleaned daily on top of that. The atmosphere is very charming and everyone on staff is just lovely. I would certainly stay there again and recommend anyone else to.

Hotel in the most central part of Puerto Viejo, southern Caribbean of Costa Rica. In our stay we were able to enjoy quite full breakfasts. 20 meters from the beach and with its own swimming pool. Outside of breakfast there were no lunch or dinner options. Close to bars, restaurants, pubs, …
There is a bicycle rental service, a pool towel loan and a safe in the room.

We have been great, quiet and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are very nice and spacious and comfortable.

The place is presented in the photos as a paradisiacal site, near the beach, with swimming pool and with careful facilities.
When you arrive, you discover a place that is in bad condition, the wooden floor does not have two tables the same (not suitable for wheelchairs or baby carts). The rooms, though acceptablely clean, had a sloppy look.
After driving from San Jose, and with an incredible desire to rest in the pool, having chosen the hotel only because it has a pool, we indicate that the pool is not available. In your favor I will say that we were offered free breakfast as compensation.
I think the price is too much for what we get.
I can only judge for one time, November 2017, but I wouldn't repeat it.

Fatal Place. I think they have a new administration. Dirty pool, no cleaning mechanisms. Deteriorated rooms. Very expensive for what was offered. And hoping to solve a problem with my card for an excessive extra charge that I already saw give them to collect. Without having the devices or regulations that govern this country. They try to go above the law. For this space exists to put opinions, but for my work I have in contact with thousands of people. Which you can avoid a bad time.

I've been to Lizard King. At the reception desks the girls without much dialogue, while the guy is very kind. The breakfast included in the decent price, the nice rooms, the showers don't work well, there are no gecchi in the room, not even out in the whole hotel. The wooden entrance door without glass, open, where anyone can enter at night. I personally would not stay here again.

Good breakfast, but in 3 days they never cleaned my room the cleaning girls are too with the cell phone and the one that prepares the breakfast is not too attentive a pity, because both its owner as Marlyn and Mauro are extremely pleasant.

Undoubtedly one of the best hotels my family and I have stayed during our time in Costa Rica! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager. Our names were mentioned on the board and we were upgraded to the Paradise Suite. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this! ) and the restaurant supervisor deserves a VERY special thank you for the accommodations he made for us! During our stay at this hotel we had a great time — The kids, especially! They had a blast. I strongly recommend this resort to all. Thanks again!

They lie with the pool (it takes weeks broken and they do not want to fix it) this dirty and the tap water smells stagnant.

The pool was not working, we did not communicate previously, we had to negotiate the breakfast as we were not offered by not having the pool running, the facilities are a bit sloppy, one of the bathrooms in the rooms we occupied was leaving the water, The park is only for 4 cars.

I have had a pleasant trip so far until I arrived at this hotel. We first arrived to this hotel and my wife needed to use the bathroom. I asked the receptionist where the bathroom was located and she said that my wife couldn't go use it. I told her that I had a reservation and was about to check in. Once I said that she changed her tone and told my wife where the bathroom was. She said that was the owners policy regarding bathroom. I had an argument about the way she acted and blamed the owners rules. After an unpleasant welcome the hotel wasn't like I expected the hotel looked worse than what the photos depicted they must have hired someone to edit the photos to make it look better that it really is. After staying two nights I went to grab some breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Went back to the hotel to check out and my wife was going to grab our luggage. The receptionist told us we cant go back to the room to get our luggage once we started the check out process. The customer service at this hotel was beyond horrible. I would avoid this hotel and try elsewhere. I have traveled to various countries around the world and have never been treated like this.

Good price/quality. Clean room, not all the rooms have a/c. Remember to reserve a room with air conditioning, you will appreciate it.

Economic place with all the benefits needed to spend a good weekend.

I took the fan room and I had a very nice stay here. You can easily walk to the beach. The staff is friendly and helped me a lot. The breakfast is also good.

First of all the construction next to the hotel was really loud at 7am, after all the travel to finally get here I couldn't sleep at all, the mattress was hard as a rock. The rooms are tiny we could hardly walk around the bed. They have a ridiculous mini fridge stocked with garbage and they charge your first born. Make sure things are accounted for before you accept room. The towels smelled musty and the sheets had mold growing on them, the pool was filled with sand at the bottom and the water was really cloudy. We paid for the breakfast and it was a scam, for the money we spent you can go walk around and find something that has flavor for the same price or cheaper. The pictures you see are not the rooms you will get. Overall pay the same price to stay somewhere ON the beach with a sauna. I didn't feel safe walking back at night, then nominee is at the desk to keep people out… Scary.

Lizard King is a very relaxing atmosphere with great people who are always friendly and nice to talk to. The owners are very business oriented and really do their best in assuring that clients have a peaceful stay with them. The hotel is super close to all the restaurants and supermarkets. Highly recommend staying here if you want a carefree, relaxing days by a pool or in one of the many lovely rooms they offer.

For the price the room was great. Close enough to town we could walk everywhere. We got the room with just a fan and was not hot at all. So did not need air conditioning. Only drawback was that room walls were paper thin. We heard EVERYTHING our neighbors were doing at 1am oh an they started again about 9am. You can guess what that was. All in all a great stay.

It has shortcomings such as accessibility to the Internet, the rooms are very basic and simple, but clean and in good condition. The price is affordable, but what really makes it worthwhile, is the breakfast, all ea made there with natural products of the region and very fresh. Close to the beach and to the centre of the village. Recommended.

Cool Place, But for the price… I would not stay here again. I have never been to a hotel with so many rules. Why have a pool in costa Rica if you close it at 9 P. M. Aside from the very thin walls in the room… The Host, Jeffry came knocking on my door at 11:45 to remind me of a 12 oclock check out. How Rude! Never in my life has this happened. Completely unproffesional! The rules clearly state the penalty for a late check out. Did you ever consider I would like to spend another night Jeffry? No thanks after that knock… As well he claims to have the best breakfast in town… dont believe him. I will never stay here again. There are many nicer ones further south that you can discover for yourself. Happy Travels.

At check in, Jeffrey is the man to talk to about Puerto Viejo's best restaurants and night life. The hotel was very clean and well located, will be back soon. Thank you Jeffery for all your help. Hotel has WI-FI, A/C and a full bar by the pool. The Caribbean Breakfast was a nice start to our day.

This hotel got behind stolen belongings of guests and the hotel was not responsible, being that it was completely rude in their private property theft, and regardless of the problem, the landlady posed as an employee in order to not take responsibility, ask the hotel if you have a membership to the Chamber of tourism of Costa Rica NO LO TIENE, NOT BE STAYING HERE IS A DANGER!
