Cheap hotels in Alajuela

Amazing hosts, beautiful lodging and outstanding porch for eating and relaxing. Friendly cat (Camilla) and little dog (Bobby). Traveling with my wife and two teens.

OMG, the pictures are not good enough to give you a real idea of this paradise. I fell in love with the house, the garden and the owners.

This is the place to come near La Fortuna if you are looking to escape and be immersed in the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

I don’t even know where to begin, I did the 7-day yoga retreat and all I want to say is that I got the answers I needed and more for this period in my life.

I really enjoyed staying at this accommodation. It was a short walking distance to the main part of town, and the room was super clean with high ceilings and a huge bed.

The rooms were clean, each with its own private bathroom, and the location was perfect—close to everything. There’s also a shared kitchen, which was super convenient.

Good rooms with a privacy curtain and a shared closet. It seems this hostel is in a gated neighborhood and nearby to the airport which is nice.

I stayed here twice during my stay in Costa Rica.

We spent two nights at the Posada Rural Rio Celeste to see the Nationalpark. It’s only 6 km away from the entrance, thus we could be there early in the morning, which is definitely recommended.

It is a lovely small hotel consisting of several individually located rooms with a full bathroom. The grounds are gorgeous, with orchids hanging off of most trees.

A beautiful place with lovely hosts! Highly recommend.

What a wonderful place to stay and to relax. A 150 years old Villa with a dream of a Park surrounding it. Gentle and very nice Host Family with 3 lovley dogs. Thanks so much for the wonderful time.

This is accomodation at a budget price point. At that price point it is excellent value for money. Great little apartment with everything you need. Location is great and owner is very helpful.

Very good place to stay! The owner's are very nice and helpful. Little appartement with everything you need (except microwave and a clothesline), we really liked it very recommended!

I have stayed at innumerable hostels in at least 15-20 countries and have never had such a great experience. This hostel was unbelievably clean… the employees just didn't stop!

Hostel was clean and well maintained. I booked a private room with shared bathroom and wasnprovided with towels as well as free cleaning services.

This is a perfect hostel for your stay in La Fortuna. Definitely good vibes here. Very spacious areas, clean kitchen and a shared organized fridge.

Such a fun hostel with impeccable vibes.
The bar upstairs is amazing, very spacious and comfortable.
Fun games are held most nights on the roof.
The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Despite the bumpy road to get to the accommodation, it was paradise when we arrived. Very secluded but only 15-20min to get to a restaurant.

Great place, super well located. Amazing experience at a local small family farm. Victor is an excellent host! Great opportunity to support local a local family.

Great place to stay very close to the San José CR airport. It's extremely nice to find comfortable, clean accommodations with a very friendly staff that are not part of a chain.

A good, clean place to spend the night when arriving at SJO. Also has a nice kitchen, except the pans need an update. Rooms are clean and simple.

Such a hidden gem. This place was amazing. I loved the birdhouse cabin we stayed in. Nice cool breeze all night. In a secure place with cameras and the host is wonderful.

This is perfect for a first or last night for the airport. I always use it and get the owner to do the transfer. I feel very safe here after a tiring flight.

Very nice owner who welcomes you with a nice glass of refreshment.
The restaurant has a good menu.
It’s on walking distance to the village and close by car to Mystic Park and the waterfalls.

Wonderful staff, comfy beds, forest right outside the door.
I would definitely recommend this place for nature lovers.
It’s outside of town so probably best for travellers with a car.

Wonderful location, not too far from downtown La Fortuna (about 10 min) but it’s far enough from the noise and traffic. Our family stayed for 3 nights and felt completely safe.

My stay here at Alpha Arenal was everything it needed to be. I made friends with other guests, cooked food together, hung out and did a few epic tours.

I had an amazing stay at Alpha Arenal! The atmosphere was super welcoming, the rooms were clean, and the location was perfect to explore La Fortuna and the volcano area.

Ideal for my stay. I arrived at 6pm after a long haul flight and needed to leave at 3am for another flight. Easy for the taxi to drop me off and the owner arranged for a transfer for me early morning.

This place it's super safe. It's best spot for your arrivals and departures. Rooms are clean and compound has beutifull garden with kitchen and all you need.

This hotel is great! The service is top-notch and the food is wonderful. The rooms are of a true Costa Rican home that includes Wi-Fi, 3 beds, showers, and bathrooms.

Close to the national park, easy to beat the rush in the morning. Best part was bird watching from the breakfast area.

Only visited it to attend a music gig, a local band played mostly music from Credence Clearwater Revival, it was a great gig, they only had drinks but allowed us to buy food from elsewhere outside.

Excellent location if you want to be close to bus stations and enjoy the town convinient in a walking distance.

No TV in room unless you pay a good up charge but the rooms are good and clean. All have air conditioning.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Toucan Hostel was an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in with our dog, the staff made us feel so welcome and turned what could have been a tricky trip into a really enjoyable stay.

Nice Place Hostel is a really good spot in La Fortuna. It's easy to walk to everything you need, but quiet enough to get some sleep.
The common areas are nice, and the kitchen is clean for cooking.

The lady that hosts the hostel is super nice. She gave me wonderful advise about what to see around La Fortuna.

Excellent place to pass your vacations, if I travel again to CR, I'd like to book here again.

I saw some comments indicating that the place was small, however I checked before booking and they told me that the place was remodeled and expanded, and is true.

Nice hostel, helpfuls emlloyes, gave me many tipps where to go, what to do, how to avoid being scammed or to pay too much.

They sell a three day unlimited shuttle pass with access to many different points of interest including El Castillo and Lake Arenal. I highly recommend purchasing one, at just $20 it's worth it.

Great localization, super nice owner. Nice view from the tarace. If I ever gonna be nearby I will stay there for sure :)
