The resort is beautiful! However, the service is lacking! Most of the employees are not very friendly. Service at the restaurants and pool bar is very slow. Main reason for my one star is we had a housekeeper go through our room and steal my sons AirPods. My wife’s clothes were displaced throughout the room and it was clear someone had gone through our belongings. Now I understand a resort cannot control the actions of all their employees. The issue is when we reported it, we were treated as if it was no big deal and we were making it up. We were told a manager would contact us and we heard nothing. My wife saw a housekeeper outside our room and let her know we would be activating the GPS on them to find their location. We left for one our activities and then we got a call that a housekeeper found them in our trash, located outside our room. When we retrieved them we were told they were able to see who entered our room through the key card and confirmed it was a housekeeper. They also acknowledged this was not the first time with this employee. We were told a member of management would contact us but still nothing.

The treatment, the excellent customer service, all very friendly, obviously 100% recommended.

Beautiful property, awesome pool. Service was awful from the bar staff to the front desk to hotel management. I had an accident on their property at night when I was walking back to my room where I quite literally fell in an unmarked, very deep hole in their driveway entrance. My entire leg fell through (3 ft deep at least) and I almost knocked my teeth out on the concrete as I fell forward. When notifying the hotel of what happened so they could mark it with a cone or spray paint or rope it off to prevent further injury to future guests, not only did they not do anything to help me or compensate for the accident, they blamed me for walking around at night (like its illegal to do so) and said the hole was not their responsibility as it wasn't on their property. They took no accountability for this very clear safety hazard/liability and did nothing to prevent the hole from causing additional injuries. I could barely walk for the duration of my trip and after 1.5 months I still have extensive scarring on my leg that I may have for the rest of my life. See below pics of my bloody leg, the hole at night and during the day, the hole clearly on their property in front of their sign, and a similar hole with proper grating.

It is a really beautiful and comfortable suuuuper hotel, the hot spring baths a dream, the staff very friendly, recommended 100% THANK YOU I will be back soon.

Had a wonderful time at this resort. Beautiful grounds and close to the volcano. The thermal pools are so relaxing and the kids absolutely love the cold pool with waterslides. The food was good and they even have a pizza oven by the bar serving up fresh hot pizza! Drinks at the swim up bar were delicious. Very family friendly resort with great amenities.

Good price for the place so nice, hot springs inside the hotel, good food, the bar inside the pool the best, I had an amazing time. Rated 10 out of 10

We booked the zip line and hotel hot springs. The zip line staff was sooo amazing. The resort was clean, loved the water bar, the hot springs was great. Would highly recommend. We did another hot springs location the night before and this place was so much better. The Tarzan swing was awesome too.

A wonderful place.! We stayed for 3 nights and it was great. The main restaurant the food is great. And the bar restaurant what we ate was delicious. Highly recommended would definitely return. Ahh the Bella rooms overlooking the volcano 🌋.

Scenery, lush greenery, big rooms, fantastic breakfast spread of choices, great service with 8 different kinds of thermal bath. Price is reasonable as compared to the other hotels around.

Beautiful Hotel. Great Arenal Volcano views. They also have an old Church at the top of the mountain with amazing views. Bar drinks were very good. Pools are awesome and never crowded.

I was really impressed with Los Lagos. They have a great variety of spring temps to suit preference. The swim up bar and bartenders were really nice. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet at their restaurant and ordered room service for supper. Will definitely go again since the price is really reasonable and enjoyed the amenities.

I don’t normally review hotels while staying but Los Lagos is not an ordinary hotel. Amazing flora and fauna, great service (from José and Manuel at the pool bar and the staff in the restaurant for breakfast), incredibly clean, exciting slides and close-by activities. You could eat from the ground here as clean as it is. Some folks wish for more raw, but Los Lagos creates an environment that is perfect for a family without feeling like I’m in a kids play area at a fast food place. Obvious that the hotel works hard to create the wild jungle while those of us who are not so adventurous feel completely safe. Everyone we spoke to here is returning after many previous visits. You cannot go wrong here.

Horse ride up the mountain was magical even though it rained (long rain jackets provided). The stables and horses are well cared for, in good condition and friendly. The horses know the trail and pretty much take themselves, so recommended for any level of rider. They're fit so it's no struggle either which adds to the safety. View point photos on a good day would make great momentos.
Bonus that I got to see the foals in the stables. Gorgeous. The gardens and landscaping is beautiful throughout the property. Many pools to choose from. Bonus slides. Pods with lounger style seating and jets was my fav at 36 degrees!
Restaurant was closed at lunch but the bar at the pool is open for food. Great burger.

Amazing hot springs and slide area. Crazy slides! Our room was poorly located had to drive to pools and breakfast. Decent buffet breakfast. Really interesting nature reserve with a crocodile, ant farm, butterfly enclosure, frogs and beautiful plants. Also, they have a road up alongside the volcano which provides an interesting view of the volcano.

Pretty cool place. We stayed at a different hotel but bought a day pass for this one. Day pass got us access to the hot springs and the garden area which had: a crocodile pond, a turtle pond, and an enclosed butterfly garden. All the aforementioned garden areas are small, but it's still nice and well taken care of. My family of 4 had a great time walking around checking out the different plants and animals. Staff were very attentive and helped out whenever we had questions or needed something. Hot springs were good. Earlier in the day we did the free hot springs, which are fun though sometimes a bit crowded and a little difficult to get to, so the ones at this place are just really easy and have great views. Not as adventurous, but very relaxing. Oh and, the slide was pretty cool — I did it like 10 times. I think it would be cool to check this place out as an actual guest, but for sure as a day pass I would recommend it.

We had a great stay at Los Lagos. There are many tiered pools of all temperatures and four cement slides too keep the kids occupied. Several of the smaller pools offer seclusion from crowds and kids. The swim up bar is on one of the hotter pools. The on-site food is very good, although slightly overpriced. Many of the rooms are located up the hill, towards the volcano so be prepared to walk uphill or take the shuttle frequently. There are also several other amenities like horseback riding, butterfly garden, ant farm, frog garden, and a spa available. The property is enormous. The resort is out of walking distance to area attractions, so you will need a car or to take a taxi to nearby attractions. I recommend this over paying for tours on property. The overall atmosphere of Los Lagos is somewhat dated. I'm glad we stayed here, but would consider it a "been there, done that" resort.

This is the best lodge in Arenal, Costa Rica. This is the place you want to stay at should you travel to the volcano and its gorgeous surrounding areas. The picture attached was taken right at the balcony of my room. Los Lagos' facilities are superb, including a spa service, heated pools (one with a water slide! ), and nature observatory areas. This location is just a short ride away from town and tours can pick you up from the reception as well. The staff speaks English and is friendly and helpful. The downsides of this location are the shoddy shuttle buses that are just converted trucks (though they are kept clean), the heated pools are slightly cooler than I'd like. If you dine here for dinner, avoid the buffet and get the regular menu instead.

Fantastic stay! Hot springs are great. Lots of pools to hang out in. Swim up bar. Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff is great. Breakfast was wonderful each day. Close to La Fortuna and lots of activities. Highly recommended!

We stayed here in May 3rd week for two nights. It was a girl trip. The place is amazing with so many hot springs, you can enjoy the whole day Buffet breakfast was really good too. Rooms were hugs. I will definitely visit it again.

It's super nice, affordable prices and a view of the really wonderful Arenal volcano. Ideal for sharing with friends or partners.

Very dated and old. If you get a room like we did (#201-206) get ready to hike up some serious hills. There is a shuttle but it only runs every so often. The room was so far away from reception and the hills were so steep that it was a 15-20 minute walk (and a workout! ) to get back and forth. The pools were all either very cold or very hot. Drinks and food at the bar is pretty expensive (and not good quality). The views of the mountains and volcano are amazing but I would never, ever come back here.

We stayed at this resort for four days, its a huge resort with lots of hots springs, pool and a wet bar. The view of the volcano is unbeatable! The restaurant food was also good. The hot springs were very clean. Highly recommend this resort.

Without a doubt if you come to Costa Rica you should visit this place. Simply Beautiful.

Very very beautiful hotel loved the privacy at some of the pools and the whole layout… but felt unwelcome by the front desk with my wife, who wears the headscarf for religious reasons. They even put us in a room that looked like it was one of four really old rooms In the whole resort (room 108). We had bugs everywhere in the room. The place was so hot because of an aluminum roof and an old A. C. Unit. All of the other rooms looked like they were built recently and were very well kept with insulation and new AC systems even new outdoor furniture.

Wonderful hot springs and swim up bar at this more upscale resort/spa hotel. Lovely gardens and lively on-site nightlife. Not walking distance to anywhere, though this is a feature as much as an inconvenience.

Great family stay during the first 2 nights of our week long trip to Costa Rica. Free breakfast was enjoyed by all and great way to load up at the start of each adventurous day. Thermal pool eased our bodies after returning each afternoon tired. Water slides were a hit with adults and kids. Garden walk was nice with beautiful local foliage and a crocodile/turtle/butterfly garden. We stayed at one of the furthest distance rooms, 251, which offered a nice view from up in hills and resonating sounds of birds and monkeys. Rooms were slightly dated and could use a bed/bedding makeover with minimalistic furniture. The two queen beds along with a separate room with two single beds allowed us to spread out and rest at our own pace. Curtains and lining were a little thin so unless you want to sleep in don't plan on it as the light woke me up at 0600 every morning; not a bad thing as went to bed early each night. Shuttle service is on point with them constantly running throughout the day — thanks Ronald! Grounds were extremely well maintained with beautiful landscaping at every turn. We are glad our local guide and Leo Rodriguez recommended this hotel and we would definitely stay there upon a return visit. Pura Vida!

We elected to try Los Lagos on a day pass rather than one of the busier and more expensive competitors. We were more than pleased with what we found. There were no crowds. At times we were the only people in some pools. Prices are reasonable, $16 entrance and $2 towel rental Beautiful grounds with great walking area to see turtles, crocodile, frogs, butterflies. Clean and updated bathrooms, changing areas, and lockers. Fun pools with a variety of temps and slides for the kids.

We were only there for dinner and then in the hot springs. That was great. For 30 USD also very favorable.

Perfect place for families, for couples for everyone. Pools are crazy, not need to pay to go to Baldi, you'll have the same here less crowded. Employees are nice like everywhere in CR.

A welcome mediocre a draconian settlement of beautiful rooms but very far from the reception has banish for groups of elderly people. Excellent breakfast.

We did the zip-lines here and after they allow you to use the pools. It was amazing! I would definitely recommend it. Everyone was very friendly and the pool after was perfect! There are several waterslides that just added to the fun.

We've twice now had the incredible pleasure of visiting this slice of Heaven known as Los Lagos Resort. Their hot springs are to die for! There are so many activities in the resort as well as the surrounding area. The nearby town of La Fortuna has great restaurants and shops. While there, we saw iguanas, monkeys, and a mommy sloth with her baby! The people are very friendly and helpful to visitors.

I loved this hotel thanks to these hot and cold water pools, a good way to relax after visiting the surrounding area. The rooms are very spacious. The restaurant is good and offers musicians to put you in the mood of Costa Rica.

Great place to stay and the restaurant is excellent. The waiters/service clerks were the best I've experienced. The waiters were all friendly, fast and accommodating. The courtesy given us to catch our own tilapias and have them prepared according to our taste was amazing. We've travelled in Europe and Asia yet this place gave us the best services ever in accommodation and in its restaurant. More success to your resort.

Nice rooms and hot spring pools are clean and perfectly warm. We came in rainy day, it’s a pity we couldn’t see the volcano but we saw rainbow after rain! And in front of our room, we saw Tucán bird, it was amazing. Additionally, the breakfast buffet of the hotel is really good!

We spent many hours at the various pools with different slides that are safe for kids and ones that adults would enjoy. We explored the area and found a quiet and quite private pool (with hot and cold water) up on a higher tier. Plan to get a meal option with your stay as their menu gives you the option of an appetizer, an entree, a dessert, and a drink (fresh fruit juices).

Good location for activities in the area. Room Max 3 stars. Breakfast buffet was good and the selection plentiful.

I been there once for 3 days with my mom, husband and my sister. The rooms are very nice, they have a bar with great selection of coctels. Is a great hotel for a quiet vacation.

It was a beautiful hotel and property. My only complaint was the lack of options for food if you had no car on the property. The property is huge and I would recommend some sort of transport offered by the hotel from the rooms to the front office/restaurants.

Second time in the hotel and could not like it more. Room was great (one far away from entrance). The breakfast was ok. But the hot pools on the property, beautiful views and tropical vegetation made the stay special. They have multiple pools with different temperatures from cold to hot, jacuzzies, water slides and swim up bar. We had such a great relaxing time after spending actively first half of the day. Just be aware that some rooms are far away from pools, restaurant, and entrance. I think you can ask for shuttle but we just drove there.

Great family friendly resort. There are many pools, water slides and hot springs to enjoy. Food is good and not too expensive. You can also sign up for excursions: horse back riding, zip lining, ATV trips, rafting, sky walks, etc. This resort also has a spa. It is at the base of the Arenal Volcano. They views and atmosphere are wonderful!

Went with my family during vacation. I had no idea what to expect. The scenery is beautiful and there are wild iguanas everywhere! It's a very nice place and I thought it was very fun that there was hanggliding and water slides everywhere. Food and drink was very reasonably priced. I would visit again.

What a fantastic place this is — nested on the side of the Arenal volcano, deep in tropical paradise. I constantly find myself reminiscing about the hot springs and wet bar! The rooms aren't the most luxurious, but in this paradise, why do you need to spend any time in your room!? Los Lagos offers a variety of excursions and outdoor activities, so if you haven't booked anything in advance, they can help with that. There's a bar in the pool area, and one in the restaurant as well. You'd be hard pressed not to have a blast here. My only other critique aside from the comfort of the rooms is the food; while very tasty, it seemed pretty average for what we ate around the area. I'd love to come back in the future.

This hotel and its location is GORGEOUS! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are a bit spread out but they offer a shuttle to take you wherever you need to go on the resort grounds. The hot springs were phenomenal and their zoo and on-site zip lining was incredible! Absolutely loved staying here!

Individual cabinet with awesome views. We had a midrange one for $70 a night and would of expected to pay $175 or better in the States. No kitchenette. Beds were comfortable; my wife liked the different animals the staff would fold the towels into. Front porch was awesome see pics. Hot springs are natural hot spring water that cascades through several man made pools with hottest at top and cooling as they descend. All were clean. Main pool with wet bar was open and cloudy. Childrens pool was nasty. Not sure of cleaning schedule since chlorine is not used. Restaurant was amazing. Breakfast is a buffet with actually hot food and would cost you $15 or better in the states. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommend.

After staying in Arenal for two nights at a different hotel, my wife and I were headed back to the Costa Rican West Coast when our rental car (Budget Liberia) broke down. We happened to break down next to the family's house that owns Arenal Paraiso. Oscar happened to be leaving as we broke down and asked if we needed help. He helped us translate our issue to Budget, drove us to Arenal Paraiso Hotel and allowed us to use the facilities and hot springs while everything was sorted out with Budget. Both Oscar and the staff were extremely friendly (the staff was also patient as we had to wait around for nearly 4 hours), the hotel grounds were beautiful and the food at Oscar restaurant was great. If this was the type of treatment we received as stranded travelers, I have no doubt that guests would have an excellent experience. We wish we would have stayed at this location on the first shot but we know we will stay here next time we visit the area.

Lodge is very close to the Arenal volcano and beautiful views. Has some hot springs quite good and free for guests of the hotel. The breakfast is fantastic. Accessing the rooms with a car for being away from the reception. The Wi-Fi does not work properly in the rooms.

There are many hotels in La Fortuna Arenal, many of them in the vicinity of the Volcano, but few offer the quality, comfort and variety of thermal pools here enjoy. Very good service. Family rooms very spacious and comfortable.

Beautiful resort with a lot to do. The pools were easily the best part but the butterfly room is nice. Still, there are a few areas that were in disrepair. The hike to the observatory is well worth it. Bring water and go early in the morning for the best chance to see the volcano without clouds covering the top.

Sleeping underneath an active volcano is not something I'd like to do every night, but for a night in this fine resort… I'm in! With natural hot springs pools, beautiful rooms, and fantastic food, this was a must. I went during the rainy season when prices were cheaper, and it was the perfect spot. Saw so much fauna and wildlife!

Excellent I recommend it to many people the place is presioso and the staff all very friendly do not forget to visit them one of the best hotels in San Carlos.

Amazing! Huge, great food, and nice pools.

I did the zip lining and day pass. The food is God awful so DONT COME HERE TO EAT. The drinks are great but very expensive. The hot pools are wonderful. I spent almost 6hrs in the water because I was going to make it worth it. I definitely could have spent the $95 day elsewhere but I made it fun. Def do the slides! I didn't till the end and I wish I had all day… Zip lining was average … Great for kids and first timers who've never been to universal studios.

We went here for the day pass with the lunch option. Left after 2 hours and was not worth the $27/person entry. We were not impressed at all. The hot springs area felt so artificial and smelled like chlorine. Some of the hot spring tubs weren't even hot, so clearly not true hot springs. The normal pool area had cool water slides. The buffet was a cluster when we went. Line was out the door and moved like a snail. The wait wasn't worth it either because the food sucked. The only positive was ample seating in and outside of the pools. If you want hot springs go somewhere else.

Pretty cool place! it might sounds weird to swim in hot springs when its hot but it feels right :) they got water slides and cold springs. Will make you relax for the rest of your day! try the food its great but make sure you ask & try they Mayonnaise … it is out of this world lol.

Awesome pool. The slides were a lot of fun. Excellent bar and restaurant. Room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The shuttles to get to and from the facilities can be a bit inconvenient, but it's usually timely. Great views of the nearby Arenal Volcano.

Amazing resort, stables on the premises and horses graze within the property. You may witness 20 or so horses being led thru the roadway back to the stables during your breakfast. Hike up to the observatory so you can leisurely enjoy the view & it's good exercise.

It was amazing! The pool was fantastic! The hot springs were so refreshing. The swim up bar was the highlight of my costa rican experience. The food was just extravagant. The decor was elegant and fancy to look at with our seeing balls. The frescas were so good because our pallets have not experienced wine before. BECAUSE WE"RE KIDS! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! And we're still kids writing this review. Thanks and have a great trip to Los Lagos hotel La Fortuna, Costa Rica.

Excellent pack thermal waters, lunch and afternoon coffee. Affordable price. Friendly and family atmosphere. Excellent for travelling with children. Highly recommended.
