Hotel Stein Colonial

The staff was kind and hardworking, so no issues there. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
I booked seven nights at this hotel months in advance, excited to stay in what was once a beautiful family home in Cali. I knew it was a small, three-star hotel and kept my expectations realistic.
The first room had an ant infestation in the bathroom, and finding one on the bed led us to call staff. Spraying the area where the ants were coming from with poison unleashed hundreds more ants, and we had to change rooms.
The second room had no ants, but the toilet barely flushed. We were moved again the next morning, then moved *again* two nights later so another family could check in, and finally sent back to the “fixed toilet" room. At 2 a. M. The toilet hose exploded, flooding the room. My husband shut off the water line while soaking wet to prevent to rest of the hotel from flooding. We were moved again (at that point it was 3 am) to a room with an awful bed. After a few hours with zero sleep, we checked out two days early — on Christmas Eve — and scrambled to find a new hotel instead of spending time with family.
The final insult was the manager/owner: no apology, no compensation for the trouble, had an aggressive attitude, and acted like refunding unused nights was some kind of favor. A simple, professional apology would’ve gone a long way. Instead, I left feeling dismissed and disrespected.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

My stay (4 nights) has been lovely. My room was spacios, very clean, quiet and the AC worked very well.
The staff was great, they make this Hotel extra Special!
The breakfast consisted of 4 options plus unlimited coffee, tea and fruit salad. I liked it very much.
Thank you for a lot wonderful stay!

This is a great place to stay in Cali. If you're in town for tourism, do yourself a favor and stop at the official TI across the street to plan your visit. The staff at the hotel are very attentive and it's a pleasure to wake up and have coffee and breakfast in this tranquil place. The hotel itself is a historic building with lots of charm. It was also very good for my 5 year old son because there is a small playground on site. Our experience was very pleasant from start to finish and I would recommend Stein without hesitation.

Beautiful colonial / rustic hotel in north Cali. Comfortable family-like atmosphere. Great value for the modest price.

Excellent great location. The staff are very friendly and professional. This is a beautiful place. I highly recommend.

I've stayed here a few times. It feels safe, with the guard on the gate, and the rooms are good — not luxurious, but clean and comfortable enough. A quiet haven from the frenetic atmosphere of downtown Cali. Air conditioning is extra, but worth paying for. Public areas have an old colonial style, and the small pool is welcome after a hot day out. Breakfast is good, prepared fresh and served quickly. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

A very special hotel. A beautiful colonial building with many spots where one can relax or socialize with the other guests. Spotlessly clean. Impeccable service. Every detail is taken care of. Very accommodating and caring staff. I have rarely been in a hotel which is as well run as this one. It's probably because the owner is there in person and attending the guests personally. Very central location. I felt totally safe. It deserves as many stars as there are.

It’s a solid stay if you need a clean room in a central part of Cali, but you’re going to have to go elsewhere for a proper meal. The guard is at the gate 24-7, and they have a fridge where you tally your own beverages. The pizza, if you can call it that, was painfully disappointing at the end of a long day. I should have accepted an invitation from a local, but I was already in my PJs. It’s close to all the trendy spots in the North side of town. The COP-16 was going on, and my usual hotel (Colina de San Antonio) was not available. Like I said, would do again for every reason except the food.

Really kind people and good service! I left something at the hotel and they shipped it for me to Medellin. The location is great too and for being in a big city it’s super quiet. Highly recommend.

This castle-like hotel proved to be an exquisite haven for leisure travelers like myself. From the moment I stepped foot into its grandeur, I was greeted with a blend of elegance and warmth that set the tone for an unforgettable stay. The unique charm of each room, coupled with the impeccable daily cleaning, created a sanctuary of comfort and tranquility. Its strategic location allowed for easy exploration of the city's renowned attractions on foot, while the attentive 24-hour security and exceptional service, including going the extra mile to accommodate me when I fell ill and even reopening a closed restaurant, truly elevated the experience. Despite its seemingly modest size, the hotel boasted ample amenities such as various hidden halls, a refreshing pool, and a delightful guardian dog, complemented by practical conveniences like parking and reliable Wi-Fi. Surprisingly, I found no cons to mention, as every aspect of my stay surpassed expectations, leaving me with cherished memories and a strong recommendation for fellow travelers seeking an enchanting retreat.

The nearby Penon area has lots of restaurants and shops.
A clean, comfortable room with both A. C. And an overhead fan. Excellent housekeeping service.
The rooms are extremely well maintained.
Friendly and attentive management.

The property is amazing. The street is pretty quiet. The pool area is lovely and all the landscaping is thoughtfully maintained. We felt very safe here with the gated driveway. The only downside is the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. If you like very firm (like a board) beds you will love this place. Our room was on the main level next to the stairs. It had great ac but we could hear all the people walking and talking in the main rooms and on the veranda. The free breakfast is nothing to get excited about but it is free. Make sure to spend lots of time in San Antonio which is very walkable from here. The housekeeping staff was phenomenal.

Wonderful staff, beautiful vintage decor. Almost hauntingly beautiful.

Without hesitation a wonderful architecture, excellent attention, neat room, comfortable, first class attention a comfortable stay.

It is an excellent hotel, it stands out for its kindness and courtesy in the attention.

A hotel with a charm. A building of Excellent Attention Heritage.
