We stayed one night enjoyed our time there comfortable beds rooms are clean staff were very helpful.

Very rude and unprofessional staff. We recently were “kicked out” after checking in and having our 6 month old puppy (by the way a month ago it wasn’t a problem) The lady at the front desk came BANGING on our door and in an aggressive and angry voice said, “you need to leave because you have a dog, we no longer allow dogs in the hotel. ” Umm ok there is a way better approach to this! Because your having a bad day, don’t take it out on guests! I’ve been emailing the manager and hotel for the past 3 days with NO response! So I do not recommend this hotel, unless you want to be treated in such a way — very unprofessional staffing.

Awesome hotel, clean, quit, comfortable, modern.

We came up to Port Hardy for our kids hockey and had such a wonderful visit. From the moment we checked in the staff were super helpful and friendly. The food at the Pub was top notch and they had great breakfast as well as dinner. I loved the little cafe that made super tasty specialty coffee drinks. It felt so warm an inviting and we would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Port Hardy. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful.

Beautiful hotel and rooms were clean.

Last night we had the true pleasure of staying in this beautiful Indigenous owned and run hotel. The service was fabulous, the food was delicious, and it was full of stunning design touches that reflected the art of the local Indigenous peoples. As another gentleman checking out said, “This was better than our $500 a night suite in Whistler! ” If your travels ever bring you to the north end of the Island, I can’t recommend Kwa’lilas Hotel enough!

Stayed here many times since it opened. Love the restaurant, and bar. Staff at the front desk are usually from the First Nation so they know the area, are always very friendly, kind and helpful. The rooms are quiet, beds are very comfortable with nice duvets for the cold winter, and I love the cedar soap. I have also shopped in the gift shop and always get asked where I bought my FN mug from.

Wonderful food with super friendly waitresses!

Went to Naxid for wings and a burger tonight. My burger patty was pink inside and my wings were too. Servers were nice helpful and well mannered though. Place was nice and clean. Music was a bit too loud though.

Beautiful hotel! Rooms are so clean and modern! Restaurant is fantastic — chef is incredibly talented and serve staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Lucy is a fantastic greeter and creates a great first impression! I will come back to Port Hardy to stay and dine here!

Beautiful Indigenous owned and operated property. Not only the artworks at the hotel were stunning but also the room and bed were super comfortable. We ate at the hotel restaurant. Some of the menu items were inspired by the local Indigenous traditional ingredients.

I‘m here for a week on a business trip — it’s only been 2 days and I am already impressed. The hotel is impeccably clean and stylish. Staff are friendly and flexible with requests. After a long day working a staff member brought me a meal from the (delicious) restaurant to my room despite the fact that they don’t actually offer room service. So far everyone has gone above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms are nicely appointed and the bedding is comfortable (great pillows). You can’t beat the central location right off the highway but 5 minutes walking to the ocean. I will post again at the end of my stay but I’m already very happy with my decision to stay at Kwa’lilas.

Love this place! So much art and history, and also wonderful staff, comfy beds, great showers. I hope I get to stay here again! The food at their restaurant was 5 star delicious too, highly recommend!

I thought that the hotel was great, the staff were friendly, the food was excellent, the whole updating of this hotel has been professionally and sympathetically done. The rooms were beautiful will all the usual amenities. Just a couple of things that could be improved, how about an information booklet in each room about the hotel, we didn’t know opening times, facilities offered and the like. The other thing is that in the bar you can watch every sporting activity on numerous tv’s but in the room there was few channels and the ‘info’ button on the remote didn’t work so you had to keep scrolling through in the hope you finally got a program and not an advert to see what was on.
I also get the other comments about soundproofing in each room but figure there isn’t much you guys can do on this other than tell guests There is a quiet time in the hotel until say when the earliest ferry departs just to make guests think about closing doors rather than just leaving them to slam shut, just common sense.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The reason this gets a 3 is that they are not well organized yet. We arrived before check in time so expected to wait for a room but the kept us waiting for hours even after rooms were available because their housekeeping system didn’t sync up with front desk. We bought several items from gift shop and only 1 had a price so it took a long time for them to look up every item. And dinner was good but you can’t charge to room because those systems aren’t synced either. Renovation is nice, they just need to work out the kinks.

The hotel is beautiful and a great tribute to the people. I was not there as a guest but only to take the traditional drum making class. Sad to sad I was quite disappointed.
The young man teaching was very nice but did not have things prepared and we had to wait almost an hour for him to be ready. Then he still had only finished soaking the hide but nothing else was prepared. He radomly punched the lacing holes so they were quite uneven and one drum he punched too many so it took longer to lace. The lacing was nylon string which may be easier to work with but it is hardly traditional. I had to unlace and start over as he had cut the string too shory, and the other person had to start over twice for the same readon. He did not show us how to Centre to frame in the his so both drums were quite uneven. The 'beverages' included was a glass of water and there was no packaging probed for the drums as promised in the ad. The cost was $120 per person but the experience and supplies were worth no where near that. I am thankful I tried it before I paid for more family members to do it.
I highly recommend the management review the whole program; deliver what you say you are going to, and adjust the price to something more reasonable. I can purchase a better quality drum with artwork for not much more money.

Great stay! Friendly staff, very clean! we’ve stayed twice now! only complaint would be the complimentary breakfast, it lacks consistency, French toast was super dry both times and the second time it looked as if it were dropped in cinnamon powder… sausages needed to be cooked less the first time and more the second time, bacon is super salty… eggs tasted different both times, along with an off texture when separated but the hash browns were perfect… and I’m not a fussy eater at all, nor one to complain. Food is a big deal for a lot of people so I thought I’d add my opinion on it in hopes for my next stay I can have a different opinion on it… I’d hate to see the waste of such an awesome perk to staying at the hotel :)

Well definitely not worth 200 a night. More like 99 a night. Front desk lady said we could bring our child into the pub. Go in there and they said kids not allowed. Get take out and the salad was just terrible. Wings were still pink. Hopefully breakfast is better.

Beautiful hotel, spacious rooms amazing bathroom, quiet and gives a complimentary breakfast. Only complaint would be paid extra for a sea view but you can barely see the sea it's so far away.

Stopped overnight here for a good rest after completing a hike to Cape Scott. Arrived as the kitchen was closed but they still made us some fries and Onion rings which was very much appreciated! Room was amazingly comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was exactly what we needed before our drive back to Langley. Highly recommend! Thanks for the great stay!

I didnt stay in your hotel yet but I made reservations for a family table in your restaurant — 6 of us for My Daughter Dennine Reid's Bday on April 16/18. She works there so it was nice to have such a beautiful celebration for her in this amazing restaurant. Our server was very accommodating esp with Our 3 Lil Ones & with bringing out the Bday Cake. I would highly recommend this place — the service was great & the food was FANTASTIC!

Best place to stay while in Port Hardy. Modern furnishing and nice amenities. The attached restaurant has a very well done Native menu.

New, clean and fairly priced. Amenities are a 10 minute walk if you are not into the in-house bar or diner. Brand new HDTV screens but for some reason 20 channels of awful blurry, stretched analogue content.

Amazing place! I loved the art work and the room was clean and spotless! I will be staying here every time I’m in Port Hardy. I loved the art book that was shared with us by the server during breakfast which shows the history behind all the art work in the hotel. It shows all the hard work put in by all. There was a variety of food for a hot breakfast with fruit, yogurt and granola. :)

No complaints at all. Great food with world class appetizers. Friendly, non-intrusive service ensures this is a place I'll visit again.

Great hotel! Rooms are really nice and the staff are wonderful. They called each room to calmly tell us about the tsunami evacuation warning (which was triggered in the middle of the night! ) and kept us updated every half hour until the evacuation order was lifted. Thank you Kwa’lilas Hotel for a nice, safe stay!

Front Desk Sally went above and beyond to meet my odd needs. You need to keep her! On my second visit she was equally charming and kind. Your rooms are impeccable. Great hotel. I will be back for a third trip.

You gotta check it out. I was a little sceptical when it was built but this place is by far the best hotel in the North Island! Great draught beer selection!

I love this hotel. I love the native themes. Staff are awesome. Everything is new and clean. It's quiet in the morning. Food is awesome and the pub is classy. Did I say I love this hotel?

The restaurant/pub has a unique, local west coast menu with really impressive food, perhaps the best and most surprising part of the stay. All of the staff were great. The room was clean and welcoming. This place is a great addition to Port Hardy, will definately be back.

What a great hotel! The common areas and rooms alike are tastefully (i. E. In an understated and elegant way) decorated with local First Nations motifs and artwork. And the staff were consistently professional, efficient, and helpful. We will definitely come back next time we are in the north island. There were some fun beaches nearby for our kids to play, and the in-house restaurant was excellent.

Fantastic food at the restaurant. The Caesar salad was subtly seasoned with just the right amount of seasoning that you can taste the Romaine. Both the fish dishes, planked salmon and halibut were delightfully flavoured, that you can savour the individuality of the fish. The vegetables that accompanied the dishes were fresh, crisp and perfectly cooked. The staff were warm and friendly, as well as knowledgeable. What a refreshing place in this town. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly too. Highly recommend this place.

Great service. Friendly staff. Loved the details in rooms, beautiful and luxurious. The bed was very comfortable. Modern bathroom. I appreciated all the cedar details too. Very well done renovations. The staff are amazing as well as the food. The pub is very nice and it's nice to have a place to take your partner for a romantic dinner. It's just as nice to sit and have a burger. The history is nice as well.

Gorgeous Indigenous decor. Nice room with nice bathroom. Place was very clean. This is a fully renovated hotel… The elevator was definitely old (just saying). Quite happy with it. Near pleasant walk or short drive to save on food and small shop sopping strip.

We had dinner at Ha'me (the restaurant attached to the hotel). The decor was warm &, along with the lovely staff, created a very comfortable atmosphere. Amazing artwork is showcased & seems relevant to the food as well. The food was fantastic! We all made sure to choose different appetizers & entrees — so we could all sample a variety. Everything was delicious-, — genuine treat door Port Hardy! The menu has a wide appeal & I look forward to trying everything on it. Well done!

We love dinning there and do it all the time.

Basic hotel room with hot showers, TV and decent bed. As many are their staging for the ferry north, there is competition for the ice; so get it while you can. We did not visit the restaurant or bar, but they look interesting. Some tour lines use this locations so you may see buses out front. We would use this location again.

Was just before your room is freshly painted, the Windows were closed. And the smell of the paint booth in the room together with the moisture of sleep was hardly to think.

I recently stayed here and I got to say I love the Port Hardy Inn's new management. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. In the rooms they have new beds! Definitely a big change from my past visits.

Room was way to hot and not even a fan. Room felt like you where in the 80s. Not worth the $120.00 at all. Not to mention no fridge and the noise will keep you up.
