Very helpful and friendly staff.
Clean and nice rooms.

While I would recommend the Days Inn, there are some definite improvements to be made, mostly in regards to cleanliness and service. Firstly, we were able to check in early, which was great. We did have to wait 30 min for someone to show up at the front desk though. The room was beautiful, but not very clean. The floors had caked on dirt, and leftover crumbs on the floor and desk. There were actually a couple of full sized doritos left on the floor and bed frame. There were what appeared to be poop fingerprints on the ledge of the bathroom. Luckily, I had lysol wipes and felt better once I did some cleaning. The cleaning carts were only equipped with brooms, so I can see how it would be difficult to really clean the floors well. They really should have vacuums. The Mop buckets were filthy looking too. We still did enjoy our stay, although I am not sure I would return due to the lack of cleanliness of our room. I had to wipe up pool water off the floors from my kids and the towel was very brown after. Yuck. All that being said, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was lovely and generous. The pool floor was so slippery, my daughter (who was walking), fell flat on her back, so probably would benefit from more frequent cleaning around the pool deck. Beds were comfy though, and the place looks nice. So, I guess definite improvements in cleanliness, the cleaning staff would benefit from better equipment to work with!

We were at the days inn last night — myself and my four small children, we were getting items from our vehicle when my son noticed this on the ground. A needle. And there were 2 others around it. My 2 year old as any, curious as ever, ran over, I took them away from it — the older kids know not to touch things like that — so it was brought to staff attention right away. Went out this morning when we woke up and low and behold the needles were still there. Then they were going to hold my deposit because of a stain on their bedding, that I informed them my kids DID not put there, they said it was fruit punch, my kids had no juice other then Sunny d in the room. I asked 3 times for an extra blanket for my kid at 1030 at night and it took until midnight to receive the blanket. There were no cots to use. I had a reservation for tonight again, but I cancelled and went to a different hotel.

We just got home from our stay at the newly renovated Days Inn in Saint John! We have two young boys and they did not want to leave. Great customer service, clean hotel and rooms, and the pool and hot tub were perfect for all of us. A warm pool! A great price, we will for sure be back before summer hits to enjoy the pool and hot tub. 😁

We had our visit last night! Great family hotel! I was really impressed with the lobby/ eatery area! fun bright colors and spacious! Rooms are very modern looking! The ladies working the breakfast / lobby area were very nice! especially the shorter lady, I think her name was Leanne. She helped us with the cool pancake machine! Great hotel! we will be back.

Stayed in wheel chair assable room… nice and big… toilet was the right height… clean clean clean rooms… staff was so helpful… would recommended it again and again.

This past weekend will be my second time staying at the Days Inn in St. John, I think this place is fantastic, the staff are amazing and go out of their way to help you in anyway they can. I mean I felt like these people are my family!
Excellent rooms and beds were very comfy.
I noticed a Few people on here have given the days inn a bad review, these people must be very hard to please because both times I stayed there. We had no complaints whatsoever. Thank you to the wonderful staff!

Too old. Rapid renovation is needed over all including swimming pool.

This is an older inn and we expected that. We came here looking for something cheap and that is what we got. The bed was fine to sleep in and for one night and the price the whole experience want bad. The whole place feels old and a bit dirty or broken.

Completely devastated! We entered the hotel… the exterior was in disrepair. We still entered to give it the benefit of the doubt… we were so floored. The smell was overwhelming. We headed for our room… I looked at my husband and said I wasn't sure we were getting out of there alive… I was not joking… I've roughed it but this was just not a safe place in any way shape or form. The pool and hot tub are a pure green slime … the smell is undescribable… It took us hours the try to rid ourselves of the stench… the room smell somewhat the same putrid swampy stench. Dirty is polite… I felt like I was visiting a crack house from a movie. I just wanted to run… hotel hell! The windows are rotting out… there is actual rubble of deterioration all over the place and rat traps… some of the room doors actually have rotted to the point you can see in… we will never book with expedia. Ca ever again… no stars… it should be closed.

The room itself was nice, but the building was obviously run down and had a very distinctive funk. Breakfast was literally just cereal.

The room I stayed in was adequate. The overall decor and amenities offered by the hotel were lacking in ways such as the decor being dated and some of the vending machines no working.

We came here late at night on our way to Halifax. It took us over an hour to check in: the whole process was very unprofessional. The room keys didn't work, we had to switch rooms and the staff messed up our reservation. The room smells heavily of smoke and is nothing like the pictures online. It's dirty, small, and features many unusable items. This whole place has a creepy feeling. If I could rate 0 stars, I would. Do not come here. Worst experience ever.

We only went there for one night. The room was clean and air conditioned. The common places and corridors are seriously faded and need repairs.

OMG! This is a big time hole! I can not believe they have not been shut down! The pictures are 100 times worse in person! BEWARE!

They blantly lied on their website, they closed the pool and restaurant, and the hallway and rooms are in desperate need of repair. Do not stay here.

Centrally located and easily accessible. Older property but some rooms have been updated and are not bad. Unfortunately the pool area and restaurant are closed.

This is more of a "motel, " rather than a hotel. I booked a non smoking room, my room a long with the hallways reeked of cigarettes not to mention, there was a teenage walking around the halls smoking! Not that that is the hotel's fault, though, maybe that is why their hallways reek of cigarettes. MY TOWEL HAD YELLOW STAINS all over it and I had to request a new one. Also, it was a storm that day and they did not care to shovel the driveway so our car was getting stuck. I had to run the water in the bath for 10minutes before I relieved hot water. The bed, chairs, and floors had stains all over it and the room was extremely gloomy. I was seriously grossed out, I slept with my jacket on, on top of the bedding. They advise free breakfast, you get cereal and toast, and there is a sign stating not to leave dishes in the sink, as to say, "do your dishes when you are done. " I will NOT ever, be returning to this what I call, motel.

Please don't make the same mistake as we did. This place is a dump.

Buyer beware! Booking cancelled without any warning. We booked a room for this hotel on Expedia. We received confirmation of "Booked". When we arrived in the evening, the staff member told us they had "run out of rooms" and did not honor the booking that had come in hours before. They simply cancelled our booking without informing us in any manner. However, the charge was applied to the credit card and I have paid for a room I did not use and a booking that was not honored by the hotel. Be careful with any bookings at this location. And good luck getting your money back — as that might prove difficult and hotel staff will refuse to help you.

The atmosphere was more like a crack house with beer bottles on the counter and gambling off to the side. Went up to my room, stains on the carpet, sheets and walls. I stayed for less than an hour and went to the front desk to leave. They lied and said I would get a full refund on my credit card. I had to go through the credit card company to get a reversal. On top of that, it was not that cheap. It still cost $75.00/night. I will not go back unless I turn into a crack addict.

Room was dirty, food was terrible and overpriced, front desk staff was inefficient, no hot water for showers, staff allowing drunks to wander the halls for half the night shouting and carrying on. I travel to Saint John at least once a year for the past 5 years and have always stayed at the Colonial. It has never been a 5 star but it used to be well run and comfortable but since the change in ownership approximately 2 years ago it has gone down hill severely and at the rate it is slipping I have no doubt they will soon be renting rooms by the hour! This has definitely been the last year I will stay at this hotel.

WILL NEVER GO BACK! — Not worth staying at — rented a double queen room for daughters birthday sleepover with 3 off her friends — should have brought life jackets and a raft — because the pool was the only good thing about the place — would have been better off sleeping in the pool over the dirty outdated small room — hallways stunk of smoke probably from the gambling hall by the front desk — were told over the phone that they had free in-room movies — one just had to pick movies at front desk — told of many kids movies to pick from — what we weren't told — was that the first person who requests a movie is what the whole hotel gets — that movie choice is sent to all rooms at that time with no other option to watch — that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard off — ground floor room had a curtain that was too narrow to cover window — left about a 10" gap open — great when the local teenagers started to argue and party right outside the room window at 2am — room was dirty and small — beer caps came with the room — place is a joke — wish I had found this site with its reviews before I had booked — have been pretty much 100% satisfied with every hotel I have ever stayed at — except for one — and this was worse than it — STAY AWAY FROM THIS DIVE.

It's been a while since we stayed there, but the memories are fresh. Our room smelled foul and the carpet was strangely soggy. The place gave us all the creeps. We slept in our clothes with our shoes on. However, the staff was very friendly and the motel is in a good location for folks planning on taking the ferry.
