For a 3 star hotel, everything is fine. There is a restaurant, the kitchen is ok!

I was at Sandman City Centre to get a tour of the banquet hall for a future dinner event. The banquet manager was very friendly and helpful when showing me around the facility. The banquet hall itself is also well renovated with a earth-tone theme, suitable for many casual and formal events. I would highly recommend Sandman to others based off my current experience.

Horrific. I woke up with bugs in the bed; it was a nightmare. Cockroach was crawling in the sheets! It’s absolutely filthy: pool is freezing and tiles are brown, layers of dust on the fan, dust on the ceiling, stains on the lampshade, rust in the bath. Not even a towel rack!? Elevator is cramped and slow. The room was 43C, the repair guy clearly did nothing. They claim to have room service but nobody ever answers. This “hotel” was a disaster, everything you can imagine to be bad in a hotel is there. It was by far the worst experience ever… and I’ve had a lot of experiences.

Not sure, why people say, you get what you pay for? No, it's not the Hyatt. It is a beauty in itself. It's 100 yrs old. The wood floors and antiques are beautiful. Small clean room. When I requested, no one above me, they moved me to a top …

Don't let the outside of this hotel fool you, the rooms are very nice and comfortable. The only issues are that the AC is inconsistent and the elevators are pretty slow. The hotel is in a great location though and has some excellent views!

I paid $269 CAD per night for a room that was about 2 feet larger in each direction than the single queen size mattress. There was no mini fridge, no microwave, about 18 inches of closet space and ONE OUTLET. I don’t mean one outlet with two plugs, but one actual plug. If the room was a corporate queen, how was a “corporate business person” supposed to charge their computer and phone with one singular plug? The room key failed multiple times, which was extraordinarily annoying because you need it to walk through almost every door and stairwell. There are only two elevators for an entire part of the building and all 11 floors, and they’re extremely small. Expect to wait more than 5 minutes for the elevators. You also have to slide your room key in the elevator to press any buttons, which is extremely inconvenient when carrying all your luggage. The drains in the showers were poor and water would back up in the shower tub, leaving you standing in inches of water. The hotel just didn’t feel that nice. I’ve had far better experiences in airport hotels. I would not recommend this hotel under any circumstances. The four seasons often has cheaper rates.

Staff was extremely friendly. Helped promptly. The room was tidy and had everything in it that we needed. The location was close to my venue perfect walking distance with other amenities all around.

With mixed feelings I remember this hotel.
2004 has been a while. A fire at the hotel on the first day. Luckily, only one frit burned in the kitchen — but the hotel was evacuated.
Otherwise the hotel is very well located in the city centre.
You can reach many sights on foot.

Great location, excellent check in speed. Underground parking very tight. Good sized rooms with comfortable beds. Appreciated extra pillows and blankets. Adequate number of towels, hair dryer and good water pressure in the shower. Coffee in room with mugs instead of paper cups and water glasses. Tv quality and channels not great and no bedside plug ins for phones. Room was very clean and had a neutral smell. Convenient to have 2 restaurants in the building. Walking distance to both Rogers Arena and BC Place.

The beds were amazing. Went there with my two kids. They let us check in early which was a huge plus. Would stay there again. Room was great.

Had a blast! 2 adults and 4 small children, and we loved it! Room wasn't as small as shown on website. Put up a playpen with no problem and lots of windows (room 424). Pool was a blast for the kids and hot tub was HOT, just the way I like it! Thanks for cleaning the hot tub, it needed it! (People peeing in it made it really dark yellow, yuck! )

Cozy and clean rooms. Comfy beds. Vending machine by the hallways. Fitness center and pools. Amenities include Wi-Fi in rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. About 4 blocks away from costco and lots of fast food/restaurant options nearby.

I think the best part of the hotel is that it is very close to everything! Of the stadium and the world of science, which are interesting places to visit. Besides being a few blocks from Chinatown. The hotel itself is very cute, it has all the possible comforts… To a pub, restaurant, gym, pool, etc. Very complete!

Basic Sandman hotel. Rooms are decent and clean. Nothing fancy. The location is excellent for events because it is within walking distance of BC Place and Rogers arena area. Transit is near by. There is a pool and hot tub. No continental breakfast is offered. It is attached to a restaurant/bar so that's a bonus.

Room is tiny which was fine as we were only here for one night for a concert. Housekeeping woke us up at 8am and continued to keep us awake because you can hear everything in the hallway for your room. That was not fun after drinks and a late night concert. Elevator was tiny and sketchy and only one was working but our tiny room was nice and clean. The location for our concert at the Staples arena was great. The shark club restraunt had good drinks and the food was decent. Overall I would say this place was only ok.

I went to Moxie's restaurant in the Sandman hotel for dinner and drinks. I'm only giving 3 stars because the waiter told me that the drink special was a double vodka for $7. Of course, I thought that was a great deal and even repeated "a double for $7? ". However, it turned out that he was mistaken and the drink contained only a single shot. Keep your servers correctly informed! Otherwise customers end up getting the short end of the stick.

Very clean, comfortable and fair price.

The rooms were nice and clean, staff are friendly, located pretty close to Robson and Granville with lots of food options. Shower kinda sucked, and there was a network drop beside the shower which was kinda weird. There was a balcony if you like shuffling. There was a moxie's and shark club attached to the hotel. Lots going on at the hotel, was a little far from the training I was doing but you can't hold that against the hotel. Viable option when your in the area.

This place is nice. Its a bit busy being in the centre of the city, but it's nice and close to everything. Comfy beds, wonderful staff. Close to any type of food you want. Better then your average sandman hotel.

Terrible beds inside of a dumpy room. The staff are very friendly and the lobby area is clean and nice however the rooms are in desperate need of a renovation. My mattress was slumped in the middle and should have been replaced a while ago. For the price there are better options in Vancouver.

The heater was broke in our room which made it almost unbearably hot for our stay — if not for that I would have went on the side of 4 stars. I think this hotel is great for visiting downtown, a great location close to lots of great stuff. A rather compact hotel but the staff was very helpful for me figuring out parking, I was also glad that parking was so easily managed in a place that's stressful to drive.

Have stayed at this hotel multiple times, both for personal and business functions. Never have had any complaints as staff is friendly and accommodating and close to various venues in Vancouver. Rooms are spacious and pricing is fair for location. Worthwhile hotel to stay at in downtown Vancouver.

Clean rooms, decent place. Oddly there was no towel bar (like what you place your towels on) in any of the rooms of people I talked to at the conference. Some rooms were missing a fridge. Walls are pretty thin, but still got a decent sleep. Beds are extremely comfy!

A little decrepitude… but well located.

My dad arrived for a work trip and booked the hotel ahead of time. Upon arrival the front desk agent told some lie about a burst pipe in the room and said he couldn't stay there. It was already quite late (11 pm) and my dad had no options. The agent assured him he found a great room at another hotel — Kingston. For anyone living here, we know that the Kingston is a total bed bug ridden dump. I can't believe that they now resort to tactics such as this to get occupancy and their hotel that they don't bother to update. Anyway, the Sandman agent told my dad that a taxi would take him there and there would be the best room in the hotel waiting for him there and he apologized. We stood outside for a bit but there was no taxi, so we walked there. Upon arriving — surprise surprise there isn't a "top" room they could give us. After mumbling on the phone with the Sandman agent, the Kingston front desk agent checked my dad into a standard regular old room, hopefully it wasn't too uncomfortable. I am shocked that the Sandman would pull something like this. Frankly if I wasn't so shocked and embarrassed for them I would have demanded to see this so called "burst pipe". What a joke and a scam they run. Stay away!

I had a good time durring my short stay at the Sandman. It was close enough to walk to Gastown and the staff gave me directions and a helpful map. They staff in general was very helpful (wake up calls, taxis, directions, local information) and I never felt like I had to wait. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. My only complaint was the towel was short. All in all it was a good stay.

Clean and nice-looking, although the service isn't the best. We (and another two guests) were turned away because we didn't have credit cards with us. We booked online with a credit card, and nowhere on the site did they say that we needed the physical credit card with us. My friend's father who provided the credit card information called the hotel's manager and was told to stay on hold, just to be hung up on. He called again and was hung up on again. When we did have the payment and credit card business figured out, they sent us off for being under 18, which is understandable to policy, but something that also was not clearly listed on the site.

Sandman Downtown Vancouver is a bit old baking. It smelled a bit musty/damp when we entered our room, especially when the air conditioning was running and cool. For 2 people there was only one, 40 m bed. The room was overall very tightly and light polite.
There is an indoor pool.
Breakfast was served at Moxie Restaurant on the second floor. We belonged to a tour group for which the same breakfast was ordered for everyone. A plate of scrambled eggs, 2 buttered slices of toast, 2 sausages, bacon and roast potatoes with ketchup. Not for everyone. Coffee was great.
But it was otherwise very well located to discover some of Vancouver's hightlights on your own in a matter of minutes. For a drink, head to the nearby Central City pub. The offer tons of home-brewed beers and cider blends. The bar counter is great to sit.

Small rooms, windows broken, breakfast too little offer, no scrambled eggs, no sausages. Room door does not close.

The service was excellent and the food and drinks were great. It was a large venue with plenty of room and a good A/V setup. I recommend this place for anyone hosting a medium to large event. Ours had approximately 150ppl.

Staff helpful at front desk and generally in this busy hotel. Agree with some of the comments about need for more updating needed compared to competitors, to be fair some was under way while we walked around. Also significantly cheaper than others. Our rooms and other areas pretty clean and tidy. My kids and I are looking forwards to using the pool.

Clean, central and reasonably priced. The rooms are on the smaller side but had everything I needed. Beds are pretty comfy. Even had a little fridge. A. C. Kept the room at a perfect temperature for these hot Vancouver days.

Decent hotel, area is Central to downtown. Walking distance to market. Restaurants are good. Rooms need upgrades and new decor. Friendly staff and good service. Only gave it three star because of old rooms and small size.

Went to Moxie's located in the lobby and had dinner and drinks before a concert. Great service with delicious food and awesome drink specials. I stayed at this hotel about a year ago and the room was very neat. Good location if you are from out of town to watch a concert or sport event.

Great location, decent sized rooms. Room had some damage to it. Bathroom door wouldn't close. Nice staff.

Pretty basic, for a fairly high price. Pool and hottub were unavailable for our stay which sucked.

Reasonably priced hotel in the downtown area. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice but slightly smaller than the average room. The beds are very comfortable! The lobby included a small business centre, a sitting area with sofas and access to the Moxie's attached to the hotel. All in all it was a pretty nice hotel.

So I booked this room a month in advance for the Ellie Goulding concert, and was quoted 130 dollars plus taxes. I booked the room, but when it came time to check in the guy at the front desk checked us in and had mentioned we could park in the underground parkade to their hotel as long as we displayed our paper parking permit and did not park in a specific zone which I did not. The next morning, I went to go and check out of the room, and another guy said; ''Ok that will be 250.00 dollars please''… I was so taken aback, that it took a few seconds to register… I said excuse me 250.00?! I booked this room a month ago and was quoted 130.00 plus taxes, the fellow also said plus 27.00 dollars for parking… I still had to end up paying 150.00 for the room, even though at this point I was not very happy… and first off no one told us that we had to pay for parking, and I was quoted an entirely different price, also the fellow at the front when I checked in didn't say anything about free continental breakfast and not to mention there was a random guest who walked into our room the night before and the door was locked! When we phoned down, it seemed like no one cared that had happened when we were just changing a few minutes beforehand! Overall not impressed with the service at all, but I will only come back because it was the perfect location for what we needed it for. Zoe.

Cheap rooms, great front desk service, everything was clean and tidy. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi was borderline unusable from the room. Additionally, the walls were thin enough that it was too easy to hear the loud conversations of other patrons coming back to their rooms at the wee hours of the morning.

No room service, despite hotel advertising room service available between 6am and midnight. Called for room service around 10:30pm and were practically hung up on "No room service on game night! ". The next morning we called for room service around 8 am and then again at 8:20am. Finally we got through at 8:30 and someone else equally surly said they were too busy to take orders that morning. Basically this hotel advertises a service that is non-existant. Won't return.

I had good customer service with very little problems. The area was nice as it was no less then 20 minutes walking distance to a lot of attractions like stanley park. Lots of good food around too. The hotel lobby guy was nice enough to warn us about certain areas that aren't so safe, and gave us suggestions on some resturants to eat at. Our room was clean and the pool and hot tub was nice. I do wish they had better tvs. Prices was fair and I am looking forward to staying again.

Definitely needs some modernization, especially to the swimming pool, it has the advantage to be in a very convenient location. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I got there on a discounted price from hotwire and it was fine, for the full price they usually ask, I would probably look for something else.

Been here for two hours it's now 430pm and still waiting for our room. Awful smelling parking, they should pay you to park in. Elevators are a complete waste of time. Snail pace front desk staff. Never again.

Terrible customer service. Room was not bad. View was nice. Damaged and dirty furniture.

They overbooked for the night we were supposed to stay here. We arrived to check in and were informed that we were "randomly selected" to go stay somewhere else of less quality, but still had to pay the full amount. We will not return.

Worst hotel ever. I found a little bit of blood on the bed which might cause serious diseases. i wont stay at any sandman hotels again even for FREE and I won't recommend it to anyone as well.

I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying in the Vancouver area. The rooms were very clean and nice. But most of all was the customer service, they absolutely helped us beyond belief when we were in a pinch, and were most helpful. Without them, our trip to Vancouver wouldn't have been possible and would have been ruined. Great people and a great place.

I stayed here with family during a visit. The rooms were pretty nice and the Wi-Fi worked great. But my visit did not go as planned. First of all my truck got broken into and I lost about $1500 worth of stuff. I know they have a waiver and I am responsible for my vehicle. That being said the camera surveillance was non existent. It was pointed at one parking spot and I did not work in the dark. If you claim to have parking security make sure it works. I could have parked on the street. Also, I felt quiet upset having to pay $50 extra charge for parking fee while I lost $1500 worth of stuff and a broken window on their parking lot. Housekeeping was also very annoying as she knocked on our door every morning at 8 am and told us to get out on our last day before 11am. Checkout is 11 am and no need to remind and bug me about it twice before that time. Wont stay here again.

Clean mattress, decently comfortable — (I've slept on very expensive bricks at other hotels) clean room, heated pool and sauna. For the money, it's not bad.

If I could give this place 2.5 stars I would. I have stayed here twice, both times I was with a family member and going to a concert at Rogers Arena. The first time I was with my dad and we had a good time. The staff was nice, the hotel was not crowded and our room was nice. The second time I was with my mom and IT WAS AWFUL. The hotel was extremely busy and the staff was rude, and took their time and wasted time. The staff was also quite rude and unclear about things. Our room was fine aside from all the outside noise and air conditioner that was super nosy and kept my mom up. The Wi-Fi did not work at ALL. I would not suggest going here unless you can handle it for a one night stay.

Staff is terrible. Rude. Appear to despise your existence. Smiling is alien concept to anyone who works here. Shouting is the norm in this hotel. Elevators are absurdly slow. Very noisy due to never ending housekeeping vacuums. Wi-Fi is disastrous. Doesn't even have HD cable TV. Even the parking setup is incredibly stupid. The only good thing about this place is the location.

I stayed there two nights with my dog (along with all my friends and their dogs too) during a pet expo. Nice place. Friendly staff. Very cool location. Better hotels allow hippies like me to stay there with my dog. Love this place. Mm.

As were in the summer of 2008 in Vancouver, the Sandman Hotel Georgia Street and I must say that we were fully satisfied. The hotel is so well almost everything by walking can be done (the shopping street Robson Street is directly un the corner) and it is also to many other attractions just a short distance. Who wants to explore Vancouver with the car is also well taken because the hotel has a guarded TG. The food at the shark club bar or in the Moxie's Classic Grill I can only recommend.
