La Casita at Midas Belize

$200 for this place you're better off to move on this place is not worth $200.
It's a great place if you'd like this shit pipe running out right underneath the cabin. That's just one thing. We booked tonight and couldn't wait to get out of here they wouldn't give us more than hundred bucks back for the second night and we had to three rooms. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else.

Nice 3 star hotel, and a great value for what we paid (about USD $100/ nt in mid Jan). Our room in the main building was small and simple, but clean and comfy. The small fridge came in useful, especially with a supermarket right across the street. The location was great — a short walk to town but far enough away to be quiet at night. The staff was friendly and helpful, the restaurant had good inexpensive breakfast (the only meal it served), and we enjoyed the pool and pool bar. A lack of maintenance keeps it from being more than a 3 star hotel — for example broken reading lights and safe in our room, and broken or sagging seating around the pool (but enough useable seats to go around) — but for the price we paid were more than satisfied and would recommend the Midas.

The family cabin worked great for our family of five and we spent a lot of time in the pool. We really liked being close to but not in downtown because a lot of the restaurants were a short walk, but it was still quiet. We really appreciated the butterflies and the short hike behind the hotel. Too bad it was flooded and we couldn’t go fishing.

This was a really cool place to stay, it was our accommodation in San Ignacio on our Intrepid tour. I loved my cabin (16), and the swimming pool was nice and warm and open late for night swims!
Shame San Ignacio hasn't got much going for it, it's really just a stopping point to see the caves/archeological sites around.
The bar was good when it was open, but it didn't open the second night of our stay.
The restaurant was good and did a great breakfast!

This is a great place to stay when in the San Ignacio. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The pool and bar are great And the small restaurant on-site is fantastic.

This is our fourth time at the Midas as a couple and the first time with our teen daughters. Our first time in the main building. The room was more of a suite. We had our only king bed of the trip, a large closet, full kitchen and large bathroom. Also, the only stay where the girls had their own beds. We love the Midas. It is nice to see the improvements they have made and are making each time we visit. It is a close walk to town. The little restaurant has good food and the pool bar is great! Owned and run by an awesome man! Pool area is nice and inviting, with many different sitting areas. The staff are kind, pleasant and helpful. Water pressure was fine most of the time, except once when I think many tourists were using them at once after a day of sightseeing.
It is not a fancy hotel but it has what you need and definitely feels like you are in Belize… which is what we are looking for!

Pretty unique hotel offering 'jungle' chalets as rooms, a nice shaded restaurant and a vibrant pool with great bar. Yes, dated in areas, but great for a simple stop-over.

Close to town to walk to restaurants & shops.
I had been travelling as part of a tour & this was my least favourite. I didn’t find it overly clean. The bathroom had dried toothpaste at the sink, the mirror didn’t look like it had been clean & there were dirty splash marks on the bathroom walls.
It was a nice pool. The bar can’t charge to your room so I started a tab. I ordered a cocktail & the barman said he would make it & bring it to me at the pool. Waited half an hour & could see him making & serving drinks for others who waited at the bar. Mine never arrived so I went back up & told him not to bother — he said he had forgotten.

The accommodation is very good, stand-alone shacks with effective air conditioning and very decent showers. Though we didn’t use the pool, it was well attended as was the poolside bar. An interesting butterfly conservation project on site behind the accommodation is worth a visit as is the trail through the jungle and along the river, easily accessed nearby.
On the minus side, there was no provision for making a cup of tea or coffee, no supplied water etc. Also, the on site restaurant is rented out to an outside business so when my chicken meal arrived quite raw internally, the hotel owners said it was nothing to do with them. I had swallowed some of the chicken before returning it. The business admitted it was raw and didn’t charge for my meal but I feel very lucky not to have fallen ill.

This hotel is in a good location. It is right across from a newly opened modern supermarket. We took advantage of the proximity of the market to fill up on snacks, toiletries, etc. The Hotel is a short five minute walk to the downtown market and some nice restaurants. We also sent postcards from the post office in town. It was not expensive at all.
The hotel also has it's own nature walk that takes you past the Butterfly Garden and down to the river. We walked the trail several times.
The hotel has two types of accommodation, rooms within the building itself and small cottages/bungalows behind the main building. We stayed in the main building. Our room was large and clean. The rooms are air conditioned. The shower worked well. Our only complaint about the room was the condition of the towels that we were provided with. Some were actually so threadbare, they had holes in them and we could see right through the towels themselves.
The breakfast that was provided was buffet style. It was good and had many choices. A good way to start the day. The office is located next to the hotel and that's where you pick up towels for the pool. The pool itself is excellent and well maintained. We cooled off there several times.
In some ways, the hotel reminded us of a hostel with so many students staying there. This of course meant some loud parties at times, but nothing was too annoying. The staff was very friendly and professional.
