Midas Belize

Bungalow rooms are very cute. AC is almost works too well. Very easy to walk downtown, plus a supermarket right across the street. The pool is perfect for lounging. Bar has amazing drinks, and the restaurant has great breakfast food.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Great to use as a hub to explore town. For the price paid, it is definately not worth it. Upon entering the cottage, it smelled like it had been mopped with dirty old water. I messaged the front desk and they sent the housekeeper. She came with a bottle of some mixture, sprayed it on the floor and dry mopped; then commented we should keep the bathroom windows open to air the room (ummm, I think not as it is hot! ). The AC made loud noises and temperature fluctuated alot, despite not adjusting it. There was an old recliner in the room. Bit sketchy looking so we were hesitant to sit. We threw a sheet over it as my toddler wanted to be in it.
The Pool… very horrible conditions. Very clorinated that within 2 to 5 minutes, there was a film on your skin. It turned my aunt's white bathing suit cover to yellow. There was no visible working circulation unit and that is needed since it is also opened to the public and not only hotel guests. We spent about 20 minutes in and we exited. This was a bummer for us as we chose this hotel for the pool as well.
At the pool side, we ordered chicken fingers, stuffed jalapeno and ceviche. It took about 1 hour to come. Had we not paid for it already, we would have cancelled. My toddler fell asleep waiting for his chicken fingers 😩
We ordered a round of drinks at the bar, paid and went to sit down. While in the pool, we saw drinks being served and taken to people.

New owners working to improve facilities, but definitely coming back.
Excellent location, with on site restaurant and both grocery store and markets in easy walking distance. Cabins well appointed for meal prep if eating in.
Pool is a definite plus!

Midas Belize is a nice, quiet hotel set in lush foliage at the edge of San Ignacio, a short walk (5-10 min) from town. For us this was a huge plus as it is quiet and tranquil. Midas is very close to the market, which wasn't particularly nice (mostly fruits/veg and resale clothes) and across the street from the best supermarket that we saw in all of Belize (though still small). Also very close to Guava Limb, a very notable restaurant. The hotel itself is slightly more rustic than the pictures present. Rooms are very large, comfy and clean, and AC worked well. Coffee pot didn't include coffee or filters. Refrigerator worked well. We stayed in 2 deluxe king rooms (side by side) in a building with about 8 rooms. The walls were paper thin. I would recommend a stand-alone cabana instead. Pool looked nice but it rained while we were there so we didn't use it. Made-to-order breakfast (not included) was very good but really slow. Didn't eat dinner there as planned as the menu was limited and ambience just wasn't there — garish LED lights and sparse decorations. Would stay here again in San Ignacio.

Our room was poorly decorated, lacked some amenities and wasn’t as clean as it could be. I wouldn’t mind all this if we were staying in a backpacker place — but we paid $250 USD for our family room, and for this price I’d expect better. It’s nice to have a swimming pool though and the location is good!

Stayed 2 nights in December. Very close to town/local market (the market is a must-visit and the best place to shop for cheap souvenirs and fresh fruit/produce). Grocery store and fried chicken place across the street was convenient. Facilities at the hotel were not the cleanest (clumps of hair around the pool, trash in the stairwell, clogged drains, general wear and tear) but the a/C was strong and the bed was comfy. A good budget choice for exploring San Ignacio. The bartender and his daughter were lots of fun to hang out with and they had a great happy hour. Fry Jacks at breakfast were delicious.

Convenient location. Nice balcony. Lovely pool. Great restaurant & bar. Excellent staff. Needs better water pressure. Needs hot water quicker for showers. Otherwise, staying there was a wonderful experience.
