Metro Hotel Perth

Overall Verdict:
If you are strictly looking for an affordable, well-located place to sleep on a budget and only care about a comfortable bed, this hotel fits the bill. However, if you expect thorough cleanliness, active maintenance, and proper daily housekeeping, you may want to look elsewhere. It is a decent budget stopover, but definitely has room for improvement.
Pros:
-The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the bedding was perfectly clean.
-The pricing is highly affordable and budget-friendly.
-A very handy and strategic spot on Canning Highway.
-Free parking available on site.
Cons:
Room Maintenance Issues: Our first room (Room 43) had a strong damp carpet smell, a cracking bathtub, and outdated walls. We changed to Room 13, which was in better condition, but the shower floor leaked water directly out into the hallway.
The rooms are quite dusty; there was a visible coat of dust on all tables and the phone.
Disappointing Housekeeping. Room cleaning was minimal. They only changed the towels and made the bed, but the floors were never mopped or vacuumed; and for two days, our rubbish wasn't even cleared.

Most rooms are fantastic. I've had one with a slightly obstructive view, but over all a very comfortable place at a good price. Food service is excellent in hotel restaurant.

We have recently stayed at the Metro hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We had a room with a balcony which gave us fantastic views over Perth. Our room was spacious with everything we needed. Housekeeping service done each day. We loved all of the meals we had during our stay, and loved the Happy hour at the hotel bar! All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Easy access by car, bus, Uber into the city. We would definitely stay here again 😊

The customer service at this hotel is extremely poor. Every single staff member I interacted with was rude, unhelpful, and lacking even the most basic manners. Simple courtesies like saying “good morning” seem completely foreign here, which is unacceptable in any hotel, especially one that charges premium rates.
The restaurant service is also very poorly managed. There is no clear separation between guests who have breakfast included and those who do not, which makes the entire experience confusing and frustrating. Given the high room rates, breakfast should absolutely be included by default.
Housekeeping was mediocre at best. The room was not properly cleaned — the staff merely made the bed, and even that was done carelessly. No real cleaning took place during my stay.
Overall, the atmosphere of the hotel feels more like a backpacker hostel than a hotel intended for business travelers or families. I travelled from Sydney to Perth for business, and staying here was a huge mistake.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good hotel with an amazing view from our balcony room. Conveniently located for us to visit family and easy access to the zoo and the South Perth foreshore which has a good choice of good restaurants. Rooms need updating, they are a bit tired and old-fashioned. Good size with sofa and desk. Nice TV and decent fridge. Kettle supplied with mugs and glasses. Basic bathroom. There is also parking on site.
I think this could be a nice hotel, there’s an empty block of land beside it, that could be made into a nice garden or add a pool. Give the outside a tidy up and update the inside. From what I’ve heard when we booked, it seems to have bad reputation but we were pleasantly surprised, the staff were super friendly and helpful, check in was easy.
When I booked online my payment was taken twice, but the mistake it was rectified immediately and upon arrival the staff member apologised and gave me a voucher for a complimentary drink for us both.
I personally would recommend this hotel if you don’t want to pay city prices. But chose the city view balcony rooms on the higher levels.

Good hotel, just needs updating, rooms are tired and dated. Saying that they are comfortable, clean and have a good sized fridge and tv. We opted for the room with a balcony and had the most amazing view of the city. There’s parking above and below ground. Staff were very friendly. We didn’t have the breakfast but if we stayed again I think we would choose to, as it smelt delicious. Good menu for meals aswell, very reasonably priced.

We stayed here for 2 days check in was easy & staff members friendly, but was not told how to connect to hotel Wi-Fi but just used our internet, room was clean had a put out lounge to sit on very low & uncomfortable especially to watch TV as TV was fixed to wall & needed to be tilted to watch it properly. The view was of the main road but traffic noise was Not a problem. We had what the hotel called a big breakfast had 1 pice of bacon 🥓 you could have poched, fried or scrambled eggs 🥚, a quarter of 🍅, & small serving of mushrooms two pieces of toast, & triangle piece of hash brown, tea, coffee, fruit juice no fruit was included or saces where extra like 🍅 or BBQ. Staff where friendly & helpful.

Dont stay here! Horrible little place. The rooms are old and smelly with stains and mould all over. Sticky floors and broken everything. Tried to call room service 3 times and the last time they picked up and hung up on me! Besides all that the other major issue is it seems to attract alot of trashy people, I was woken up at 3am to people partying and yelling in room nextdoor. Also people on balcony above me were smoking and throwing cans off balcony. Its almost like a government housing building! Really nasty place. Should have some sort of inspector called in on them and be shut down.

This is definitely an older hotel, but the rooms were super clean, and the staff were friendly. Easy driving/Uber distance to the South Perth foreshore and restaurants. We booked for New Year's Eve and the views across to the city from our balcony room did not disappoint. The hotel breakfast was a bit of a let-down, but this did not detract from the enjoyable experience we had overall.

Hi there just stayed 2 nights at metro hotel south Perth and couldn’t be happier! Nice spacious room with a view of the city and swan river. Great price, great service, great food and when I forgot my Apple Watch in the room on check out I was promptly contacted by the hotel 😊😊😊 Big shout out to the cleaning staff honesty and integrity! The outside of the hotel looks a bit sketchy but it is completely different inside. We had a great view of the city from the balcony. Room was clean but basic, comfortable beds. Staff were friendly with a fast and easy check in. We would definitely stay here again.

Average Hotel but the view was 10/10. Location was very close to Perth CBD. They didn’t have water during check in so you have to buy water bottles. Food from room service was excellent. Freshly made delicious. They also have underground parking, swipe your room card to enter the parking underneath.

Unfortunately the room we had was outdated and in need of a good clean and refresh. Carpet was wet and room smelled mouldy due to leaking window from rain.
Toilet leaked and taps were hard to adjust.
Views are amazing and onsite parking was great.

Firstly, reception staff are lovely and beds are comfy! But not much else. Found cockroaches crawling in our room. Bathroom was outdated. And milk in mini fridge for coffees and teas in the fridge was off, I didn’t realise to even check and my 5 year old had taken a few sips, only to end up with serious food poisoning for many days. So frustrated and disappointed. Would NEVER stay here again.

I was really disappointed. I paid about $450 for two nights, which isn't cheap, and the service and everything else felt like a one-star hotel, which was disappointing.
I've stayed in Metro Sydney, but Perth was truly disappointing.
I checked out at 8 a. M. After one night and came back around 7 a. M. The room hadn't been cleaned. The shampoo, toilet paper, and trash were still there, and the duvet cover was still there. I called to ask, and they said they could deliver it the next day, which is I am check out but they didn't do anything and just let it slide.
I also had room service for breakfast, but the pancakes were already overcookedand bunt. And they charged an extra $5 for room delivery, and there were no facilities (except for gym).
If a three or four-star hotel offered this kind of service, it would be an embarrassment to Perth.
I've stayed at many hotels in other areas, but the standard was far worst.
The building was old, there was mold on the grout in the shower, there was no charger by the bed, and noise from the next room was incredibly loud at night. It seemed like a couple was enjoying themselves in the next room, but we were a family, so it was a bit of a hassle. And basically, there's no drinking water. It wasn't up to the Metro standard, so I was very disappointed and probably won't be back the Metro again.

Although this hotel looks "tired" from the outside, it has everything you need for a few nights stay. The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped with super comfy king size beds. It has both a restaurant and bar, which we did not utilise but the menu looked tasty and affordable. The view from our room was magnificent and the location was handy, within easy travel to the centre of town. Would definitely stay here again.

Reception was able to accommodate for an extra bed. Also the restaurant was lovely. Service was fast and food was lovely. The beds were uncomfortable and as I've previously had issues with cigarette smoke coming through the vents. The air con couldn't be used.
