Classic motor style motel… Missed the restaurant, but dinner in the bar was great and it seems to be surviving on local trade as much as the tourist market… Good room with all the normal amenities, good sized rooms and although the infrastructure is a bit tired, clean and tidy. All at a reasonable price. Great access directly to the top end of the historic site, used it as a base for the ghost tour and lovely to be able to walk one down through the site in the dark, just me (and those ghosts…)

Best thing about this place is its right on the historic site with own key access. It is what it is for budget accommodation. Staff very rude on arrival after reception is closed at lunch time and having to go into restaurant to sign in. Bar staff was fantastic to locals but appalling to to us holiday makers. After having poor quality food at top price. Went to family freindly bar, which wasnt family freindly swearing and rude bar staff. Will most definitely visit port arthur again but no way to the motor inn. On the room side very cold and damp rooms heater doesnt do much. Tassie winters are very cold. Toilet was filthy and very small shower with the hot water tap falls off.

My room was alright expect the room book having food smeared through two of the pages, and the location was good but, when we checked in, we were treated rudely and an elderly man was being talked by another staff memebed appallingly, just behind us. It was disgusting. We were treated poorly up until I hurt myself on your walkways. I tripped over a big dent in the walkway along the main building and I grazed my knees and hurt my ankle. I stayed here about a week ago, I’m now back in Melbourne and my ankle is killing me. Every time I stand up it hurts. Just a tip, make sure you TELL PEOPLE about the walk way to avoid you guys from being sued. If I had broken my ankle, I would’ve done just that. All I can think, what if an elderly person tripped over it and had a worse outcome than I did? Or if you guys can’t be bothered telling people, close the walk way up. You need to avoid people hurting themselves. Just don’t stay here.

An old-fashioned motel, which is another way of saying "minimal Internet access". You get a voucher for one device to connect (quota 200 MB), extra devices $5 per. The one big plus about this place, you have backdoor access to the historic grounds of Port Arthur — — you still have to pay the admittance fee, but after your day on the grounds of this amazing site, you can simply walk out the back gate (using your motel key) and you are at your room. There's no other reason to stay here (certainly not the restaurant). The room was fine.

My husband booked the officer's row ghost tour package, for a Valentine's day present. Includes one night stay, dinner for two, a ghost tour & breakfast for $285.00 we had an email confirmation stating we booked the officer's row 1×queen bed & spa room package? But we ended up with the guard's row room a double bed & no spa? (Due to tannin the water is brown and yucky) Yes there clean but we only got 2 bottles of water & 6 tiny curdling milk & jug but no coffees or tea & sugars? 3 staff out of 6 we encountered were lovely unfortunately we can't say the same for them all. We waited 45 minutes for tea only to get reheated dry chips and a porterhouse stake I could have killed someone with if I threw it! that's how dry & tough it was. My husband ended up with diarrhea from the scallops & we waited another 35 minutes for dessert that wasn't worth the wait! After a sleepless night due to snoring neighbors both side's! we left early without breakfast. So dissatisfied & mad. Make sure you check your booking details & have a copy ready so you don't end up wasting money (or like us the one romantic night we get per year wasted : (

Horribly rude reception staff. Definately did not feel welcome as a visitor to the area.

The meal was pretty average. There were two staff members and one was run off her feet while the other (the owner I assume) was often absent. The food was quite average but expensive. Probably paying for the location.

This is the 21st century and there is no room for homophobia in this day and age! I welcomed my friends to my home state, and unfortunately the very first place they stayed was here. The Manager was extremely rude and unaccommodating and refused to allow them to stay in a double room despite the fact they are legally married. Shame on you!

Excellent location, very convenient. Room was sufficient. Service staff were friendly and accommodating. The real winner is the restaurant, which had great good and a phenomenal view. There's certainly nothing flashy about this place, but it gets the job done.

Clean and cosy but POOR Wi-Fi service. Internet is essential as there is no network for mobile in this region.

Way overpriced by the standards here. The service was just passable. The reception was not open when we arrived in the afternoon. We wandered into an empty restaurant and then the bar before finding service. We were greeted warmly then, but the level of service deteriorated. The manager is cold and seemed to be simply tolerating our presence, and was happy to see us leave. Room pros: The room seemed quite clean and we were satisfied when the room was made up the next day. The air conditioning is great, bathroom sparkling. Room cons: We were misled by their description with our booking agent — our room did not have a spa as advertised or depicted. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the room small. The walls are very thin; we could hear our neighbour in the next room. The 'balcony' is a shared deck. Porch lighting flooded our room — my partner actually climbed on a chair to stuff a coat against the window at night so that we could sleep. We were warned by a staff member the Wi-Fi in the rooms was unreliable and it did prove to be useless. Our devices (laptop, phones) couldn't maintain a connection. There is also no data security — don't use it for anything remotely sensitive. I can't rate the restaurant or guest laundry. The continental breakfast is actually $10 pp for cereal, so we bought elsewhere. Parking: terrible — narrow, short spaces. Large car owners must park in a small area at the back so others can drive through. And won't always do so.

Friendly staff and clean rooms made this a nice place to spend a night. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was good. The bar was busy but small and lacks much seating otherwise we would have eaten in the bar as the restaurant lacked atmosphere.

Fantastic people made me feel very comfortable clean rooms and a amazing view of the historic site.

Nice cosy place and convenient place next to the Port Arthur historic place which you have access to. They also provide tickets to get into.

The rooms where great and being on site made it very easy to walk to the ghost tour I had that night 5/5 would visit again.

Perfect Location for the Port Arthur historic site. Food was delicious, rooms were a little run down though. Overall a very good stay.

The location was good, I can see why people like it with the view of the Port Arthur site however this was not really important to us as we were walking in the surrounding area. Everything seemed ok with the room, the bed was comfy enough. The lighting started to cut out in places and the fridge was unable to freeze a few cool packs in the 2 days they were in there. The fridge and the water pipes were very loud. Parking availability around the room was also a bit full. Staff were friendly, and the room was cleaned to an adequate standard excluding the long hair we found attached to the toilet when we arrived.

Nice clean room with small fridge and kettle. If you just need a bed to sleep in it's a good option.

Had been recommend for dinner, arrived at 6.30 to a half full restauraunt, we could see plenty of tables available and assumed that it would be no issue for us four girls to have some dinner. We politely asked the waitress "Ali" if it would be ok if we sat down for some dinner to which Ali replied "mmmmmmm… I SUPPOSE" rolling her eyes like it was such an inconvenience and said I'll have to make up a table. We were very confused as all the tables were already made up and we could see no reservations in the book. This entry set the tone for the entire dinner service, We felt so unwelcome intimidated and uncomfortable when she took our order and served our food. The service did not get any friendlier, at one stage she threw down a plate which was originally missing from our order… we would not reccomend visiting this pub, which is a shame because the food and views were lovely. Wish we could say the same about Ali.

Gave our confirmed spa room to someone else, were very unfriendly about it, got told to "f*** off somewhere else" by the manager's husband. Rooms are pokey, insufficient near-room parking, noisy bar on premises. Went to the Villas just across the road, who went beyond professional.

Simple but clean motel. Nice view over Port Arthur from the bar and dining room area. Warning to others that there is no phone signal in the area unless you are with Telstra and the Wifi here is not very strong and only allows a small quota of data.
