Beautiful restaurant, we were on our honeymoon & venturing around when we spotted Fox & Hounds (also recommended to us by friends) & it was delicious definitely the best choice to eat here!

Very friendly service & the food is delicious. A warm & cosy atmosphere & highly recommended.

The rooms are comfy and the meals are top notch. I had beef and guiness pie one night and the crispy skin salmon the next night. Both meals and service 10/10.

We had a delicious meal here last night, Parmi was one of the best I have had, kids loved their pizzas and the Flat head was also fantastic!
We didnt stay here so cannot comment on accomodation, but highly recommend for Meals.

Dined here twice on our trip and both times were amazing. Friendly staff, fantastic pub style food, simple done well. Wines and beer were on point to. Will definitely recommend and will definitely return. Thanks guys for your hospitality.

The brown water for a start very run down the meal and hospitatly at the pub was great would have loved to had the choice of veg with my meal but.

Worst accommodation ever stayed in. We stayed in 2 bedroom Villa. The water was yellow untreated and there was a tiny sign in kitchen which was hanging off wall so hard to see saying not to drink water so signing needs to be bigger. They did supply bottled water upon request. They should have told us at reception about water situation.
Restaurant long waits to order drinks and dinner. Male waiter was rude at times to patrons especially if they only wanted to have a drink even if staying at accommodation. Never again.

Most succulent, mouth watering steak that melted in my mouth. Helpful staff who were working under difficult conditions of a broken eftpos machine, but some how they managed to get me the takeaways l desperately wanted as l had no cash lol Great team work tbh!

Charming atmosphere in the bistro bar and lovely reasonably priced meals which were served fairly quickly. Fantastic water view from upper floor room. Handy to have microwave and nice cheap continental breakfast options. Bottled water supplied is good as tap water discoloured. Overall very happy, would definitely come back.

The room we stayed in had a very dusky smell to it, aired it as much as we could and sprayed deodorant around to make it smell livable. There were a few ants in a bedroom and the bathroom. We woke to the kitchen sick and windowsill covered it ants. The freezer could have been defrosted. It was discusting.

Classic pub, cold beer, good food amd warming service! Parmy was bang on! Place was packed, must be a favourite of the locals. Loved the style of the pub.

I live in Tasmania & even I found the heating in the room & especially the restaurant inadequate.
We came start of September, the room was very stuffy & freezing cold. I think if they know a guest is coming they should have the room ready & warm. Once we got the heat pump going it warmed up after a while. The sheets are cottton (cold). No electric blanket & inferior quilts.
The restaurant is freezing. It has a log burning fire as do we & it was barely alight … it should be lit in the morning & kept fired up all day. I sat with my ski jacket on eating dinner.
Someone also said check your air cond (heat pump). It’s full of dust.

What a little treasure this place is. The staff are very friendly, always smiling and can’t do enough for you. The rooms are clean and the views we had from our window was stunning. The meals we had were to die for. Give the panacotta a go, you won’t be disappointed. Thank for a wonderful experience, I cannot recommend you enough.

What a great way to end our trip to Port Arthur a stay at Fox & Hounds Inn. We had a lovely dinner, a few drinks, couple of games of pool and lots of laughs with friends. The friendly staff have been wonderful even giving advice on what beverage would match our dinner selection. Our 2 room apartment was well priced and suited our 2 couple, no kids travel accommodation. Would also suit a family. This accommodation is located in walking distance to the waters edge and has a great play ground for the children. Would return again!

We spent 2 nights here in standard accommodation and were very impressed with our room, I wish we had stayed longer. The staff were wonderful, and friendly and the meals were great. We will be staying here again when we return.

The best parmi in Australia, we had the Mexican parmi, will drive the 4 hours to try all the other varieties. A chef that can cook a steak to perfection and a pub that oozes warmth, atmosphere and friendly genuine service.

Love the Tudor style decor, wood fire in winter and a simple diverse menu. Oh the food is good for price, staff friendly creates a great atmosphere, most enjoyable.

Clean accommodation. Great view from our room of the bay. Very pretty. Stayed here when we went to Port Arthur. Great location. Has an amazing little old English style pub with great food and good service. Cant go wrong with a place that includes breakfast in your accommodation. Awesome atmosphere. Would stay here again. Old and quirky, but it is something you dont see often. Staff were friendly and helpful, the meals were honest pub grub and overall represents good value for stays of a night or two.

Pros: nice building, warm inside. Cons: food very overpriced, and below average quality. When you order food over a bar and there is a jukebox playing, it feels much more like a pub than a restaurant.

Clean neat room, easy going stuff. Unfortunately thw towels of iur second night were basically rags and the shower taps were below my knees. Except for these 2 things it was fine.

Wanted to book for a Tasmania Holiday but looked at the reviews and noticed that there was not much changed from the time we stayed there. Very bed beds and the restaurant "not up to scratch". When we ordered dinner, there was nothing left to choose according to the kitchen because a school came in. Nice for the other guests…

Lovely lunch spot after visiting Port Arthur Historic Site. Staff are absolutely lovely, food was delicious and lots of drink options. Quaint lunch location with hunting lodge decor.

Kids loved this place. We loved the English look, it was a great first stop for getting a feeling of history. Could do with an improvement of facilities. Kids playground is a bit of a joke I thought. Expensive to eat here — though that is mostly a Tassie thing I think. Our room was quaint. Though a bit smelly. Damp/old smell. No other place we stayed smelt, so not sure if it is due to the location, the age or just need more air freshener Water was yellow. Yuck.

Cool spot in an otherwise neat place… And maybe it's an Australian thing but… what strange pizza they served us. It was very "goopy".

PRO'S: Dinner food in the hotel — delicious! Heating in the room. Friendly service staff. Nice location. CONS: $15 for breakfast is a bit pricey considering it is just toast, cereal or fruit, no filtered coffee (only international roast). Beds need to be updated and rooms are a bit dated overall.

Was a great place to stay to see port Arthur clean, friendly great food at the pub. Excellent heating. Beds well they were a bit ordinary. Rooms a bit tired but hey I really would recommend staying there.

Fantastic location although the rooms do need to be updated, unfortunately our pizza was over cooked, the G&T was great.

Seriously I live in Tasmania and this hotel needs serious attention! The rooms are very old and dirty and in need of a makeover! This is near Port Arthur and you would think with the amount of people visiting the hotel would be up to world standard! It's not! We couldn't even get a coffee from the restaurant after 10pm. Not good enough Tassie you need to lift your game and stop ripping off the visiting public! Would not stay at this place again!

From the moment my family and I walked in the door, the staffs attitude made our presence seem like an inconvenience. Despite the fact we had booked, we were told to leave by a certain time. Customer service from the staff was appauling, both pizzas (hawaiian and margherita) had no sauce on the base and the chicken parmigana had no sauce or ham. There was also hair in the pizza. Was refused a change to the order because the "chef got a bit obnoxious when changing the menu" — quote from staff. Paid $110 for food that was inedible. When staff were confronted with our complaints their indifference was loud and clear. Do not recommend Fox & Hounds Inn EVER.

We had a fabulous meal, the service was very fast, and the best seafood pasta we have ever eaten! Love the ambience of the place. Motel room was very neat and comfortable, with a lovely view of the water. Will come back for sure!

Great location in terms of access to Port Arthur. Accommodation is in need of upgrading but comfortable enough. Restaurant provides good food.

Stopped in to the Fox and hound after reading about it. I was impressed by the food. It was fresh and very well presented. The eatery was a nice room. But the staff was not so kind. The waitress made us feel unwelcome. I don't see why paying customers are such a huge burden. Especially when the food is quite pricey and the kitchen was slow. Otherwise a great night out.

We were very hungary so stopped here on our way back to Hobart from Port Arthur — should have waited! Found the young staff to be less than friendly and the food was both over priced and lacking flavour. Glass of wine was thimble size. Lovely building with a true British Pub feel to it.

Could be so much better. Getting very tired. Lovely setting and close to Port Arthur. Happy hour was good value, meals were pretty ordinary.

The Wifi didnt work. The water out of taps is brown. Nearby barking dog that does not stop. Rooms nowhere near as good as the photos.

Standard pub food and good variety of drinks. Can be quite busy so book early if you have a big group.

Had dinner at the restaurant recently. A lot of the reviews here are accurate, I likened it to an episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen nightmares, there was a clear lack of communication between the kitchen and front of house as the kitchen was clearly over worked and people were leaving. Our pizza's arrived early only because the people they had been made for had left, but then we got brought our pizzas shortly after. Why were they made? I'd suggest that the owners watch kitchen nightmares to get some ideas on how to fix this as it's pretty poor service, although the food was ok.

Very much in need of renovation! Could be a great place to stay, nicely located. But the owners read everything go off. Breakfast is a joke and costs extra.

Friendly helpful staff. Double bed in our family room was very comfortable. Dated but had everything we needed. Free Wi-Fi worked well.

Welcoming and staff friendly & helpful. Cabin suits our little family perfectly, tho the windows are needing a little cleaning attention. We tried the wood-fired pizzas — really, really good! Having different pizzas again tonight — they're that good. Restaurant staff happy, helpful and willing to accomodate personal requests. Fairly high prices were the only we didn't too much more on the menu.

Super greasy pizza took forty minutes to come out, when I was one of the only people there. Inquired about it after 30 minutes, didn't get an explanation as to the delay once it finally arrived. Place was also freezing cold — tiny distillery I visited just down the road had a fire going, but the Fox apparently doesn't do heating.

Best thing is that this place is really close to Port Arthur. Accommodation is OK, food is pretty good value. Not the best place we've ever stayed, but OK for the night.

Stayed at the for 2 nights first night went to dinner at the restaurant… Took 40 minutes to have our order taken and then a further 1 hour and we still didn't get out food… We ended up walking out… We were not alone, there was 3 tables beside us in the same boat waiting 2 hours plus… The rooms were not nice at all very bland and really out dated… Second night we tried the restaurant again but room service this time, they could serve half their menu cause they ran out of pizza bases… Came in a reasonable time, but the food tasted very average for its price, I would class it as expensive pub food… Unfortunately Port Arthur area doesn't have much to offer in the ways of dining… Was the last 2 nights of our Tassie holiday and Fox and Hound inn was a huge let down…

Pretty tasty meals, lovely place. It would have been nice to not have 2 tvs showing 2 different things in such a nice place.

Tudor style building, plenty of parking. Olde world atmosphere inside. Quite dark and rather cold even though the fire had been going. The food was pretty good for pub food. Menu is a little limited. Pizza menu is good. Very friendly service where it's all about you. The place is a bit tired and could do with a spring clean. The prices were very reasonable. Not a long wait for food to be served.

A very cosy and warm atmosphere with an outside sit around fire. I enjoyed a delicious seafood platter with a locally made ginger beer. Would definitely go back!

Yummy comfort food in Tudor style pub surroundings. I had chicken parmy with chips n salad. What most impressed me was the moist chicken breast. The tomato sauce was not too rich which is good but could have been a little more seasoned. 11 yr old was happy with the kids schnitzel. 7yr old would have been happier with the hawaiian pizza from pizza menu rather than the mini frozen pizza and chips from kids menu but he reakons after seeing and trying my parmy that's the way to go next time. Fish of the day was Black Trevally, hubby had that wishing there was more of it was so good. Dessert topped it off. And they carry Pagan Cider… yum.

Half the price of Port Athur and twice the view. Close to the Tas Devil places. The water preassure in the shower was awesom! Better than any other I have had in Tas. The room overlooked the bay and we enjoyed the sunset from bed. Then we got to see the wallabies hanging out. If you are looking for a nice getaway in a place that looks like a German Chaet, this is a great place. The biggest negative is a lack of vegitarian option in the hotel pub.

The Fox and Hound Inn is quite a pretty sight as you come around the bend to Port Arthur, but I implore you not to stop… Unfortunately my partner and I were visiting the historic sight during peak season and left our accommodation booking a little late. When we arrived to check in we were impressed with the main building; it really does have a British pub feel. If only first impressions did last; once we walked into our room I was first hit with a musky smell of stale carpet. The bathroom and floor were not just dated but actually dirty. The tap water is dirty (literally brown). For some stupid reason against all our instincts we decided to go to the inn for dinner. Mistake. We both ordered the roast… It was dry. It was bland. Veggies were flavourless, I think the store bought frozen ones are better. I could deal with this if they drizzled it in plenty of good gravy, but they couldn't even do that. Most of these things aren't major but as they all add on top of each other they leave you with a bad taste in your mouth ;) I may have given this place an extra star if the staff weren't so rude… This is the first time I have given anywhere 1 star, I hope whoever is running this establishment reads this and improves it. I also hope no unsuspecting tourists like us don't ruin their day.
