We are a large family and needed two large rooms for our party. Everything was clean, neat, and tidy. The staff has been absolutely amazing and supportive with ever request.

Beautiful and Historical hotel, Nice Views, Friendly staff, spacious rooms, Nice and Quiet place. Just Love it.

We loved our stay at Rydges Hobart and wish we could have extended our trip. I couldn't fault the hotel in any way — our room was amazing, it was spotless and extremely clean in every way, food was delicious and room service was prompt. Being a young family there were a few times we needed to ring reception for a change of sheets on our child's bed or extra towels and blankets — never once were we made to feel this was an imposition. The staff are genuinely kind, friendly and knowledgeable. We loved our stay and can't wait to return.

Attended a 2 day training course at Rydges hotel in Argyle street. They were given notice in advance of my dietary requirement and could only manage some fruit and a tomato, lettuce and cucumber wrap over both days. Most of the time they forgot and had to be reminded. Very disappointing.

4.5 had wonderful night celebrated friends wedding.

My family stayed here for our trip to Tasmania to celebrate my husbands birthday. The staff went above and beyond in making sure we had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable.

I actually didn't get to stay due to weather cancelling my flight but the customer service I experienced from Jenna and her empathetic and warm understanding, helped make an upsetting situation much better. She cancelled our booking and was genuinely sympathetic to my situation. Jenna, you're a star, I will definitely be re-booking with Rydges Hobart in the very near future and recommend this place to all my Sydney friends.

Great big room. Huge TV. Great bed. Hot water could have been set hotter. Wine and drink glasses were dirty. Restaurant nice. Bar service excellent.

Becoming a regular visitor here. Great place with a variety of different rooms/suites. Friendly bar and dining service, surprisingly great food too! Always a pleasure.

The property has historic charm and a location convenient to numerous restaurants and attractions. Rooms are spacious and attractively decorated. It is necessary to climb stairs for some rooms, so not fully handicapped accessible. Because there is no heat in the lounge room, it is not very usable in winter.

I attended a first aid course which was held in one of their rooms. The course was very good and the facilities were fine. The reception attendant was friendly and helpful when I asked for directions to the first aid course.

Brilliant hotel! Such beautiful buildings, clean, spacious room and great price. It's also certainly worth becoming a rydges priority member… Cheaper room rate. Highly recommend this hotel.

Great location and fantastic service. Stayed in the top suite which was better than expected or imagined. 4 poster bed and big spa bath made a fantastic night away. Highly recommended.

Big room poor facilities. No where to put clothes — — no draws 3 hangers. Bathroom big no containers to place toothbrush etc. One tiny rubbish bin. Microwave no dishes spoons etc. No table. Paid money to live out of 2 suit cases. Walking distance to town 30 mins. We didn't realise we had to carry our suitcases up stairs no lifts we are in our 80's. Have stayed in better backpacker's there rooms at least have places to hang your clothes etc.

It's the best I've been in years, I think the Bed is great. Very comfortable. It gets better when you realiser how clean. Roomy, not like other smelly Hotels. Iam impressed with this one, also have great Breakfast very nice…

Situated about a 30 minute walk from the city centre. 10 minute walk to Elizabeth Street restaurant hub. 30 minute walk to the Royal Botanical Gardens. Clean spacious room in this old but newly renovated hotel. Ample car parking. Only issue was that our room did not have air conditioning but did have a fan, a bit stuffy on hot days. Jenna the receptionist was a credit to Rydges.

Nice place. About a 1km and a 1/2 walk to the waterfront. Food was nice, albiet usual hotel prices. Very clean, room was great. Lounge area seperate from bedroom.

I originally chose to stay in this hotel because of its beautiful historic buildings and they did not disappoint. The rooms are newly renovated and the large king bed was comfy. Rooms 1-8 are on the main road so there is a fair bit of road noise but not enough to keep you awake at night. Our room was fairly dirty and looked like the towels may not have been changed from the people that stayed previously. The mugs/cups/spoons were dusty with marks on them.

Good price. Rooms are decent and beds comfy. Walking distance to Elizabeth Street full of great restaurants.

This is an unusual hotel set in a heritage building with large rooms and sweeping staircases. I found it quite charming and the room was very comfortable. Our window looked over the North Hobart Oval towards the city. A few minutes walk gets you into funky North Hobart eating area, or across to the Queens Domain. Hobart CBD is manageable as a walk too.

Loved our stay here. Beautiful rooms, given a free upgrade (thank you). Staff friendly, charming heritage feel, food just divine. A little way from CBD but well worth it.

Rydges Hobart is conveniently located near Elizabeth St, which has a wide variety and shops and cuisines. The room is quite nice, taking inspiration from the early 1900s but adding a few modern technologies. Staff are friendly and approachable.

The Rydges hotel in Hobart is an interesting combination of heritage listed buildings, blocks reminiscent of drive in motels and home style hospitality. The staff were very friendly on our arrival and through our whole stay. Personalized service and they were keen to help. The rooms were large and the room I was in was recently renovated. The bed was a nice combination of firm and just soft enough to sink into. Bathroom was well appointed with boutique soaps and shampoos. Breakfast was plentiful with a hybrid cold buffet with added on hot plate that you order separately. Free Wi-Fi though the campus was fast and good strength. Only things letting the place down was limited availability of food in the evening. Nice stop if you are in Hobart and looking for well priced accommodation.

It's was wonderful stay! Smooth check in & Smooth check out… Wonderful, friendly staff… not a single hiccup… we were given upgrade and was allowed early check in which we were not expecting. Special mention to Jan (Duty Manager). Renovated clean modern room and still keeping the old things to make it look different. View from the room was beautiful. Breakfast is highly recommended, it was different then usual hash browns, baked beans etc… highly recommend to stay at this property.

Lovely room. Had an enjoyable stay. Had a couple of issues with the bank holding a second payment for sometime. The staff were awesome and friendly and helped me sort it out. Great customer service!

Much better than expected stay, the cheaper rooms are similar standard to what I expect for similarly priced rooms in 5-star hotels in bigger cities. But be warned about the lack of air conditioning which can possibly be a problem during the odd summer heatwave (not sure if they have them in Hobart). If it weren't for the recent renovation work, I'd probably rate my experience as 2 stars, there are still really old and run down areas like the corridor upstairs in the main building and the Manor Grill. Because of its somewhat remote location, I often took some Uber rides to go to the eateries on Elizabeth St and this was pretty convenient if you don't want to walk all the way down and up. I would look forward to another stay.

For budget accommodation, Rydges was a pleasant surprise. Timber panelling with matching furniture and small balcony were appealing. Receptionist's small talk tended to the inquisitorial with similar effect after 5 hours driving. Will stay again.

This place is recently renovated. I would say it is par with any 5 star accommodation. Don't bother about all the negative comments you find online. (Most of it made prior to recent renovations). Highly recommended.

Very very old & dated room. No TV in the bedroom & mould in the shower that I cleaned myself before getting in… Whole place in desperate need of a makeover. Only stayed because it was book through work if I had a choice would not have stayed elsewhere.

Very very tired and dated hotel. Do not be deceived by the pictures on the website. They needed an upgrade 20 years ago! The hotel furniture and the look and feel of the rooms is ancient and very dated. The furniture is probably from the 1950s! That includes the bed, carpets and pretty much everything in the room. Just think that you are paying to stay in Nanna's house. Tried to use the kettle in the room, got a rusted smell when boiling water. Requested for a different one from reception but got nothing. Bit of an indifferent attitude from staff. Also the hotel is in North Hobart. So it is a 30 min walk, bus ride or taxi ride into town. Its not the most convenient. The rooms are large by conventional standards. So that is a benefit. You get a lot more floor space. Unless you get this hotel with a great rate and breakfast included, I would spend a few dollars more and get a nicer place closer to Hobart CBD. We got this for about $130 per night with breakfast. Next time around I will pay a bit more and pick something better closer into town.

Rydges Hobart located in beautiful North Hobart close to cafes and restaurants. Just 5 mins drive to the city, Salamanca Place and many fantastic attractions. Rooms — tho a little dated are clean, warm and the beds are AMAZING! Great food and service. Can highly recommend this as a place to stay if ever you visit Hobart.

I hosted a Murder Mystery party on Saturday night for my husbands 30th and it was amazing. Jennifer was most helpful right from the start and nothing was too much trouble. We were a bit apprehensive about it being dress up and perhaps a bit rowdy with murders and mayhem but we were welcomed and encouraged to be guests there. The room was perfect and well suited to the 1920s event we are hosting, we got a discount on a room for the night which was also spacious and had a wonderful view. Hayden was a delight and helped us with all our needs on the night and the girls attending us were very friendly and diligent. The food was beyond our expectations. Delicious. I'm very grateful for all the help and support we were given and just want to say thankyou to your wonderful staff. A grand venue indeed, I would have no hesitations in recommending Rydges to anyone looking for an event, meal or room in future.

We had our wedding reception at Rydges last weekend, everything was absolutely amazing, the food delicious, the staff fantastic, we used joining function rooms which suited our needs perfectly as we had the dance floor, dj, photo booth and children's table set up in the conjoining room, everyone had a wonderful time and everything went perfectly, we stayed in the presidential suite which was just perfect for photos, also lots of photo opportunities in and around the building. But most importantly, I will never forget the service we got from the events manager Jennifer Fluri, she was absolutely fantastic! So helpful, she really put my mind at ease with so many things that I otherwise would have been worried about, she clearly had a lot of experience at what she does! Thank you again Jennifer and all the staff at Rydges for helping make our day perfect.

I think the rooms have a bit of soul. I like the raised aspect and view south over the grounds. There is loads of parking, which can be an issue with some hotels. Ample space for a twin single (and I have stayed in a king too). A small gym is available, for which you can use your imagination. The staff are great, I had a novice check me in, and the other girl was very patiently helping him out with the details. Well done. I have stayed Here a couple of times for work, and would definitely stay with the family on holiday.

Lovely rooms, clean, tidy and a lot of character. Beautiful grounds and gardens. We enjoyed a drink at the bar, small but nice, and right in the midst of a lovely restaurant district. Would definitely come stay again.

We visited recently and meet with Jennifer to view a function room for my husbands upcoming 30th. The room was exactly what we wanted, the staff helpful and the atmosphere magical so needless to say we booked the room, and a guest room for us to stay kids free on the night and are busy planning a fuss free cocktail party.

Pretty much all the other one star ratings sum it up. Imagine staying at your grans for $150 a night.

Large sized rooms, comfortable king bed, good size TV, close to city centre, clean. However the rooms are very very dated. If you're looking for a modern hotel, look elsewhere, the rooms are in need of a major refurbishment. Otherwise no issues. Very dated.

Absolutely disgusting. The bathroom smelled disgusting, there were broken tiles and scum. Both rooms we stayed in were extremely dirty and horrendously neglgected. Random bits and pieces in a cupboard, the internet, oven and disgusting kitchen and television didn't work, the whole room was basically broken (we moved rooms after complaining, yet still the service from the staff and next room was appalling, the staff did not care about helping us, they had a rude 'superior' attitude, which they don't deserve to have). It was basically the only place available in Hobart, and nowhere in the city had free rooms so we had to stay there. The website advertised no actual photos of rooms, but instead a boat wheel and a chair. They advertised the hotel as some heritage vintage hotel but it's just old and rotten. It was actually an overpriced nightmare staying there. Faulty towers called, they want their hotel back. Can you even call it that.

Stayed for a 10 minutes, then left it was terrible, disappointing and dirty. Check in and was in formed that the hotel was been occupied by some visiting soccer team and that they had booked the gym and swimming pool for their exclusive use only and it was unavailable to everyone else : ( Then we got to our room, old and dirty. I looked around and found the light over the bed not working (not a big deal) the carpet in the corner untucked where the wires were going into the wall, (also not a deal breaker) But the shower, miss matched tiles, dirty moldy silicone, along the base of the shower, and a dirty shower base. I took a photo of the shower and headed back to the reception, Was she surprised NOPE, Did she care, no. Was I happy NO. The hotel only had one room available, a twin single room, Since I booked a king room, this was not acceptable. Was offered a refund which I took, and only after I had gotten my refund was told I will get my money hopefully back in 3 working days. Will I ever book with Rydges again. No. Will I post photos of the rooms shower yes. Will I tell my experience to everyone yes.

This was absolutely appalling! Where to start? Masquerading as 'heritage', it is nothing but shabby, down at heel, and grimy. We paid $200 a night via our travel agent (Flight Centre) and our room was definitely not worth that price. Our room had stained carpets, dust, rust, and cigarette butts on the balcony. The abundance of the brown out-dated furniture made for a depressing interior. One cupboard had a massive hole punch and when my daughter sat in one of the arm chairs, she found a large ball of someones hair (obviously not cleaned thoroughly). The heater wouldn't work well, the curtains were difficult, if impossible to draw. The layout of the room was inconvenient for example: You can't watch TV in bed and you have to walk through the bathroom to get from the lounge room area to the bedroom. A truly awful experience and the staff didn't seem to care less when we expressed our concerns. Avoid at all costs! very deceiving website and photographs. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Enjoyed our stay at the Rydges, very old building like an army barracks. The towels were plush, bed comfortable. The head housekeeper was especially good at her job with great customer service skills and made me feel very welcome. Some feedback for the room service. When I phoned down for food to be delivered the guy must have been busy or tired because he said " It will be up when it's ready" Seemed a bit blunt.
