I really liked my stay in Hobart Hostel. Very clean, quiet, and comfortable Hostel. The manager and the staff are very friendly people. Also I liked the hostel’s great location and the private car parking. Honestly I felt like I am in my second home and I look forward to coming back at the earliest possible opportunity.

I'll be honest, I was pretty skeptical of this place at first… but it was all misplaced. This place is great! It's sooo much better than all it's competitors for a private room at this price. Tony (the host) is amazing. So helpful, polite, and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable, the kitchen was well supplied, and the common space was lovely, clean, and well maintained. The whole place is quiet and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place.

A good, family managed hostel: welcoming, clean and comfortable. It is a few blocks away from the little CBD of Hobart however it takes 5-10 minutes to get to all the main shops and tourist service areas. There are plenty of great food options nearby including the excellent Eumarrah bulk food supply right next door as well as Indian, pizza, Thai, Cambodian, etc.
Manager and staff were always happy and willing to help if there were any questions.

Horrible place to choose. Didn't enjoy stating here. Old, dirty facilities like kitchen. Photos on the app and reality are totally different. However, it is quite, silent and safe; unless someone opened your room door without knocking.

Really easy going service great kitchen and good clean standard rooms.

Professional staff, good location, reasonably nice premises for the price. I would definitely recommend staying here over other budget hostels.

Good, solid hostel.
At 10 it is really very quiet, the kitchen is quite clean, the rooms are a little small but adequate storage-and floor space for bags, backpacks and clothes.
Shower and toilet are very clean, I can recommend:)

Stayed in a queen room with ensuite. Room was excellent. Bed was comfortable and the room had everything we needed. I loved the large window facing the bed. All facilities were made available to us, but we didn't use any of them. Would stay here again. Good value for money.

Very friendly management who go out of their way to help you if you need it. Clean rooms, spotless and large kitchen. Very well priced for an ensuite room. Its also close to the center of the city. I’d strongly recommend this hostel for a stay in Hobart.

A clean and well run Hostel — Tony and staff are very helpful — single rooms were fine for the price plus large well fitted out kitchen and separate dining area with large TV.

The management was very concerned that I had injured myself. They took very good care of me. The other residents were very helpful. I would go there again.

Lovely place and a friendly staff. I got the private room and the bed was really comfortable and the heater worked well.

Couldn't ask for any more, room was comfortable and clean and the customer service was fantastic, staff are friendly and really helped us out when we had to alter our booking.

Hostel is center from CBD. Free street parking in front of hostel from 6pm-8am, so no parking problem. The room are very clean. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Kitchen are clean and big. I am impressed by the quality and facilities of this hostel. I would absolutely stay here again.

My expectations for this hotel were extremely low to begin with. I didn't book this accommodation because it looked fancy. At the end of the day, I only chose to stay here because it was cheap and located just around the corner from the venue I was attending a function at over the weekend. The staff were friendly upon check in and check out but took it upon themselves to charge my credit card for another guests accommodation as well as my own just because I happen to check in at the same time as them. My friend also booked a room at the hotel under his own name and on a completely separate booking. We checked in at the same time and checked out together. We didn't speak to anyone on checkout except for handing our keys over at the desk. The next day I see that I have been charged twice for my accommodation. After 3 calls over 2 days to the hotel and finally speaking with the Manager, he tried to tell me that my friend had pulled a swifty over his staff by telling them to charge his friends (me) credit card when they had trouble processing the payment on his. It turned out the issue was them entering his credit card number incorrectly. I know this to be rubbish because we both left the hotel at the same time and didn't speak to anyone about payment. The staff just assumed that they could charge my credit card for my friends accommodation because we were there at the same time regardless of the fact that we booked under different names and on completely different bookings.

The private rooms with ensuite are reasonably priced for a weekend away. Rooms are quite cold but once the radiator heater was up and running the room was warm (we did leave it on all day whilst we were out and about). The host is friendly and accommodating.

The staff were great, nice and friendly. Would have been nicer to have better bathroom facilities and proper parking and signage that indicate that you have arrived at the hostel. It was hard to find and I had to do alot of laps to find it and parking.

The room is clean. It is a quite place. The price could be less because we use shared bathroom! Location is perfect!

The location was excellent; just far out enough that you avoided all the traffic and noise but not too far out that you had to walk for miles or drive everywhere. The owner was friendly and accommodating, and was very approachable the couple of times we dealt with him. The room was small but that was to be expected from a hostel. The room didn't get any signal for the free Wi-Fi, which was an inconvenience. The toilet seat was a little dicky and as such moved around while in use. The shower cut in and out making it difficult and unpleasant to use. The room wasn't cleaned very well; the sheets smelt like old lady perfume, there was used soap with other people's hair on it in the shower, there was dust and dirt under the bed, and the small heater smelt when on due to the dust caked on it. There was a lovely skylight which was the only source of natural light in the room but the blinds covering it didn't shut properly so let in the early morning light. There was no parking at the hostel so I had to pay for street parking, which got a bit expensive. For a private double bed room with tiny bathroom I was charged $64, which after experiencing the hostel is too expensive for the quality of the room. There was an option when booking to request a quiet room, however I didn't sleep much due to the people in the room next to us making noise throughout the night and early hours of the morning. Overall I wasn't very impressed with the hostel itself. There is much room for improvement.

Efficient, friendly service. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Kitchen needed a good clean but that had no effect on our stay.

STAY HERE! Here is very clean and have a tidy kitchen. When I visit TAS and I stay here two weeks. It is a good experience at Hostel.

I'm an Aussie traveling around Australia and stayed at this lovely Hostel for a week when I first arrived in Hobart on the 2nd of April 2014. Owners / Staff — All very nice and friendly giving advice where possible. Dorms — 10 bed, 8 bed, 6 bed to hotel room style (ensuites) as well as offering mixed or Female only. There are options to suit. It is an old building. They are kept clean and sanitized daily. Bathrooms… although some use a light sensor to turn on can be a bit of a challenge if you don't move around enough keep the lights on. Toilets — Very clean also cleaned daily there is a good number of toilets available throughout the Hostel. Showers — Also very clean you don't feel the need to wear thongs when using them. Cleaned daily and steady supply of hot water. Kitchen — Very generous and the facilities (appliances) available, with ample fridge space. Common areas — Inviting and a pleasure to use when dinning, surfing the net, watching TV, or even playing guitar (I play guitar). Internet — Still on ADSL however that is not their choice. This Hostel appears to have the most reliable internet available. The network is set up very well to accommodate BYO devices or free use of the 2 desktops. You can also plug in or use Wi-Fi. It does become limited once upstairs but speaking from an IT Professional this is good quality. Conclusion — If you travel to Hobart this should be your first choice or only choice in short term accommodation.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nonconsecutive nights. It was exceptional. On the first night we made seared snapper with broad beans, and mashed potatoes. Delicious! At first I was nervous that the skin of the fish had stuck to the pan and would be ruined, but I let it continue to cook over medium heat without disturbing it and it released its self and was perfectly crispy. On the second night we had a huge bowl of spaghetti with red sauce and garlic toast. It was way too much food for the both of us but we ate all if it anyway. We accompanied it with a bottle of local unoaked Chardonnay. It was pretty good. Drinkable.

My French student stayed here on my recommendation and said it was fine but that the bathrooms were filthy. I was a bit disappointed to hear this because of the good reviews. I think perhaps greater attention to details could be given in this area. Wifi was not too hot either! Filthy bathrooms are a complete no no for me!
