We stayed here 2 years ago, my husband and I booked in for a week. But left after 2 nights. The bed in the first room we were shown had back wheel missing, so guy showed us another room while bed had no. Wheels at all and were thrown in the vanity cupboard by the door. The shower cubicle reeked of urine and hadn't been cleaned since the turn of the century so we wore our thongs when we had a shower. No towels, and had to ask for them. The bed had what we thought was sand in it at first, but when we couldn't stop itching and we were covered in little red spots, it was bed bugs. We left after two nights and stayed elsewhere. Better to lose a couple of hundred bucks than be disease ridden for the rest of our holiday. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Why people would stay here is beyond me. 2nd star due to the "entertainment" from the locals. Like being part of a Cops episode.

My recent stay at the Mermaid Beach Motor Inn was the worst accommodation I have ever stayed at. The room that my wife & I stayed in was dilapidated & old, curtains were threadbare & dirty with holes in it letting in light, covering the window to the front highway (not that you could see the it through the dirty window). The TV wall mount was broken so TV was just left leaning up against the bench. The bed cover was covered in stains to which for health reasons we refused to sleep under, thinking we could turn the "OLD" air conditioner to heat to stay warm, but surprise surprise in just blew cold! The vanity basin was actually located in the room near the front door not in the bathroom. The sliding door to the bathroom fell off it lopsided runner on seven occasions. I used to have a saying of "I have stayed in worse" but on this occasion it wasn't the case. $135 a night was an absolute rip off, avoid this place at all costs, would prefer a tent than have to stay here!
