Great location, our room was very clean and able to sleep 7. Central to every thing and staff were more than helpful.

Was perfect for one quick night. Many reviews say the rooms are tiny — ours was not. We had a window with a nice view, a small bathroom, and a comfy bed. That's all we needed. Thanks!

Historical building turned into Hotel in central Sydney. It's in a great location with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops around. The room itself was a little small but worth the price. We stayed here for the convenience of being close to all the sights of Sydney without breaking the bank and were very happy with our choice. The staff are friendly and help out with transportation and airport/transfers if you need.

A very small hostel, with quite compact rooms. For the price though, they are great, clean, and the staff at the hotel is very nice. The location is quite good as well, right in china town and a quick walk to the main downtown areas of Sydney.

Staff at front desk were nice but the hotel feels drab and old. Our family room had for some reason 3 double beds and 1 bunker bed without any chairs or table. George street outside was totally dug up due to the light rail construction. Surely the hotel could have sent some communication to people making bookings.

A great hotel in Chinatown. The doors lock at 9pm so you need the key code to get back in. Otherwise the hotel is somewhat of a maze, but it's navigable. I liked this place!

Friendly staff. The room is comfortable, although not spacious, but acceptable. The kitchen equipment is very complete, the cooking is very convenient. There are also washing machines and vending machines selling drinks and cookies.

One of the best priced hotels in Sydney. Beautiful on the inside. Wifi was unstable when I stayed here, but I believe them when they say it was a temporary issue. Staff is friendly and helpful.

If I say taste, I give full marks … Location gives full marks … But the comfort of … I'll give you a maximum of 2 points … The air conditioner is all grey … The bed in the room is also very poor …

Staff were lovely, room was clean, bed was large and comfortable. There was a tv, a minifridge and air conditioning. The air con was great for keeping the room cool but loud at night when trying to sleep. Water pressure in the shower wasn't great.

Boutique hotel located in Chinatown. Very central to Central Station 5 min walk. Rooms are very small but very clean. But there are family rooms available each room has minibar/fridge/air conditioning and television.
Free Wi-Fi very helpful staff.
Guest lounge available for cooking.
There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer in the guest lounge.

This is a good option for a short stay in Sydney. It's located on George Street, right near some great eating options in Chinatown. It's a real rabbit warren of a hotel in an old characterful building which looks like it has been recently refurbished. The rooms and bathrooms are small, but you still have tea/coffee making facilities, safe, Wi-Fi, flat screen TV and a small fridge. There is a guest lounge/kitchen on the first floor and the staff are friendly and helpful.

T's a bit unfair to say as I have stayed at this location 2 times, and the first time the service at the front desk was horrible, they charged my room 3 times and when I asked nicely if they were going to refund the 2 additional times the girl at the desk said "Not my issue" and walked away. The 2nd time a year later, when friends wanted to stay in George St, they wanted to stay here, and I was a bit dubious, but thought I would give it a 2nd chance. And the 2nd time was a lot better, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and it made the decision to come back easier, I explained later in reception what happened last time and the day manager apologized and said they pride themselves on excellent customer service generally, and that was enough for me. The rooms have that lovely boutique chic feel, and comfy, location is great and close to amenities, bars and transport.

Good rooms, a little pricey.

Strategic location in city center. It's easy to reach by walk all the most famous landmarks and attractions of the city. Really close also to central station, which is good for a daily trip out of the city. Rooms are small but clean.

It was a good stay for a night. We stayed at a shoebox room. Mind it, the stuff inside the mini refrigerator are chargeable. The hotel is right bang in CBD. Convenient location. Latest station would be Central. The rooms are clean. Had a comfortable stay.

Nice budget hotel at the edge of Sydney's international area (Chinatown). Popular with Asian tourists, who take over the kitchen area. Clean basic rooms, with ensuite bathrooms. I'd stay there again.

The staff was Great, Friendly & Helpfull, The rooms left alot to be desired and the location, for us, was terrible. It seemed more like a Hostel for "backpackers"! We honestly had No room to open our luggage, we had to open them on the bed and empty them into drawers in order to store the bags! The rooms were about the size of our Walk in closet at home! The location was in the middle of "China Town" If this is what we wanted we would have gone to Hong Kong, or Tokyo, etc. We, there were 4 of us, all Seniors, were not Happy, but, it was not the Hotels fault. Tripmasters who sold us the trip did not make us aware of this Location and type of Hotel. They did call it a 31/2 star, which is Usually O. K. But Not for Us this time!

Cockroaches. I would never stay here again. I woke up to a cockroach in my room which is obviously disgusting. I tried to trap it in a glass and it ran further into the bed and I lost it under the bed covers. I had to get to a meeting first thing so I had to bring all of my things into the bathroom and get ready in there. This hotel is super unclean, would not recommend. I told the hotel staff when I was checking out and they just said sorry and that they would get someone to clean the room (I was checking out anyway so it was a bit late for me). Another issue for this place — they've still got $100 being held on my credit card and it's 5 days later. I've already paid the full amount of the room and was not offered any type of compensation for essentially sleeping with a huge cockroach in their room. Don't even bother going here.

Close to the CBD and Sydney Harbour. The hotel is very nice inside. Air conditioning, spacious bathroom and living area. Staff are more than helpful and there is a nice bar downstairs to have a drink or something to eat before you go out. A very relaxing and comfortable stay. Great value for a hotel so close in the city.

Nothing special. Basic and clean. Not many powerpoints for charging, and the ironing board provided in the room is useless and infuriating.

I stayed at the pensione hotel for three nights and enjoyed my stay greatly. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to Chinatown and shopping. The building might be old however the interiors are all modern and most importantly very neat. Thank you pensione for the excellent room and friendly service.

Of course its not the BEST hotel around, but its fair priced. Its close to everything. The condition is good. Nice staff too. If you have been there before, you can get discount on your future bookings.

No room ready for us when we arrived so we had to get ready to go to a party in the lounge which wasn't the best but that's all they had as room wouldn't be ready until after 3 pm not not a good way to start then when we came back from our party they tried to charge us again when it was already paid for then they tell us we have to pay a $100 holding fee which we would get back as soon as we leave but we didnt we were told that we would get it back in 3-5 days the room was small I should of paid the extra $50 and gone to the ibis I wont be staying there again.

Inner city location still with decent if compact facilities. Complimentary Wi-Fi is slow but okay for your basic needs and there are plenty of other options anyway. Staff were good. Great for walking around Sydney as a launching pad being between Darling Harbour, Hyde Park and points in between.

I was so pleased I had chosen to stay at Pensione Hotel, Sydney. So convenient to everything I wanted to see and do. My room was great and the staff were most helpful. Where will I stay next time I am in Sydney? The Pensione of course.

I really liked the excellent customer service, cleanliness and convenience at the heart of downtown Sydney.

Great position, easy walk to Central Station. Rooms were clean and tidy and the staff very pleasant. Could hear noises from people out on George on Saturday night but it really wasn't that bad at all considering the position of the building. Will stay there again.

I am most disgusted with this hotel. I stayed there during a convention and paid $210 for my husband and I per night. The rooms were tiny and ours was very hot as the air conditioner only heated, did not cool and the window was unable to be opened. The TV did not work properly and there were no bedside lamps. The staff offered to change our room to one with an opening window and moved our belongings. When we arrived back at the hotel my insulin was not in the fridge and no-one knew where it was along with some soft drink. The management expected me to go to the emergency dept to get another prescription, at midnight on Friday! My CPAP machine had been packed in a suitcase with the water still in the reservoir and placed in the room on its side all the water had gone inside the machine. Luckily I was able to dry it out enough for it to still work. This room had a window that opened but was even smaller if possible and the bathroom door would only open if we squashed into a corner. I was very glad to leave and will never stay here again. Our friend had paid $10 per head more and stayed in the Holiday Inn with a huge room and magnificent view. She could see the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. We could see a roof and a brick wall. Great eh. I bet this review will not be here for long.

The location of the hotel was strategic — near Chinatown where there's heaps to eat, and also in front of a major bus stop. The interiors were very well-maintained and the decor is actually better than most hotels in its class. However, the proximity to George St may be a drawback, because traffic noises can disturb your sleep if you're a light sleeper like myself. We were there on the weekend, so drunkards made the noise issue worse. We were quite disappointed with the management, because they didn't take swift action against noisy drunkards who were also patrons of the hotel. I'm not too sure if I could recommend this hotel, because I didn't get a good night's sleep, although the room was clean and comfortable.

Fantastic staff, clean rooms with everything you needed. Noisy location and you'll hear the music from the club on the lower floors but a great experience and value.
