I was impressed as soon as we arrived our car and luggage (a truckload) were whisked out of our hands and taken care of by a beautifully dressed and friendly person.
The next surprise was the decor. Art deco. The foyer with its marble pillars wow. Beautiful. Again reception was welcoming and professional.

The Bar with its wonderful comfy chairs and a great selection of cocktails wine etc. Fantastic coffee. Staff friendly.
Wilmot restaraunt the food is simply devine. Again the staff especially Linnie Bang were very friendly nothing was too much trouble. Service was impeccable. I was very pleased with the hotel. The bed was comfortable. The staff were courteous. They had a fancy TV which created an ambience around the TV using background lights. My room had no view. It was facing a multi story car park. They have a nice bar and the decor in the hotel is lovely. There can be some improvements with the maintenance. One of the wardrobe door hinges were out.

My friend and I loved our stay at Primus. Just there for a two night weekend, the service provided by the staff was great and attentive. Our room facilities were brilliant, with the towel robes, slippers, iron etc. Bed was very comfortable and air temp was easily adjustable. Room service was top notch — pancakes were exceptional. Overall very happy with our stay!

A beautiful place to stay. This hotel was top quality. The room was gorgeous and clean and high quality. Room service expectation was set at half an hour wait, only waited 10 minutes. Food was excellent. Only criticism was that the menu wasn’t broad enough. Good quiet room. Quick check in and out. Receipts for accom and room service emailed. Happily stay there again anytime!

Dodgy on the outside, beautiful on the inside. Great service from the staff and the catered food was delicious. I didn't stay in any of the rooms, but the decor was very luxurious without being excessive. Rooftop bar was worth visiting when the event books out the space — very nice.

Very easy to miss, Primus Hotel is much bigger on the inside than you'd expect from the outside. 1930s heritage listed building, this is a very different 5 star hotel. Close to public transport, this is conveniently located. The food is pretty good. Pricy, but good. Highly recommended!

Huge congratulations and thankyou to the Primus Team. We spent the weekend with a large group of family and friends and all we were made to feel ever so welcome, everyone was impressed. The staff were amazing and friendly from concierge to front desk to housekeeping to restaurant/bar staff they could not do enough to make our stay a memorable one… Just wow, the hotel is simply stunning and our rooms were amazing. The food was divine and the atmosphere just perfect. Thankyou.

Our stay was a few months back, but this hotel was absolutely perfect. The staff treated us with the utmost respect and courtesy, the door staff even remembered my name and greeted me when I returned each day! The amenities and availability of everything was stellar, the atmosphere was wonderful, I cannot recommend the Primus Hotel enough. Amazing location too!

This is my second stay at the hotel. I love it. Basically I choose the hotel for the comfortable stay, the room decor, it's grandeur entranceand location. Plus the staff are always welcoming and courteous. Something very hard to do all day long. Attached photos are for the executive room.

Expensive upmarket hotel in restored former Water Board building. Hard surfaces of the cavernous lobby reflect every sound and the 'Soviet-era' architecture won't appeal to everyone. The food is quite good and there are a number of menu items that you don't find often. Prices are pretty stiff but they have a membership plan that is very good if you think you will eat here often enough — say six times a year. Service was pretty good. We were there on a Friday night and the food took quite a long time to arrive. The meals were only warm by the time they arrived at our table indicating that the problem was with the table service rather than in the kitchen. Definitely worth a visit.

We were absolutely speechless with our entire stay this weekend. From the room to the service we experienced, it was by far second to none. We were already excited to check in and get our weekend underway as it was for our anniversary but once we seen our room and the roof top bar we couldn’t get back to it from dinner quick enough. We wanted to thank you for the service provided, it was unbelievable to say the least, nothing was too much for anyone we spoke to and everyone had such kind and genuine words to say. Especially when asked what brought us to the hotel for the weekend, which we even got upgraded to the suite for. It was a perfect and memorable experience and we can not wait to book another stay at Primus.

We were in the seventh level for the end of month drink. The staff were all helpful and friendly. They all tried to maximise your pleasure. The place and view were all together good. The obvious design was also charming. I have no clue about the rooms and services over there as I have no chance to stay in a hotel in my residential city, Thanks.

The rooftop bar is good for a social gathering but could benefit from more shade for daytime events. The cocktail menu is varied but pricey, and the wine list is quite limited. Service was okay, nothing special but nothing terrible either. I would have happily given them 4 stars if they had not charged a surcharge to my card when paying with savings without any forewarning at all. The screen displayed $18 when I paid and I have been charged $18.27. Such deceptive practices when I'm already paying a lot for a beverage are quite tacky, especially when they are trying to present themselves as a luxury venue.

The owners of this hotel have done a spectacular job in renovating this building into a fresh and modern marvel whilst maintaining its vintage, Art Deco charm. The Wilmot bar downstairs is amazing but the rooftop bar absolutely takes the cake. There’s nothing else quite like it in Sydney. Sweeping views of the surrounding skyline and the most incredible rooftop pool.

We spent a total of 7 nights at Primus Hotel Sydney. The staff were very friendly and always courteous. I would particularly like to highlight the performance of Eryk (concierge) and Mia (receptionist). Our room (424) was located on a very quiet side street (Wilmot St. ) and so we did not notice anything of the noise of the city. It should also be noted that the rooms were very clean, tidy and spacious. The room equipment was very modern. The air conditioning in the room was very easy to use and ensured a pleasant temperature. The hotel is easily accessible by metro (Sydney Trains). The nearest metro station is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The station's name is Town Hall. From there, you can also reach the airport within about 25 minutes. The Wilmot Restaurant was excellent and the selection was wide. Also priced absolutely fine. Dinner at the hotel (The Wilmot Restaurant) was also very good. The hotel also has a rooftop swimming pool. This one, however, is a bit small. The Wi-Fi in the hotel is included and also good. Nevertheless, it must be mentioned that a new cloud crater (Greenland Centre Sydney) is being built right next to the hotel. However, there is no construction noise as a result. The hotel and also the new skyscraper are both operated by Greenland Group, based in Shanghai, China.

Often in life we are disappointed. With our stay at the Primus, that never happened — not even once. In fact, everything exceeded our expectations. Check in was swift & pleasant thanks to the lovely Rochelle.
Our room was very spacious & the air conditioning worked perfectly. The bathroom was fabulous with a huge bath & separate shower. The toiletries provided were top quality. … The pool & rooftop bar on the seventh floor were amazing & the Veuve Cliquot was flowing. It’s the perfect place to relax on a sultry summer evening. The bar staff were great fun & very friendly. Loved my breakfast at the Wilmot restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious with a wide range of hot & choices. Real coffee & freshly squeezed juices served too. Excellent service too. The building itself was the real highlight of our stay. Opened in 1939, the lobby & the original Art Deco features are outstanding. I️ loved my stay here at the Primus so much I’ll be back to celebrate my 50th birthday in April next year! This is certainly a very impressive hotel & I️ cannot recommend it highly enough!

Great space on roof. Foyer bar is amazing. We had an event of roof top bar. Big space and great views. Could be so much more. Need to rethink the space and work it into something — you get list in the space. Food is average which is really disappointing.

What a great place! It's like an oasis in the middle of the city which provides a great escape and an ability to wind down. Come here to relax with friends or colleagues and enjoy the drinks under the sky on the rooftop bar. The staff are awesome too. Highly recommended.

Honeymooners tripping up the coast. This has been our best stay, by FAR! The staff is pleasant, friendly, and accommodating — — especially Connie at reception! The room was outstanding. Modern amenities and style. Great bathrooms, comfy beds, everything you could ask for really. Stunning property! If you're on the fence, make the move and stay here.

This has to be one of my favourite places to stay for my trips to Sydney. Art deco style throughout the hotel with excellent service, amazing breakfast buffet and top notch cocktails. The rooms are very comfortable and yes there is a pillow menu. It has a charm about it, that my wife and I absolutely love.

The restaurant and lobby bar are excellent in all five star hotels in Sydney, and the Baroque décor is very contemporary. The location is very good. The newly opened rooftop bar is relaxed in style and has a good drink.

My room was spacious & supremely comfortable. Rochelle at check-in was attentive, friendly and a credit to the staff. The roof top bar and bistro is a comfortable spot for an after conference cocktails & food stop. What a pleasure to stay here.

Incredibly friendly staff, beautiful clean rooms and fantastic location. My sister and I stayed here for our weekend Sydney girl's trip and it was such a great experience. The trip was supposed to be her birthday present from me and Primus helped me score many a brownie points. They're located in the heart of the city and are a short walk away from everything — Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Hyde Park and the cbd. We were able to see everything in a day because of this. The rooms are spacious and elegant. Well stocked mini bar, large clean bathrooms with a bath tub and robes, lots of closet space. And the young lady at reception with a winning smile and great tourist advice was the cherry on the icing. Loved it! Only drawback (as is usual with most hotels) is that there are no vegan options on the breakfast buffet.

Room booking mix up but enough beds, rooms comfortable and full of amenities. Decorè is refurbished classic 20s. Pool has good ambience. Easily accessible (10-15min walk) to nearby attractions. Staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurant food is good value for money.

This has been one of the best hotels I've stayed in in Sydney. The staff made it an extraordinary expirence. The buffet breakfast in the morning was the best I've ever had travelling and the decor was beautiful and unique. I cannot stay anywhere else!

My favourite place to stay in Sydney. To walk thru the front doors of this hotel is to be transported back to the 1930’s. This place is Art Deco heaven, stunning inside and out. The marble foyer areas are magnificent and I could have quiet happily sat in the hotel foyer all day soaking in all that history. The deluxe rooms were very spacious and well appointed, I’ve also stayed in the deluxe accessible rooms which are available upon request and are very generous and well laid out. The bed is probably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve every slept in (that comfortable I emailed the hotel for the bed supplier details). The facilities at the Primus hotel are first class. The rooftop bar and swimming pool are a perfect way to relax after a nice day exploring Sydney. Importantly the hotel staff were all very friendly and attentive and always on hand to help or suggest ways to spend your time in Sydney. Being right in the heart of the city everything was a comfortable walk with the opera house being a 10-15 stroll. I have had nothing but good experience at the Primus hotel and happy to return. Just a word of note, at the time of writing this, here is construction going on next door to the hotel. Whilst this wasn’t a problem for myself and I don’t recall any noise this may be problematic for some.

Location is perfect, if you are in Sydney for shopping Unfortunately there is a construction site next to the hotel. Work starts at 8. Very noisy. We were on the 1st floor and smell of the fresh painting very strong, a bit less in the rooms. Water pressure was low and took 3 minutes to have at least warm shower. But staff was friendly. Also breakfast was great, lots of choices, fresh, would recommend to book it if not included in a room price.

The only downside is the construction happening next door. In March of 2017 the sound could be heard for a mile and makes the pool on the roof unusable.

As guests of 3 including a 6YO staying for the weekend, we like Primus very much for their friendly service in both dining experience at The Wilmot (great value for the food quality and friendly staffs! ) and nicely renovated guest room and bar/pool facilities. The only thing is the extra service charge of $5 per in-room food delivery, I find this is a very strange charge unless it was a built in rate for other hotels and I never got requested to pay extra for my in-room service. But I still recommend for any Sydney visitors to stay at Primus, handy location and great accommodation we recently explored.

What an awesome hotel! The building has been fully refurbished but retained it's historic character. Location is great with plenty of things to do in walking distance. Buffet breakfast is a must. One of the best with an immense selection of food including an omelette bar.

Hotel is part of a construction site. The noise starts at 5am with workmen yelling and machinery on the move and carries on throughout the day to the point it shakes the fittings in the room so dont expect to enjoy the amenities like the rooftop bar and gym in relative peace and quiet. If you've been within 1km of the area you can hear the noise. Its a shame because I'm sure its a great hotel when it's peaceful but this is all I'll remember from my stay at The Primus, and it was unfortunate that there was no warning at the time of booking that you're just a high viz jacket away from being called onto the job site.

Beautiful lobby and pool, kind and helpful staff, and comfortable accommodations make this a wonderful hotel. Intense, unrelenting construction noise outside makes it hard to currently recommend, however. It's not the hotel's fault at all, and I wish I could ignore it, but the level of punishing noise from the apartment building being constructed next door is almost surreal. I have never heard anything like it in an occupied city space. From morning until night, the sound of steel being tortured fills the streets and permeates the walls. I would absolutely stay at Primus again, but only when the nearby construction ends.
