Not very impressive area to have a delicious high tea. Some staff were professional, some not. Disappointing.

InterContinental is properly at the best location in Sydney if you plan to travel to sydney because of it’s location location location & has probably the best view seeing both the Bridge & the Opera House in their club lounge (cannot miss). Staff are amazing & so friendly. This has added a lot to our trip to Sydney, thanks.

Unhelpful reservations team despite my loyalty — loyalty only goes one direction.

We stayed here to go to Taronga Zoo and SeaLife Aquarium — as it’s the perfect location with easy access to the ferries. Love the historic and luxurious spaces in this hotel. Staff are all amazing and quick to respond to all requests. Rooms are very clean. And kid friendly definitely! The indoor pool is very warm and be sure you get your child something from the ‘little red wagon’ upon check in/out!

Great views from the club lounge, great service everywhere, great breakfast buffet.

Enjoyed the food eventhough we thought from the add there would be more seafood. No lobster, crab or a campus which was disappointing. The girl who looked after us, Joanna was delightful and did a wonderful job.

Wonderful experience. Concierge was very helpful in suggestions for our family. Traveling from the US we needed a wheelchair for my son, and they got that for him so he could participate in all the activities.

This is first hotel ask about our preference before we check in and arranged what our preferences are. Great view and very friendly staff. The restaurant is absolutely amazing. Variety of food for the breakfast! I highly recommend them to others.

Worst customer care or acknowledgment of loyalty ever. Waited one hour for paperwork for a refund and a week later and still have not received it. I sent two emails to a manager who gave me her business card and not a single response. Used to be a wonderful hotel but the service has deteriorated and non existent.

We have an entire family sitting around the lobby an hour and 15 minutes after we were supposed to be able to check in. Still no sign of check-in.

The location of the hotel is great. Our first room was booked as Eastern Harbor View which didn’t give proper view of circular quay. I paid 30$ per night to upgrade to full view of Opera House and Sydney Harbour bridge. Opera House was a short 10 mins walk. Room and amenities were comfortable. The staff was courteous. The only issue was incorrect label of pork rice as ‘vegetarian fried rice’ during breakfast. The staff did genuinely apologized but I reduced 1 star because of that.

Fantastic hotel. Been here on all sorts of occasions. Staying in the beautiful rooms, dining, having a coffee and meeting friends. This location is surprisingly great for the last two, not saying the accomodation isn't top notch or the food — they both are! THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST HOTEL IN SYDNEY! Definitely my No. 1 spot by a long, long way :)

The Intercontinental since my childhood has been a beacon of superior service, food and hospitality. For any desire to experience decadence I would recommend it. From The Cortile to Cafe opera. The place in Sydney to go to experience luxury and refinement.

Not on Macquarie Street. Dont care how they arrange the building. Hard to find entrance if driving your own car and then you leave through the bowels of the building. Room is spacious and well presented. Staff are super friendly.

A well decorated hotel with some classy features. Rooms are quite small but that's what you would expect for Sydney City. The restaurant/bar downstairs has some great nibblies and cheese. Only thing I didn't like was the price, not the greatest value for the size of the room.

Absolutly my favourite hotel as someone that regularly stays at different 5 star hotels Staff level of service is high they are very flexiable and go beyond the call of duty Recommend to look into the ambassador program as the benefit outweighs the cost if you use hotels regularly … Location was great. Excellent central location. The check in staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with our requests for pillows from the pillow menu fulfilled very quickly! The breakfast is exceptional. My only complaint about our stay was that the indoor pool could have been heated up a bit warmer, but the free weights in the gym sort of made up for that :) This is a fantastic place to stay and I'll be back again.

High standards in room finishes with layout to suit experienced business travellers. Lucky to get harbour view. Everything you"d expect from one of Sydneys best hotels. The heritage listed sandstone facade gives a warm and friendly feel. Can be very busy and noisy in courtyard. When it's quieter Live music sometimes gives you a sense of a being in a sophisticated night club. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

If you opt for the opera house view, get ready for an awsome sight. Just stunning view from our room, day and night. The room itself had comfortable beds and okay furniture. The bathroom and general standard is; old. I do expect modern solutions for a 5 star hotel to be 5 stars. This was not the case. It is a old hotel with old solutions. I guess the get their stars from other places than the rooms. The pool has a nice view of the opera house to, so if you feel like a dip with a view go visit it during your stay. Staff is friendly and helpful but the hotel itself does not justify 5 stars in my opinion. Breakfast is better, but five stars. No way. Location though, superb. Close to everything.

Awesome hotel. Location is excellent being a short walk to circular quay. Guest services was very helpful in allowing for an early check in and sorting out our room. View, even of the city, is excellent. Pool level is fun with stunning views of the Opera House. Beds are comfortable although a little small. Room is spacious with nice amenities. Value is decent, a bit pricey for what you get but it is supply and demand. Would definitely stay again.

I just has my wedding here in the treasury room. It was an amazing event with fantastic service and food. The hotel and treasury room are gorgeous. We also got the harbour view room which was amazing to stay in! The events coordinators also do everything they can to ensure everything is perfect and runs smoothly.

Great location. The Club is on the top floor and has a wonderful view. In addition the staff is helpful and the breakfast is good. We had dinner at the wine and steak restaurant on the Ground floor. Wonderful ribs. Knowledgeable wine server.

Wonderful Hotel. The comfortable and spacious rooms. The Wi-Fi works perfectly. The restaurants and bars are very good. If you book a room with views of the Bay Bridge of Sydney you will see that the fee you pay for choosing this type of room it is well worth.

Spectacular hotel! My room overlooked the Sydney Opera house, the bathroom huge, super clean, account with pod coffee machine and refrigerator is very important if one does not contract the breakfast there (40 dollars…)

Cafe Opera in the InterContinental, Sydney at Macquarie Street has seafood buffet for lunch and dinner. Very fresh seafood included fresh oysters, cooked prawns, mussels, calamari, blue swimmer crabs and baked salmon. The seafood was continuously replenished. Seafood Paella with lots of seafood was another tasty dish There was a variety of sushi. Also available were roast chicken, pork and beef with accompanying roast vegetables and tasty kumera (sweet potato) mash. There were several other cooked dishes served. There is a section for kids with dishes like Fish & Chips, pasta and vegetables. There was a wide variety of salads and home-made sauces. The desserts section offered many different types of delicious cakes, sorbets and ice cream. Different types of cheese and crackers were served. Service was good with very attentive and courteous staff. A very nice place for a meal with family and friends.

Excellent place to stay as it's near Opera house and Circular Quay. These places were like normal neighbourhoods for few days I was at this hotel. It is at a central location and Hop On and Hop Off buses have a stop just on the backside of the hotel which actually faces Royal Botanical Gardens and Government House.

My favourite hotel in Sydney. I stay here each time I am in town for work. Staff are friendly and efficient. Room service is fast and the food is very good. Big rooms which are spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed. Very helpful concierge staff too. Other guests very international. Americans, European, Japanese tourists and lots of people travelling on business.

Simply the best hotel stay my husband and I have ever had. The staff at the front desk are fabulous and calm, no matter how rude, arrogant and entitled some of the customers sadly behave. Last month we were blessed to be attended to by the wonderful Cassandra and other great staff at the desk. Cassandra — you are an absolute joy. The InterContinental is very fortunate to have you. The concierge staff couldn’t do enough with helping my husband to find the right screwdriver to fix my handbag. Thank you. Room service were quick, looked genuinely happy and efficient. Our suite was unbelievable — simply stunning. Then one week later when we returned from our cruise, the staff in your restaurant on the ground floor were very quick to swap the cappuccino I ordered, for an iced water, when they saw how hot and flustered I looked since ordering it. Simply the best hotel — well done on choosing your staff.

Bathrooms could use a sprucing up but overall the amenities were nice. Coffee capsules that are provided in the room are actually far nicer than the coffee available for purchase in cafe and room. Services were kind enough to promptly provide extras on request. The health club upstairs is very well equipped.

We were guests at a wedding there, the service was excellent and the food was tasty. Room space was perfect for the size of wedding and the set up was spacious yet cozy. Really enjoyed the evening! Parking was great under the hotel for $35 — huge convenience considering 2 kids were at my mum's house!

Checked in on a Wed, out on Mon. Great location. A 5 min walk and your at Circular Quay. You can catch a train, ferry, bus pretty much any transportation. Rooms were nice and large. Quiet, A/C worked great. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Very good restaurants in hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

I have stayed here a number of times and regularly visit the cafe for meetings. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food and drinks are to be as expected from a five-star establishment. I would highly recommend visiting the Supper Club as the view during sunset is sensational!

We arrived early in the morning from New Zealand and to my great surprise there was a room available. The reception desk was professional and courteous. The only issues I had were 1. Room is dated. Not enough USB ports for devices. 2. I ate breakfast in the atrium the service was sub par. Waited 10 minutes then had to go ask the Barista if I could get some service. She promptly told the waiter (who was engrossed with a trainee over the register) she then came and took my order. No apologies at all. 3. The meat and wine restaurant I would not recommend. All service was poor and food average. 4 last but not least Room service. Ordered a simple coffee, bread.

We are currently enjoying our honeymoon at the intercontinental Sydney. We found an excellent deal on Expedia and booked a suite with harbour views and that’s exactly what we got. We’ve had this trip booked since May 2017 and we are not disappointed. From the moment we arrived Neeraj (hopefully spelt his name correctly) collected our bags and took them to our room. He has been excellent in giving us some hints and tips of where to go and what to do. The concierge team have been brilliant in organising our trips and sorting out a booking at the Aria restaurant for us. Looking forward to this tomorrow night. We have not a bad word to say. The fitness suite and pool are a lovely way to start the day or enjoy in the middle. The breakfast buffet is lovely and fresh. It is constantly replenished and anything you could want is there. It’s a great start to the day and we’ve found it lasts until tea time so bonus as save money! We are here for another week and hope the good impressions continue as we plan to return in a few years time.

It really was a five star hotel. Wonderful views from the room and excellent room service. Staff were extremely kind. Buffet and high tea was incredible. Only thing was the room was a bit small because we had two double beds. Awesome!

Very good service, only if I bother to be delivered my room at 6pm when check in is 3pm. They moved my plans. But the view is amazing on the terrace on the 31st floor, but it's only for suites from now on access!

My company recently celebrated our Christmas party in one of the private rooms. Everything was great. Staff very friendly and the food was great. Obviously very easy to get to and a stones throw from the quay and opera house. Would happily recommend.

Beautiful Place the hotel Intercontinental excellent and very well located.

This hotel has literally the best bed I have ever slept on. I love to bounce out of bed and get started in my day. When I stayed in this hotel I struggled to get out of bed. Checkin was great. They have a great roof bar as well.

Weekend seafood buffet lunch here is pretty average for a 5 star hotel and the price they charge. The only seafood on offer were 2 types of prawns, rock oysters, mussels and smoked salmon. The hot food bar also didn't have too many options. The dessert bar had lotts of options but were only average on quality. The highlight was the strawberry sorbet. If you are looking for a nice seafood buffet feast with great desserts, you are better off going to The Feast at the Sheraton on the Park down the road.

I had a lovely stay at this hotel. I flew into Sydney to attend a performance at the Opera house and the location of this hotel could have been better. Service was friendly and efficient. Pillows and bed were a dream. Pool was heated clean with an excellent view of the harbour. Overall worth it for the price.

So far, impeccable service, however some rooms could be updated or just use some tlc. Things that are completely obvious are cracked tiles along eye-level in the shower (we're talking at least 6 to 8 tiles observed from a brief look). Other than that, location is almost unbeatable, presence is classy and we'll be back.

Wonderful Hotel with fantastic staff and facilities. If you can manage to stay with the intercontinental Club which gives you access to the 31st floor lounge area it is very worthwhile. Access to the intercontinental Club means you can get breakfast included with your room Twilight drinks from 5-7pm including light refreshments an unlimited access to one of the most beautiful areas in Sydney with the most incredible view the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the harbour and the Opera House. The rooms are a little small as is the bathroom hence why I haven't given it 5 stars, but access to the InterContinental Club makes it all worthwhile. In room coffee pods is a nice touch but sound quality is not that great as we could hear doors banging, weights being dropped on the floor from the above gym and an early morning vacuum from the staff so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

We went for High Coffee and the girls enjoyed the coffee martinis! I got a non alcoholic drink which was no fuss and we had a vegan at the table and they brought a selection of fruits for her! The interiors are gorgeous and the waitress was very polite and helped us take photos. Very friendly and would definitely recommend :) Also toilets on ground floor very handy and well kept! Comfy sofas. Parking is pricey so watch out for that.

Definitely not the best hotel I have ever seen. Hygiene standards are disgusting! Egg stains on the plates in club Intercontinental lounge, teaspoons get washed behind the counter WITHOUT DETERGENT. They seem more focused on speed then cleanliness. Worst hotel I have ever seen in my opinion.

The room was spacious and clean, everything you would expect from an InterContinental. Great location, just a few minutes walk to Circular Quay. Just note that they don't have complimentary bottled water so you will have to bring your own. There is a mini bar in the room where you can purchase.

Excellent view of the harbour and botanic gardens especially during Vivid. Surprise fruit platter and dessert when we got back to our room. Enjoyed our stay immensely. Although we got charged twice we contacted management via email they responded and resolved the matter promptly.

This hotel has rooms with amazing views of the harbour bridge. High quality cafe, comfortable and generously proportioned rooms. Excellent service provided by all hotel staff during our stay. Amazing location and stay — you're in the heart of Circular Quay and near The Rocks. It's a 5 star hotel that deserves a 5 star rating.

Stayed one night for fun, had a blast.

It pains me to write this as I am an IHG Platinum member. But the service at this hotel is so appalling! I sat in the lobby bar and was ignored for 15 minutes so I left. I doubt anyone noticed. I decided to try my luck at the Meat and Co restaurant and then I was really offended. First of all it is only 6pm. We arrive and ask for a table, the asian lady in the reception area clicks on her computer, answers the phone, ignores us, takes someone else's reservation, hangs up the call and then clicks around on her computer for a few minutes and proceeds to sit us in a rather empty restaurant. We try to get the attention of a waiter but they ignored us. We even made a game of it. How many waiters could ignore us. We counted 9 times where a waiter ignored us. When we left the bar tender smiled which was encouraging. I tried to voice my concern to now a scruffy waiter who was at the entrance reception but he really didnt care. I wasn't even given the opportunity to voice my disdain. So maybe now the whole world will hear me. Would you like me to tell you more? Actually I am so offended by this hotel I am quite tempted to start a whole new blog about how bad the service is. Which is a real shame because the property has so much potential. Sorry for being so blunt but you actually ruined my Sydney Experience. I am still checked into your hotel, lets see if tomorrow is any better.

Very nice hotel great location well appointed rooms.

We stayed here, while our apartment was being decorated and it was a fantastic selection. The hotel is nice, modern, with professional and welcoming staff, a couple of nice bars and restaurants, but it just missed that luxurious element that you expect from a 5-star hotel. Our room was very nice, but it was the bathroom that let it down. The finishes were not 5-star, as there were cracked tiles in the wall.

One of my best stays in a Sydney hotel. The hotel is absolutely beautiful; especially when walking through the gorgeous lobby late at night. We booked late so we didn't have the best view but even the worst view in this hotel is still incredible. Service was great; I especially love the turndown service at night.

I stayed at the InterContinental as a Priority Privilege Member and what a treat that was. Our room was gorgeous, spacious and luxurious with sweeping views of the Sydney botanical gardens. I can only image how good the views must be on the opposite side of the building. In fact I do! Because having sundowner drinks and breakfast on the top floor is a must for privilege members. The drinks are good and the food selection is superb. But if you come here for anything, it's the view. It is magnificent, like sitting on top of the opera house fins themselves.
