Pay $120 a night for a room thats run down with bed bugs. Spoke to the general manager susan who was incredibly rude, tried to imply I was lying even though shes seen a video and then tried to manipulate me into thinking bed bugs are normal in hotels. I stayed in one last night for half the price and it was spotless. She didnt once apologise for my experience either. Wont be returning here.

Location, location, location. The rooms are good too, and the service is great. Very flexible and welcoming.

Great value for money. Central to everything, great views available, very clean and modern. Everything you require for a weekend or week in the city and just a 5min walk to the beautiful El Alimein fountain. So many good food options within that stroll and only 15mins down to the best gourmet offerings on wooloomooloo wharf. Will keep going back.

We had a lovely night. From the minute we walked in we where greeted by friendly reception staff that couldnt do enough for us. The room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. The view was fantastic. Complimentary news paper in the morning. We where given late checkout when we requested it. Couldnt recommend this hotel enough.

This was my second visit to this hotel and I was not disappointed. The rooms are of a good size and have their own little kitchenettes. We had a room with a lovely view. Some people were alarmed that we were staying in Potts Point because it is apparently a "bad" part of town, but we had absolutely no problems. There is a grocery store right across the road from the hotel, so it is easy to eat cheaply instead of having to go out to restaurants all the time. It is also within easy walking distance of the Railway Station, from where you can travel virtually anywhere in Sydney.

Front desk service was VERY good. Location is VERY good. Close to everything, and across the street from a brand new super market. The room was… well… a dump. Dirty, and well used. It had the feel of a hostel. The price was great, but not that great. We had housekeeping service each day, but they only changed our sheets once in a week. And when they did, they gave us a pillow with a huge blood smear (about the size of a finger. ) (heck yes we took a pic. ) And when we left it on the bed in an obvious place, they just changed the one pillow case… wow. We had new towels put in our room every day, but twice they had big orange stains (size of a quarter. ) The kitchen equipment was old, and very dirty. Room 811, hint hint. View was amazing. Sad really, with updated rooms, they could be a big player. But for now, I would steer clear, unless you are desperate. Oh, and one metal key per guest (if you lose it they charge you something like $250) and we had 2 guests. Room was tiny, but we didn't need anything larger, nor cared. The TV remote was covered in food. The room smelt. Basically it was that the room was old and dirty, and the room cleaning was very bad. A health inspector would have trouble letting this one pass. Sad, because the front desk was soooo good.

Great location. Good room facilities and plenty of space in the kitchenette. Great shower and plenty of hot water.

We loved our stay here. The front desks staff was the best part of our stay. Everyone that works here is kind. Even the handy man fixed our stroller for us! Everyone was helpful, friendly, polite and went and above and beyond to help our family. We loved the little kitchenette in our room. The laundry facility was great too! The location is lovely. A short walk to the opera house through the botanical gardens. We will stay here again the next time we visit Sydney.

Very compact, but has everything. Great view of the harbour. Water pressure for the shower could be better. Small electric stove, along with pots and cooking utensils. Our unit have small and flat roaches.

Although the room itself was very nice, there were a few things on which I thought could be better. Firstly, the location of Macleay hotel makes it very inaccessible with public transport making you rely on taxis to get around which wasn't very cost effective. Secondly, the view from the room was to the very close building across the road making privacy only possible if you covered up the windows, perhaps I should've asked for a room with a better view but didn't want to ask for much since the friendly check-in clerk had upgraded our room for free since it wasn't a busy day. The experience was delightful overall, If I had to criticise it a bit more; the entrance is a bit easy to miss.

Very nice hotel in Sydney! Especially location is nearby city center. Hotel gave us a upgrade for our room like the view when we look out from our room.

We paid for two double beds only to discover one of them was a folding bed that would turn into a banana when you lay on it. After much arguement and debate, the night receptionist swapped it with another folding bed that was not much better. The second problem, there was hardly any room to put it. If we had to go to the toilet, or get a glass of water, then we had to go over the bed. It wasn't cheap, $800.00 for Mon, Tue, and Wed nights (parking included). The night receptionist initally was very rude. Luckily, there was another empty room that they gave us that was better. 5am there was so much noise, I couldn't believe it. They need to be more transparent to their customers and tell them the truth. In the morning, when I spoke to the main receptionist, he just brushed me off and didn't even give me a chance to say anything.

Enjoyed a harbour view room. Great support from reception. Handy Woolworths store across the road and plenty of places to eat. Taxi to Circular Quay around 12 Australian Dollars. Get an Opal Card to use the Public Transport. Used the pool a lot too. Great hotel.

We stayed there over NYE. Unfortunately we got an old room. We found out that there are also already modernized rooms as well. Although our room as a little bit outdated, bed was good and bathroom was clean! A nice special was that we were allowed to go up the rooftop to watch the fireworks. Outstanding view! Everybody who wants to go to Sydney for NYE I would recommend The MacLeays — so you don't have to go to the crowded viewpoints!

Stayed here for the last night of our holiday, lovely clean room and staff welcoming. Paid extra for the harbour view and well worth it. Hope to return again at some point.

We had a most enjoyable stay and welcome at the Macleay Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We were over from England and if ever we return we will definitely stay at the Macleay Hotel.

It's at a great location and rooms are nice and clean. Zinc was amazing for breakie and The Fish Shop made for an excellent dinner. The trains are nearby so that was awesome. The bathroom needs a bit of a facelift, but it was exactly what we needed.

Nice location in Potts Point and very close to Kings Cross. Free Wi-Fi though not secure so staff advised us to use the desktop computer in the lobby. Our room was small but had a kitchenette with a small fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, 2 plate settings, glasses and a hot plate with pan/pots. No coffee maker but instant coffee and a French press. It worked but unusual. Price was reasonable for Sydney but hotel is dated. At the same it's clean and bathroom is recently updated. Outdoor pool with 5 lounge chairs. Didn't have time to spend time there. Stay here for the location (grocery store across street and close to train station and lots of restaurants. Staff are great.

Good location with plenty of food outlets nearby. Woolies is literally across the road and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and beds are relatively comfy. There's occasional bumping and thumping from other surrounding rooms but it's bearable. Just a shame about the weather we're having at the moment, otherwise I'd speak more about the pool and outdoor area! Great little hotel and definitely a good deal.

Avoid. About as nice as a youth hostel. Crummy old rooms, Wi-Fi doesn’t work, elevator key fobs don’t work, TV doesn’t work, old ugly furniture, bathroom looks like your granny’s. Just old and bad. We are staying one night and moving to another hotel tomorrow. Don’t stay here unless it’s an absurdly good deal.

It's a nice place to stay. 10 mins walk from king's cross station which is very well connected. To go to circular quay you need to change line though. Supermarket just in front. Really convenient.

A bit disappointed in this place. Upon check in we were given a key to an already occupied room. Once we were given a new room (harbor view is what we selected) we expected to have a view of the Sydney opera house and bridge but unfortunately when choosing harbor view you cannot select which harbor you face. So we ended up facing the opposite direction of the bridge and opera house. And finally, only being able to connect one device to the *free* capped Wi-Fi is stingy and lame. Having a good Wi-Fi connection is very important for international travelers.

Nice location, great and small room, good service. The view over the window is not good on the second floor.

Room space is small. Four people in three people room (extra bed) really do not have extra space.

Quiet and clean place for those who want to live Sydney in its pulsating heart.

Room is a bit small but its fine, location is good and service is good. I would given this place 4 stars except I stayed here in winter, the AC temperature is unadjustable (it was cold) and on top of that the heater in my room was broken. Upon informing the front desk of this, I was responded with a smile saying they they didn't have a replacement heater. So… I guess I'll just sleep in the cold? That warranted a 2 star reduction down to one star for not fulfilling basic amenities.

It is very clean and family friendly. It is a bit smaller than in the pictures, but very very clean… Bathroom and bed sheets are all very clean and house keeping is very good… Recommend it for a place to sleep and carry out basic things.

Nice enough for an overnight stay. It's perfectly located in Potts Poin for access to some great deli's & cafes. Unfortunately for us we had a room next to some very noisy young people that woke us up at 330 in the morning. The walls are quite thin.

Our stay was only s short one as just wanted to stay overnight for VIVID, although the room was small it was compfy, clean and tidy, the staff were awesome, thought it was a bit pricey for parking but other than than that, overall was very happy, would recommend to anyone needing some where in the city to stay,

Nice, boutique hotel, in Elizabeth Bay District of Sydney. Convenient to great restaurants and transport. Nice walking neighborhood. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We were stay at Macleay hotel for 8d7n from 09/05/2017, a very nice view Hotel, we we're lucky bcoz check in by Paolo! He is very nice and helpful person, he explained and guided us the journey to all those attractive venues. He advised and providing the efficient way to blue mountains… and etc etc… I like the accommodations of Macleay Hotel! Therefore I proposed to my sisters who will be checked in on 22/05, and 26/05 respectively…

Had a great stay at the Macleay Hotel. Beautiful location and we requested a room with a harbour bridge view and got it, which was awesome! The only downside was it was a bit small and also pricey, but that's expected given the location.

Nice and friendly staff. Hotel is nicely located near plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. Rooms are clean and comfortable for a short or long stay. Only wish there was more room for storing clothes.

From the time we arrived, we were promptly greeted with a Welcome. After explaining the reason for our stay, (fleetwood concert) he gave us tips for Public Transport, Cafes, Traffic, local Sights and points if interest. The Room had an amazing harbour view and was reasonably updated. Very clean indeed and included a small kitchenette. Large shower head, comfy supportive mattress — not lumpy or bumpy. Room Smelt fresh, carpets clean and abundant Toiletries, Towels and Facewashers etc. I stress again… clean, clean, clean. Hairdryer amazed me… in all the couple if hundred Motels I have stayed in, I have only ever fiund 2 that have Diffusers! A seoerate Hairdryer and Diffuser set, not a wall hairdryer! Thankyou Macleay… the 4 of us will be back. Great Rates, Clean refurbished Rooms, Friendly helpful Staff, Newspapers, Views… we loved it.

Fantastic serviced apartments in a central location, with lots of great cafes, restaurants and bars near by. Kings cross train station is just a 5min walk and there's a Woolworths right opposite if you need to do any shopping. The rooms are modern and clean with all the mod cons. As a guest you get the added bonus of free gym passes and computers with internet access in the lobby. Brilliant views of the harbour.

We were from 9 10 2013 to 12 10 2013 at the hotel and had 2 apartments 810 / 811 with views of the Opera House. Fantastic. Very centrally located and the staff is super friendly. A fully successful conclusion for our Australia trip.

Located near some of the best cafe's Sydney has to offer, close to public transport, bus almost outside the front door and 10 minute walk to the train. Amazing views, recommend you ask the staff for the key to the roof top for sunset you will not get any better view of one of the most magnificent harbours in the world. The staff are very friendly, helpful and have gone out of their way to help me on some of my business needs when I am in Sydney. I stay regularly, at least very 3 months. I doubt you will find a hotel of this value and service anywhere else in Sydney and possibly the world. Most of the hotel has undergone major refurbishment, beds are comfortable with fresh linen, rooms are very clean and I have gotten to know most of the cleaning staff who are always smiling and happy to help out with an extra clean towel etc. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed by the experience.

I stayed in this hotel in Sydney for 2 days. It was average in cleanliness and decoration. The bad thing was, one morning I left some stuff, including my brand new, rather expensive mobile phone on the bed. In the evening when I returned, all the stuff I had left on the bed had been neatly piled up, but the phone was gone. I reported this to reception, who straightaway said the cleaner would not have done this, and asked if I was sure I had closed the door to my room. I reported the theft to the police, and made quite a bit of noise about it with reception. Miraculously, the phone was found in the laundry basket the next morning. Dodgy I would say. My advise: stay there by all means, because the location is great and it is not too expensive, but do not leave any valuables in the room.
