TBone was good. Seafood linguine has 2 prawn, 2 mussels and 2 scallops. Too much cut up sausage chorizo made it NOT a seafood dish but it did have good flavour.

All meals were good. Everyone at our table enjoyed what they had ordered, however the female servers had no personality at all. A smile costs nothing. And wearing shorts was inappropriate attire. Even when we were leaving we felt like unwelcome guests.
On a brighter note bar staff were very accommodating.

Made a very polite complaint to the kitchen and got a disgustingly rude retort from the head chef. Apparently I’m too stupid to know baby prawns aren’t king prawns. Safe to say we will not be returning.

Great beer. Great burger. Great steak. Great people! See you again soon!

Our works Xmas party at the sunnyside last night. Amazing night! Thanks to the whole team. The function space is perfect, we were out the back with full access to outside area and inside area. Lots of room to move around and very pretty and festive at night with the lights. Bar staff were great out the back for us. Food was amazing! Lots of it and all served throughout the night. Everyone raved about the food. Great place for an informal fun function. Thanks to all for making it a seamless and organised event.

Cheap snitty that is the size of your head! This pub has a snitty on the menu to outdo the rest. Massive succulent chicken with a perfectly roasted crumb and crunch that will have you salivating for more!

We held our engagement party at the Sunnyside and it was incredible! The restaurant and beer garden are just beautiful and it made for the perfect venue. All our guests commented on how delicious the food was. The jalapeno poppers especially were such a hit! The staff were so friendly and helpful leading up to the event and on the night. Highly recommend the Sunnyside for functions, 10/10. A massive thank you to all the staff, especially Nathan for all his help :)

At a recent Charity Event the staff were so helpful, even replacing a gas bottle in a heater pretty quickly, even though they were flat out. The food was beautiful and the venue itself is fantastic for a crowd, has a great feel about it.

What an amazing venue!
We used the back indoor and outdoor area for 80 people and it was flawless. The food was great, staff were amazing and catered to all our needs. It was incredibly relaxed and at the end of it all they helped cleaned up.
We had the best time.
Highly recommend for functions of all kinds especially if you want to decorate how ever you want. We turned ours into a sporting Mecca!

Had a group booking, found food to be very bland, meals did not arrive at the same time so one meal was finished before the partner's meal arrived, one of our party waited 1 1/4 hours for a steak. Very disappointing night.

Good food, pricey for pub grub but that's more common than not in Newcastle these days. Friendly service, quiet and a nice range of beers. Great spot for a quiet beer and a meal.

Good selection of beers, food servings aren't the largest, especially nachos. Nice area for eating and in close proximity to Hunter stadium. Good outdoor area too.

I've been coming here on and off for 8 years, the food is always delicious. At the moment they have a great deal going on a Tuesday night, $9 for a chicken Schnitty with chips and salad, unbeatable value for what you get. They have deals on other days as well, check out their website for details.

I stumbled across the Sunnyside Tavern on my most recent trip to Newcastle with some friends. What a find it turned out to be! Settled down with a few beers in the beer garden outside soaking in the sun before ordering off the menu as the hunger kicked in. Ordered the Parmigiana, whilst my friends ordered the panko salmon and a couple of the pizzas. Food was quick and bloody delicious. Really friendly staff so I can't say a bad word about the joint. A real gem, I might even have to travel up the next time the might sea eagles play the knights and stop by again!

Room is fine. However, Fridge, Iron, Iron board,, Tea maker are missing from room facility as claimed next to a room on reservation page. Also, no room cleaning each day. No intercom and Clothing hanging road inside room.

A friendly but rather basic pub which is stuck in the last century. Tab… check, TV screens and horse racing… check, old school beers… check. It serves a purpose but pubs have moved on and this is more on the tiredside for my liking.

Cleanliness was to a point. … Amazing costomer service. Would've liked a small kitchenette but for a tavern it outdid itself.

Rooms clean and comfortable … staff friendly and the food is excellent… a very nice little pub.

It's a great place to stay on a budget. The internet doesn't work though and there's no elevator so you'll have to carry your luggage to the room. All rooms are on the first floor.

Had a long lunch here with friends. The service was great, the food was delicious and came out quickly. The air conditioning in the dining area was divine as it was over 40 degrees C outside.

We had a really nice meal at The Sunnyside Tavern bistro. Service was good, staff really friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful little waitress so friendly and welcoming. Close to Entertainment but I am sorry to say worst thai beef salad I have ever had. So little meat and no dressing! Other meals were fine so give the thai beef a miss.

Stayed for a week whilst working near by. For an old pub it has been renovated well. Room was good, I booked one with ensuite. Food in bistro was great. Friendly staff.

Tip… Before you tell a customer that you cannot heat up fresh baby food for 30sec "because of ohs law" you should:
1. Educate yourself on current WHS law (OHS was replaced 6yrs ago) ;
2. Educate yourself on current Food Safety Standards & Regulations;
3. After completing points 1 & 2 and understanding that if the food does not meet the definition of "hazardous" (which my food did not — it was fresh pasta and vegetables basically puréed), then correct your statement and st…op hiding behind "ohs" excuses. The correct statement would be, "We do not heat up baby food because it's against our company policy"… It has nothing to do with WHS or food safety laws; and lastly,
4. If this is your company policy and you want to keep claiming your venue is "family friendly" then start offering menu items for children.

I was hesitant about booking and staying at a pub. Wow, how wrong was I. Staff were fantastic and helpful im all areas of the Tavern. Meals were beautiful and the accommodation has been renovated. It was spotlessly clean and the bed was heaven. Thankyou everyone at sunnyside tavern. We will be back.

Sunnyside Tavern for 'date night' with my 11 year old son … Entree… bruschetta for him (delicious) and corn bread with chilli and coriander butter for me (a little dry but plenty of butter that helped)
Mains were… pulled pork tacos with guacamole, salsa and coleslaw sides (young food critic said ' best tacos I've every eaten! ) I had 280g rump cooked rare and it was so tender it's was ridiculous! Add 2 sides for tonight's special of $16 and it's a winner. Lots of toppers to choose ranging from $2-$7.50 for creamy seafood
And to complete the meal… Master York had the crumble with the Persian Fairy Floss which he loved. The atmosphere is so family friendly with games, decks of cards and colouring available to keep everyone entertained. Great espresso martini made by Mr Bartender too. Relaxed, efficient and friendly staff and perfect setup for large groups or cosy dinner for 2 by candlelight. Entertainment Book vouchers accepted, members discounts and Uber Eats is available … so a fab place for your next night out! Oh and FYI… I won UNO 4-3

Location was good, bit on a super busy street so parking was fairly easy. Service was excellent, everyone was very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Good amenities.

Great pub with great staff. Accom is really good standard for pub accom. Food is great also. All round excellent pub.

Great place and vibe. Everyone one there was really lovely. Drinks a little expensive but it was a good night.

A beer with some mates after go karts. Not two, as I was responsible and value my licence. Didn't have time to eat as my wife was at home looking after our daughter, so I consumed a small cup of complimentary salted peanuts. The bar staff looked to be quite attractive but I only caught a quick glimpse out of the corner of my eye, as I am a happily married man. It was such a cool night.

A brilliant night at Sunnyside. Food was perfect and quickly served. Will be back again for sure.

Arrived without reservation on a busy night, staff promptly cleared a table as it became available, food was good, child's meal was free on the Friday, plenty of available high chairs and space to use them. Would recommend.

Love love love everything about staying at sunnyside from the gorgeous scrupulously clean rooms, to the delicious food, to the amazingly warm staff! I wouldn't stay anywhere else wen im in the area. Fast becoming my home away from home ☺

Went there for a function the food could of been alot better as for the staff most were polite but if the other staff smiled there faces would crack.

3 different prices for the same burger depending on which special's board you looked at. Staff were unhelpful when the burger I received was cold and the chips soggy.

Friendly staff. Convenient location. Very clean rooms. Great prices. BUT it is in the middle of industrialville so it is noisy till late (the pub itself) and early in the morning (road).

Go here for the $15 Angus rump steaks on Thursdays. Almost every time the steak has been great. Friendly and helpful staff.

Great Pub Love the staff love the food and the atmosphere Top Pub and it just down the road even better they have a curtisy bus to get us home again.

My local although I dont frequent that often. Have occasional meals there which are quite good. Renovations in recent years have improved ambience of the hotel. Good venue for functions of which I have attended including the Newcastle Neptunes and Eleebana Lions Club.

Food is great value and is consistantly good. Staff are all friendly, I strongly recommend.

This is an awesome pub, with awesome service. We be definately going back there, they have a courtesy bus with a great driver, everyone is friendly, the food looked awesome too.
