Finding free onstreet parking was relatively easy though the hotel has parking for $15 a day. Twin Double room was OK although the bed was made sloppy with the sheets not fitting the mattress with the bedding just thrown on top, but the bed was super comfy. Disappointed at the lack of ventilation in the bathroom causing the ceiling to drip and driving the room humidity through the roof. Windows that only open 10cm didn't help this situation. Was there for a wedding function and some of the waitress staff were horrible — Removing wedding cake from my kids' plates before they even had a chance to eat it, stating 'it was being collected and given wedding party'. Which it was not, probably binned or eaten by the staff. Sigh. Great location and good overall experience despite the few negatives.

Great spot in summer because is right in the beach. Rooms are big but hotel is becoming dated. Noise between rooms can be an issue at times. Staff always helpful and food is pretty good. Restaurant is quite good on seafood night.

Menu options and buffet were delicious and fresh (little bit pricey). Nice to see upgrades in decor through the hotel and Windjammers Restaurant. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Disabled parking was great. Then there is my "however" statement that let the whole experience down… The chairs in the restaurant were originally white. White chairs need to be frequently scrubbed and even bleached. Where we were seated, you could see the sides & undersides of the chairs on the raised level of the restaurant. I can't describe the levels of dirt there! All the white chairs we were on or that were around us were stained with dirty marks to some degree. This made my marking drop otherwise 4 stars.

My good mate Bradley Hawkins had his wedding & reception here last night. I have been to many held in allegedly better hotels & found the event, service, hosting, rooms food just everything was outstanding! One word PERFECTION If I could give 10 stars I would. What a stunning hotel. For an older hotel, it has surely stood the test of time even among newer hotels. Michael at reception is so lovely and friendly. Great parking underneath the hotel and good facilities like a bar, pool and gym (not planning on trying the last two-winter/lazy). There's a cafe just outside the hotel that does epic b & e rolls at a fraction of the price so head there if your trying to be cost effective. I'm treating myself to the hotel breakfast tomorrow as its very highly spoken of. I got room 921 and the view took my breath away! A corner, north facing room that has two side of glass windows facing the ocean. It's incredible! The only downsides are: the noisy wedding reception downstairs that went well past midnight and the beds are incredibly soft so I've woken up with a sore back but that can't be helped. All in all, if you're looking for a south Sydney getaway, stay here! It's so lovely.

Really friendly and helpful staff, the BEST views from the ocean view rooms and not stingy on extras (slippers, wine, shower caps etc) like other hotels. Hubby and I always go here for anniversaries. All front desk staff super friendly and funny, especially Darren our fave. Really good standard maintained throughout! Best place to stay in Wollongong by far.

Outdated decor. Easy location to get to and parking is not too bad. A local favourite for the older age range to relax, chat and enjoy. Nice and quiet cafe.

The staff, room and general facilities were amazing. The staff was definitely the highlight though. Only downsides was a slight problem with the parking lot arm and one time using the elevator it stopped but the doors didn't open until we pressed the floor number again.

Absolutely amazing. Staff here go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. No request is too big (or crazy! ). Service with a smile.

We have stayed at Novotel Wollongong Northbeach a few times now (including on our wedding night) and have always been blown away by the beautiful rooms and friendly, professional staff. Recently we revisited for our 1st anniversary and were treated to a room with a spectacular view, special sweets and wine on arrival and just overall felt very special :) Thank you very much — this will always be a special place for us and we can't wait for our next stay.

Stayed here on a day when it was very hot and recieved an upgrade to an ocean view room. The view was fantastic. Ordered room service and the meals were delicious. Highly recommended.

Excellent place to stay. We had beautiful view of the lighthouse and the beach from our window. Located across the beach and close to good cafes. Great with kids and also had live music. Food is exceptional. Parking is poorly designed.

A nice hotel right on the North Wollongong beachfront. The rooms are clean and functional however the windows could use slightly longer curtains to block out the light. A few cafes around on the beachfront for a morning coffee after breakfast in the hotel. Would stay here again.

Great lunch options. We had Vietnamese Chicken salad and Burrito bowl. Both delicious and healthy. Plenty of seating options inside and outdoor. Nice beer glasses too.

Great views, with the beach and cafes and restaurants just a minutes walk from the hotel. It’s a lovely area, and really great to go for the day or for the weekend. Lots to do at Wollongong, and that helps with entertaining kids.

Best hotel in Wollongong! Situated opposite a patrolled surf beach. Exceptional views from most rooms and their restaurant Windjammers! Their lobby bar is a great place to chill or catch up with friends. Absolutely love this place.

Excellent room with great amenities! Loved that we were right across from the beach which meant we didn't need to find parking during busy summer period. Excellent location! Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing especially with the coffee cart and pancake machine. Can't wait to go back!

The room was great and looks to be recently refurbished, definitely worth the money. Free in-house movie didn't work as there was no instruction on how to access it, fiddled with the TV remote for a good 15 minutes, but gave up and can't be bothered to seek assistance. Paid $64 for the buffet breakfast (2 Adults and 2 kids), and the venue was more like a canteen, than a proper breakfast joint in a 4 star hotel. The cheap chairs and tables seriously needs to be replaced, it was warm and humid with minimal air-conditioning. And the level of noise made the whole experience felt very cheap. The food was average and it is not something to look forward to, if guest were there for multiple days. The building itself (apart from the rooms) felt dated and tired for a 4 star Novotel. I have interacted with 3 front-line members at the reception and I will give them 10/10 for their service, friendliness and politeness.

Location is spectacular, situated right near north Wollongong beach. The wait staff was very attentive. As a venue for work functions or weddings, the ballroom is spacious and acoustics were very good, especially for such a large room.

Excellent location, close to city centre and to the beach. Very good and lively atmosphere. Very big and comfortable rooms. The staff is so fantastically helpful! They are always ready to give customers recommendations on attractions or services. The lobby is also very big and the location is by far the most convenient!

Room was great. Location is even better. The guy playing bongo drums directly across the road on the beach was a downer. I am aware that you have no control over this, but you do have the ability to contact the local police as a 'noise complaint' in order to have him moved on. Your staff should have done this well before it became an issue at 12.30am. Having called the front desk we were informed a number of guests had been complaining but it was left until it was a drama before anything was done. The complaint could/should have been made well before it became an problem. A bit more situational awareness would be a good thing.

Hotel has got enough amenities to keep kids preoccupied. I especially liked the idea of the play area right where hubby and I can relax a bit and have a drink. Access to the beach and other local features made a full holiday. Easy check-in/out. Nice staff only the cleaning lady missed to replenish our toiletries.

Lovely hotel in a great location — experience tarnished by our visit to the restaurant. Our experience was spoiled by our visit to the restaurant. We booked in advance and were told there were very few covers expected — but when we arrived it was full and we were told to expect a delay. The wine we ordered wasn't available and a cheaper one was offered — it was fine. When the food was eventually delivered it was cold — delicious, but cold. As we were obviously at the end of the service and were hungry we ate the very tasty meal — my, how beautiful it would have been if served hot. The service staff were wonderful and apologetic offering us a cocktail in apology. Everyone was wonderful about it, but the food should never have been served cold.

We stayed in a Panorama Suite for our Honeymoon, and the whole stay was fantastic. From the moment we checked in, the staff were amazing & happy to help with any request, and we were treated to a platter of chocolate-covered strawberries & desserts, plus a bottle of champagne, free breakfast each day, and late checkout! We ordered room service, and also dined in the hotel restaurant, and the food was fresh & delicious! We also visited Pepe's Bar for afternoon cocktails, which we really enjoyed. Overall, we had a fantastic stay, and we would recommend Novotel Northbeach to everyone.

As regular guests it never disappoints. Our room was spacious & clean. Bed & linen super comfortable. View is spectacular. The staff are always so lovely & welcoming. One of our favourite places to go when we can sneak away for a night.

As it was our wedding anniversary it was the perfect time to have a night at Wollongong Novotel. We had the most beautiful room on the top floor. The view was spectacular and the room very comfortable and modern. The morning breakfast was also very good and having a late check out we were able to enjoy a walk along the promenade.

We enjoyed our experience this last weekend. We liked our room; very comfortable and nice view. We enjoy the rooms at Novotel Wollongong because they're set out very well for a husband and wife, with plenty of mirrors, for putting on makeup etc. Our meal at Windjammers was excellent! Such a tonic for us our stay this weekend, after having been very sick in the month before. The massage at Akorah Day spa was well worth the money! All-in-all, a great few days.

You provide beer in the minibar however there are no beer glasses. I personally don't enjoy drinking beer from a bottle. There are no hooks within reach of the shower for the towel. The evacuation notice on the back of the door has a green dot which indicates "you are here" there is no green dot on the map at our room. Apart from the above, the room renovations and the hotel in general were excellent. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Had a great stay here. Unfortunately, was only for 1 night. But will be back. This hotel is extremely well presented and rooms are very spacious. This hotel is situated on the beach front and has bars and dining experiences in house. I will be back.

Could not fault the service. Greeted at check-in with a welcome smile and smooth transition to our room. We had lunch on Friday — a la carte — thought the menu too limited. The presentation of the menu sub-standard. Printed paper on a clip board. Very easy to make it better. The room 917 was first class. Very spacious and excellent bathroom. Had room service on Friday night. Green leaf salad ordinary, otherwise very good. Breakfast was adequate. Plenty of options. Lobby bar well set out. Very comfortable space. Check out itself was handled well considering a computer payment issue that was rectified very professionally later that day.

We came back to this hotel to celebrate our engagement. We previously stayed a month ago and asked for an ocean view room. We did the same this time and we got a room with twice the ocean views. The room was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. Location is perfect. We walked along the foreshore and had coffee at the harbour cafe. Staff were efficient and friendly. The overall stay was amazing. Definitely will be back.

We stayed in a wonderful Ocean view room with a balcony. The stay was just what we needed a lovely relaxing break. Catherine at reception was excellent and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was special. All the staff are extremely friendly & helpful. The breakfast buffet was great.

The staff were immediately friendly from when my partner and I first walked in to the foyer. The check-in staff were very helpful in answering all our questions and providing us with local information for the area. When it came time for dinner unfortunately the Windjammers Buffet Restaurant was booked out for 2 hours. So my partner and I wandered over to the Lounge Bar where we met a Barman by the name of John. John hands down makes the best jugs there and I would highly recommend the Long Island Ice Tea. John was also able to give us local information for places to eat including Pepe's which is just a walk around the corner and plenty of information also of what the good eat places are in the center of town. So after a few jugs we wandered back over to Windjammers as we had a couple drinks under our belts by now and got a table. The menu there is amazing vast for a buffet to choose from and would highly recommend it to anyone even if your just going out for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our room felt very modern and spacious and the bed is something I'd want to steal to have back at home. The view was also very nice with a good overlook of the beach and street. The bathroom also had a very modern look and feel and would be the envy of most homeowners. To sum up if your looking for a little getaway that's close to home or visiting the South Coast I can highly recommend the Novotel at North Wollongong for your stay as the staff will take care of you 100%

Attended the 2016 Disability Trust Awards Night at the Novotel. Food, service and facilities were good. Staff were extremely helpful and supportive when one of the attendees required assistance.

The sea view is gorgeous and the scenery is invincible. The room was comfortable. Worth recommending.

We attended a information section for a talent academy there 2 days this week. The hotel was well presented and the staff very helpful.

It was great, and such a nice place to stay. We were upgraded as a surprise and had a gorgeous view of the water. The only issue I had were the pillows weren't overly substantial, they went flat very quickly, but I didn't check for a pillow menu, so that might be my fault. Still, I loved it. Thanks.

The Hotel is ok, but $11 per hour for internet is just plain greedy. Not cool. The most expensive I have seen anywhere and a clear example of price gouging greed.

Stayed at novatel wollongong for a work function, clean well equipped rooms and nice restaurant out front.

Really nice rooms, really amazing view over the beach and great food. Had a bit of a weird experience checking in, where the man on the front desk kept answering the phone every time it rung instead of checking me in — which was kind of frustrating (maybe you need more than 1 person on the desk! ), but after that it was amazing.

Noisy bar at 3pm discouraged me from entering. Music was too loud and not family friendly.

Lovely refurbished room on 8th floor. Check in very fast and efficient. New room wonderful with a great view of the beach and lovely comfortable bed. Room service menu a little pricey which makes me venture out for food, but this isn't a huge problem — lots of options nearby. Reception desk staff are super friendly and keen to help as is the General Manager. Novotel is my choice of hotel in The Gong and I can highly recommend it.

Exceptional service. Good room. Family friendly. Great breakfast. Only minor issue was a bit of noise on the beach view side coming from a function downstairs.

Good location nect to the beach with decent cocktails. Only draw back is lack of variety of eating out places nearby.

My brother died just before Christmas & at short notice we needed rooms for 16 of our family, including for our elderly parents, for the night before the funeral. We booked over the 'phone & were given mainly rooms on the same floor. When we settled my parents into their room we found that the shower was over a deep bath which they couldn't use. We went to reception who were so understanding & gave them an amazing suite looking over the beach. On settling my parents into it, a lovely man arrived with wine & a fruit platter! This huge hotel has the personal touch! Even the cleaning staff in the halls said hello. The kindness shown to us we will never forget & yes we would definitely stay there again & hopefully next time to enjoy what this great location has to offer.

Attended a function at the Novotel and was pleasantly surprised. Staff were well dressed, helpful and prompt. The food was exquisite, and the table settings were lovely. Will come again.

From the moment I checked in it felt like I was surrounded by friends and family, staff there are amazing. Nothing can beat that beach front location, if you love the ocean you'll love the Novotel. Batman approves!

Went to a wedding on Sunday night what a great night with really good service and friendly staff.

So disappointing. Pros — a comfortable bed, good water pressure Cons — (there are many) *Very noisy *Constant noise from the toilet plumbing and hearing lots of other guest flushing toilets etc *Heating did not work *Our door would rattle loudly whenever another guest on our floor would shut their door *TV reception was terrible *Minibar not stocked We stayed for a wedding and asked about the parking situation at check in. We were told by the girl at reception "I don't know, check your booking" I thought that was her job! We were told later that we had free parking AFTER we had paid for it. Super helpful It's definitely overpriced and feels tired and in need of an update, check elsewhere in Wollongong, I'm sure you can do better for less money.

Looking for a place to get married and was lucky enough to have a cousin get married today on the beach here. Beautiful view, fantastic reception and great food. All night we were looked after by Liam and Tom and I highly recommend. I live in Sydney so I will be looking at the novatel in Sydney, thanks.

Nice place to meet friends. We had a couple of beers and some fish and chips. The staff were nice and were not to pushy. We went on a Wednesday night and it was not busy at all. Great view will go back again but hopefully there will be more people and more vibe.

Lovely room, great shower water pressure and relaxing bath tub. The bed was not an inner spring mattress and somewhat uncomfortable after a few hours of sleeping.

I went there to try the seafood buffet last night with a couple of friends, the seafood was okay, NOT THAT FRESH FOOD EVEN IT IS CLOSE to the sea, fruits not fresh as well, and 50 bucks per person. Hopefully it can be better at weekends.

Friends laughed when we said we were honeymooning in Wollongong, but after staying at the Novotel on Northbeach we would not have had it any other way! Northbeach is the most beautiful relaxed beach in Wollongong. We spent 7 days at the well located Novotel Northbeach and every day was spent relaxing on the beach and eating at the 3 cafes and restaurants that line the foreshore. The Novotel staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help in every way they could. Our room was very comfortable with a view that overlooked the beach and the lighthouse. The free bus into town picks you up from the front of the hotel every 10 minutes. It takes 5 minutes to be in the center of Wollongong city.

Very spacious rooms with nice views of the beach. Literally a stone's throw away from the beach and a reasonable walk away from the CBD. There's a pool and spa available, in addition to a gym. Rates are reasonable as well.
