Had an amazing Sunday lunch today, and few cocktails in the sunshine, excellent service all the staff were so friendly and attentive, great value for money. Will defo be back x.

Fantastic hotel, with great views, attentive staff, on the whole a pleasurable experience, would highly recommend.

On the whole staff are fab food was delicious and service was different class.
P. S Mark in the bar makes the best Old Fashioned.

Staff were very attentive so the rating is no reflection on the service at all.
The restaurant is a contemporary/trendy setting.
The afternoon tea photographed on the website was not indicative of what we received.
The sandwiches were squashed and made with cheap bread, fillings were scrimped on too, although tasted okay. My friends veggie sandwiches were soggy
A sausage roll or mini quiche would have been a nice touch?
The scones were nice and arrived warm 👍 could have been a bit plumper. We had to ask for more “clotted” cream as we received a runny kind of cream 🤷🏻‍♀️
The cakes: I only had room for one which was moist and flavoursome, not sure if these were made in house? Had a makro feel to them — almost too uniformed (I may be wrong) But they all looked a bit samey. £20 maybe £25 per head would have been a fairer price for the quality received.
Perhaps a mousse instead of one of the stodgy cakes would be a nice way of mixing it up? Get some bakery made bread and be a bit more generous on the fillings and I think it would be a huge improvement. The photo on right is on website and what I was expecting the photo on left is what we received

Great bar, excellent food, attentive service — amazing view … go!

Fantastic service … fantastic people… beautiful rooms and delicious food & drinks, it’s like being at home! Everytime and always … for sure … again!

We have just celebrated our wedding with the Seven hotel and stayed the night. The service was above and beyond, I could not recommend them enough! Xx.

Disappointed stay over the past week. Service was poor breakfast didn’t arrive for over 40 minutes despite being asked to specify a time. Car parking was a nightmare as people just parked over the lines. Staff didn’t really care about lack of service.

Some good points but lots of bad. Mainly the food and service in the restaurant was terrible. The whole restaurant was complaining … it was like watching kitchen nightmares … Gordon Ramsey would destroy this place. The bar is good, nice drinks … owner was friendly but looked lost when everything was going wrong. I’ve mixed feelings about returning. Would go for a drink at the bar but would stay and eat somewhere else.

Enjoyed a wonderful steak, attentive service, and finished an evening off in the bar with a cocktail. Highly recommended.

We went for afternoon tea. Friendly staff, amazing location and beautiful furnishings. A bit disappointed to receive our 'doggie bag' of uneaten cakes to take home were roughly wrapped in cooking foil rather than a nice little box. Need to introduce that finishing touch? x.

Went for lunch today with my friend for a special birthday lunch. We were not disappointed, the steak was amazing and very attentive staff. We will be back!

Had a lovely time here, so much so we spent most — nearly all the time in the hotel, the food, the room, the bar, the cocktails and most importantly the owner and all the staff were truly lovely. Sad to have left — thank you xx.

Last minute room urgently needed for the night; had the best customer service you could get; exceeded any expectations.

Had a great afternoon tea, catered really well for gluten free option. Staff all welcoming, friendly an polite. Johnathon looked after our needs and was informative. The atmosphere was great nice outlook. Will be going back again.

Afternoon tea was fab staff very attentative and lovely venue sea view… sarnies so plentiful and cakes lush. Definitely will return.

“They have tried hard to make a beautiful boutique hotel, the just lack some attention to detail” + : Location was brilliant! Staff were polite and friendly. Room was decorated to a high standard and attention had been paid when they designed the room. Bed was very comfy (small but comfy) and little touches like USB's beside the bed were very nice — : Although the bathroom is stunning, on inspection it is not maintained very well. The shower head was completely clogged with limescale meaning that the very open plan shower covered the entire bathroom in water as all the jets went everywhere. Was really disappointed at over £160 for one night in a small room with a horrible view, (didn't mind that bit as I booked last minute) that breakfast was at least not included and cost an additional £25 but at this price for a moderate room breakfast should have been included. Which was made slightly worse by breakfast being a bit of mess with running out of food, slow service and bad coffee.

Not recommended at all… staff were lovely… then went into room. 305 on Saturday night. We had sea view which was lovely. Looking on window ledge all paint was cracked and chipped… there was big crack above TV on ceiling… for £289… not very good… shower when on was on opening of the bathroom door… so floor flooded… we ordered breakfast for 9.30am and arrived 15 minutes late. Toast was burnt and butter was served on small slab which was nearly melted and running off the slab tile… no covers for breakfast so by time we got it it was cold… checked out and my partner nearly tripped over rope which was hanging out of the road into there side car park… got half way home we both had stomach pains and partner was sick… TERRIBLE… Wouldnt reccommend at all… very disappointing for a 5 star boutique.

The room and hotel is beautiful. Very comfy bed. Kind of need a morgage for drinks. Couple of down points, the bathroom was was a bad layout where the walk in shower was before the toilet so completely soaked the whole floor. For the price I paid I was very disappointed with breakfast. We had to wait over half hour for a cooked breakfast, burnt toast and didn't taste that great. Room service was disappointing. There menu says open 24 hours and could order pizza, sandwich what ever you wanted. Well I was opening told no you can have a cheese toasty and that's it! Would stay again but not for £239.

Staff polite and helpful, stayed in a king room with a sea view. The view was great and the room was clean and modern. The hotel is so close to the sea front and shopping centre, fantastic location. There is parking to the rear which is free but on a first come first serve basis. Room service fantastic and not too costly only gripe is that the grilled cheese sandwich we ordered was no longer available even though it was on the menu. (It was an old menu that was still in the room) would definitely return & recommend to anyone.

Amazing view from the room. Food is lovely, we asked a special request from the waiter to eat our bar food in the restaurant and whilst they don't usually allow this they did for us as it was special circumstances. Very friendly and helpful staff.

What an absolute amazing night I had, all the staff welcomed me and my husband and made sure everything was perfect for us, even the smallest detail in the room was on point, I can say that I have stayed in many hotels before but this has definitely been the best experience I had, staff made everything better by making me and my husband feel so special, woke up and had a amazing English breakfast with the best hash browns, wish I could post all the pictures and videos I took, will definitely be back, and will recommend this hotel or everyone! Ps: the bathroom towels make your skin feel amazing

Set lunch — £24pp does not represent value for money. The smallest starters I have ever seen. I chose the river trout and asked if it was smoked. Waiter said not but it was. I actually don't mind smoked fish and it was tasty but 3 tiny pieces. Of the 3 main courses they didn't have one available so if you were a pescatarian you were out of luck. I chose the bavette of steak which came with onions and a dressing. I ordered a side of fries but was assured that the bavette came with a side of fries. It didn't and the overall dish was strong, the steak not the best and again small portions. At this point I was starving having eaten 3 tiny cubes of smoked fish, half a radish, 2 small pieces of steak and half an onion. I was at a work meeting and so didn't want to complain. We ordered cheese each — I think because we were both starving. I specifically asked for no blue cheese although my dining companion did want blue cheese and lo and behold both plates had blue cheese on them. The cheese plate was the only value for money item on the menu and with diet cokes priced at £3.50, lunch cost £65 for 2. For me it was a spectacular fail. I won't be returning — the menu is too limited and portions are too small. Shame as I love finding new restaurants but this is not for me.

On a hot sunny bank holiday Monday we popped in for drinks to cool off. Managed to get a seat on the terrace which is very nice. However, after a few mins we asked the young waitress could we order some drinks please. She said she'd be back in a few minutes. Other tables arrived, they were served, we were not. She busied herself around other tables. We felt we were purposely being ignored. After 20 mins we left and asked the bar manager on the way out 'was our money not good enough, we were not served '… 'oh ladies I am sorry' he said… no he wasn't! I definitely will not be rushing back. Shame as its nice bar and my local.

Finally, a great place in southend for small conferences and business meetings. Had our team meeting here and it was great! Highly attentive and friendly staff, and lovely homemade pastries.

Great anniversary lunch with great hospitality and staff. Worked in similar establishments and the quality all round was just as good in some cases better.

A beautiful afternoon tea. Staff were very attentive and friendly. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were beautifully and imaginatively served. There was endless tea and we added a glass of pink bubbles!

Fantastic hotel, shame we could not get a sea view but was not a major issue. Staff went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after especially Omer who helped us out on numerous occasions whenever we asked, really made us feel welcome. Could not recommend this hotel highly enough.

We visited the Aurum restaurant on Friday evening. I was surprised to see it empty at 7pm. Overall food was fresh and delicious, service was very good, but bare in mind we were one of two tables of two with 6 waiters around us. The only negative coment I have is about the portion size. The starter and dessert were little too small for the price we paid, according to me. Wine list was good, but spirits and cocktails were a bit pricey as well.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was great and the room was lovely with a romantic view over the thames estuary, and Southend pier. The hotel is a short walk from all the tourist sites. Staff were very courteous and professional, in particular the very friendly front receptionist Eliza. I really can’t fault the Seven Hotel.

Very impressed on arrival. Decor on point. Bit of a wait at the bar but the cocktails were extremely good although maybe slightly over priced. Afternoon tea was plentiful and delicious. I had the cheese board as not a sweet person, oh my word, possibly the best one I've had! the portion sizes of each cheese was spot on, beautiful cheeses and my favourite bit was the little wedge of honey combe straight from the hive! Absolutely yummy! I can't wait to return!

The one star is purely because the food tasted lovely. I visited last week for my mum’s birthday and there was 10 of us. We got left standing in reception with no greeting and didn’t get accompanied to the restaurant area. We was then seated for at least 20 minutes without being offered menus or drinks, in the end I had to ask for service. There was one waitress on who in my opinion wasn’t experienced enough and didn’t really have any people skills. Considering the price of food and drinks the service was appalling. I asked 3 times discretely for the birthday cake to come out to no avail to which the waitress eventually bought out tiny piece of cake off there menu. In the end I had to put it bluntly in front of the birthday girl ‘where was the cake I dropped off the day before’! There was hardly any vegetarian options on the menu and the lunch menu itself was tiny. Won’t be returning anytime soon! Such a shame as I’ve been really looking forward to this opening as it’s not far from me. If somewhere is going to charge these kind of prices the customer service needs to be perfect.
