I’ve been a patron of The Last Post for probably around 15 years, I visit regularly to eat and drink and have even stayed upstairs. During this time every visit has be fine, with attentive and friendly staff. That is until today. I ordered a large breakfast, sat at table 17 and when it arrived the server told me that she forgot to inform me they were doing a scheduled fire alarm and that I only had 4 mins to eat my breakfast before being asked to leave the table for at least 10 mins. Now obviously I understand that you need to do a fire drill but slightly annoying to be told you have to eat within a tone amount plus the fact of not being told of the impeding still. So I sent it back, politely and asked that I have a fresh one after the drill — all fine. Seconds later the manager on duty, who without prejudiced or motive had a slight foreign accent and what looked like dyed hair. I am describing these 2 factors for my next comments. Came out basically blaming me for ordering food, not even bothering to talk to me but walking past saying it like a child saying an abusive comment to a stranger. I then asked if this was her, as a manager, an attempt to apologise for the “not being told about the drill when ordering scenario” to which she replied in an belittling way “yeah yeah” I questioned that it didn’t sound like one to which she again strolled off saying “well it is” I then got up and asked a member of staff for her name and if I could talk to her.

Ordered a Chicken wrap and asked for it to be hot. Was sarcastically told the chicken breast always comes hot. When I received my meal there was dried food stuck to my cutlery and my chicken was cold. I complained about the cold chicken and they came back within the minute stating they made me a new wrap. The wrap was now hot and so was everything else, looking inside the wrap the greens had shriveled up so I can only presume my cold wrap was blasted in the microwave rather than remade. There tends to be a problem half the time I order and if it was not for these minor blunders it would be a really good experience as the staff are friendly and the food is good when you get exactly what you order.

Good city centre Wetherspoons to go and chill out and have a drink and something to eat, gets bizzy on Saturday and Sunday during holiday times.

When you get a spot by the booths in the beer garden when the suns out with a nice cold one from a second to none table service, it's quite the place. Food on the other hand was really poor, but an overall ok experience.

Nice pub grub lovely cocktails, nice outdoor seating area.

Nice food but not good if u smoke no room in gardern.

Good food and value for money got a nice outside garden and it is now a hotel.

The Last Post was located directly across from Southend Central Station, very convenient. Its central location was not impacted by rail noise or heavy traffic. The rooms were of an acceptable size very clean and well decorated. The bathroom a good size and immaculate. There was no noise noticeable from the bar below. Access was available out of hours by using your room key avoiding the need to go through the pub. An excellence hotel well priced and perfectly located. It would have been 5* if the room was large enough to sit on a chair rather than the bed, but that said we would definitely use it again.

Always have a lovely evening at The Last Post on a Wednesday night with friends. Good food, good drinks and if you get served by the regular bar staff, they even get to know your order!

Wetherspoons pub, so obviously cheap and cheerful. Can be a little hard to get a table because it's so popular. In doors and outdoor seating and a very good, quick service.

A wetherspoons. So it is what it is. Very lively. Nothing to complain about.

An excellent Wetherspoons! Great historic old Royal Mail sorting office venue. Drinks are remarkably cheap.

A nice place to go to get some things to eat thay have a different food night for instance one day it will be curry night or pie chips and peas and thay also do a steak night and with each dish you can have a drink with it. The drinks are a good price and it's got a good crowd and that's why I give this a 3 out out of 5

Can't fault our stay what so ever. Clean spacious room. Nice big wetherspoons. Near train station near beach. Would stay again.

While The Last Post can be quite a busy and noisy pub, I enjoy going there due to it being a Wetherspoons. Therefore drinks are cheap and they do great deals on food and drink. Additionally, going there in the mornings can be quite nice since it's quiet and they do lovely breakfast deals.

I only have visited the pub portion, not the hotel, but have always been happy regardless of the time that I visited. Food delivery time from ordering has been nice and quick, and service time at the bar is usually reasonable. Topped off with an interesting interior, I would happily recommend the pub.

Very comfortable Hotel. Very modern inside in contrast to the building itself. It has luxury rooms with all kinds of details. We used it only one night to catch the early flight and my sorry not to have stayed longer. The lovely village and the beach too. At the pub prices popular.

Friendly bar staff. Good selection of beers and plenty of seating. Typical Wetherspoons, so good prices for drinks and food and we'll maintained pub.

Hard work! Hard to find a table to sit at, harder to find a clean, cleared one! Hard to have the correct meal you ordered served to you. Not great. But it's Southend Central… Suppose we have to thank our lucky stars it's there! All in all, it's Ok, just could be do much better.

Cheap night out food came within 10 mins has accessable toilets and entrance. Though will be tight with patrons on a busy night. Food and booze all reasonable price.

G8 room and bathroom witn huge shower cubicle but it needs handrails to give more safety when in shower. Busy pub but no noise in room. G8 experience at g8 price. £59 a nite. Fully recommend.

Came here for a lunch out today. Ordered a steak and asked for it medium rare and it came well done, also half of it was grissley fat and cold, partner ordered a burger and it was burnt, chips and onion rings were cold and soggy and stone cold. Dessert was supposed to be a brownie ice cream sundae and it was all brownie, which was very rich, staff were nice but seemed very bored or annoyed. Over all not a good experience definitely wouldn't recommend. Drive the extra few miles and go to Parsons barn in shoeburyness (next to the asda) Parsons barn is 100% better than this place.

Having drank in the pub for the 30 or so years. The pub is a training pub. Well they change the staff frequently. And it has never been the fastest wetherspoon pub when it comes to serving when it gets busy. What they need to do is put the in to quarters and a bar person deals when there bit instead of going down and serving someone else. I say that because having been in various pubs across the country they serve quicker that the last post. But saying that it is a great pub for the food and friendly bar staff.

Staying two nights here very nice room and a bargain for the price. Decided to have dinner which was curry night, first two dishes I tried to order was told they had sold out this is 7.00 (hard to believe). All empty tables were either filthy or had used food and glasses on them so left and ate elsewhere. Mixed feelings about this place I hope it improves tomorrow always regarded wetherspoons highly but need to get their act together here.

I was pleasantly surprised when we were shown our room, it was an ideal size, clean, great bathroom and far enough away from the pub so as to expect a quiet night. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and there were only a few noises from the bar and other guests going to their rooms. However during the night I was awoken several times by staff going through the fire doors and letting them bang shut, it's not difficult to hold the door until it closes quietly. The only other negative is the lighting in the room, it was very dark by the mirrors and very difficult to put make up on. Apart from those few minor gripes we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

Great value. Speedy service. Good mix of young and old. Perfect location.

Great place to go with friends, but can get very busy which means seating is limited.

Very nice interior and the staff were dressed very smart and were very friendly. Only downside is we ordered from the Wetherspoon app to get food and drinks to our table, and while the food arrived fine, we were already half way into our meals and still no sign of our drinks. I had to go up and ask at the bar if they'd forgotten, from which point it took a further 5 minutes just for 2 Pepsi's. The waiter did say they were short of bar staff at that time, and the place was busy because of a football game, so I forgive them. Other than this the experience was very good.

Had a lovely lunch there. Nice staff, tasty food. All good for me.

Great value. Good for quiet, BGM free conversation most of the time but can get a bit raucous. Service far from swift for some reason despite staffing levels but when it finally arrives it's largely friendly.

Just been to the last post, wanted to have a lovely meal with my mother However it was ruined by the standard of the food, my mother order ham egg and chips. The egg was like rubber chips where warm on the verge of going cold I had the Empire burger which had 2 burgers, both of these where black and had a charcoal flavour, the onion rings where near cold and the maple bacon was near flavourless The manager was very helpful and got my mother a second portion of chips and new eggs the chips where hot however the eggs where still rubber left over from breakfast. After contacting the manager we got a refund and an apology which was much appreciated but to little to late. We will not be returning.

Lovely central location, stayed here when relocating and visiting for work interviews. Then recommended to friends and family who also stayed. Great service, great price on rooms and perfect for dinner, drinks and allowing us to explore the town… happy with every visit made here …

It was a Sunday night so it was quite quiet other than the football game. Staff were friendly and we got served quickly.

It's a nice cheap place to eat and drink, lots of choices and options.

I only went for a visit to meet up with a few friends. Even though I didn't stay at the hotel, the service was great and was very accessible. Felt very welcome and will definitely go again.

The last post hotel, is primarily a pub, with cheap food and beer, there is no music as its a wetherspoons. The food is not amazing but its well priced, and there are deals on most days. The drinks are good and cheap which is the most appealing part if im honest.

Good place to stay. Not bad knowing you can get a drink and meal from the pub when its open. Good location.

We were a group of 10 and came for drinks, nice atmosphere, bit pricier than most in the area, but a great location and classy interior. Good cocktails. Would recommend.

A lovely pleasant restaurant. Good food choice at great value for money. Staff very friendly and helpful. The steak was just perfect and not expensive.

A very busy pub restaurant. Even though it was busy we were able to find a seat quickly and food was fast as well (served after about 10 minutes) it was a great lunchtime experience and would go here again. Staff friendly, good food. I have no complaints. :)

Good range of drinks (including regularly refreshed selection of real ales and ciders). Decor, food, service, and prices are all the usual predictable Wetherspoons things. Now has a seated smoking area which is unfortunately only open til 9pm. They ask people who vaporise to go outdoors for no reason. It's close to the main bus station and opposite southend central train stn. Although it can get busy on the weekend it does hold a fairly large crowd.

Didn't stay there but meet friends on a regular basis. Most weekends and have a drinking club The Mustavbeers. We love the place cheap beer and great food.

The Last Post is a lively popular establishment full of a variety of customer's. Drinks are reasonable priced and the food is lovely! Could be better with music but can't complain. Staff and bouncers are polite :)

Ordered the ultimate burger and a drink. Litteraly 5 minutes later the burger was on the table. Not sure how they cook it so fast but tasted good and was good value for money.

What you'd expect… at least not too many serious drinkers at c. 10am. Food is ok for the kids, but because I am on a ketogenic (LCHF) way of eating and my wife is gluten-free we can't eat here. Tables were a little sticky, but then I guess you get what you pay for…

Was nice to be served quick insted of haveing to wait like you do in some other places.

Large weatherspoons with interesting decor. Standard weatherspoons grub and drinks. Always good value. Outside courtyard. You get some interesting types in there, but that's what makes it. Interesting.
