Stayed at the Swinside in June. The pub hosts a 10in10 fells walk in aid of MS research. We did the walk and returned to a party atmosphere with live music and a BBQ. All great fun. Place was heaving but the staff were fantastic and the beer superb! Great location and stunning views from the garden and from the rooms, which were very comfy. They did a vegan option for our son for breakfast which was lovely. A gem of a pub! Will be definitely going back next year!

Large beer garden with great views. Managed to get a table inside on a busy night. Layout is a little sprawling inside with lots of small rooms. Tables are a bit packed in. Beer choice was reasonable and quality fine. Fish and chips was excellent and the veg curry was OK if not great. They serve food much later than any other place in the area. Good parking. Would return if in the area.

Lovely pub, fantastic food (big portions, of course! ), and good selection of drinks — they have a 'double sunset' brewed specifically for them, which is light and refreshing, 3.8% or so, and perfect after a walk (or after a long day sitting on your arse).

Very dog friendly. Lovely kind staff. Very good quality food. Can, t wait to come again.

Popped in for a coffee after a lovely walk. Made to feel most welcome by friendly and attentive gentleman who served us. Lovely sitting outside in the sunshine watching the chickens and cat. Animals here are as friendly as the staff! Definitely a gem to be visited again.

Lovely location with lovely views. It was very busy when we went so might have been better with two staff instead of one.

We visited the pub for food about 7.30 on Easter Sunday. The staff where attentive, friendly and helpful. They quickly found out allergy questions regarding the menu too. I had roast ham Sunday Dinner and my partner a Gammon Steak. Both where good quality, a reasonable size and fair price for the area.

Superb location with amazing views. Great hospitality, food and choice of beers. Family and dog friendly place with character.

Recently refurbished, dog friendly, did not eat here but meals looked very good.

Lovely pub friendly staff, stunning views, dog friendly and very welcoming. We had a meal there it was very good home cooked food and great value would highly recommend to anyone well worth a visit.

The Swinside inn has overlooked the stunning scenery of Newlands valley for years and though it's moved with the times, has retained it's character and charm. It has also overheard many a lively tale or reminiscense of the people who return to the delights of the valley and the inn. It is quite expensive but the food is of good quality and the ale is excellent and the staff are great.

Arrived late for lunch after a very crowded cafe trip was aborted. They fitted two families in with no fuss. Good food, not too long a wait and a welcoming reception. Friendly staff. Middling prices. Fantastic location! A very positive experience… Thanks.

Just been for the first time in a few years and very disappointed. Decided to have the curry of the day which happened to be a fish korma. Very bland. I reckon if I had eaten my napkin it would have tasted better. Was offered a free sweet in compensation which was very good but on receiving the bill was charged for it. I believe the current landlord/landlady used to run the Farmers Arms in Portinscale which always produced consistently good pub food. Have they failed to carry that quality over to a larger establishment I wonder? Having said all this perhaps it was just an off day for the chef, the wrong meal on the wrong day?

A nice seletion of food on the menu and reasonably priced, plus a good range of ales along with the usual on tap lagers. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of price for a family of 5. The staff were on form, attentive and well mannered and an establishment that I would definitely visit again. If you want a pub with great views, that'll quench a thirst and feed an appetite after a good walk with a easy going atmosphere, look no further.

Visited this pub a number of times over the last 25 years. It seems to follow a cycle of ups and downs, with numerous management changes. Think it is currently on a downward journey. Lake District prices. Menu lacks imagination. Food cooked to average standard. There are better pubs for food in this price range.

This is the best value for money pub I have been to in the Lake District by far. I have been visiting the lakes for over 25 years and I was very impressed! Great selection of ales and food of a very high standard. Portion sizes were generous and service was excellent even at a time busy time. I will definitely return soon. Just across the road from our room at Swinside Farm (not the same place! ). If you are at the farm, you get a 10% discount on food. The Inn has great food and one of the best selections of beer we have found at a restaurant in Britain. Don't go cause it's close, go cause it's great!
