Reviews of Jupiter Hotel 3*
Easily one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at.
Super cool, super clean and so much fun! Staff is very friendly! We will for sure be back!
So far a amazing place to be.
Cool and clean. Best view and convenient to craft brew district.
Nice staff. Great atmosphere. And more.
They opened up rooms for homeless and medical staff up to 30 days during this hard time! I’ll support that and how ever I can.
Great service! Location is great, especially for your first time to Portland.
Great staff, service and guests!
The Haunted Beer Brunch was a bust. No brunch food even close to what you have at a brunch. No haunting, two guys walking around and slamming their club. They need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what it’s like to put on a party otherwise just call it a beer tasting and leave it at that. We did go down to the restaurant and have food and it was pretty good but will I ever go back?! Probably not. Will I suggest the Jupiter to others? Probably not.
The beer fest and cider fest that was advertised as a brunch was a bust. Girls walking around with horderves is not a brunch. Only one cider to taste and they ran out. There was limited tasting as well, not worth $35 a piece. Costumes were fun and band was good though. I would Not do it again. I would not recommend paying the cost!
Super cool atmosphere. Run by the best of staff.
Great staff, fun hotel, and smoking permitted outside.
Love this place great atmosphere.
Horrible hotel. Entire outside bar right outside the door. No way to actually sleep. The entire balcony smells like pot.
Not as described. Well never stay here again. Theres no way this should be a 4 star hotel.
Nothing upfront about there being a bar outside the room on your site. Clearly it's an issue if you leave ear plugs in the room. Wanna be up front?
" the room comes with ear plugs to help attempt to drown out the bar 10 feet from your door" try putting that on your site.
Asked to be relocated. Nothing. No refund due to strict cancelation policy. Which makes sense. No way they would stay in business if people could get their money back once they got here and see how things are.
Its 12:30am right now and sounds like a college frat party.
This is by far my favorite hotel in Portland. Amazing staff that are personable, friendly and helpful. Great, clean rooms with awesome amenities. Hey Love has excellent drinks, food and service. Great location. I can't say enough great things about this place. I will only stay at the Jupiter Hotel/Jupiter Next when I visit Portland. Highly recommend!
Fun place. Creative with decor. Smoke friendly balconies.
Horrible service and employees that are dishonest! Doesn’t get worst then that … not impressed … sad!
If being “hip” is your game, then get a room here. Free condoms on the table, water will cost you $5. We stayed on the “quiet” side. Only time it was quiet was when we left for the day to see family.
Amazing hotel, great location, prices are some of the best in town! And the staff are above and beyond when it comes to being helpful, kind and professional while also having fun! Highly recommend this place on your stay when visiting Portland.
Lovely time, the staff was unfailingly courteous and helpful, and even when requests were not possible everyone was kind and offered as many alternatives as available. Comfortable beds, great view from the deck, plenty of space for everyone, and a great location. All for a reasonable price! Would definitely come again.
The Jupiter hotel was really beautiful, clean & accommodating for the group of 3 that I traveled with. Location was perfect as well. The only downfall to me was how loud guests were at all hours of the night. We were there for work and all three of us on different levels of the hotel experienced banging, loud music, yelling and even dogs barking past 2 am. I called the front desk multiple times and am still not sure if the guests making noise were addressed. I did not sleep well in all three nights at the Jupiter which is makes the day difficult with our early call times for work. Super unfortunate with all the money spent here and how comfortable the room was — even the ear plugs did nothing for the noise. If I return it would definitely be for pleasure not business.
Jupiter is true "keeping Portland weird" perfect. From the chalk to write inspirational messages to yourself on your room door to the unique shaped bath soap, Jupiter is a gem. The staff is friendly and non pretentious and represent Oregon well. The bar and restaurant on site are great with lots of drink options and food that is satisfying. I will consider staying at the Jupiter again for sure!
Great place to stay. Well located and the staff was really friendly. There is a restaurant and club with multiple events on site. It definitely fits Portland vibes. I would stay there again. No doubts!
Their policy for not replacing coffee mugs is very silly. I figured that at least the mugs would get cleaned by housekeeping since they aren’t replaced, but they never cleaned the mugs so we had dirty coffee mugs for the next morning. The lack of privacy in the bathroom is also bothersome, and the shower “door” isn’t wide enough so every time we showered the floor around the toilet was flooded. And I would prefer to have an actual phone in the room instead of the Alexa knock off. Not everyone has jumped on the voice activated band wagon. But the bed is comfy, room was quiet and the hotel is in a great location.
Did not realize the hotel is connected to a very loud bar open till 2am. You need the ear plugs not only for the yelling and music outside but also for the loud A/C unit in the room. Bed was also uncomfortable and sheets were itchy.
My husband and I live in Portland but wanted a place for a staycation for our 3rd anniversary. I ended up booking at the Jupiter NEXT. It’s only just opened so there’s still some construction going on but the view from our room and the level of service we received from the second the valet opened my car door our first night made this a five star stay for sure. Side note: the valet service is worth every penny.
This was my first time staying at the Jupiter, but we've been at the Jupiter and the Doug Fir for years for various events (mostly the much-missed Bridgetown Comedy Festival). We had a special event this day, and decided it would be fun to stay in a local hotel, and the new NEXT property of the Jupiter was our first choice. It isn't quite finished, so it looks a little rough in places, but it is very… Portland. Not a bad thing, and they aren't trying too hard, but the personality of the city is well represented. It is a very modern hotel. We had an amazing view of the city from one of the corner suites. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was well appointed. Only a couple of knocks kept it from a full 5. One, the lights in the room are oddly wired. Maybe it was the in-room "Roxy" (think Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa) that I just didn't use, but the switches weren't intuitive. I'm sure with a little of time, it's easy to figure. I just wasn't in the room enough. The next is also light related. The bathroom is a very open glass structure in the middle of the unit, with a frosted side where the bed is. It is private enough, but if you turn on the light in there while your partner is sleeping, they are going to be grabbing for something to cover their eyes. It is bright.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful! They upgraded us to a room with 2 queens when we felt the first rooms bed was too small for us. Then, they gave us a bottle of wine! David walked us to the second room, staying with us to answer all questions. The room was beautiful! We slept so well in luxury sheets, comforters and pillows I believe were down filled. I must find out! We were able to lock our bikes up with theirs and they loaned us helmets since we forgot ours. We enjoyed food and drinks Thursday evening when they were hosting a gathering. Everyone is so hospitable! We enjoyed meeting and visiting with the manager, Al, who made us feel very welcomed.
It was really cool to write things on your door with chalk, just because. Pretty darn cool! The rooms were very original and neat It has a cute little lounge with good food and drinks too. There was a Wedding going on as well, it looked like they were having a great time It seemed like a perfect choice for that! Another thing that was pretty awesome, was you could rent bicycles right outside, the hotel, or maybe you rented them through the hotel…? It's been several years since I've been there. It's in a perfect location, right by the Burnside Bridge and Downtown Portland So close to so many cool things and places!
Was here for a work holiday party a little while ago. It was a nice space. Large and fit us all comfortably. I would have preferred if the heater wasn't directly behind our table. We kept getting over heated!
We had a room close to the bar, which I realize we chose that room type. However, it was not made apparent during booking that having a "bar patio room" meant that we had to deal with hearing music playing until late into the night, and people talking outside our room. We wanted to use this hotel for the room block for our wedding, and after staying there, there is NO WAY we would ask any of our guests to stay at this place. We are in our late 20s and have stayed at plenty of "revamped, budget friendly hotels" and this was my least favorite. Have a music venue or a hotel. Both is just annoying. And definitely make it clear on your website what people are booking. And don't even think of trying to check in early. Our flight got in at 8am, check in is at 4pm. We tried to check-in early, as we do whenever we travel on early flights like this, and we couldn't get a room until 3… Even when the front desk staff said we should have one ready at 12/1, no. When he said come back in 30 minutes, we came back in an hour, till no. And more irritating, is when other people are checking in and getting a room who are in line before us (after our initial try) and they are getting rooms, and we aren't. We tried at 9am, you should save the first room type that we selected for us. You know we're waiting, and we've been asking every couple of hours. Also, I'm pretty positive we booked a King room, and we got a Queen room.
The hotel is pretty sweet. The rooms are stylish and comfortable. Cool bar attached to and right next to downtown. They have great prices on wine in the room too.
Completely overpriced for staying in a Motel. Everything was very low quality. Bad bed, cheap mattress and sheets, broken curtains and below average service.
The facilities are well kept and clean, furnished with trendy modern inspired decor. All the staff I encountered were very nice. Stayed on a Friday night and it was very loud, which kept me up … but is a scene that I probably would have enjoyed in my 20s-30s. Enjoyable & hipster.
Jupiter is nice, clean, hip, and friendly. With an affordable, quaint, and pleasantly comfortable 3-star experience, its self-contained courtyard and "motor inn" motel style allow for a communal vibe when coming and going. Being semi-enclosed doesn't provide a great view of the city, but it does shelter you from the sounds of car and foot traffic, which added a layer of comfort for me during my stay. The in-house restaurant and bar are an added bonus for the weary who don't necessarily want to be stuck in their room, but would be happy to walk a few feet out the door. Their courtyard patio is also exceptionally pleasant.
Just get your head around the fact that the rooms are small and it caters to a younger crowd that may keep late hours, and you'll be fine. Clean rooms, lots of local amenities, a fair price and a great overall location. It doesn't try to be the Four Seasons so set your expectations appropriately. We're glad we gave it a shot.
Ignore if you are a light sleeper. This hotel is above a concert venue and it can be very loud, at least in the room I was in. It doesn't end until about 11 at night and when you have to drive 12 + hours the next day and can't get to sleep until 11:30 its not super fun. Good room though, clean and nice. Motel style. Overall pretty good/ok for the price.
Good room, clean and nice. Motel style. I had a room above their concert venue and the concerts go until 11pm so if you are a light sleeper like me AVOID or ask for a different room (They gladly changed rooms for me). Overall pretty good/ok for the price.
I loved myfirst stay at the Jupiter! The hotel was charming and unique, and the fact that it was so close to everything I wanted to do In Portland was great. I was there primarily for work but the Front Desk staff was able to help me split my stay easily and I didn't need to change rooms. The housekeepers were wonderful. The only negative would have to be that my room was quite loud, but this was all knowledge I went into the reservation knowing, and the woman who we checked in with let us know we were right above the stage. I already booked up three more stays at The Jupiter over the next three months and I am very excited to return soon.
Nice hotel, very retro. We came in early, they still allowed us to use the hotel parking so we could explore Portland. The rooms were decorated nicely and beds were oh so comfy. The doors are chalkboard with chalk sticks inside, we allowed our creativity out. The restaurant, bar and patio was four stars, great service and amazing food. The rooms are not very soundproof, we could hear other guests and a train in the morning was our wake up call each morning.
OK you asked: This was the worst night of sleep I've had in months. There was someone outside our window (on the street not a guest) blaring a right wing talk show from his car radio for about 90 minutes — — admittedly only until about 10:15 pm. Between 10 and 4 am I heard what sounded like activity from a very nearby trash company — — sounds of trucks emptying recycling bottle and banging what sounded like dumpsters every 10-15 minutes. The other guests did not respect your request to keep the noise down after 11. I was woken several times between 11 and 3 by partiers. (And yes while I appreciate that you made a point that you would investigate noise, you would have heard them had you been walking the property — — they were several doors down from us and it seemed there were several groups. ) This just doesn't seems like a good location for a hotel — — or you need to do a better job of adapting the property to the neighborhood. (One the plus side we did enjoy the very close by Burnside Brewery. ) Yeah I sound grumpy but a decent night's sleep is the minimal measure for me and I didn't get it.
Quirky hotel. Rooms are small. Great for one night but don't think I would want to live there for a week. No frig, coffee maker, or microwave. They do provide earplugs and a condom.
Everything was great. Loved the clean room as well as accommodations… until you want to sleep. I was on the “chill side” which ended up being on the corner next to the staircase. Overall very loud staircase with people up and down stomping throughout the night, woke several times. As well no idea the club across the street would go till 330am, that should almost be said to guests for weekend stays. Bass throbbing all night. I wonder if the other end of the chill side heard and felt what I did? Would like to give Jupiter another try but not happy with room location. (Yes I had two fans going and earplugs, didn’t help)
Condoms and ear plugs? Wow! What hotel provides that?! If you’re a millennial, this hotel is targeting your demographic; even though it has a 60s to 70s feel. The beer package honestly isn’t worth what you pay but oh well. The neighborhood is awesome and super walkable (plenty of breweries, restaurants, and roasteries)
Check-in was easy, the rooms are well-decorated and clean. The temperature of the room was a bit chilly in the winter months if you're just hanging out in your room, but the bed was soft and the blankets were warm. The water was hot and the shower water pressure was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you are attending a concert at the Doug Fir Lounge next door and need a place to stay. The only negative was that, as an older hotel, the walls are thin, and some people are less considerate about this. This was not a reflection on the hotel, but other guests. I would stay here again, no question.
The hotel is lovely. Modern, simple, clean, and fun. The staff was extremely helpful in accommodating some unique and time sensitive requests we had when we checked in.
Stayed here in June 2017 for a Def Leppard concert that my cousin and I traveled from Idaho to see. I was a little skeptical at first since she booked the place and it wasn't a big chain name. Best decision ever! The room was great, cozy, and comfortable. The hotel was within walking distance to everything we needed and we had a great time there. In fact, my sister and I are staying at the new expansion, Jupiter Next, in May for the P! NK concert. Traveling from Idaho again for what is to be another incredible experience!
Wonderful. The staff was very helpful. You can tell that management has faith in their employees as the employees move through their job w confidence. They were fun and I liked that they felt comfortable enough to joke around. Jupiter hotel, please continue to believe and encourage your employees to be themselves. Guests can tell when employee are taken care of as it definitely showed in our stay. You’ve got some amazing ones and I hope they stay around for my return. The picture of the sloth was the best. Thank you so much!
We had a great time as always. Just a super fun hotel and really easy to get everywhere from the location. We did have an incident with the rain where the pipes set back up barf (or what looked like barf) into our shower. But the Gal at the front desk was really apologetic and resolved the issue very quickly by moving us to a different room. I was very thankful she quickly provided this solution and made the rest of our stay enjoyable. When checking out, she provided notes so the guy at the front was able to help us as well. He gave us complimentary parking that really help resolve the situation as well. All in all we would come back for sure. Great customer service and quick resolutions.
Always love staying with you guys. We were thrilled to get upgraded for my wife’s birthday to a quieter side of the building. The bed was incredible. We had some merlot from a friend’s room and it was quite good! I tend to go more cab, but this was yummy. Would love to know where to buy one of the grey blankets on the bed. They’re perfect.
The hotel was very cool and in the perfect location. Having the Doug Fir next door is a huge bonus. I do think it would be nice if the staff knew a bit more about neighborhood restaurants. We asked about a place to get a sandwich and they couldn’t recommend anything outside of DF or a brewery. However the staff were all very pleasant and willing to help with whatever we needed. Throughout our stay we found awesome places nearby (especially Grendel’s coffee shop across the street) and were surprised the staff hadn’t mentioned any of them. Our room never got cleaned the first day for some reason we couldn’t figure out but was cleaned well the next day. We had no problems with it being too noisy on the quiet side at all. The Jupiter Hotel is more than just a quirky concept since it is executed so well. Can’t wait to visit again!
We got our car broken into in their parking garage. They told us there was nothing they could do then just turned to the next guest. I get it. Park at your own risk but damn at least sympathize? The pathetic part about the whole situation was, the manager was too scared to come out and talk to us face to face. We waited in the lobby for an hour only for the front desk to keep coming up with excuses on why the manager couldn't see us. … When he was just sitting in the back? You're a coward. Man up and take care of business. Not only as a manager of Jupiter, but as a damn adult.
This is such a fun and unique hotel! My room had a cork board wall and chalkboard door that you could color and write on! Very fun! I will say, though, that I stayed û3 here on a weekend and was kept up into the early notning hours by drunk people partying in a room near by. I guess the walls are pretty thin. Other than that, I really enjoyed it here!
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great hotel! Room is a little small, but all we were doing in there was sleeping so it was totally fine for us. Friendly staff and the common area is nice for hanging out.
I can honestly say that staying here was one of the most stressful experiences I have ever had staying in a hotel. I was staying for 7 nights with a large group for a family wedding and we thought that the Jupiter would be perfect. Though it's not by any means the cheapest hotel, It's hip and centrally located so we decided to give it a go. They couldn't figure out how to take payment and charged multiple cards assuring me they knew what they were doing. It turned out that they charged me an extra $1500. They said that they would refund me but this never happened and the staff quickly forgot who I was and the details of my case. I went into the office every day of my stay and was told different information by different staff. In certain cases, the front of house staff got confused as to who their manager even was! Since the hotel took over a grand from my checking account at the beginning of my stay, I had almost no money for my trip and so had to cancel most of what I had planned. Two weeks later and the Jupiter have yet to give me a singular answer as to when my refund will be processed. The worst part of this is that I have since heard that this is a common thing with this hotel, and it even happened to two of the other people in my party during the same week of our stay. The hotel staff were nice enough but the laid back attitude meant that none of them made an effort to try and help. It was very disappointing.
Trendy and cool! The staff are great, friendly and knowledgeable. Portland has a lot of 'unconventional' activities and the night staff are the ones to point you in the direction of them! Jupiter is in a great location — a good walk to downtown but if you don't want to walk far, there is plenty around within a couple block radius. Good times, thanks Jupiter!
This is the 3rd time I have stayed at the Jupiter. I love the convenience of the location! I also love the modern style and functionality of the rooms. Its really great being able to walk across to Doug Fir, meet friends and colleagues and just walk to my room afterward.
This former motel has been rejuvenated into a comfortable, stylish, and quirky hotel. We stayed in a chill side room above the lobby and it was quiet and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Easy public transit access with three bus lines serving nearby stops.
The hotel was great! The staff was very nice and helpful. They even wrote happy birthday on the door without me even mentioning it was my birthday. The room was nice and relaxing, loved the reindeer wall!
Place is flippin' hilarious and filled with personality. Not a huge fan of the carpeting but other than that it was great. Staff bent over backwards to ensure a great experience. Perhaps not for those seeking the traditional upscale hotel experience, but if your travel companions would rather stay at a unique place than a chain, the Jupiter is interesting.
It was a cute boutique hotel for the right customer. I was not that customer. I felt like I was staying in an expensive roadside motel. The outside of the building looked run down & the rooms smelled like mildew. I was first placed in a room on the first floor in the back corner of the courtyard. When I noticed the smell in the room and the proximity to the public bathroom, I asked to be moved. The staff at the front desk were very friendly, professional and accommodating. They had a great sense of humor, joking with me while quickly finding me another room. While the next room was further from the bathrooms, the smell was still there. I wanted to open the window to air out the room, but the window did not open. the parking situation had some growth opportunity as well. Paying $15 to park my car in a garage is acceptable. Paying $15 to park in a gravel lot across the street from the hotel is not. There should be some better organization around handing out parking passes for a garage that can't accommodate the amount of guests that are staying. the restaurant/bar, doug fir lounge was awesome! the ambience, the urgency, the price — everything was above expectations. The bartenders definitely knew how to pour a good/stiff drink! the happy hour menu was great, plenty of choices and great price. there was a wedding going on when we were there and it was beautiful! it was easy to see that the staff took great pride in creating a memorable experience for the wedding party.
We loved the Jupiter! The hotel's interior and exterior decor/design is gorgeous and unique — clean, modern, artsy, cool. Displays of local art and room chalkboards to decorate also added to the experience as well. The location, right next to a Max bus stop, the Doug Fir, and Voodoo Donuts, was also fantastic! Next time we come to Portland we will definitely be staying here again! Don't change :)
I just wasn't a fan. Everything seemed poorly constructed. Floors and walls are thin. You can hear everyone talking outside. Very LOUD hotel (motel).
I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was extremely friendly and personable. They even pointed out some cool local industry spots to check out. The room was pretty basic but had a cool contemporary vibe. The hotel lounge was great. It's a pretty busy spot at night, which I like, and the food and drinks were great. My room was right across from the lounge but I didn't mind the noise one bit. And with the A/C or fan on, I couldn't even hear it. All in all, it was a great stay and I'll definitely be back.
Jupiter is in a great location and the staff were friendly. My room was very loud even though I had booked a "chill side" room for the purpose of having a quieter room. The rooms are clean and cute, though the bathroom I had could use some updating.
The Jupiter hotel added to my perfect Portland experience. The overall atmosphere was lively and upbeat; perfect for younger travelers looking for a night in the city. The employees were very friendly and quirky, my room was clean and adorable, and the location of the hotel was convenient. The hotel was very unique and I would definitely stay there again.
Overrated for the price. We paid $20 more per night than our friends to get the quieter room at 4 star hotel prices. The room still had the original Motel lime green bathroom (like any other $50 a night motel) and was not renovated but our friends who had the cheaper room did have an updated bathroom. I also found a old bar of used soap in the bathroom which was gross. The rooms also were not particularly sound proof, so even though we paid extra for a quieter room, that did little to stop the noise. No fridge and no coffee (Well I was never told of complementary coffee and could not locate it), also was disappointing. Yes the place looked super cool but I don't think we would stay there again. We would either save our cash and go to the motel across the way or pay the same $$ for an actual 4 star hotel with quality bells and whistles.
Sheets/down comforter & room smelled so much like wet dogs I had to change rooms after the first night, also first room didn't have any sort of hanger/closet or dresser for long term stays. I was there a total of 15 nights for work. new room had a disappointing 7 hanger rack which I was only able to hang a few items of clothing. Room still smelled heavy of pets. Was disappointed there was not 1 room in hotel that was pet free. shower was not 'hot' water, it was only warm. Requested to have this adjusted but it was never fixed. hotel cleaners never vacuumed my room and only left conditioner/shampoo/moisturizers some of the time… about every other day. I was depending on those so I finally had to go to desk to ask for more. hotel & room looked nice but wasn't very functional and was disappointing. Staff in lobby was nice though, especially Brett.
I travel constantly. I'm in hotels more than at home and the Jupiter is one the. Coolest hotels I've stayed at. Eclectic, friendly, and functional I would never choose another hotel in Portland. I just wish they were in other cities.
The rooms were nice and clean, great service from the hotel staff providing extra blankets and towels. Loved the restaurant and bar attached to the hotel. Great food and drinks with a great atmosphere.
The front desk clerk was rude and the clients they cater to are obnoxious. I took this room because it was discounted over the usual price and liked the location. For the service and facilities provided, it was still insane. Apparently when you park with them, they have an underground garage and a lot. Well, the front desk clerk "knew" the cross streets of the lot, and there is a lot there, but there's no way to access it. The attached bar is outrageously expensive, even for well drinks. They give you 10% off breakfast though! Also, despite being an Oregon hotel, the wine in my room was from California…
Came for a short visit on November 15-16th, our room (135) was interestingly decorated with ikea style furnishing, though small it was cozy. My fiance an I are in the upper 20s and tend to like nifty hotel like this, c'mon, the Dug Fir lounge is literally attached to it and we could literally walk there in our jammies to get a drink. Super fun and alive if you ask us. A quick call to the front desk revealed that there is parking under the hotel and it will cost an additional 10$ per night, which is pretty good considering some place charges 40 bucks for valet. The front desk staff we encounter during our stay was knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly, it's like they're filled with love. Now, We Stayed in room 135 which had a unique quirk where it made us snuggle both nights — — it was awesome, we grew closer as a couple because of this. That said, be forewarn that the only climate control we had in that room was to set the Air Conditioner to blow COLD or EXTREMELY cold air, there isn't even a heating control knob on the window unit. On our last night there, there were a lot of banging and sound of metal on metal when we turn in at around 10PM. Naturally, we thought the staff were working on something in the open courtyard (the staff we saw were always working) or Doug Fir were loading things.
2 couples, stayed in a double at the Jupiter. Room was very nice, staff was friendly and cool. HVAC in the room could have been a little more even, but I will definitely stay here again.
I had a very nice time with my friend there the other night. It was a large night last minute pick, and I'm grateful I chose this one. The rooms were clean, well decorated. My favorite was the chalk board door. Room 210 had a window as well that was very nice.
Basic room for a quick and easy night on the town. Condoms and earplugs complimentary, for either you doing your thing or you trying to sleep off that nights hangover. Very modern decor, looks like Ikea designed the hotel, parking within the compound is a nice feature. Being right next to The Doug Fir is great if your catching a show there. Union Jacks is down the street if your in need of an alternate experience.
This place was great. Front desk was knowledgabel about surrouding area. Diner next door was great, 10% discount for booking a room. There is a very nice music venue in in the basement as well, This place is close to downtown attractions, shopping, stadiums, and other metro area norms, all within walking/cheap cab distance. INDOOR PARKING was great but make sure you get a spot early in the day because they fill fast. Try to use cabs, public trans, or walk if possible because your spot in the garage is not reserved (lets face it, its a metro are there is crime). There is overflow parking above ground if needed. The rooms are modern, functional, and clean. Optional kitchenette upgrade is very nice if you are planning on extended stay. There is also a laundry room open to the public as well (With a room key). It is a remodeled motel but the ammenities are adequate enought to be calle a hotel. I would not suggest a stay here with the family, but if you are a 20 or 30 something looking for a hip and clean place to stay while in the area, I would however suggest you rest your head at this comfy yet energetic "hmotel".
The most Portland-style hotel you can find. Great location, very friendly staff & clean rooms. Stayed here for a week on business & partly sightseeing. Highly recommended!
The Jupiter provided me with everything I needed during my 2 night stay. The beds are just fine, shower was lovely, wake up call was right on time, and they had coffee at 5:00am. Awesome!
I Booked the wrong night by one day and despite having plenty of vancancy would not give partial refund or credit when I realized the mistake.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, good ac/television, soaps/shampoos and location in Portland. However, note this IS NOT for families. It is a teeny, tiny room with no microwave or fridge and the gratuities include a condom and one pair of ear plugs to help you sleep through the loud bar/restaurant downstairs that is a hipster heaven. The room is way, way overpriced for the size and the fact that in reality its actually a refurbished motel, not a hotel. Also the TV remote didn't appear to have a guide button so you just flip through the channels blindly. I was pleased that the door is made of chalkboard and my toddler son could draw on it. The staff warned us about noise potential and I expected not to get any sleep but since it was a Wednesday night and the a/c was on, we all slept just fine in the comfy bed. Lastly, remember to pull down the sun shade for privacy. As I was walking down the underground parking lot (for which you will be charged extra), I could clearly see a man sitting on the toilet because the room is so small and the curtains are see through. If you are a young partier with a disposable income this is probably perfect for you. Especially if you are a hipster or a hipster fan or ally. If not, spend 1/3 of the price at a motel 6 that comes with a fridge and coffee maker.
If the ACE Hotel is booked, this is the perfect alternative. Low rates for great, clean rooms that put you next to everything you need to explore Portland. Make sure to stop by Sizzle Pie if you stay here.
I really dig this place. Hip, charming, pet friendly, sweet staff, comfy beds. Also the soap and lotion smell amazing! On the flip side the rooms are small and they lock up the kitchenette (unless you pay an upgrade fee) which is kind of lame.
Small rooms filled with Ikea furniture. Walls are too thin. This is likely a good place if you like to party and don't mind lack of sleep. If you intend to get some sleep this is a place you'll want to pass up. They divide the hotel into 2 regions. One is the quiet area for guests that want some rest. There is supposed to be a noise curfew on this side. I was there on a Sunday night and expected some noise but not the level of noise I encountered there. Got very little sleep. The thin walls make it seem like people in the parking lot are right in bed with you and the noise didn't die down until around 4 AM. On a positive note the room was clean and didn't smell. Won't be back though.
Cute room until you inhale and note that it smells like mildew and wet dogs. Wind and rain came through the window all night, by the morning the carpet was wet a third of the way across the room. The nonsmoking rooms are good, but everyone just stands outside their doors to smoke and that is where the A/C is so the smoke just goes into your room all night. Their parking is a joke, the underground secure parking is first come first serve and you're SOL. You get to pay $10 to park in the unlit gravel parking lot across the street with the broken down buses and broken glass. Better off parking on the street. Staff was nice, although they didn't offer compensation for the water and mold in the room, they waived the parking fee. Rooms were clean and there was plenty of hot water. Didn't mind the loud music and crowds outside, that is part of the appeal. However I will never stay there again. For the price (>170 a night) you can stay at far nicer places.
Interesting little hotel. Rooms were clean with eclectic art, not to my taste, but that is too subjective. We were cautioned of a special event happening, and it was loud until 11p when management shutdown the event. AC in the room was loud and effective. Limited parking is available underground at no additional charge.
What can I really say about the Jupiter but that I expected so much more. Flew into town for a wedding with a date and was treated very well by the staff (the only reason for the 2 stars otherwise it would be just one) but the remainder of the experience was significantly lackluster. The rooms are the definition of basic and you will need to ask the front desk for much what would be standard at other locations (Ironing board, etc. ). While I expected a slightly weird vibe to the place, it is Portland after all, the mannequin in lingerie at check-in and the condom on the bedside table greeting us when we walked into the room was not expected at all and, frankly, was off-putting enough to consider checking out and staying somewhere else for the remainder of my 4-night PDX stay. Had I know this before booking I certainly would have chosen someplace else. But we gave it a chance… Parts of the room were poorly finished (electrical sockets, door hooks, etc. ) and other parts of the room required repair before use. As for the noise level… My personal assessment is that more was spent on appearances and hipsterness of the rooms rather than the comfort level as the sound-insulation was probably the same from before any renovation (i. E. Paper thin). Expect to be a part of conversations next door and the roar from the adjacent Doug Fir bar to fill your room. To drown out the noise you’ll need to flip-on your in-room AC unit or pray for rain. And beware of the parking charges.
This revamped motel is so hip that it will make you wish you had stopped at American Apparel or Goodwill to get some new threads. The rooms are decorated simply yet effectively. They have quite an awesome mini bar with a varied selection of munchies and drinks. The location is awesome. So, if you're an out of town visitor without a car it will be easy to navigate your way to populars eats and watering holes. I'd say the only downfall to these rooms are the price versus the size i. E. It's a bit small for the price.
Attached to the ever-popular Doug Fir lounge and music venue, the Jupiter is hipster heaven. Rooms are basic but clean, and come with both condoms and earplugs. Theme is 50s space age motel, sort of like Tomorrowland in Disneyworld, but waaaay less wholesome.
Upon arrival, the employees are so friendly and welcoming that you feel like you should give them a hug. The fact that your room, the amazingly awesome restaurant (try the crab cakes), incredible Happy Hour and outdoor patio are all within 200 feet of one another is fantastic. Seeing your FAVORITE band play 2 feet in front of you in such a personal setting is priceless. Meeting your FAVORITE singer in the underground parking lot and getting hugged by him. PRICELESS! Thank you, Jupiter, for this amazing opportunity. We are coming back.
