Reviews of Soho Grand Hotel 4*

This review is for the bar/lounge. Visited on a Friday evening. DJ started playing weird MoTown tunes which completely killed the chill mood. Weird B&T crowd turned up. Drinks are good but somehow small; hence overpriced. Staff kinda stuck up too. All in all place lost its soul and edge which it used to have.. sad.

Doormen were very polite and helpful. Front desk over the top. Nice rooms and wonderful bed linens. Enjoyed my stay.

Ok for the money. Called reception twice to get a second bath robe... I guess you really shouldn't be expecting 2 of them when you are booking a room forn2 guests. I likes the atmosphere. I liked the fact that there were two separate parties going on. The bar had one vibe, while a lounge across the lobby had a different one. Free entrance for hotel guests. Overall, I would come back. With my own bath robe, I guess. ;)

First time staying here. Solo. Business. All good. The rooms are good and the bar is great. Friendly staff and a lot of interesting people staying here from all over. Citi bikes are a block or two away and you can walk to pretty much anything you need. Look forward to staying again.

Dope hotel. Awesome breakfast. Beautiful people hang out. Ran into Boris and Nicole... such a sweet couple... great excellent service! I'll stay here often

Went to Gilligan's bar to meet some friends for pre-dinner drinks. We were excited to go for the amazing setting, but the service was really poor. The bartender was rude while I ordered and we were told that we could only use a table if we were getting food. However, there were mounds of empty tables and no where to stand around the bar. Plus, with pitchers totalling $60, it is not like we would not be spending a decent amount per table. I would not recommend it.

I stayed two nights at the Soho grand while traveling for business. Rooms were on the smaller side, which is to be expected in NYC. Premises were overall well maintained, and cleanliness was solid. Front desk staff were okay, didn't quite live up to the hospitality I've read about in other reviews — maybe it was because of my t-shirt and comfortable dress?

Technically Soho. Technically, but more Tribeca if you ask me. Your average three-star NYC hotel with lots of smoke and mirrors, but the location is four-stars-awesome and the bedding was DIVINE! The Roxy across Canal is better.

This place is nice everything but I swear this hotel is haunted. I heard a demon at the front lobby. Y'all can call me crazy but this place gives me the creeps. You probably won't notice it if you are not sensitive to energies. Apart from that it's really gorgeous and kinda gothic. Super fancy and fabulous.

Really lovely location but my word is it noisy. We stayed 8 days and 3 of the days there were road works outside. Other days were noisy all throughout the night because of the amount of traffic and car horns 24_7. There were a few members of staff who hang around the lobby by the lift who do not seem friendly or welcoming. The doormen are always nice as are the people behind the concierge.

Our second time there and everyone recognized us and greeted us like family. Nearly a perfect experience. Only lacking almond milk for the coffee machine on the floor. We travel with three small dogs. They had a dog bed and dishes in the room. Two floors are reserved for dogs and they have a dog run next to the hotel. We will return!

Really great vibes. Very cozy and on trend with the ambiance. The drinks were nothing to die for but if you’re looking for a cool place to catch up with a friend or more intimate setting for a date this is a great location in SoHo.

The rooms are small enough for two people and the storage is still quite limited but the location and design gives them a little more.
Regarding the service, several omissions in particular on the Roomservice with missed or late orders, on the other hand the staff is attentive and quick to meet the demand.
Regarding the restaurant, there are quite varied choices overall and the meals are excellent, just a small lack of choice at breakfast (personal opinion). Quite satisfied overall.

I absolutely LOVE this hotel! Most of the front desk people are very helpful and friendly and staying here is way less expensive than I thought. Even though the rooms are slightly dated, the downstairs bar and decor makes up for it. When in NYC you don't really spend much time in your room anyway. I gave it 4 stars just because I think having a spa would make this hotel perfect. The food is not as great as I would have expected, but there are tons of good restaurants around. Overall, I look forward to staying here each time I am in NYC.

Lovely! It's one of my favorite Hotel bars in the area. It's a little on the Posh and pricey side, however the decor and the company makes up for it. Super elegant and has a cool feel to it, love the Ambiance there. If you're in the area stop by for a cocktail and maybe some french fries and a burger.

A very good location and the bedding is very nice

Beautiful hotel with a very full restaurant and excellent attention

Irene P.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. Room is somewhat small but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty. Found the restaurant bar a nice place for evening drinks but given that median age of the clientele the music was not we'll selected. Great location… would definately stay here again.

Emmett H.

Beautiful hotel with a friendly staff. Location is unbeatable and had a great time at the hotel bar with friends and family. Being able to bring our dog was also a major plus! Definitely will stay here again when we are back in New York.

Loved this hotel. Stayed for a girls weekend. Breakfasts are supper yummy and comfy on the lounge, that turns into a lively bar with very good music and a Dj at night. We came late to the bar after our night in the city, great drinks and very attentive staff. The rooms are gorgeous and the beds super comfy. It also has all the services you would want and a super packed mini bar. The views in our room where superb. One of the best hotels in New york

Patrizia D. S.

Particular hotel, different from the usual American hotel chains all the same. He will love to those looking for the authentic new York that is not easily shown to a mass tourism sometimes a bit vulgar and conventional in expectations. The rooms are large enough and the furnishings, like that of the bathroom, deliberately retro ' twenties. Great restaurant and the hotel often is home to very well attended trend initiatives. It was a very nice and friendly staff with the Italians.

Michael H.

Very stylish and dimly lit hotel. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and beautiful decor. Rooms are rather basic to match the rustic shabby chic style of the hotel. I would recommend it as a simple hotel with a nice bar but not a luxury experience.

Melinda G.

I had a great time staying here. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. If you plan to eat or drink at the hotel, do expect a bit of a wait, its quite popular.

Steven C.

Fun and upscale atmosphere. Rooms are on the definitely on the small side. The lobby is on the 2nd floor up the grand stairs, and is next to the restaurant. The rooms have a mini bar and fridge with all sorts of interesting and tasty things on display, but they all cost quite a lot. Bed was super comfortable. The noise insulation wasn't great, especially at night, when you can hear what's going on outside the hotel.

Hunter B.

Overall, great NYC hotel and location. The bar and staff there are great and my wife and I had an amazing cocktail and great conversation as well. As for the rooms, I have to take one star away because the climate control situation leaves a lot to be desired. The system is ineffective and loud, and it will keep you up at night. Quarters are also a little tight but the bed was very comfortable, Hotel staff was great and we enjoyed our stay here.

Emory E.

Beautiful European style hotel. Small but well thought out rooms with extremely comfortable beds. Amenities are very good.

Mike B.

I would say this is a five star hotel! This place is awesome I stayed at 6 different hotels. By far this was my favorite all we're Leaps and Bounds better than the Trump Hotel and most were cheaper. This one had the friendliest staff so it gets 5 stars.

Francis M.

Great hotel and amazing location. Friendly and helpful staff comfortable room with a beautiful matching asthetic. Great service, good room size, and a fantastic location. Very impressed!

Shaya K.

As soon as you pass the threshhold of the hotel, it's cool and chic vibe ushers you in. Grand staircases and an exceptionally good looking staff really elevate the experience. Comfortable sofas lining the walls, situated for people watching, just adds to the whole experience. Drinks and service were superb, and the food was divine. Highly recommend!

Josh S

I went on a date at the Gillian's. Both her and I were very impressed. It's a very Instagram worthy place that was perfect for the weather.

Warren K.

Great staff, food, and drinks. Had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel. Love that they allow dogs. Would definitely stay here again.

Nancy L.

Good service but a little expensive.

Victoria A.

Got the room through Hotwire. Ended up with a queen bed on the north side of the building. We were told we would have a view of the Empire State building but the building on the other side of the street is in the way. The room size is small but I expect that most hotels of this kind are similar in size. There aren't many sights around the hotel so I used the subway the entire trip. There are two subway stops but both are a few blocks away. It did look like they have bikes that could be used but I did not ask about them. Maybe next time. Overall the hotel was nice and I would stay here again but I would bring better walking shoes next time.

My husband and I decided to spend our wedding anniversary in NYC this year and since he has never been to the city, I wanted to stay in a hotel that was near the areas I like to visit. Our experience was fantastic and I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city! Location is great, super easy access to the MTA and lots of walkable restaurants and shops. The hotel is beautifully decorated and our room was a pretty large compared to other hotels I've stayed at in past trips to NYC. The staff were all friendly and attentive, they even upgraded our room and sent a bottle of champagne up when they heard about our anniversary! We are both extremely happy and will continue to stay here for future trips. Thank you for a great experience!

Marco D.

Unique Hotel in a beautiful area and with a cost all in all great if you book co n some advance you can also pay very little

Rafael Y.

Great hotel pretty affordable and rooms are clean and littler free. Prices are decent about 260 a night. I was stay in their penthouse so of course that would be more money. Inside was rustic with brick walls pretty old school but wonderful. Kids friendly and free Wi-Fi. The out door patio with beach chairs are nice and comfortable. Overall great experience and love this hotel for their luxurious penthouse.

Kimberly L.

I love Soho's Lounge Bar and come often so this review is only for their lounge. The food here is good; but I mostly come to unwind on weekends. The Barmen are very generous with their mixes. The ambiance of the lounge is very london, with a few little hideaways for you and your friends to escape the randoms. Music is nicely mixed. Very chill. The side bar is great in Spring and Summer. Figured I make this my first review since I've come enough times. To be clear I never stayed here, since I live in NYC. So my review is just for the Lounge Bar.

Brooke H.

Booked the penthouse for a couple of days to celebrate mine and some friends birthday's. Definitely DID NOT disappoint. Restaurants downstairs are quaint and charming. Will definitely be returning on my next trip to NY.

Underwhelming experience on a recent stay — the rooms were renovated a few years ago, but more fundamental renovations were skipped. Expect ancient noisy AC units, and poor sound insulation on the windows. Deluxe King bedrooms are cynically placed on the noisier south side of the building, and don't seem to feature an actual King-sized bed — book the cheaper Deluxe Queen if you want to have a quieter room. Staff were full of good intentions — but overall execution was poor; staff offered to move us after we complained, but didn't actually make a note on their system or execute the move until we reminded them. We were promised a 'gift' to apologise, which was never delivered to our room. Location is outstanding, and noise/bed size aside, rooms are nice enough (we loved the bathroom decor and our goldfish, Freida), but this isn't enough overall to make me want to return.

Agustin R.

Within walking distance of Greenwich Village and 15 minutes from the new World Trade Center. The views from the terrace are spectacular.

Kalvin M.

Location was OK, close to subway. A lot of restaraunts were close by. Staff were excellent. Rooms were new York sized but good. Hotel had a artsy feel to it.

Daniel O.

I've always had a pleasant time having meetings at the SoHo Grand Hotel. I'd suggest opting for the cocktails. Never stayed in the hotel proper, though.

David S.

Very cool place. Great staff and very nice room. Fantastic location. Would come again soon!

Grace L.

This is my favourite hotel in New York. I am from Manhattan yet elect to stay here. The rooms are beautiful, great views, amazing customer service. I am giving it 4/5 because my car was scuffed in the valet parking and it was covered in white paint to attempt to conceal it. I would have preferred honesty — — everything else about the hotel is truly amazing and worth the stay. But I won't be dishing out 50$ again to have someone scuff my new car.

Penny C.

I stayed at the Soho Grand in March 2015 for 2 weeks and loved everything about it. The room was spacious and had an amazing view of New York towards the Empire State Building; I loved watching it change different colours each night. The house made muesli with almond milk was so delicious. The room was cleaned every day and the decor was very cool and quirky. I would definitely go back. I'm from Sydney Australia

David D.

One of the trendier hotels in the area with nice decor. The bar gets pretty loud so the rooms have white noise generators which do a good job of disguising noise from the hotel. The bar can be good fun so if you're more for making noise than listening to it you'll love this place. That said, I'm not trying to paint it to be horrific while in your room. This hotel is a favourite among colleagues travelling to the city balancing work and play.

Great size room. Good choice for location. Saturday night music dj was great! tip. Check out second lounge if you want privacy. No reservation necessary.

What a fantastic place! from the enchanted deco to the kindest employes, this place is just a gem in the middle of SOHO. Everything is nice and classy.
