Our room was small but very clean and comfortable we had no view but extremely quiet so we enjoyed our stay and all staff were very friendly and helpful will definitely stay again and the bed and pillows are great.

Nice and friendly, service is fast, rooms are nice and clean and cozy, plus you get 30dolla voucher to spend everyday of your stay.

Needs some tweaking, breakfast flow needs to improve, needs new furniture in the lounge, needs a nighttime spot attached to the hotel and laundry service must be flawless. Staff is outstanding.

Great, helpful, friendly staff. The lounge has a relaxing ambiance after a long day. Enjoyed cocktails and complimentry home style fries. Easy check-in. Don't forget to quest a coffee/tea (sleepy time) Keurig. Clean hotel. Would recommend a stay. Easy walk to time square, Rockefeler, Grand Central and Central park.

Room was not as described. Customer service was horrible — the manager and director laughed at my distress and did not take my concerns seriously. I would not recommend.

I do not recommend to stay here, they take your credit card details and then charge you for things you haven’t had and then they won’t answer emails or phone to sort out the query. They refuse to take cash, obviously, this is the reason why. Beware people!

I had an enjoyable stay at The Maxwell, clean rooms, good facilities, friendly staff and they were quick to return my security deposit back on to my credit card. The location is perfect for exploring Midtown with the Rockerfeller Centre, Fifth Avenue and Times Square all within a 15 minute walk.

The thing is the rooms are lovely the house keeping is 10/10, but the staff at checking are not very good. We came to nyc for my birthday and our friends reckoned this hotel. My wife emailed 5 times about a bottle of champagne in the room and was replied each time that this would not be a problem. Guess what it didn’t happen and the staff attitude was oh well never mind. Also we knew nothing about the destination charge which is an extra $150 dollars which we paid on check in. Then checking out we were told we had to pay it plus we had stuff from the mini bar and used the 1st aid kit. Which we had not used either of these. There was no apology for there mistake on try to charge us.

I had a very pleasant experience here, stayed for labor day weekend and the service was great! I was a bit leary to stay here after reading some reviews but everything was just fine! I would recommend this place.

I had a nice room on the 11th floor. Check in was smooth. Friendly service. Had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Good food and service. Room was very clean, it just seemed very dated and in need of a remodel. Bed was comfortable at least. Shower could have been stronger, but was tolerable. Overall, good experience at a price that was more than reasonable.

Really liked the art designs in the hotel. Rooms were spacious enough and the AC worked great. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The only negative aspect we found was that if you even touch the candies/chips in your room, you are charged for them. This would be fine if they had that written anywhere. Just a minor annoyance as the front desk removed those charges. Also, really liked the bar area near the front desk. Made a great jalapeno/cucumber drink.

A beautifully reinvented W Hotel. Excellent location in the central part of Manhattan. Our meeting rooms and staff was excellent. The food and seating arrangements were outstanding. I did visit two of the hotel rooms and they were elegantly done. Spacious and very well appointed.

The hotel was pretty nice for the price. Compared to other hotels in the area it was more affordable. The lobby is beautiful and overall the decor is great. We had a Suite which was a pretty good size. However, the bathroom could be bigger. We were able to push check-out 1 pm which was nice. One thing that bothered me was that the room wasn't ready when we got there around 6 pm but fortunately we only had to wait a few minutes as the cleaning staff was finishing up.

This is very comfortable hotel. When I booked, I booked here as W hotel so a little bit confused to find out. But this is located in front of the main road no problem to find out. The room I stayed was a little bit tiny than I expected, but bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable, besides I could use small walk in closet. Commissary is near this hotel until midnight, so it is ok to get any food even midnight.

Great location is the only positive. After checking in the allocated room was not ready as house keeping had not cleaned it and were unaware they needed to. Thankfully moved to another room. In room Air-conditioning is extremely loud when turned on. Bathroom taps leaked and bathroom plug didn't work. Could not use the fridge as door would not open. Requested four times over a period of three days for maintenance to fix but after a 6 night stay I checked out with no one fixing or even looking at the fridge. I gave up on this place when the railing in the lift fell off its place on the wall. Avoid avoid avoid!

Hotel didn't have reservations. Long wait, very RUDE. Didn't honor any special requests, Hotel does not answer in house calls. Missed business calls, due to house phones not answering. Here's the GROSS. Bedding had Blood on them, mini bar not stocked then charged my card. Shop in hotel was Open but no one was there when needed sweater in rain. Absolutely the most Ridiculous, Horrible, Mad attitudes toward guests. Oh also WARNING, Hotel has not been Renovated as stated. So many choices in NYC. Do not make this choice!

This is a very basic hotel. I would say it is a 3 star hotel. Definitely not worth paying $300 or more for this stay a night. Stay only if you get it at $150-200 a night. Rooms are very small and run down, really not worth the hassle. In fact, it’s been recently dropped from the W brand. Now known as the Maxwell.

Rooms are a good size, although the layout is a bit strange in room 641. All the plugs are nowhere near the bed or mirror so using hairdryers ect has to be done in the bathroom. Hotel staff are really helpful and nice, and answered all my questions.

Great hotel, the room wonderful for a couple is large enough and very clean to our arrived, the bedding is really top! the bar of the hotel is top one can order to eat at any time of the day and night, the prices are a little high but overall in NYC all prices are eleves! free coffee in the morning at the reception which is always nice. Two little bémols, the daily housekeeping which is done a little quickly and the lack of closet in the room, but overall everything was great.

What was once a fun hip hotel chain now feels old dated and stodgy. One feels like they are maximizing profits by skipping on amenities. Ceilings look like they haven't been painted in years. Signs in the elevators were taped to the elevator walls. I'll be taking my "whenever" dollars to a different chain very shortly in the future. This particular hotel smelled very mildewy from the moment we walked in to the moment we left three days later.

I stayed here for 5 nights. The rooms are pretty okay, I've had much better places in the same locality and similar prices. I stayed in the Wonderful room which was just about okay. The safe wasn't working and they took forever to get it repaired. Their restaurant has a rather small menu, but the service is efficient. The gym is bearable (on 4th floor). Ask for higher level rooms. It's about 10 minutes walk from Grand Central, Chrysler building (in pic) and the UN HQ.

The front desk lies and has the worst customer service. (They literally threw a penny at me! ) First, I was lied to at check-in. As an SPG gold member, I always ask nicely if there is a room upgrade available. It almost never happens, so I do not really expect it. However, I was told by that front desk person that they upgraded me to a spectacular room. Imagine my excitement! I got into the room and decided to look up the room type on my reservation. It turns out that I alread…y paid for a spectacular room! So there was no upgrade at all, which would have been fine normally, except they told me they gave me an upgrade. Lies! At check-out, they literally threw a penny at me in anger. I went to the front desk to ask about the minibar charges. I was told that the items are on a pressure sensor, and I should have known better than to touch anything if I didn’t want to get charged. They begrudgingly took the charges off but decided to add $0.01 to balance out the numbers. That is perfectly fine. I was just going trough the bill extra thoroughly because of the minibar charges, so I asked about it. They pretty much said: “You want a penny? You can have your penny back! ” The person rummaged through the change drawer, got a penny, and threw it at me! I asked nicely if there is anyone else who can help me. The person went away for almost 10 minutes. The manager came out and was clearly short with me to begin with. The manager then told me that I’m getting a $0.

Over all pretty nice. Good sheets. Good whiskey bar downstairs. One of my pet peeves no coffee in the room and no coffee in the lobby. You have to exit the building for coffee or have a sit down in the restaurant. Every room does not include free Wi-Fi only certain price points. Hence the 3.5 rating.

After reading the reviews before going I was worried about this hotel. Once I arrived all my fears were put to rest. I must say I had an amazing experience from check in to check out. I was offered a late check out of 2pm with no hesitation. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was great and all amenities were appreciated. The hotel staff went above and beyond in their attentiveness to detail. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a convenient location to just about anywhere. Thank you W for making my vacation a pleasant one.

While the staff was perfectly nice, it's clear this hotel has not been renovated since the mid nineties when it was opened. The lobby smells like a frat party. It was clean enough but definitely has seen better days.

I was at 2016 and loved it. The room was great and very comfortable. A very close and friendly treatment on the part of the workers.

Great location, just a few blocks from 42nd st. The decor is wonderful very livly and modern but for the price the rooms are way too small. Not to mention they charge you for just about everything you use in the room. It was a nice stay. My first and last time for this hotel thought, great for business meets and things of that nature, but a weekend in the city, I’d recommend trying elsewhere.

Attended a business meeting, I did not stay there. Meeting room was well maintained and quiet. Lunch was very good. Overall a very good experience.

This was a nice hotel. It was clean and very modern. The only thing I can say about this place was the rooms were very small. I stayed in hotel rooms either cheaper or the same price but bigger rooms. When arrived the front desk asked us if we want to upgrade for a small fee. We didn't because it was only one night. But our friends did and I have to say their room wasnt much bigger. So that wasn't worth the ungrade. Our other friends got a suite separate living room still fairly small. Overall nice 1 night hotel For a night out in the city but Not more than that.

Poor recognition for elite membership. Had to ask twice before I was given breakfast for being a platinum member. Room was very small, not the typical upgrade I expect for Platinum. The whole hotel feels like a converted dorm. Cramped, dark rooms. Appliances in various states of disrepair. The shower handle fell off when I turned it. Shower curtain rod is rusted and too high for the curtain to reach the tub, water goes everywhere. The air conditioner is so loud we slept in the heat to avoid the noise. Would not stay here again.

I stayed here because it was right around the corner from our office. The staff were super helpful and the room service food was really good!
The issue I had was the room was very small and the lighting was terrible. The rooms have mood lighting — Nice — but I need proper lighting so I can see to work! No light on the desk or even in the vicinity. Add a desk lamp and it would be much better.

My friend and I stayed over the weekend before Christmas at this hotel. I liked the comfortable beds and that they included a fridge and microwave in the room, also the current in the shower was very strong exactly the way I like it. But the room was a bit too small. Also the complimentary breakfast that we got was so small I can't understand why they call it a breakfast. I also loved their gym, it was spacious and had state of the art equipment. So overall my experience was not bad.

You couldn't ask for a hotel with a better location. It's far enough outside of the tourist chaos of Fifth Avenue but is still only a five minute walk from all of the action. There are lots of great food options near the hotel. The rooms are tiny and could use an update but they are at least clean. The staff are very nice and attentive. There aren't many SPG benefits here like there are at other locations, but this hotel is definitely worth a try!

Can't beat the location. The room was small, but clean and adequate. The staff was friendly. No real complaints other than pretty thin walls. Great stay, will be back!

Great location. Very uncomfortable bed linens and pillows. The hotel could also be taken care of a bit better in my opinion. Dishes sitting outside rooms for hours at a time in the hallway, common areas not attended regularly. Staff was attentive and helpful. Not much of a view but good price on Expedia for this location in the city.

Great hotel at very affordable price for a quick weekender trip. Staff are super nice. There was a huge bowl filled with granny smith apples at the lobby for guests to enjoy. Rooms are small but cozy and well equiped. We barely heard the neighbors. The mini bar and snacks drawer was very finely stocked. The bed was real comfortable.

Awful experience! Think twice before you make a reservation at the W New York. Apparently is not guarantee that you’re going to get your reserved room. About three weeks ago, I made a reservation and two days ago, I called to confirm my reservation. When I arrived today they told me that my reservation was canceled and they didn’t have any rooms available. They over booked their rooms and they decided to cancel several reservations without any previous communication. They didn’t care about helping me to find another hotel or anything else. No support at all. Very unpleasant experience, poor customer service and lack of professionalism. I will never use the W again and I will make sure to share my awful experience with others so they will not have to go through the same situation.

We had great service checking in with Edna and Liz at the front desk when we checked into hotel on friday. We had great service from the bar tenders at the lobby bar. The room was great, great hotel to stay in its the best part of town.

I was stuck on the elevator, and tried my card repeatedly. It didn’t work: I pushed the call for help repeatedly, and no one answered. I finally pushed the emergency alarm button, after I’d received no response. When I arrived at the lobby, I was treated by security like I was the problem. I called the front desk to complain about this treatment, and they could not have cared less. The last time we stayed here, they had to close an elevator because a guest had urinated in the elevator. We’d decided to try it once again. After this experience, we will never come back, and warn anyone expecting a good experience, to learn from our two bad experiences. Once is acceptable. Twice means there is a crappy hotel. ’

I travelled to New York for work and stayed at the W hotel for 10 days. I had non stop issues that I can't even put into writing but I must say if it weren't for the beautiful staff I would have definitely written a worse review. The location is perfect and even though I had non stop miscommunications and stress the staff were quick to make it right. I give a shout out to Micheal and Vincent who helped at the front desk and the kind and amazing spirit of Edna and John. The staff were like family in the end and did everything they can to make things right. I would stay here again purely because of them — hopefully though will be more smooth sailing this time coming :) Dani Swan.

Great service with excellent food at the restaurant. Very badly located restrooms necessitated a walk up several flights of stairs and negotiating a maze just to wash one's hands. Location is nearly unbeatable. Excellent locale with plenty of choices for every meal of the day.

Very convenient location because next to the Metro and line stop (connecting Manhattan with JFK Airport). Very small rooms.

Rooms are very small, staff is rude and unhelpful, housekeeping didn't pick up the trash in all the 6 days I stayed there, had problems with billing also. Very disappointed. Only 1 manager was helpful at the end of my trip after I complained for the 3rd time.

Great location. Well laid out room, very clean, and quiet. Make sure to take advantage of the great fitness center. A lot of weight machines and benches in addition to cardio equipment.

Very comfortable room with soft bed and great sized restroom. Could do with more wardrobe/clothing space especially as I had booked a queen sized room. Also no coffee/tea making facilities although I only know this as standard in the UK. Also price for breakfast ($40 per person) and room service is larger than I am comfortable with! Location is fantastic, central to Manhatten with easy access to subway and to all the sights around the island. Overall, competitively priced for the service and room I received.

Great hotel to stay in for a week's trip in New York. They have free coffee in the morning and fresh fruit infused water in the afternoon. Didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked nice. Really close to main attractions great location. Close to grand central.

Not worth the money. Stayed at the W in Miami can’t compare. The only thing they have going for them is location. EXTREMELY small and dirty rooms, very dark and beat up. Looks nothing like the picture's on their website. Service was absolutely TERRIBLE, never have we ever received such horrible service. Double charged us for parking (accidentally on purpose). If you valet your car be prepared to wait over an hour to take it out. Our car was brought out but the parking attendant disappeared with our keys. Will never stay at the W ever again and would never recommend it to anyone.

I stayed here for two days and two nights. Overall experience was better than expected. Location is perfect, rooms are clean and with everything you need. Rooms are maintained well. Staffs are polite and I never faced any problem here. (Sorry for bad English)

This hotel is great, the staff is helpful and friendly. Our bed is so comfortable and I love the shampoo and body wash from bliss for our shower, it smells fantastic. Overall I love this hotel and can't wait to try another W hotel on my next stay!

The location is great. Close to everything. Wi-Fi is only free for one day. Not cool.

Still at the hotel but trust me will not come back and will avoid this chain going fwd. The worst service so far, we had a prepaid rate which the only fx:ed last minute even if booked two months ago so lost 15% on ccy. Rude incompetent staff, takes 15mins to get a black coffee for cost of 9usd. Small beds, no proper upgrade even if celebrating bday, there isn't much I like so far.

The service here is impeccable and thorough! Everyone on staff is professional, pleasant, and attentive to guest needs/wants. Couldn't, ask for better experience. I also appreciated the level of security required to get into and around the hotel building. We felt very secure. The physical space is beautiful, modern, and clean. There were two stains on our carpet that I spotted while moving a chair. Though these were unsightly and should be taken care of, everything else was very cleanand, chic, and comfortable.

Recently went to the W hotel. I really like this hotel, the staff are friendly, helpful and professional. I was greeted when I entered the hotel. I sat by the bar and looked over the extensive bar menu. I toured some of the rooms. My favorite was the WOW suite. Great experience, I'll definitely be back.

Odd, small, and starting to show some age. This W hotel is well located, but the rooms are truly on the tight side compared to other NYC hotels. Walls are much thinner that other hotels — I listened to a woman in the room next of me argue with her long distance boyfriend about his lack of responsiveness, drive, and the fact that he just comes over to eat her moms cooking. Yes — I could hear all of this through my wall even when my TV was on. I eventually asked to move rooms, which thankfully occurred the next day. The rooms are starting to show their age, with peeling wallpaper, dirty/stained grout. There are some absolute oddities in the rooms, due to the size of them. In the first room, the bathroom door was a mini-door, so you had to jostle your body to enter it. The room itself was so narrow I could touch both sides of it at the same time. Yes. You read that correctly. In the second room, the toilet paper roll for the toilet was located underneath the sink. How you were supposed to reach it while sitting on the toilet is beyond me — perhaps if you're double jointed? I don't know, but it was only there because the bathroom was so small that there was nowhere else for the architect/room designer to hang it. I'm sure I'll go back to this hotel, but I now know to be very specific on my room request. Looking forward to seeing a remodel in the future.

If you have ever stayed at a W hotel expect an average experience. Nice hotel and great location. Rooms are small (150± sqft) but that's the standard for a new york hotel. You get free apples from the front desk so that's cool.

The treatment received by Evelyn Pazmino was spectacular. Attentive, friendly and very professional. Room beautiful and very comfortable.

How do I start that this is an awful hotel. Well they give away my room that was big and expensive one and told me we sold it, and give me 2 small rooms and refused to refund me the difference and lie about it. Then they charged my credit card someone else's food from the restaurant and room snacks. We waited 30 minutes for our room key to be resolve cause it wasn't working, and I had too call 4 times. Customer service at the desk are clueless, careless, and don't same to care about anything you tell them. Their was so many more problems at this hotel that I can continue, this was one of the worst W hotels I ever stayed don't come here, no will I recommend it.

The worth room I ever stayed in. Too small, a window that looks over a sort of back yard that looks like a rats hole. Management gives a shit and let's you feel like they are doing you a favor. Do not stay here. There are plenty of better and cheaper hotels in Manhattan. That war my first and last time here.

Excellent location in Manhattan. Fantastic hotel with lovely rooms, nice bar and good breakfast. Free coffee and mulled cider, which is a nice touch. Have stayed here before and would love to stay again.

Stayed in a suite. Walls were super dirty, bathroom was tiny, furnishings were cheap and sparse. Tiny bed too. Probably the worst W I've stated at.

The room was clean but it goes down hill from there. The room is very small (200 sq/ft), the air conditioner is noisy, the bed is barely a full size. The bath/ shower room is tiny. The bathroom is the shower room. I told the front desk 3 times that the shower was not draining and the kept telling me that they would send someone to take of it, but it never change. Had a corner room, so if I open my blinds, I would be looking into someone else s room & visa versa. Most uncomfortable. Disappointed for my first time ever visiting NY.

Location is the only good thing. Air conditioning is extremely noisy, the lighting in the room is insufficient, aand you can't turn around in the room without hiting a wall.

The hotel staff acts like it's a privilege to stay at the hotel. The front desk staff has been rude all 4 times I've stayed here. If it wasn't for work, I would have never came back after the first time. I will be trying the Marriott across the street and taking as many of my coworkers with me as I can. The Wi-Fi is unreliable, the rooms are small, they pay no attention to loyal Starwood customer (I'm a Platinum member). At one point, I had to use the Wi-Fi across the street, and the hotel staff said "it's your computer", yet other coworkers were having issues as well. The bathrooms are outdated. Last night I asked for assistance from the doorman to get me a taxi (since that's part of his job) and there was the slightest bit of rain, and he says "I need to get a rain coat". He just walked inside and stood there talking with a co-worker for at least 7-8 min. I decided to walk. I will not be back, and neither will half of my co-workers.

The best ever, can't wait to go back! Stayed here for honeymoon and the stay the staff were so friendly!

Very rude staff, booked on 3rd party website with a typo in first name, they refused to let me have the room even when hotwire called them to correct it, hotwire gave me a refund, hotel just gave me attitude, the big black dude at reception refused to give me his name, the bell guy hesitantly have me his supervisor name who talked to hotwire, Nerieyada, she should have handled this formality better, I was looking forward to staying here, instead wasted an hour and had to find a different hotel last minute, shame on you.

Breakfast was phenomenal. At the end of the day the bar was a great place to wind down. The rooms are smaller than a typical dorm too, but hey who doesn't want to pretend their in college again? Overall the location, amenities and staff were great, but the rooms are barley comfortable for 1.

I can't forget this hotel forever. Hotel that located in the center of manhattan and nice place to reach to everywhere too. It is cozy and modern to stay n enjoy. And also there are such a nice bar in the lobby.

As a loyal platinum spg member, I appreciate the staff here at this W as well as the hotel ammenities. I would like to say that upon check in Peter (who deserves spg employee of the year) went out of his way to accommodate me. Thanks again for making a frequent traveler feel like the W is my home away from home.

1) Room is dirty, stains on the toilet seat, 2) one wine glass (we booked for 2 people), 3) dirty ice cube box, 4) ice machine is not working, e 5) empty white wine bottle in the fridge. Yes they brought a full bottle, but that bottle was not chilled (hence trip to the ice machine — see 4) 6) gave my email address for the receipt, never received it (tried 3 times) 7) At check out the lady asks: how was everything? And never took a moment to hear me, she just kept going 8) ordered breakfast tp gp with latte and tea and received tea with milk and an OJ. Called about it, got latte not to go (stuff spilled on the plate) 9) the omelet to go was wrapped in newspaper-? 10) the omelet to go was so wet it leaked through the bag. 11) Want to hear more.

The robes, the first aid kit, the music CD, the huge suite, the delicious room service, the aromatic hair products. What luxury I had! This was a great birthday gift. If anyone has never stayed at the W, I would. Just do it — even if you think the cost is steep! I am serious. There will be no regrets and if there are a few others meeting up — it will be a good time — guaranteed! There is a classy, hip vibe yet professional and business people are most welcome and might be very happy with choosing this lap of luxury.

I the love W hotels and this one did not disappoint. From the excellent customer care at the time of booking to warm and inviting hotel staff upon arrival, my hotel stay exceeded expectations. The decor is everything you'd expect from a W, but this hotel's winning plus is having the Bliss spa inside the hotel with appointments as early as 8:00 AM. If you are a night owl, they have you covered. The Whiskey bar stays open late and will keep the party going. One down side, the restaurant isn't open on the weekends. I'm not sure why. But you can order room service 24 hours a day. Close to shopping on Park and Madison ave and walking distance from the Theatre District, this hotel has become my favorite W.

Beautiful rooms, great service. Very extensive. Recommendation: Steak House restaurant Heratbeat. A delight.
