The front desk was excellent and the breakfast great.

Simply disgusting; IHG should be ashamed of this place. First of all, the positives: nothing. There, that's done. And now the bad stuff: The shower tile and floor had black mold growing everywhere. The bathroom sink's faucet was so loose I could have pulled it out. There were pubic hairs on the toilet seat. The shower curtain rod had rust all over it. The metal shelf in the bathroom that held folded towels was filthy. The drop-down accessible handrail in the bathroom had gunk on it (we were given an accessible room). The sheets had holes in them. The wallpaper was peeling. The wall-mounted night stand in between the beds was about to fall off the wall. The carpet was so dirty our socks stunk like old, moldy cheese after about five minutes. We had to throw them away. Everything, from the furniture to the door handles felt greasy and dirty. Parking is ridiculous. You have to go to the check-in desk in the lobby, check in, get back in your car, drive through the Crown Plaza's lot next door to the side street, go around the corner, park in a garage, walk through the deserted Crown Plaza (complete with shady character), down a smelly hallway with filthy windows, back into the Holiday Inn's lobby, get your parking ticket validated, and then head up the lobby to your room. Who's the Einstein who came up with this? If it hadn't been midnight we would have just left. But we had been driving all day and we were exhausted.

The staff is AMAZING, I called them in a panic after a personal emergency, in the middle of the COVID-19 lockdown. They went above and beyond to accommodate me. The rooms are large, very clean, and the hotel overall is pretty quiet. I stayed for over a week and could not have asked for a better place during this time.

The parking garage isn't wheelchair accessible on certain levels, but there is no sign stating that so I was stuck on level 1a not able to go down to 1 which is where the lobby is. There was an elevator on level 2, but I couldn't get to that from 1a either. I ended up going down the car ramp (pictured) which nearly caused me to fall out of my chair. Then they wanted me to pay for the parking! … Absolutely NOT recommended if you are a wheelchair user.

Nice pleasant n customer service friendly. It was clean n floors shining.

The room was nice. The hotel was quiet. Service was good. Better breakfast than most hotels I've been at.

Great staff. Clean room. Fairly easy parking but a decent walk from the car to the room. All in all a good place to stay for a day or 2

Very nice hotel with comfortable bedding. They had a nice breakfast bar with fresh food. The room was clean and quiet with newer furniture. Nice workout facility.

The good: free breakfast, decent free shuttle, close to the station ($10 cab ride) for times when the shuttle isn't running. The bad: Minor-if you park, you have to walk down a long hallway and the Crowne Plaza to get to the Holiday Inn. When we got into our room at 9pm, we found that the main light between the beds wasn't working. We called the front desk. The person who came informed us that 1. He did not have the 4 way switch he needed to fix it. 2. He had already been called to this room for this issue today and 3. He called the front desk and they offered us an upgrade if we moved rooms. However, we had been walking around NYC all day, had left our home for the drive early in the morning and were tired. We asked if we could get a discount instead and the person at the desk relayed to the maintenance person thus would be possible and she would make a note. The next morning, there was no record of this, we were offered a menial discount and comped parking for getting a room which should never have been given out in the first place.

The room we were originally given had an air-conditioning unit that was too small for the room and even when maintainance replaced the air filter it still could not cool the room off. The second room had a small unit that cooled only half the living room down and a second unit in the bedroom. The bedroom's sensor was located directly under the vent so while the room was hot the unit didn't stay on long as it blew cool air onto it's sensor tricking it into thinking it reached the temperature and shut off. No other rooms were available. Also, heavy duty fire doors slammed very loudly. Potentially weather stripping or sound reducing wall coatings should be added to the hallways. Also, if choosing to have ac units that are too small for a room then windows should be made accessible for use and open.

I visited to meet a coworker who was staying there. It was hard to park there, but the facilities and staff were pleasant. I did not see the rooms.

This is the worst holiday inn I’ve even been too! I checked in Friday the 6th around 11 PM! (After a long day all I wanted to do was go up to my room to relax) We checked in with the concierge, then went up to the room my husband and I had gotten assigned too. We opened the door with the key that we were provided by the concierge and walked into a man that was FULLY BUTT NAKED in the hotel room. We were very confused so we apologized and had to go all the way back down to figure out what happened. We got to the concierge telling him how their was A FULLY GROWN BUTT NAKED MAN IN THE ROOM WE WERE PROVIDED, he did not even acknowledge how horrible and terrifying that was and DID NOT APOLOGIZE FOR THE HORRIFYING DISPLAY I shouldn’t have to be witnessing! I questioned him is it possible to place another person in a room that is currently booked! He mumbled and did not respond to my question! Worried for my safety I asked the concierge how can he guarantee me that he won’t give someone else the key to my room while I’m sleeping or while I’m taking a shower! He simply replied it won’t happened! He seemed so careless with the action that he took and gave a horrible customer service! I was so upset and traumatized that I just wanted to go lay down. He simply assigned us a new room ad gave us card for our room. The breakfast the next day was cold, the juice machine wasn’t working when specifically book the hotel cause it said breakfast included, the only good item there was the cereal!

Probably the only time an Holiday Inn will get 5 stars, but so well deserved. Great, great service from staff at this hotel. Sister hotel Crown Plaza, please take a note — HIE is basic yet the staff make it an exponentially nicer stay than CP!

Nice place, nice location.

Although the rooms were clean and comfortable, this hotel needs to do a thorough maintenance review of all the rooms. We had to change rooms to get a working safe to secure our valuables. The engineering staff couldn't repair or replace the safe in our original room. The manager took awhile to find us a room to move to because several room safes he tested worked. There also could be better communication and information sharing between the staff when issues come up like this. We received conflicting information before our issue was resolved by the manager.

I travel here for business at least 2 weeks a year. I'd recommend staying at the Crowne for a few bucks more. This room was noisy and I could clearly hear the next door neighbor's nightly conversations with his wife. Parking is a bit farther of a walk as well. Staff is nice. Breakfast is no frills and clean. Bedding is average. It's just not as comfortable as next door.

Not terribly hard to find, clean and comforting accommodations. Service was modest and pleasant.

The room was rather small. The complementary breakfast was not as varied as other holiday inns I have slept in before. And the sheets had some questionable stains.

You know what you will get, only occasionally have we been the slightest surprised, good price for the clean room and dependability and service.

Such a beautiful and peaceful hotel to stay at. The breakfast is delicious with a variety to chose from. 3 different types of sausage, 2 types of eggs, pancakes, oatmeal cereal cookies fruits, icecram snacks and several choices of drinks and so many more. The customer service is awesome, I totally recommend this place.

Will never stay at a holiday inn again. Parking is at the crown plaza hotel next door and costs $10 night. If you plan on in and out it charges by the hour. Watch out for the clearance in the parking garage. My truck hit the clearance bar and scratch my sunroof and paint. Being from the south where parking is not a common issue I was not aware of the exact hight of my truck. I did not park in the garage and the thieves at Holliday inn charged me for parking anyway. The free breakfast ends at 9:30am so get up early or miss it. The elevator inspection is expired, makes me wonder how the kitchen inspection is… The tub has some nasty film that in my opinion needs to be replaced and the drain is slow. I also don't prefer hotels with bathrooms so small you have to step over the toilet to getting the tub. Overall the hotel is run down and old feeling. The lobby is nice but how often are you actually in a hotel lobby? I will stay any where but a holiday inn during my next travels.

Clean hotel, decent complimentary breakfast, easy parking, good quality Wi-Fi. Staff was very accommodating to large family (25+) gatherings in the lobby. The hotel is a short walk from shops and restaurants and a short drive to other points of interest in Stamford.

The hotel and breakfast were fine. Staff was very nice. The only downside is parking is very far from the hotel and you have to walk through the Crowne Plaza Hotel to get to the Holiday Inn Express.

One of the nicest hotels I've stated at in recent years. The accommodations were outstanding (especially for the price paid), the hot breakfast buffet was delicious and the staff was exceptional. Highly recommend!

Large, clean, and nice room. Very comfortable bed. Modern decor. Thin walls though — you can hear everyone in the hallway. Nice breakfast spread.

We used our points to stay since we were visiting family in the area. We were upgraded to a suite. The room was clean. The only recommendation that I would have would be with the bed sheets. The sheets felt worn, and it would be nicer to have softer sheets. Lastly the water pressure to the 5th floor is not the greatest. Other than that everyone was nice and attentive.

Very mediocre. Nothing special, but really nothing bad about it either besides being able to hear absolutely everything everywhere else. I've just stayed in much nicer places for a lot less money.

Not sure of the competence of people there. I got to the hotel and showed that a Travel Website had a room next door for $111. A nice woman who was the director of both hotels said she could get me a better price if I went next door to the Holiday Inn and the rooms are identical. She said I could have the room for $109. I followed her down a long hallway away from the parking lot making it less convenient to go in and out with my car. Room was beautiful, BUT I got charged $125… I'm sure it was just the incompetence of the person at the desk. And Housekeeping had kindly left 3 DECAF keurigs in my room. Desperate in tthe morning for real coffee I called down for some NON decaf and the person brought up filters for a different kind of machine… he kindly went down again to find some caffeinated coffee in the right form. But I was left with a feeling of incompetence… but to be fair the room was large, clean, nice. Internet worked well too.

Great hotel. Confusing to get into with a large van (pay parking for cars), but it was very comfortable. Complimentary wine at night and great breakfast in the morning. Beds and room were fantastic.

Nice breakfast. Perfect balance of budjet and comfort. Best part was that they give u toothbrush, shaving cream etc. Worst was that there was less parking.

Hotel was OK nothing special. Walls seemed a little thin as I could clearly hear a phone conversation in the room next to mine. Fine for a quick stop no good for more than a night. We were just passing through town.

I got in around 2 AM, I found a clean bed and slept till 6 AM. Hot shower with good water flow. I made it over to where I needed to be for work by 8AM. This was a good stay for me.

Great experience. Good rooms. Fitness center was ok. Smalllll beds but great pillows. Staff was friendly. The shuttle to Stamford station however seemed to never be running. We wished it would operate longer hours. I would rebook again. I enjoyed it.

Worse experience ever, horrible beds and when I complained they did offer another room, one that was right outside the dumpster. Staff rude and could care less about you. Injured my knee on the pool ladder that was slimy from chlorine and had no safety pads on them and they did not even offer medical attention. Did not offer any compensation for the horrible experience, they did not care. I have stayed at many Holiday Inn and been fine, this one gives the company a bad name, worse experience and dangerous one, I am looking into sending them my medical bill for my knee that they did not care about.

Had a great nights sleep though we did have a late (1:00) check out due to arriving really late and according to the room attendant who came at just after 9 and again before 11 it was not relayed to her. Communication would have allowed a full rest. They were apologetic and very pleasant. I love the vallet option!

Poor staff. Will not work with you. I am a contractor my wife got to hotel 45 mins before me and had to wait to get in till I got there even after I call the hotel and the 800 #

Great room. The double beds are slightly small for two people. I liked the small kitchen area with sink, Kruege, and mini fridge.

When checking in the staff member at the desk was very confused with the process and when I asked about late check outs she told me not to do a late check out. I shouldn't be told what I should and shouldn't do and she would not budge on helping a guest. The room looked very nice but when I walked into the bathroom it was disgusting. The white tile floor had black shoe marks everywhere and the tub was yellow when it was supposed to be a white tub. There was hair all over the tub. The beds were so uncomfortable that I couldn't even sleep. They didn't even recognize that I was an IHG Rewards Club Member. I would like to get my money back. I was then contacted to call the hotel to speak to the hotel manager. The phone was answered by a receptionist (Carlye) to where I started explaining how I was contacted by a manager. She interrupted me and yelled at me saying "I can't hear you hold on. " So unprofessional.

Our room was not ready and the walls were very thin. The bed was comfortable though and the manager was understanding about our accommodations.

I really enjoyed the stay at this hotel! I had a small problem with my TV because of the snow storm and Olivia at the front desk took care of everything! Never had someone at the front desk like OLIVIA! She was able to help with a smile and excellence! I would definitely recommend my friends to stay at this hotel!

Good and very accommodative.

The desk clerk was cordial and very nice. The room has upgraded appliances. However, the parking fee is too expensive given the hotel is far away from the city center.

This place wasn't bad. It's pretty big and has a lot of potential. The rooms are large and nice. The breakfast is a joke. Nothing but juice and dounuts were out. Also, there is not parking in the area and the hotel charges $10 on top of the room rates for parking overnight. We lost our parking ticket and they charged us another $10 claiming the the parking was run by a third-party yet I got two $10 tranactions on my credit card statement from the "Stamford plaza hotel". Wouldn't stay there again until some major improvements are made.

We stay there this past weekend (Nov 2013) and there going under renovations. The rooms are really cheap due to the renovations ($229/nt for an exec suit w/ jacuzzi in room! ) but you get what you pay for. The bathroom door didn't have a door knob and they couldn't install one due to the door being "practically made of cardboard" there words not mine. We were given a discount of $200/night. The room was clean, huge, nicely arranged. Would stay there again if the price continues to stay right.

I have been staying at this hotel weekly since mid-August. I will be staying in Stamford on business M-F through at least Dec or Jan 2014. It is true the hotel lobby is currently undergoing renovation, however NOT ONCE did this interfere with my stay. In fact the work is being done after I have left for the day at 8am, and it is completed when I return at 5:30pm. Even on the occasions I worked remote via the Hotel's Wi-Fi via a secure connection in to my client company, I was undisturbed. The rooms have all been refurbished, and perhaps that is the reason for the harsh reviews prior to Aug 2013, but this simply is NOT the case now. MY stays have been uneventful. The Wifi is free and excellent, and I have stayed on both sides of the hotel. This hotel is well on it's way to becoming a Crowne Plaza but has some way to go. This hotel is less expensive than many of it's competition. In my opinion it is an excellent value for a basic hotel. If you are going to stay in the area for business or a few nights, you would be very hard pressed to find a cheaper hotel that is clean and comfortable and not infested with bed bugs and other things you don't want to bring home. The rooms have always been clean as has been the hotel. There are some very minor impacts while the lobby is finished, but they are very low on my radar. Do you care if you walk up to temporary counters to check in or out, or the finished new counter being built?

Currently undergoing renovations but need to renovate the staff. I informed the clerk at check-in I wanted to pay cash for my room as I only had a debit card on me. I offered to pay on checkin and was told to pay on checkout. A receipt was slipped under my door and the room was charged to my debit card which places a 5 day hold on held funds. The clerk denied the fact that she wouldn't accept my payment on check-in. She also handed me 4 keys because she didn't know which worked. Was told refrig would be available and when checked in told of $25 charge. At checkin informed of continental breakfast and when we went were then told of charge for that as well. Food service not avail. On Sunday. Members of our group asked where they could get soda and water and were told to go to the Holiday Inn next store. Told the front desk Sat. Night of food spilled and smeared on floor by elevator, told the manager on Sun. At 10:45 AM and at checkout told manager again that someone was going to fall on food, only response is "ok. " The customer is always wrong was the impression the staff gave and they continuously lied about what they had previously said. Most upsetting was when 2 children entered their room and found a woman who claimed to be "security" Seems there is no woman security, it was a housekeeper who was off duty that entered the room to do what? We did not feel safe, appreciated or cared for. The worst overall experience that a guest could have.

Nice large clean rooms. Delicious food. Omellete used fresh spinach whole leaves, not frozen or chopped. Perfectly folded. Hash browns were very crispy and delicious. Free OJ refills. Ate it all up. No fan in bathrrom — bad. Room had a glow bracelet on floor probably from last tenent — bad.

Right when we pulled up to the curb we experienced friendly and courteous service, as the staff helped us with our luggage. Checking in was a breeze and we immediately were shown to a room that had undergone a complete renovation recently. We found the room to be very tastefully decorated, exceedingly clean and very comfortable. The staff at the hotel went out of there way to please us even when we called them at a very late hour to bring up additional towels. We enjoyed the food and the bar there with once again wonderful wait staff. Every staff member that we met was polite and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
