Good thing I did not put my hand behind the bed to find an outlet. The mouse trap might have gotten me. This is the most horrendous hotel I have ever stayed in. Mold, mildew and mice.

Super nice rooms and competitively priced… placing them at the top of our list when we book the next trip.

We stayed at this BEAUTIFUL hotel for about a week when we were recently in Annapolis for our wedding! We had a truly wonderful experience! Our room had a gorgeous view of the Maryland State House and was VERY spacious! It was beautifully decorated as was the entire hotel! The staff was very friendly and INCREDIBLY helpful! We have decided to make Governor Calvert House our preferred hotel for all of our future stays in Annapolis! b.

The room was great, and the location is fantastic — walkable to plenty of places, and just across the bridge (walkable, but you can Uber) to others. We enjoyed the restaurant and the bar… the bartender was a longterm employee and was fantastic. The hotel staff was also very helpful. I'd definitely go back!

Very cool and charismatic place. Nice mix of history "exhibits" and good working venue. Staff was friendly and smiling. Great historic atmosphere without the old stuffy feeling that you get with other places like this.

We stayed in the Governor Calvert House for one night, on the third floor, in a newly-renovated suite. It was beautiful. The room was very large (King-size bed) with lots of extra room on each side. Having central air in August was amazing, so make sure you request a room that has it. Also, be sure to visit the excavated greenhouse on the lobby level. Absolutely amazing. The only drawbacks I would mention were the lack of a fan in the bathroom (for obvious reasons, along with the excess moisture/humidity when showering) along with the near-constant horn blaring from the valet service on the street below (though that wasn't the case during the night — — just during the day). Overall, it was stellar, especially because it overlooked the State Capitol building. The location really can’t be any better. Highly recommended!

We booked a romance package on a Saturday night and it was a great deal. The staff were excellent — from the front desk, to the valet, to the bartender Peanut. We had stayed at the Calvert House a few years ago and the refurbished rooms are so much better. The bathroom is on the small side and the a/c was loud but everything else was great. This as such a better value than the overpriced Marriott (and I’m a rewards member) and the nearby Loews.

Nice room! Great customer service! Perfect location. Walking distance into town. Great place to stay for pub crawls. I would definitely recommend staying here. Their superb customer service will keep me coming back!

5 minute walk from everywhere. Staff was amazing. The hotel and room was beautiful. The valet parking was definitely a plus considering how bad the parking situation in Annapolis is. Would highly recommend.

I am staying at the Calvert House and was planning on being here for 4 days. I came back to my room and it is has not been cleaned. Went to the front desk and they say the room will not be cleaned until as late as 5. This is ridiculous.

Short: Room not ready at check-in. Misplaced bag. Room not cleaned/bed not made as of 11pm. Bathtub didn't drain. Valet service took over an hour. Awful experience overall Long: Check-in was at 3, we showed up at 4 and the room wasn't ready so we left one of our bags and headed to a wedding. When we got back around 11pm, there was no bedding on the bed, just a mattress, and our bag wasn't in the room. We called the front desk to let them know and then headed out to an after-party. When we got back around 12:30 there was still no bag, but they were at least in the process of putting on the bedding. The bag finally got to our room around 1am. We took showers and discovered that the bathtub wouldn't drain (or drained incredibly slowly). In the morning we called down for valet service to bring the car. They quoted us 20 minutes, so we went down 15 minutes later. At 30 minutes, I called the front desk again. They said they never received our initial call (? ) and would get our car as soon as they could. This wasn't unique, the lobby was full of people who had been waiting the better part of an hour for their car. 70 minutes after the first call, our car showed up and we headed home. I would definitely never recommend staying here.

Our 2017 Stay! I am very poor when it comes to writing reviews, but I wanted to share the great experience we had with this hotel and their staff. We had our one year old with us at the time, and they saw this and decided to move us to a more spacious room to help with space. Lawrence was specifically amazing and was very helpful on several different occasions. The location is perfect for getting around Annapolis and the parking was easy. The room was great and we would definitely recommended this Inn if you are travelling in the Annapolis area.

BRIDES AND ANY ONE SEEKING EXCELLENT SERVICE AND COMMUNICATION BEWARE OF THE CALVERT HOUSE! Let me start by saying that the actual location and venue are beautiful. But that is as positive as I can be in this review. I booked this venue in January of 2017. Between January 2017 and May of 2018, I had to work with, meet with, and juggle THREE different coordinators as each would just randomly quit. The even bigger issue is the Calvert House’s lack of communication — — how did I find out each coordinator left? I was met with radio silence for WEEKS at a time until I finally was able to reach someone who would nonchalantly inform me that that coordinator had left “a few weeks ago” like it was no big deal. Communication was an absolute NIGHTMARE! Not only could I never get in touch with anyone to answer basic and time sensitive questions, but one coordinator would tell me one thing and the next representative would tell me something completely different. It took over seven days to get in contact with the Calvert House the TWO WEEKS before my wedding — — when I did hear back, yet again, there were contradictions and major issues. Just three days before the wedding, I had to hire and pay for a “day of planner” from an outside company because I was so terrified by the lack of communication and lack of promised services. Our bills were overcharged and did not match the contract at all.

Was here for a wedding reception. Fantastic venue, delicious foid, and very gracious staff… but parking was a nightmare. If you're planning an event here, provide a Xanax for your guests when they get there to calm their nerves after dealing with parking in downtown Annapolis.

Great location to stay while visiting Annapolis. Short walk to everything. Rooms were nice and the series ve was good. If you valet, please make sure you give plenty of notice for them to return your car.

Exceptional service from the Front Office Manager, Kevin Chenosky. He went above and beyond to correct an unfortunate glitch made by our booking site regarding our room reservation. His efforts really made our trip to Annapolis a memorable experience and we look forward to staying at this beautiful and historic hotel again. Thank you, Kevin!

Nice place. My friend had a wedding. There, and the organization of hotel was very bad. My friend payed for wallet parking for entire wedding, and he hand only a few cars parked. Good luck with having good party there.

The Historic Inns are historically beautiful to have a wedding in. I love photographing weddings there because the venue is so unique. Definitely a iconic place to be married or have your reception.

We had a great experience at this hotel. The location was very convenient, and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The rooms were lovely, spacious, and comfortable. We had no issues with any noise, even though there was a wedding reception there one night. The staff at reception were very friendly.

The staff is beyond helpful and considerate. I was able to check-in at 630 am after arriving on a redeye. The rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. Perhaps the best hotel pillows I've had in years. Will definitely stay again.

Very cool and historic Inn located in a great part of historic Annapolis. It’s not super fancy but the history and the charm more than make up for it. The bed was comfy the room was clean and you can’t beat the location. Lots of great dining and shopping within walking distance.

When arriving at the hotel, I attempted to valet my vehicle. Since I was staying at the Maryland Inn. I was told by the attendant to drive my car and he would meet me there. I asked for directions which he was unable to provide so I said I would just use my phone. I parked in the loading zone which is apparently in the back of the hotel (next to a large hotel sign, my first visit so I had no knowledge of the hotel), but decided to wait in the lobby since it didn't appear anyone was around. I waited for at least 15 minutes in the front lobby of the hotel. I called back to the front desk, where they said the attendant "Charlie" had been waiting for 20 minutes, apparently outside somewhere on the street, where there is obviously no place to park a car. They told me to wait again, I waited another 30 minutes in the lobby looking for any sign of an attendant and no one showed up. I again call the front desk where a clerk named "MK" told me it's not their policy for me to drive to the hotel spot and I would have to drive back to the main building where they would drive me back to the building I'm staying. I asked to speak to a manager and they put me on hold for 10 minutes where the other clerk "Lawrence" picked up. He again told me how it's not their policy even though I told him that is what I was told to do. He again put the full blame on me and never once apologized for the terrible service.

I’d like to state here and now…that this is the most wonderful hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in on the East Coast. I want to give a special nod to Lawrence and Kevin from the front desk. When we arrived, we were completely exhausted from the Thanksgiving holiday traffic and our nerves could not have been more shot. Lawrence knew exactly what to do even before we arrived. He got on the phone and guided us to the Governor Calvert House to check in and promised that he would do everything he could “to make the rest of our trip seamless. ” Kevin took the time to notice our online reservation (from Priceline) had been fouled up and upgraded our room to one even better than we had originally reserved. He even provided some complimentary drink coupons for us to calm our nerves! “You two have nothing to worry about for the rest of your stay here” Lawrence said and he could not have been more right. From the car valet to Lawrence personally bringing us champagne glasses, from 2 blocks away no less, this was service at its best. Is there an employee recognition program? There should be, starting with Lawrence and Kevin. The whole staff was truly professional. It is so rare to find this level of service and grace in a staff. They outshine any “luxury hotel” in Washington, New York or elsewhere. Give them a raise! As for the Maryland Inn itself? It is beauty, elegance, history and most of all charm and character.

Lovely place with a great atmosphere! Staff were friendly and the price was perfect for the central location. Easy walk to the waterfront, shops, local food, and fun nightlife. Beds were comfy and the rooms clean. If you like to walk historical cities, THIS IS THE PLACE! Check out the State House and don’t pass by the waterfront without sipping some Jamaican Tea!

Could not have asked for anything better! The locations downtown are perfect. The rooms are wonderful. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Will definitely be staying again.

The inns are all close together, and the amenities are great. The elevators are a bit dodgy, but the event spaces make up for it. Right across the street from the statehouse, where they provide tours. It was all very worthwhile.

Our stay at the Calvert House exceeded expectations. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very large and roomy. Did not feel cramp like a regular B&B bedroom. The location is two blocks from Main Street away from the tourist congestion. Parking is a little bit of a challenge but that is true for all of historic Annapolis.

I stayed at the Governor Calvert House, which is one of three historic inns. The rooms were nice and the staff was very friendly. The location was great, across the street from the state house and easy walking to many shops and restaurants.

Looking for an amazing wedding venue? Look no further. We held our wedding reception here last Saturday and could not have been happier. The venue itself is beautiful and the staff is fantastic. Laura, the wedding coordinator, was always available to answer any questions, and Cruz, the food and beverage coordinator, was extremely helpful the day of. Both coordinators made sure everything was perfect. All of our guests commented how good the food was and how awesome the venue was. Our only complaint was how hot the atrium got. It was a June wedding and the doors to the patio were kept open so it made the dance floor super sweaty. Made for some hilarious pictures but our older guest passed on the dancing due to the heat.

DO NOT STAY HERE! My daughter stayed at the Maryland Inn one night this past Friday, 2/18/17. She spent the day away from the hotel visiting someone the following day. When she returned to check out and pack up her belongings, she noticed that something she left on a high shelf in the bathroom was missing. At first she thought she misplaced it so she checked out and looked for it again. She contacted the hotel and they said they went to the room to look but there were new occupants. The ONLY person who was in my daughter's room before she checked out was housekeeping. I spoke to the manager just a few minutes ago who was rude before I even had a chance to say hello. I couldn't hear him and he couldn't hear me at first and he wasn't nice. They are not taking responsibility for this nor did they ever apologize for one of their employees stealing from a guest. The manager at the Maryland Inn was very rude and can't be bothered. This room is extremely tiny so even if someone came in while housekeeping was cleaning, there is no way they could have taken anything. This is unfortunate that guests are treated with little or no respect when something like this happens.

A few weeks ago my family and I stayed here for a wedding. When leaving we forgot three items of clothing in the closet. After several calls to the hotel they still refuse to return my items. The management obviously doesn't care in the least. I definitely will not be returning!

The rooms are well appointed. Free Wi-Fi. I was able to stream HBO Go without any problems. The historic building is a refreshing change from the utilitarian feeling of a large hotel. The hotel is noisy while the bar is open. There are many restaurants and shops close by as well as the US Naval Academy.

Beautiful hotel. Beautiful location. Be wary if the driving and parking situation. No one's fault. Just an old, old location. Front desk staff was helpful, but very condescending. He could have worked quicker if he didn't stop to explain everything as if I've never stayed at a hotel before. However, this was just one person. Everything else is great.

Such a nice hotel. Very clean. For being a historic building, the insulation must be great because I haven't heard anything from the floors above me. The front desk staff is super helpful. One person gave me recommendations for places to eat.

Nice place. Great staff. Rooms clean and well kept. Ours had windows opening onto an indoor courtyard. As a consequence it was a bit dark. That would be my only complaint. A nice place overall, in a great location.

We liked it. Close proximity to everything! Our first room was 85 degrees when we walked in, they quickly moved us. The hotel has big tall ceilings, so it never gets super cold in the room, but we finally settled on a comfortable 74. The staff was really nice, the rooms very clean and comfortable.

The Inns are in an amazing area of downtown within walking distance of all major areas. The room was very nicely furnished at a very reasonable price. I'd definitely stay there again and would recommend to others.

Nice place to stay, is possibly haunted (although I saw no evidence). Kind of fun to stay here too, because of the history of the building. Our room was really nice and the bed was really comfortable. Our friends had a wedding here, which went well. The breakfast in the morning is pretty limited. I would stay again, because I enjoyed the ambiance and the room itself.

Stated in the Robert Johnson House. Service was great, room was recently renovated and very comfortable although the view wasn't the best (your mileage may very). The shower pressure was excellent although my biggest concern with the room was how loud the HVAC vent was… It was either a hurricane of air which made the TV impossible to listen to or nothing at all… All in all not too big of an issue. You couldn't pick a better location as everything really is walking distance away. Opted out of valet parking and used the Noah Hillman garage around the corner with no issues.

Historic inn of Annapolis is a very nice place to stay in downtown Annapolis. The building have a lot of charm and the room we stayed in was fairly large with a comfortable bed. Definitely recommend staying here when in Annapolis.

Attended a beautiful wedding there. Beautiful location with a narrow but long courtyard area that has plenty of shade. A good size venue for events with less than 200 people. It's also walking distance to the downtown area.

This was a great stay for us! We loved the location, within walking distance of all points of interest and best of all our accommodations were special. We had a corner room so the view was incredible, the period furnishings beautiful and comfortable!

Great location and the price was reasonable. About $109 a night. We were in Annapolis for a wedding and I can't imagine a more ideal location than where the Robert Johnson is. It was convenient to everything. You are just a few steps from Main St. Where all the shops and restaurants are. Nearby are the Naval Academy and the waterfront area. It is right on State Circle which is very picturesque but also quiet because the street isn't very large. The room was smaller than in a modern hotel but adequate. The bathroom was very narrow. One more mirror would have been nice as well. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. They have free Wi-Fi but we didn't check it out. Robert Johnson House is run by Historic Inns of Annapolis which has 2 other inns as well. One downside is that there is no lobby at Robert Johnson and you have to check in at the Governor Calvert House on the other side of State Circle. It is not that inconvenient. Just pull up at Governor Calvert, go in and get checked in, then hop back in the car and go round the circle and unload at Robert Johnson. I am not sure about the week but on the weekend there is a garage about 4 blocks away where you can park for free. Everything is so close that we didn't need the car all weekend so it was perfect. The other option is valet parking for $20 a day.
