Reviews of Motel 6-Tallahassee, FL - Downtown 2*
I'll be honest we were a little skeptical when we pulled in to stay at this Motel after reading some of the reviews. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the room though. The room was clean, it had been updated with new floors and paint, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. The location is convenient, and we would stay there again. The bed was comfortable, but the reason I didn't give five stars was because the rest of the furniture could stand to be updated. Other than that it was exactly what we needed.
First of all the place is kept very clean and orderly. When one needs anything there right there for you. And extra as well. The staff are friendly and helpful especially thank Ms Kateria at the front desk for being so helpful. And caring. All in all the motel 6 is a great place to rest.
I have stayed at Motel Six a good number of times in the pass. Motel Six offers me confront and good service at a very reasonable price. Kateria is a member of a very competent and helpful stuff. At this attractive and remodel convenient location. I would highly recommend Motel Six to anyone.
The Tallahassee Motel 6 Downtown has the best staff I have seen and experienced of any motel or hotel in the last two years. Not only is the staff very, very hardworking, but they also go out of their way to make your stay with them a very positive, enjoyable memorable experience. From the manager to the front desk staff to the housekeeping personnel, the staff is just simply outstanding. I recommend the Downtown Tallahassee Motel 6 very highly. The service is excellent. The swimming pool is gorgeous. There is a well-maintained guest laundry on the premises; well-stocked vending machines, and an outstanding location. This is just a wonderful place to stay in Florida's capitol city. Don't miss it.
I had already driven 5 hours to get there and was too tired to complain last night as I needed sleep. I had overheard the front desk tell someone else they were full. One of the 2 people working the front desk was too concerned with playing on an iPad instead of paying attention to the line. I had to wait almost 20 min to check in. There were cobwebs in the corner by the front door that were filled with dead bugs. There was a tissue stuffed in the peep hole. The sink did not drain. There was a chip out of the bathroom door and tape on the back of it. There was mold in the tub. The light behind one of the beds did not work and when you flipped the switch, you heard a crackling sound. They placed me in a room by the pool, which was loud and rowdy until after 11pm. I got a prank call at 230am saying there was a power surge and they lost all my information and once they verified my personal information I could go back to sleep. I hung up and called the front desk and they didn't seem too concerned or apologetic about it or tell me they would handle the situation. 30 min after the phone call, there were a male and female fighting very loudly for almost 30 minutes. Upon taking my shower this morning there was hardly any water pressure. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a motel. I got little to no sleep last night and am very dissatisfied with this establishment and the staff.
Super nice staff! Quiet and close to restaurants, grocery stores, and more. Our cat/dog likes it here as well. One of the best Motel 6’s we’ve stayed at. Studio rooms are available too!
Clean. Sounded the fire alarm every time by fault.
Terrible. We called many times before arriving to let the front desk know we would not be arriving until later in the day and no one picked up. Upon arrival, they had given away our room to someone else. Keep in mind this was during my sons graduation so I had booked this room a year in advance. They had an issue with my credit card (it expired) and instead of calling me to let me know the situation, so I can give them the new credit card information, they just sold the room to someone else. It gets worse, the manager tells us he can fit us in a different room. We arrive to the room with the key, open the door and someone is in the room we just paid for! The customer obviously confused comes up the door startled looking crazy and we were terrified. God forbid they pull out a gun! Why wouldn’t he? Someone else had access to their hotel rooms door! Then, we go back to explain what happens and he says “I guess the afternoon staff didn’t correctly check everyone in because they had to floating room” … then he tells us we can come back the next day for a discount! After all this I would expect more than a discount.
The shower did not work. The floors were filthy. The cleaning crew must use the same mop without rinsing it. I can't believe you charge that much for this low quality motel. If there had been another room available at any other hotel we would have moved. But it was graduation weekend. I guess that is why you don't care about quality. People HAVE to stay there.
Professional and friendly staff. I was placed in a nice clean room with a very comfortable bed. Very convenient location for shopping, sightseeing, dining and hanging out for a night on the town. The staff at the Motel 6 gave excellent service thruout my stay here. Thanks Motel 6 will recommend in the future.
It's a decent place in a very convenient location, especially for the price. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. My only complaint, which I forgot to mention to the front desk when I checked out, was that there was no hot water in the bathroom sink (Room 210). I did wish there was a coffeemaker or microwave in the room, so I could make my morning tea. I hate going to a hotel lobby when I've just rolled out of bed! I ended up making some weak, tepid tea with the hottest hot water I could get out of the tub faucet. A mini-fridge would be nice, too, although I had a small cooler that I refilled with ice from the ice machine so that was OK.
Just spend one night, to spend a night is a right place, unfortunately it does not include breakfast. The room was nice and conditioned upon arrival.
Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Staff was very helpful and kind. However the room was infested with German roaches. The management told me they would refund me half my costs.
The room they put us in was nice accept that there were roaches I told the manager and they said they would move us rooms but the only room on the day was an upstairs room and I have a handicap daughter so that wouldn't work. They told us to just stay in the room we were in until they found us a room, with 1 more night to stay we still have not been moved.
Compliments to the hiring manager of this location. EVERYONE was really nice, professional and courteous. Props to LaTeschia (spelling? ). I had a couple minor issues with room and she was quick and courteous to respond and resolve my issues. One issue involved Maintenance; that guy was great as well. He quickly addressed my issue even though I think he was already clocked out…
After reading some of the comments on this motel I almost decided not to risk it but I figured if it is as bad as some said it was then I'd just leave but… The room looked quite sparse … one small table and a chair… both wooden and a huge King Sized bed which was very comfortable. Great pillows and clean sheets … everyday. A bureau with a wall hung wide screen TV completed the furnishings. Perhaps an upholstered easy chair would help break up all that visible square footage. Things were clean and the cleaning staff made certain it was for my entire 3 day stay with my two small dogs. The bath linens were changed everyday and though they weren't very plush they were very clean. The shower was hot and continuous. The staff at the desk were helpful and polite and went out of their way to help me find another room for a one night stay near Port Richey where I was visiting my sister. All in all a not unpleasant experience… things were quiet and I felt completely at ease walking the pups no matter when I took them out. There's lots of restaurants nearby, both fast food and sit down … all within 2 stoplights on the same road as the motel. It's not the Ritz folks but for the money I think it's top notch … especially considering it's a pet friendly Motel.
The staff was wonderful. Very accommodating. One day I had an accident falling, and hurting my nose. They were right on the spot to help me, and to clean up my mess. Plus they were always friendly and willing to help me in any way I needed. I would say though, the walls were paper thin. I could hear people above me and on both sides of me talking in normal voices. Sometimes that made it difficult to sleep. That is the building. The people were fantastic. Highly recommended.
My experience at Motel 6 was amazing. I arrived at the hotel pretty late. And the young lady at the front desk was very polite and assisted right away. I will be staying here again if I’m in the area.
Checking in was nice. The location was great. The actual rooms were not. In room 221 the light didn’t work over the bathroom sink, there were hairs in the tub, used soap in the tub, and the plug was broken in the tub. There were bugs next to the refrigerator. There was something smeared on the wall next to the bed. Beer bottle caps under the bed. Something was spilled and never cleaned up next to the dresser. The “non smoking” room was obviously smoked in. It was not a good experience.
Staff were super friendly and accommodating. Not too far from downtown. Room was nice and clean on arrival. Only downside really is that there were some small bugs running around the floor sometimes. Otherwise a positive experience for the money.
The room was dirty. When I was was showering there was dust falling on me from the vent in the ceiling. The room smelled like mildew. The bedding had burn holes in it. The linen was very scratchy and uncomfortable. The mattress was horrible and has to be 20+ years old. It was advertised as “newly renovated” but basically just put lipstick on a pig. We were only given two pillows for a king size bed so neither of us could move our necks when we woke up. The lights flickered all the time. Never stayed somewhere that didn’t have a mini fridge in the room. Not happy that a continental breakfast wasn’t offered either. The staff at the front desk was rude and talked on her cell phone the entire time she checked me in and didn’t bother to tell me where my room was so I just had to drive around the building until I found it. It was EXTREMELY over priced for what it is. So disappointed. Will NEVER stay at a motel 6 again and most certainly will NEVER recommend to any family or friends. I travel to a lot of cities for away games for college football and I have never had such a horrible experience at a hotel in my life.
I used to patronize your facility every opportunity I got during the FSU football season. When you doubled your prices I could not justify staying there. You don't have $100+ rooms. Your staff was great, providing friendly & efficient service. I drive down 9 hours for every home game. I like to stay in a hotel room for the privacy but unless your facility upgrades or you offer me a room at regular prices, I'll have to continue staying with a friend. Thanks for this opportunity to share my views.
Staff at front office were friendly & outgoing. They did everything to assure we as guest had everything we needed. Much appreciated. Cleaning staff did a excellent job in making sure our rooms were clean.
Stayed at 4 different motel 6 from my journey driving California to Fort Lauderdale, the Tallahassee motel 6 was the best by far. Clean inside, nice colors, felt safe, lots of parking, good location. Friendly staff… of the 4 this is the only one I would recommend as the others on a scale of 1 to 10 did not even register a 5… plus you had great pricing. If you want a budget motel this would be the standard in the 40 to 50 dollar range.
Typically I do not stay at Motel 6's. For the level of hotel, the hotel was overpriced; but, all hotels in Tallahassee during football weekends tend to overcharge because they can. So I do not fault your hotel for following the trend. I feel this is part of a bigger issue to take advantage of visitors during high demand. I was surprised at the cleanliness of the unit. The bathroom, towels and floor were clean. I like the wood floors and believe they help in keeping odors out (rather than the older carpets). The table in the room is a nice addition; but, I am at a loss why there is only 1 chair in the room. At minimum there should be two to allow two people to sit down for a bite to eat. The soaps provided were rather small for the bath. I did not notice a hair dryer. Luckily I did bring my own. I understand the need for safety for your staff and the requirement for outside window check in late at night. We checked in around 9:15pm and seemed odd to have to check in outside at that early hour. Made me think I was not at a safe hotel.
The stay started off well with my reservation being honored, but the room was so humid there was black mold in the cabinets and drawers, there was no place to hang clothes. The AC cooled, but didn't dry the air. Then your reservation system broke so I couldn't extend my stay at your front desk. So I went on line and made a reservation just like my prior reservation. Nut when it came time to continue my stay, I was told they had put me in an upgrade (studio) without telling me, (plus there were no rate charts posted in the room so I couldn't have known), and I was going to have to move. I had my work computers set up and 16 cartons of belongings so moving was going to be a major deal, cutting into my consultant work time. When I called and told them that I had received an all-clear to return to my home in So Florida so they could have the room by 3 PM, they told me I would have to pay for an extra day because I had been rude. I had not talked to anybody, so my guess is that the staff person had gone to a wrong room, told some unsuspecting people that they were going to have to move, and so had received a to be expected negative response. All this because your system was down, despite me trying to work things out as best I could. Finished totally unsatisfied. I would only suggest Motel 6 if the person was, like me, an storm evacuee with very limited options (money was not an issue. )
Well for starters there's no there was no vending machine no Coke machine it was down because it's some fire. Then after I got in the room I had to go fetch my own towel my own garbage can and then not took me about 3 hours to get that. Then the next day my friend was going to keep the room and went up there and talk to the supervisor and she was very very rude to him barrier design and told him that the next time he didn't get out of the room that she was going to call the cops when all he was doing was trying to hold the room for at least that 10 minutes over to check out time. That was my third stay there and I have had nothing but trouble but I will say the staff at the front desk they were very very nice and very helpful in whatever I needed. I would like at least one free night for all my headache that I've had there since I've been staying. I would recommend it to my friends if my time there was made up. Thank you and have a blessed day!
There was only one front desk clerk so the wait was long. My time was already running tight knowing I needed to get in my room and shower and get ready for my wedding reception. My husband and I was an hour late. I was given a room that was already occupied so I had to wait a little longer. Once I checked in there was three towels… one washcloth, towel and hand towel, half a roll of toilet paper, and one small bar of soap. Mold on the ceiling in bathroom as well. My husband almost slipped and fell when he walked into the slimy water from the ac unit outside the room. After all of this we didn't feel comfortable that we were sleeping on clean linen. I feel the room has great potential but unfortunately for us we didn't experience that.
When I first got there I ended up standing at the front desk for 20 minutes because the staff wouldn't see me until they finished their shift change. Kinda rude but whatever. I showed up to check in 20 minutes late already so we are pushing near 40 minutes passing when they finally decide to tell me that they did not have any rooms ready for me. We ended up having to take a smoking room when we asked for a min smoking room and it smelled awful. The beds were very firm and when you got into the blankets I found them to have a musty feeling to them. Other than that the hotel was alright. If you just want a quick stay it is good for Its money but I would recommend trying the other motel 6 in Tallahassee. Not the one on apalachee parkway.
My daughter and I visited several motels over the course of two weeks while on a road trip. This motel was by far the worst experience we encountered on our trip! When I opened the room door I could smell mold. We arrived late and were tired. I noticed mold in the toilet and that the floor had dirt on it and build up in the corners. I also found hair in the bath tub. When looking for a sign for check out times, I found a bag of moldy tortilla shells in a drawer with bugs. That was the smell I encountered when I first entered the room. I quickly threw out the food and the room smelled much better. We were afraid of the cleanliness and checked the bed for bugs, and fortunately found no bed bugs. In the morning when we went to check out, I could not even speak to the front desk clerk as she was on the phone with a disgruntled customer who was seeking immediate help for someone to clean something in her room. We left without even getting a chance to voice what we went through. I would not recommend this motel to anyone, as it appeared that the room had not been cleaned in quite some time!
Be careful here. I've stayed at many motels, (and usually Motel 6 works our perfectly, but I'll be weary in the future. ) We arrived and checked into our room. When we opened the door there were a bunch of bugs that scattered when we turned the light on. We killed the ones that we could (8). When we pulled down the blankets, the linens had a large brown smudge on the sheets. In the bathroom, there was toilet paper on the floor, and the toilet bowl had clearly not been cleaned (use your imagination here…) The front desk agent was very nice, and asked that we give them another chance, which we did willingly. They gave us a second room. When we opened the door to the room, the beds had clearly been slept in and housekeeping had not been in (blankets and a couple of pillows on the floor. ) We didn't do any more investigating. We asked for our refund and was told that it would take 5-7 days for the refund to be credited to the card. I'm not a particularly picky person, but there was too much to overlook here — even for the price.
I was pleased with the speed of the reservation. The check-in was fast and efficient and the room was clean, well lit and cool. My stay was flawless and in line with my speedy schedule. I would not only stay there again, but would recommend it.
I want to preface this by saying this was a last minute reservation. The check in was smooth, no problems. I was a bit disappointed with the room. There was no refrigerator, coffee machine, or blow dryer. These are common place items in most every motel these days. The bathroom door was broken and did not close all the way. The toilet bowl was disgusting. I don't know if it was just dirty or hard water stains. There were no toiletries. I didn't bring my large bottles because there are usually travel sizes at the motel. There were no washcloths and no extra pillows or blankets. There was dried blood on the side of the nightstand and cigarette burn holes in the bedspread. There were people milling around making noise in the parking lot all night and others running up and down the walkway outside our room until after 2AM. The next morning we went to the office to request that no one clean the room because of our dog. We were told we could not leave the dog in our room. Unattended or unsecured. My dog weighs 100lbs. I wasn't shutting him up in the tiny bathroom. And there really wasn't anything in the room he could damage. What's the point of being pet friendly if I can't leave my pet in the room? I guess you get what you pay for. I should have known better to stay when there was a Leon County Sheriff's Deputy in the parking lot when we checked in.
Room was clean and modern, and the location was very convenient. However, the low price is achieved at the cost of various little things: no fridge, no microwave, no coffee maker, no iron or board. You have to buy Wi-Fi for $3 a day. The strangest thing: they won't give you a 'Do Not Disturb' sign. How does that save money?
The property manager was nice, and the service from all of the staff was excellent. The location is safe and it is next to a plaza with a lot of services. However, the first two nights we paid an extra $20 per night for a room with a kitchenette but the room did not come with any pans or pots so we were not able to use the kitchenette. The wall behind the burners had grease and food splatter, it looked like it had never been cleaned. The drawers had dead bugs inside of them. The floor was filthy, also as if had not been cleaned and there were also more than a few dead bugs on it. We saw a small roach crawling around the room. The toilets in this hotel are painted over but the chips make it look like they are severely dirty. The bathroom door was dirty and had a booger stuck to it. We checked out of the first room and into a new room, the new room looked a little cleaner but it smelled like bleach. I thought because it smelled like they mopped the floor with bleach the floor would be clean but it was still super dirty. I did not see any bugs in the second room. The toilet was in the same condition as in the first room. The AC in the new room looked dated and moldy. My husband and I have used Motel 6 throughout the country, we have stayed at more than 30 different locations and this was by far one of our worst experiences with the chain. The manager said he acquired the property recently and it sounds like he wants to improve the location, but it is definitely not there yet.
I was very surprised to see Motel 6 improvements. The rooms at this location is large, with wooden floors and was recently renovated. The rooms are clean. The staff front desk and housekeeping are very help full, I will stay here again and again.
I love going to the motel 6 on Apalachee Pkwy they are clean they don't have any roaches or any other bugs like a lot of the motels in Tallahassee. The staff is great me and my husband go there all the time and I would greatly recommend this motel 6.
I looked at two rooms at Motel 6. Room 113 had dirty linens, hair on the pillows and under the sheets. The sink was dirty, the tub was dirty, and the toilet was dirty. I spoke to Daniel and informed him of the deficiencies in room 113. I asked him if there were any other rooms available. He offered me room 141. Room 141 had a dirty sink, tub, and the toilet was so disgusting my girlfriend refused to stay in the room. I informed Daniel of the deficiencies in room 141 and asked to look at the upstairs 1 bed rooms he had mentioned to me earlier. At that time he informed us we were being denied accommodations because, and I quote, "None of our rooms will meet your standards. " My standards are clean linens and a clean bathroom. Daniel says none of the rooms at Motel 6 meet those standards. University Inn & Suites Tallahassee did meet those standards, and for only $54.
The room was average. Old and out of date. Just a place, to stay for the night after the Football game. The location was AWESOME. Plenty of places to eat at and the Mall was right there street.
Rose has been very helpful to my wife while I have been in the hospital not knowing how long I would be. She made it possible for my wife to stay in the same nice room for 2 even though we do not know when I will be discharged from the rehab facility. She has treated my wife like one of the family and that means a great deal to both of us. The staff have been very kind and helpful to my wife while she has been alone and frightened. Thank you all so much!
This location is ideal if going to Tallahassee Downtown, near to restaurants and shops. The rooms are upgraded and very clean, the staff is friendly and professional. I would recommend this property.
Super clean and updated. Nice wood floors and no nasty carpet. Clean pool and very friendly front desk staff. They even called 10 min after we got there to make sure we liked the room and if we needed anything else.
The motel is somewhat older and was not entirely clean. For Wi-Fi I paid for extra, but did it only with many interruptions. I think for the price paid, I could have found a better Motel.
Nevertheless, the bed was comfortable and it was to endure for a night.
Worst hotel ive ever stayed in. Two roaches in a filthy dirty room. I wouldve left if I had an option at the time. Do not ever ever ever stay there.
A very EXCELLENT budget conscience place to stay for a few days! The nightly rate was exceptional. The hotel staff was honest, helpful and friendly and the room was as clean as much more expensive hotels!
They charged us 125.98 for 2 nights for a room that does not have a micro/fridge, hairdryers, Wi-Fi was messed up, no irons, security latch wasn't secure and the dresser was messed up, and no breakfast. I've stayed at better motels that had everything in the rooms and had breakfast that was cheaper, so much for a birthday getaway. Was not happy at all and will never stay here again. Also we told them we didn't need room service letting them know we don't want anybody in our room and they went in anyways while we was gone. Definitely a no no.
This place sucks. We had one towel for five days between two people because they wouldn't do laundry, I accidentally spilled coffee on the blankets and pillow cases and told them they needed washed but when I got back they put those same blankets and cases back on the bed, I was accused of stealing said blankets, and every time I tried to get into my room I had to go to the office because my key wouldn't work. I wouldn't recommend staying at this place. The Wi-Fi also isn't free…
Two visits; one in Sept and one in Oct, 2015. Both experiences pleasant, from the very clean renovated room with modern simple furnishings to the staff at the front desk (especially Pat). Fresh free coffee in the morning was great. Bed was comfortable and didn't hurt my back, plenty of clean towels, and no bugs! Definitely would come back, again. I didn't stay on a crowded home football weekend, so maybe that made a difference.
I've never sleep in a Hotel with a crappy bed and this was the 1st. The room was very clean and the price was fair but I'd rather pay more for a better nights sleep. Plus I wasn't able to use Wi-Fi without paying for it. Who freaking charges for Wi-Fi now days? It's 2015 Geez… McDonalds gives free Wi-Fi just saying.
This place was the biggest dump ever! How can a hotel be allowed to be THIS BAD! We slept fully clothed and didn't take a shower. We were afraid to take out shoes off. Just gross! Hair all in the "clean" towels and rags. Hair all over the floor. Faded blood stain on blanket. Just sleep in your car seriously!
I would never go back to this shity ass place they have nasty ass room very rude after a hour I was there they kicked me out an my 6 year old son 11 at night I didnt even have a warning they even called the police on me so ppl don't even stop.
I just got back from 3 night stay at motel 6 on 1027 apalachee parkway tallahassee fl and the General manager was very rude. The room we got was very hot as in ac didnt work and there was mold on the walls in r room … we told them about it and they didnt fix it and the General manager try to tell me and my hubby that we cant go back cuz we book r room 2 week head of time and now he was think my sister and my bro stay with us and which they did not. They just come up there to see us. So now I have not see nothing about I cant have no vistor to come see me at motel 6… I will never go back there again cuz I just cancel my room for week and for next month too … PLEASE DONT STAY HERE THEY R VERY RUDE AND I WILL BE CALLING SOMEONE ABOUT THIS AND PLUS THERE POOL WAS DRIT TOO …
Two words: ROACH MOTEL! At first glance the room looked clean and tidy but soon as you walked in the bathroom it was alive with roaches. Drug deals were going on in the parking lot and no one seemed to mind. There were teenagers running up and down the halls screaming disrespectfully all night, I tried to call the office to make a noise complaint and our telephone DID NOT work! We had booked this room for 3 nights and couldn't get a refund. Not once did a maid visit our room. This is a horrible place unless you want an awesome ghetto fab experience.
Clean room, courteous staff, comfortable bed, free internet and coffee in the morning — — hard to beat. Best value in my book.
The worst motel I've ever stayed from check in to check out in. We requested 2 beds and a non smoking room. We got a single bed and a smoking room. No attempt to correct the problem. The floor was dirty, there were holes in the sheets.
Having stayed at this motel 6 for months at a time, weeks at a time, or and single days, I have had the opportunity to become extremely familiar with the staff and management. They are all extremely amiable and an overall joy to experience. Tiffany and Will have both helped me out greatly during my stay there be it financial shortages or jumping my car (literally). I am ALWAYS thoroughly pleased with the staff and the new upgrades are AMAZING.
WORST place that I EVER had the misfortune of staying. Broken furniture. Clogged sink, Dirty bathroom. Dirty towels. Dirty bedding. No toiletry. Roaches and other bugs everywhere. Requested TWO Non-smoking rooms, I was given TWO DIRTY SMOKING rooms. I have nothing nice to say other that I could not wait for the morning so I can leave this place.

This Place does not even deserve one star. These are the most rude hateful and racist people I have ever encountered in my entire life. Check out for Motel 6 has always been at noon and my family and I are Motel 6 regulars. We also have a corporate account that we use and have used for many years. When the maid threatened us with the cops which was completely out of line I called the front office to complain. When I called the front office instead of listening to my complaint in addressing the rudeness and hatefulness and racist behavior of her maid she also threatened me with calling the police because I told her that I wanted to file a complaint. This place has chipped paint exposed and open as well as many other health and safety hazards within the room that I stayed in. The attendant Northern made cared anything about these legitimate concerns — all they cared about was terrorizing us belittling us and harassing us with law enforcement. They followed through with their threat and called the cops on me! I video recorded this incident for my records. I also reported all of this to their corporate offices — who I was on the phone with, when the police show up. Racism is a horrid thing and must be addressed immediately, adequately and thoroughly. I intend to give the corporate office a reasonable amount of time to rectify the situation.
