Nice staff, great location and lovely little rooms.

Yes, but the room near the street will be noisy, if more afraid of noisy people, it is best to choose the room behind, but the back room seems to be mostly two rooms, family rooms are in front, by the location of the street. Sleepy people, to consider, there are many food outside, the price will not be more expensive, quite clean is, the bed is comfortable.

The breakfast was good and the staff was nice. The position is quite good, just ~2 blocks from Union Square (even if a little to close to the Tenderloin). The bed was very uncomfortable because the blankets weren't firmly fixed to the mattress so during the night I ended up with the bed all messed up. The bathroom wasn't very clean, in the sense that it was so old that everything was yellowed by the time. Also, the sink wasn't in the bathroom but in the bedroom… The room wasn't very quiet because I could hear the (very loud) sound of the shower knobs of the room next to mine everytime they were used. For the price I paid I don't think this is acceptable honestly, San Francisco or not, this is not acceptable.

Super location, everything you need for 1-2 nights is there. Breakfast at the hotel's dining is good. Staff are very nice. However, relatively small room, windows very permeable to noise, which is why it is very noisy at night.

As others have stated very noisy rooms but otherwise clean rooms, comfortable beds and awesome shower/water pressure.

This hotel is clean and cute. Our room (#504) was tiny yet effecient and had a fair amount of street noise. Room which another person in our party stayed in, was larger and had no street noise. If the mattress was comfortable, I would have given it another star. There are a lot of great restaurants, two theaters and a Walgreens on the same block. Union Square was two short blocks away. Cabs to Fisherman's Wharf were quick and inexpensive. Overall, it was a great value amidst the too-pricey hotels of San Franscisco.

This hotel gave me sorta rustic old fashioned feeling. It did remind me how living is in SF… the old radiator heater, the elevator, the smells. It was sufficient enough for us. Our room was very cozy, clean, the street noise didn't bother us much. We were next to the old fashioned elevator which didn't bother us much either. Our complimentary breakfast was fair. The employees were very nice and helpful and polite. They let us check in early. I chose Touchstone because it was very cost to Union Square for the Chinese new year parade. And the price is just right. There's lots of places to chooses from for eating. The Pinecrest Diner is open 24 hours just at the corner from the hotel and is a very good local place to eat. I would reserve at Touchstone again.

My family and I just left this hotel after 3 nights. During the first one I woke up at the middle of the night to go to toilet and saw our room door half opened with a chair holding it in order to keep free access to our room. I got really worried because I was there with my four-years-old-daughter and wife. I report it to all employees I've met on that hotel. Also I asked to see CCTV imagens but nobody even tried to get answear to what have happened. It was a really hotelstay experience…

Rooms are small but the hotel is well located (although the area is kind of shifty at night). The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I'm here for 2 nights, but it's okay. Got a small room. The location is very good. Many restaurants in the Area. Very noisy from outside, but there are earplugs in the ROOM.

Touchstone had a great location, and great staff. However the rooms could have used a better eye for detail. (Someone else's pubes in the shower). Air conditioning would have been greatly appreciated! As well as wash clothes.

The room was perfect — and the bed sheets were insanely soft! It's in a great location to boot, only two blocks from the cable car!

Pros: 1. Location: Union Square 2 blocks away, public transportation easily available, plenty of cafes and restaurants around. Cons: 1. No parking available with the property, we had to park on the street a block down. 2. First night's room was cringe-worthy — dimly lit, separate small single beds, tiny old bathroom, shabby carpet. We requested for a change and moved to a double-room the next morning. It was better in terms of condition and facilities, but had some noise being right on the street. 3. Not worth the money compared to the facilities and services provided.

Affordable n decent hotel, very close to Union Square. Great house keeping, very nice staff. Reservations are highly recommended. They offer complimentary breakfast. Looking forward to stay again.

Hotel clean and simple but for the price lack of facilities compared to the motels and lodges (no coffee maker or fridge/microwave). Conveniently located (centre, 35 min walk from the Embarcadero). Good bedding.

Nice, clean hotel rooms though a bit small. Rooms have a good modern decor. Bed was ok, not bad but not the most comfortable or luxurious. No fridge. Bathroom and bath tub was clean. Room got a bit cold.

Small, old, ugly, not very clean, not very accessible… By against, good location, good price and good Wi-Fi. Pleasant receptionist. Room with a view… Air conditioning machines… Worst hotel of all those who have been in the USA.

Not the greatest area. Hotel elevator was broken half the time we were here, made being on the sixth floor absolutely terrible. Rooms seem cleanish… Everything seems dated and old. Only recommend if you're liking for somewhere to stay on a tight budget.

The woman at the reception was super unfriendly. This place has nothing special that would make me recommend it.

Great Hotel for 2star. Everything you need. So close to all the shops and Union Sq. All the nice extras like free water, earplugs and toiletry's should you need them. Room was simple and very clean. From desk staff very nice.

This is an affordable hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are small but they do what there supposed to. This hotel clean and serves its purpose.
