Very clean modern hotel with all the amenities you could need while you visit Valdez. Great location for walking around town or checking out the harbor. Friendly helpful staff and very accommodating!

Spent two nights at the Totem and the place is very nice with very comfortable beds. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Valdez, AK, stay here.

Stayed in the new building. Hands down, this is the nicest hotel in Valdez. Front Desk staff was GREAT. Very friendly. Breakfast had some issues… they didn’t thaw the berries before putting them out and we got there 2 hours after breakfast started! The biscuits were super doughy. For the money, I thought breakfast would be better.

New very nice, continental breakfast sucked. No milk for cereal, no jelly, run out bacon, eggs and patatoes were cold and orange juice was so diluted you could hardly taste it.

Valdez's crown jewel! Everything was wonderful! Exactly what you would want in a hotel. Clean, relaxing, amenities, beautiful ambiance, great staff and location. Valdez is a great place to visit and this is the best stay in Valdez.

Miss the restaurant and all the kewl gift shop other then that was a good looking hotel the a/c was not working or was not big enough couldn't cool off till 4 am.

Brand new remodel, makes this location the freshest, most modern choice in Valdez. Great rates and staff, who're extra friendly and accommodating. Love the ample sized bedrooms, the mini cabinets with side closets and couches that double as pull-out beds.

Suite was nice, pull out bed surprisingly comfortable. The shower was not my favorite though, the water temperature only had two settings: uncomfortably hot and somewhat cool.

Stayed in one of their cabins a little littered, but the inside was nice and clean, and the people working there were very friendly and helpful.

Brand New Facilities! All new hotel with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The rate I was charged was actually $40 lower than what was posted online. The only downside was the view from my room. But close the curtains set the room temp with the state of the art climate control and its off to dreamland. I didnt get a chance to sample the restaurant. I'll leave that to another visitor. Thank you Totem inn.

This is my first choice of hotel in Valdez. Rooms are nice and clean. The staff is very helpful.

Service was excellent and drinks were superb. They even had a giant jenga set. It was a blast.

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, modern rooms. Very comfortable beds that we were informed were recently replaced. Free Wi-Fi. Great view all around from here. Plenty of wildlife (fish, ducks, black bears, rabbits, bald eagles) within a few minutes walk, yet the hotel is a quiet place.

My family and I came down for a weekend road trip from the interior. I have never stayed at the Totem before, but the experience has been pretty nice. The room was a very nice suite (recent update? ), which unbenknownst to us had a kitchen! For a small town like Valdez, it is great… I have stayed some places here which left far more to be desired. The prices here during tourist season are nuts, but that's not unique to the Totem. Apparently, the Kitchen at the restaurant had a fire; too bad because the breakfast there used to be great! My biggest gripe is the proximity to the "night club"… the late night crowd makes this hotel a little less family friendly. Overall, my first stay at the Totem exceeded my expectations.

Nice, clean and comfortable. Rooms are fully equipped with TV, a kitchenette and an extra sofa bed if you need it. Doesn't offer breakfast, just coffee and pastries.

Very good food. Not sure what the motel is like but the food is good. Slow service but they are busy.

Room is a good size, the bathroom isn't very clean. Bed is semi comfortable.

It is a classic old style restaurant with a rustic feel. Food is average and service is adequate.

The owners of the establishment have no regard to anything but themselves. We had a family member go into hospice at the last minute and when we tried to cancel they still tried to charge us $400. No sympathy, understanding or human decency. Worst business experience I have ever witnessed.

Their "Famous Totem Inn chicken fried steak" dinner is one of the greasiest, nastiest, overpriced meals I have ever eaten. After seeing decent reviews, I expected a decent meal. Service was great, that wasn't the problem. The kitchen is obviously oblivious to the crap they are putting out OR they just plain don't know what the hell they are doing.

Did not stay at the inn, but ate at their restaurant. Delicious. Alaskan King Crab Legs with melted butter was finger licking good. Husband had steak and eggs (dinner and breakfast at the same time) and everything was cooked exactly to order. Very attentive server. Our meal with drinks was almost $100 before tip — and totally worth it! They also have good infused Bloody Mary's.

Great breakfast place. Quirky gift shop for those who like to shop. A couple of TVs on the wall.

Just what we needed! Our room was clean, complete, and quiet. Coffee maker was a little small.

The suite we had was nice enough & definitely clean. Just a few things that could have really improved our stay — 1. If you offer a suite with a full kitchen that accommodates 4, there should be 4 of each needed item. Such as forks/spoons … 2. Just a couple more necessary items in the kitchen would have been so helpful. (Mixing bowel, dish towels, paper towels, …) 3. The fold out bed was damaged & very hard to make use of. If the guys weren't as handy & strong as they are, there would have been no way I could use it. 4. The bathroom walls are in great need of repairs Otherwise, location was great & the place was quite nice. The front desk guy was very nice & helpful too. I'd actually stay there again, but be more prepared if I'm staying for any length of time. As for the restaurant, the food & service were fantastic! They have a great gift shop & the decor is nicely done "Alaskan" style. The menu prices were a bit high, but they had plenty to choose from. New tables would be an improvement, wobbly & quite old. Loved the fireplace:)

Place was very nice. Stayed in one of the cabins and it was very clean and so pretty. Would go back there again. Did go back to Valdez in September, it was totally booked so had to stay somewhere else.

The king crab legs had freezer burn on the ends of the legs. They were no better than what you could buy in New Mexico. Maybe it was out of season.

The room is spacious with a kitchen and a small washer dryer. The location is great and breakfast was great each morning.
